as someone who fell in love with David Corenswet the second I saw him in 2019 (shoutout The Politician) I am genuinely GIDDY at the reception he's gotten from the general nerd population on the internet. like there's still time for him to do something horrible sure, but from what I've seen so far, every new piece of lore the public has gotten/found has been even more endearing than the last YESSSSSSSS
and on top of that, I just can't get over that Superman has kissed boys on tv. like the current superman has literallyyyyy kissed boys on the mouth and there's nothing that homophobes can say about it because there's proof! on Netflix!! it's a major plot point!!!

It’s so funny to me that the foxes and the Trojans can come so close to the ravens rank wise. You mean the ravens trained 16 hours a day, lived and breathed in pairs, beat tf outta each other, trained by the literal creator of the sport, and studied angles/ racket weight meanwhile the Trojans have hotpot and bubble tea outings after a lap in the pool?
Like they really did a LOT for not much difference huh

i think it explains a lot about me that i cried watching the wizards of waverly place movie when justin says "why would i help you?" and alex says "because you're my brother" and he says "im your brother?" since he's lost his memories and alex says "no no no justin please please you can't leave me here, please remember. im alex, im your little sister, i taunt you and i tease you and i make your life miserable, but you love me anyway. you're everything that ive ever wanted to be. im jealous of how—how smart you are, and how kind, and how nice. please don't leave me here" and justin looks at her in confusion, bc he doesn't know who she is, but still says "id never leave you"

The real thing with ADHD is not "I forgot", but that forgetting is this ongoing process. I remembered! And then I forgot.
At ten this (hypothetical) morning I remembered that I have a meeting at six. And then from 11 through 3 I worked on other stuff and had zero thoughts about that meeting. Maybe even thought about what I was gonna do with my evening at home. Got attached to the idea of taking the time to make a good dinner, maybe play some video games.
And then at three I said, "Oh! Fuck!" and remembered again, hopefully long enough to set an alarm. And then I went to the bathroom and remembered that I need to clean the counter and spent twenty minutes cleaning the bathroom and went to get a snack and then at five I said, "OH! FUCK!" and had to scramble to dress like a real adult and get out the door.
It isn't one clean forgetting. It's a constant process of forgetting and then, with an exhausting adrenaline spike, remembering. And then forgetting. Baby, I can forget the same thing more times in a day than you ever forgot your parents' anniversary.

this is a book series that will have you rocking back and forth and ripping your hair out and bashing your skull into a wall but then you have to look someone directly in the eyes and say yeah it’s about a fake sport with fake drugs and also the yakuza is involved

"empowering women by sending katy perry to space for 2 minutes" shut the fuck up. samantha cristoforetti was the first female commander of the international space station and she became an astronaut because of star trek. and there is a real chance she is a kirk/spock shipper

"If tampons should be free, then so should my diabetes meds."
Yes? Yes they should be? Your life-saving medication that you need in order to live for a condition you were born with should be given to you at no cost?

