caught up to current beastars anime s3 part1 word vomit below heehee

my friend beth and i finally caught up to the beastars anime on wednesday and i have a lot to say!!!! ......lougoshi......

side note: i've already expelled all my thoughts to beth and we're p much always on the same wavelength and have the same thoughts i just deliver them in a much more chaotic eratic loud and unhinged manner, but i just wanna unleash some of my thoughts again

side side note: i'm not in school and haven't been in a hot minute thank God but i started writing two essays just for the fuck of it and one is about media consumption of Canon vs Fanon and it was heavily inspired by this beastars era of my life LMFAO

some baseline opinions to get out of the way. i enjoyed season one as an entertaining foundation to explore the beastars universe and lore. solid season of anime! minus the murder mystery (i believe was a macguffin until season 2? BUT IT WAS LITERALLY WHAT GOT ME INTO THE SHOW IN THE FIRST PLACE BECAUSE I WAS SO INTRIGUED AND UPSET ABOUT RIZTEM CUZ I READ ABOUT THEM AND THEIR STORY BEFORE EVEN WATCHING THE SHOW SKSKSKSKS another conversation for another time), the season's arc of figuring yourself out, only to find out u r an outcast in society's standards, works well in the high school setting. the point i want to make here about season 1 is that i quite liked legoharu!! it was very Teenage Innocence and trying to figure out how they would work as a couple while once again figuring out themselves in the world. me liking a hetero pairing?? strange i know!! but to be so honest i like any pairings that have solid writing and good chemistry >_< i obvi heavily lean towards pairings of the gay variety as a veteran fujo lol anyways i've also heard people dislike haru and to each their own ofc but i saw so much of her in myself bc her self esteem / self image and also how the world around her treated her bc of her past... i'm sorry i relate to that!

ok so season 1 general opinion out of the way, season 2 was peak. LOUGOSHI STORY IS UTTERLY UNMATCHED. WE ALL WATCHED IT. I DON'T HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING MORE THAT EVERYONE HASN'T ALREADY SAID A MILLION FUCKING TIMES. i do want to say that season 2 was such a perfect progression of the series, how everything established, the rules and expectations of their society as well as the characters' personalities lores and raison d'etres, felt like it got subverted through being thrown into the outside adult world. our shining-star-poster-child-beastars-to-be herbivore louis has a societal fall from grace and becomes mafia boss of an underground (sweetiepie) carnivore gang and our big bookie wookie bubba legoshi goes edgelord alpha wolf mode to fight the big bad (once again another conversation) gay bear. the two are basically separated the entire season HSM2 Gotta Go My Own Way realness. and once again we all watched the damn season we know what happened cuz if i just give a recap on everything in great detail i will crash out again in great spectacle.

now. season 3. remember what i said. i like legoharu. but WHAT THE FUUUUCK ARE WE DOINGGGGGG??? AFTER ALL THAT??? ALL THAT??? THAT??? B F F R BITCH OH MY GOD DON'T PISS ME OFF we went through all of the drama, the time apart, the yearning, the recognizing scents, the recognizing faces after major style changes, the TAAAAAAIL WAGGINGGGGGGG, the R U N A W A Y W I T H M E . . . . . ok lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao not even just that lougoshi decimated the spotlight, but the legoharu in this season was so shoddy and forced REMOVED FROM THE CONTEXT OF S2 LOUGOSHI. that is truly what upset me. i actually am enjoying this season on its own if the legoharu AND junolouis were removed from it. i have some qualms w it still and is still my least fav out of all the seasons, but it would be SAVED if these pairings just didn't happen??????? as for s3 part2, i know the GENERAL ending like who ends up with who and what happens to so and so and so and so like it's all whatever but i feel so robbed of canon lougoshi BECAUSE THE PURPOSE OF BOTH LEGOHARU AND LOUGOSHI IN THIS STORY IS TO ILLUSTRATE THE COMPLEX RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CARNIVORE-HERBIVORE RELATIONSHIPS IN A WORLD THAT CONSIDERS THEM TABOO WHILE ALSO NAVIGATING FEELINGS OF INFERIORITY BECAUSE OF THE ROLE AND SPECIES YOU WERE BORN INTO YET THESE CHARACTERS CAN SHOW US THAT THEY CAN PREVAIL. they are just. explored in different flavors. legoharu went the route of innocent high school crush and romantically hardened heroine who lowers her defenses around the one big scary carnivore that sees her for her while lougoshi went the route of illustrious poster child adoration and fragile-under-the-exterior poster child who lowers his defenses around the one big scary carnivore that sees him for him.

r u seeing how it wouldn't matter which pairing was made canon to show everyone that true love and truly fighting and trying for it can conquer societal pressures and expectations?? but wouldn't we want the pairing with more canonical depth and time being spent nurtured the one to be championing that message!!! anyways

(postscript of an OHMYGOD realization i had the exact moment i finished writing this) harking back to how legoharu and lougoshi both have the same purpose in the narrative, just explored in different flavors. the juice of legoharu is the romantic plotline. the juice of lougoshi is All That Other Shit. if lougoshi were to be given the badge of canon romance while keeping All That Other Shit in their story... legoharu would have no reason to exist... oh wow! it all makes sense now!
