drowned for a ghost

the sea is feral with your silence. waves bare their teeth, dragging my name through salt and foam until it forgets how to sound like me.

i begged the moon to pull me back but the tide was drunk with longing. it swallowed my voice, then fed it to the storm.

you ghost in a lighthouse with your hands on the switch watched me drown. not a flicker. not a flare.

only the stillness of a lightless shore and the echo of you saying you were never mine to find.

my mind creaks like a hull splitting in two. i speak to mirrors that answer in salt. i braid seaweed into my hair and call it a crown of devotion. i laugh when the thunder speaks your name. i scream into bottles and pretend they’re letters you never meant to send.

every breath tastes like brine and hallucination. i can no longer tell if i’m in the water or if the water is in me.