Holland deserved better.
spoilers for a conjuring of light!
I just finished the last book in the shades of magic series and bro. I'm actually pissed about Holland we need to talk about it.
I don't think that ending for him was necessary at all, dying cold and alone after everything he went through is just cruel. idk if anyone was a fan of The Magicians while it was still coming out, but Holland's death reminds me so much of Quentin's. for context when we are introduced to Quentin we learn immediately he is severely depressed and has been a danger to himself in the past. after going through so much growth throughout the show, at the very end he knowingly sacrifices himself, showing he STILL doesn't value his own worth and actually there's no true healing to be done.
now of course it's not exactly the same situation but similarly, right after we are introduced to Holland we learn that he is being controlled by the Danes, that he once had a fire and passion in his eyes but that has since been extinguished and now he simply appears resigned and detached. On top of this, after learning more about him we see he gets used as a tool/pawn time and time and time again, often with zero/very little say in the matter since his body is literally not in his control. (idk if this is a hot take but I'd even argue while Ros may have genuinely seen Holland as a friend, he certainly still used Holland as a pawn in his plan and gave Holland very little agency once he agreed to help Ros become king.) Holland spends so long not in control of his body and actions, it mentally breaks him. when we get his pov, we see him contemplating giving up and giving in multiple times, the only reason it took so long when he was with the Danes was bc 1. the spell was clearly designed for him to be mentally present, so he couldn't just turn his brain off 2. he wasn't in enough control of his body to be able to just like stab himself or something. as soon as he sees an opening with kell though, once he finally goads Kell into fighting to kill, Holland let's it happen.
then we see him with Osaron and he tries to fight back and get better, but he can't control his own body and Osaron's will is crushing Holland's mind, he again spirals into thinking about giving up and letting go, that maybe it would be better if he stopped fighting. and then once he finally has his body back, he still kinda does give up fighting, he let's people hit him when he could've stopped it, he let's people insult him without batting an eye. he clearly did not have enough self worth and he was punishing himself for things out of his control.
then finally after everything, them training for as long as they could to work in a trio, each of them saving each other's lives, people finally treating Holland as a person instead of a monster and traitor, after all of that, he still puts everyone else's life above his own. he doesn't give himself a chance to heal, aka ve schwab doesn't give him a chance to give himself a chance to heal, nope he's sacrificed for the greater good. again he gets punished for things he was not able to control. it just paints the concept of growth and healing in a really gross and unkind light. especially since we know Holland is the someday king and his main motivation was to heal his city, it's so unnecessarily cruel to me to not let him see those effects not to mention imo, the least interesting writing decision she could've made in that moment. he deserved a million times better than that and I'm pissed rant over

some scattered disability and White London thoughts:
Schwab missed a hundred thousand opportunities for disability rep; this is a bleak, apocalyptic landscape where one of the prevalent currencies is blood, and both children and adults are frequently attacked for their power.
Sign language. Look. Most magicians need to speak to focus their power, though Schwab makes clear it's more a way to keep up concentration than a necessity (take Lila's tiger, tiger, burning bright. So I wanna see that taken to its logical conclusion: tongues removed because many. many people think they! are the source of power, or at least where immense magic will nest.
Therefore: A thriving culture of sign language, where everyone is at least semi-fluent.
Holland, watching Talya's hands trace the old stories in gorgeous, fluid arcs with her hands as her face takes on a million expressions. Later, finishing them beneath the blankets, fingers tracing words intohis skin in the dark.
Holland stands out as much because his Antariness has allowed him to avoid disability as for the power itself.
Way the fuck more prosthetics particularly prosthetic hands considering how so many people carve element-control runes directly on their skin. Take away your hands, and some enemies would think they could take away your ability to fight.
Lethally sharp hooks for hands, with the runes carved directly into the metal and the most ruthless fighters absolutely willing ready and able to gouge out your eyes with their prosthetics.
Consequently: prosthetic care. Eventually, you have to take your hand/hands off; moisturize the stumps etc. Who you choose to be that vulnerable with says a thousand things about your character. (and the moments when you don't particularly *choose* it but you need to anyway because you've had it on too long and the skin is blistering; infection in Makt would be deadly.
The irritations of amputations. I know from some other characters I've researched for: things like washing your hair with only one functioning hand: an absolute bitch.
Anemia. In AGOS, part of what Ojka says Osaron's powers does is "warm her blood". Everyone in that city must be A. constantly cold; and not cold like a coat can fix. Cold from poor circulation and generally "weak" blood. People who have an affinity with bone magic (Athos, Vortalis, Holland himself) would have a significant advantage because everyone else is moving just slightly sluggishly, always dragging at the weight of exhaustion. It's part of what would make Talya's dancing so fucking _impressive, that she moves like that even despite the headaches, dizziness, etc.
Holland as Antari: essentially a fucking human heated blanket to anyone who isn't afraid to be so close to y'know the extremely dangerous magician.
God, there's so. so much more, but my brain is swiss cheese. But I at least wanted to start the ball rolling, because I feel like this's a corner of fandom that's just _bursting with possibilities.
