Here's a headcanon i have:

Raven dipped as soon as Yang was born, leaving frazzled and unprepared, fresh out of Beacon Tai with an infant on his hands. And thus he had more important things to take care of, so he just named her after himself temporary to not call her "child". And by the time he could breathe a bit and think of a proper name for her, it already stuck.

And thus Taiyang's first daughter got named Yang permanently by accident.

Bonus hc 1: Qrow and Summer made fun of him for that, teasing him that he did it on purpose as some kinda ego thing

Bonus hc 2: because of this experience, when Summer was pregnant, Tai went all in on lists upon lists of names to pick a perfect one for Ruby

Hi, I hope it's not bothering you, I just came to shed some light on this question of "why does Jaune's fan hate Oscar?" I'm a fan of Jaune but I think Oscar's character is very good, but I believe the hate that Oscar receives comes from the fact that he appears out of nowhere and gains a very important purpose out of nowhere(ozpin vessel) Many fans or stans wanted this to be for Jaune, who had already been in the main group for the longest time. For me, I liked Oscar's idea in the series, the only thing I would change is adding more to his backstory.

I think I understand but also there's already SO MUCH going on with Jaune, I think him being an ozcarnation on top of that would have been a logistical nightmare, to write. I think they already found it difficult to write him in the ever after, even if they probably planned that from the beginning (him having a white rabbit on his hoodie).

I do wish we got more of Oscar's backstory (and it might still be coming), but I don't mind his introduction to the show. Could've been handled better? Probably. But also I really don't understand why everyone keeps hating on it. It's not like our other main characters had much fleshed out introductions.

Smth that really intrigues me abt Ozpin is how the HELL he became a professor or Headmaster at such a young age

Like. Canonically he's younger than Theodore, who's in his mid-late 40s (I'd wager early-mid 40s based on looks but still). So at the oldest, Ozpin is in his early 40s, maybe mid-late 30s at the youngest.

So like. He's around the same age as STRQ?? Meaning he likely got his Huntsman license, at the youngest, at 17 years old and likely became a professor and then HEADMASTER not long after that.

It's repeatedly said that Ozpin was a child prodigy (something he actually shares with Pyrrha, an interesting parallel). And honestly I just... who got him into that position?? I HIGHLY doubt that the previous Oz had something set in place for the next Oz to get into such a powerful position, bc pressuring such a young teenager is not something that's in their character (unless the KoV specifically was like that, but we don't know anything abt him).

I doubt Ozpin, as a KID who wasn't even finished with the merge yet, wanted to be Headmaster (he stated repeatedly he was in Oscars place; scared, confused, and not wanting the responsibility that comes with the merge).

Maybe there were descendants of the King of Vales own inner circle that got Ozpin into that position? If so, that's pretty fucked up ngl.

Honestly, the more you think about Ozpin, the sadder he gets. I am DESPERATE for a side show or even a freaking book about him and STRQ. He has so so many parallels with Ruby and Pyrrha. He's such a compelling character I swear
