He glances towards the space beside the visitor. “Also— you know where beef comes from, but do you know how it tastes, yet?”

“That depends. Some of us need not subsist on anything at all, while others are so shaped by their obsessions they begin to depend on them. And we are not all made of light and iron,” she says, amused. “That is just me, in this moment. Back home, I do not have much of a form, though the iron always persists now. It’s a new development, and not a feature of my kind.”

Mercy pauses for a moment, thinking.

“I’m not sure I can eat your food, to be perfectly honest. I didn’t do the organs. Nobody does the organs.”

Mercy grinned, perhaps a bit wider and brighter than a human should, though she wore a very convincing skin.

“I assure you, I mean no harm. I’ve been spending some time in your cluster of worlds, and curiosity led me to yours. I do hope my Breach didn’t cause much of a disturbance.” She bowed. “I’d be pleased to answer whatever questions you may have.”

Haruto pursued the sensation of an intruder out into the street. The breach had only happened a moment ago, so he was sure they couldn't have gotten far. He wasn't going to allow anyone to simply tread untested into his city streets. Even if they meant no harm, he had to ensure that they wouldn't be affecting the city even by accident.

Once he caught sight of them, Haruto rounded the corner and came out of the street directly in front of them, blocking their path. It looked female, but he wasn't sure that it was, really.

"Pardon me," he raised his chin a bit to them, "but I do believe you are not what you appear to be. As the guardian of this city, it is my duty to vet visitors like you. I would appreciate your cooperation."

He leans back in kind, hand grabbing the table for support. “Yes, and yes. Does your, ah, kind not usually grow it,” Joshua raises a brow, “back at whichever crevice of the universe you call home?”

Mercy shakes her head. “No. My world is very different than yours, and we do not need to eat the way you do, so we don’t grow any kind of plant. I do not think it would be possible if we tried.”

They didn’t have... soil, the way this world did. And besides, didn’t plants need certain sun... qualifications to grow? The Tenebrae certainly couldn’t fulfill those, even with its suns back.

Denizen looked up from his phone at the sound of a voice. He glanced around before realizing that yeah, the stranger was probably talking to him.

“Em. Maybe?” He cleared his throat. “I mean--yeah, I’m new. We’ve been here a couple days, but there’s, like, a lot of city and I don’t know my way around yet. Obviously.”

He was rambling. He was rambling to a stranger who probably didn’t care and was just trying to be polite and helpful.

“My friend told me to meet her at Towa Records,” Denizen said, glancing back down at his phone. “I’m looking up directions, it’s just taking a minute.”

Another busy day in Shibuya. That’s how it always was. But Kariya didn’t mind it, he’d lived here his whole life. He loved it.

It was a little chilly outside, and it looked as if it might rain. Carrying a small shopping bag with a few things he’d wanted to get for himself and Uzuki, he walked through the busy streets a bit quicker than normal, wanting to make it home.

As he stops at one of the crosswalks, he takes a look around as he waits. He always loved people-watching, but nothing ever really concerned him much. But he spots a stranger nearby, and he pauses for a moment. Something seemed different about the stranger, but there wasn’t really any indication of why.

Probably just my imagination, he shrugs. All kinds of people here.

And yet he couldn’t shake this weird feeling. Against his better judgement, he turns, carefully making his way toward the stranger, keeping a friendly smile on his face.

“Sorry to bother ya, but you’re lookin’ a little lost,” he offers. “You new around here?”

Maybe he could figure out why things for off to him. And if he was just imagining things, well, maybe he could at least point this stranger in the direction of wherever they wanted to go.

Just as he's about to lift a bite of beef strips and rice from his bowl, he hears a voice from the spot next to his.

"Yes, I know about cows mooing." He sets his chopsticks aside, cocking his head towards them— their presence noticeably imperceptible beyond what he sees of them by his side.

"What I don't know as well as beef being derived from cows, is what sort of being you are— what kind of matter you originate from."
