1. What motivates you to write?

Rereading my favorite stories, certain movies- I forget what Tolkien called it, but just the urge to create after seeing something beautiful that someone else has created. Also telling stories as a sort of release for the feelings/vibes/sentiments that I just don't have space to experience in my every day life.

2. A line/short snippet of your writing that you are most proud/happy of. If not maybe share a line of someone else's work you love (just please credit them)

From one of Megan’s stories I’m starting to rework so it’s one cohesive thing and not a tumblr RP thread xD

The truth… Megan laced her fingers and leaned forward, resting her forearms on her thighs. Her hazel eyes stared without focus into the distance. How much of the truth to tell him, at least at this moment.

3. Which OC makes you smile every time you think/talk about them and what are they like?

Guardian Megan Samuels. Both she and her order were created for/in the Doctor Who universe, but I'm tweaking some of the concepts for a potential OW. Writing her adventures got me through a really horrible period of my life.

Megan is the embodiment of one of my favorite tropes, "character is done with x but x isn't done with them (because they're good at it)." She was plucked from her life and remolded into a warrior, yet despite being hundreds of years old and seeing untold horros (time war) she hasn't succumbed to cynicism.

She's kind and self sacrificing almost to the point of martyrdom, very protective of the ones she cares about, "you said pick my battles, I'm picking all of them", the hardened exterior of a warrior hiding the fragile, broken, vulnerable, and somehow still kind and optimistic person underneath.

Fuck I miss writing her. Might be time to dust off her old stories...

4. What process of writing do you enjoy the most?

The semi stressful feeling when the ideas and plot are forming faster than your fingers can type- and when the flow stops, going back and tweaking the whole ass story or scene that just popped into existence like Athena did to Zeus xD just watching the story unfold before you, sometimes in ways you didn't think it would

5. What part of writing do you think you are the best at? (Yes stroke your own ego it's okay)

How I write action, specifically fights. Pacing it and varying the language so it's engaging but also realistic within the world of the story, and also the thoughts and feelings of the characters while they're fighting.

Also how I can almost always find the right/specific words to describe the vaguest of vibes and feelings, so that the ephemeral mess in my head is understandable (prob cuz I had to do that a lot to get people in my life to understand how I was experiencing the world)

6. What is something in the writeblr community is most enjoyable?

Both the commiseration about how writing is wonderful and awful at the same time, and seeing normally eloquent writers have incoherent unhinged conversations about their blorbos xD

7. A writing tool/device you use that helps you with writing? (It could be speech to text, a writing program etc)

Sticky notes and a notebook. I have post-its in the back of my writing notebook with all my ideas/prompts so that if I want to write something but don't know what, I can pick one. also specifically those notebooks with folders in them, they're the unsung heros of writers who just accumulate scrap paper with notes and ideas and want to keep them with their writing notebook (aka me) xD

8. A piece of worldbuilding that you like in your own story? (It could be the magic system, a particular place in the story, a law etc)

In the Doctor Who universe that Megan was originally created for, the Order of Guardians is formed of soldiers of different species from all over the universe, kind of like the Green Lantern corps but for Time Lords. Each Guardian is assigned a Time Lord to protect, how they go about that is their business (Megan is basically glued to the Doctor's hip, she gotta be xD), but their first loyalty is to Gallifrey. They are all enhanced to live as long as Time Lords but don't regenerate, they go through extensive training and schooling, are the elite fighting force of Gallifrey. Megan was the first human Guardian. I'm working on tweaking this whole concept for a potential OW, we'll see how it goes xD

9. What piece of advice would you say to encourage others to write if they are having a rough patch?

Write what you want to write, no matter what it is. Go to your sources of motivation, whatever makes you want to get lost in the magic of storytelling. and remember, it's okay to step away for a bit and come back to it in a few days or weeks or however long- give your brain the space to rest.

10. Tag some people whose works you love/have been your biggest supporters.

Both Chrome and Ama who are already tagged (such amazing writers and so supportive of my multi chap that I've been working on for 3 ish years now) but also @griever-bit-my-finger @honeybeezgobzzzzz @7-wonders @just-french-me-up @just-some-random-blogger @roguelov @cuckoo-on-a-string @peachesofteal @undiscovered-horizon @just-some-random-blogger All of these folks have multiple works that I've read multiple times, and I enjoy them just as much every reread as I did the first time (No pressure to do the questions just my undying love)

OOOOOO this is a good one, ok in no particular order (because I just can’t I love them all so much) I’m gonna say my top 5 are

1) Bokuto (obv, that’s my sunshine cinnamon apple)

My best friend was the one to get me into Haikyuu and the first character I actually loved was Nishinoya, but when this himbo ball of light came on screen my heart was like “him, that’s our boy”

Also fun fact I’m actually such a hater lowkey because in my first year of college (before I was into anime) my ex was actually watching Haikyuu and I walked in on her crying over an episode and I looked at her like 🤨 what is wrong with you crying over some pictures (oh how the turnt tables am I right)

2) Gon and Killua (you can’t separate them)

My babies my sons my everything’s , HxH had such a big impact on me and it took me FOREVER to watch it so it was a part of my routine for a while and it sounds silly to say I was inspired by some 12 year olds but genuinely I was I absolutely love their characters and their development throughout the story

3) Nobara (best girl)

From the moment she showed up on screen I have loved this girl so much she’s so sassy and funny and she is so sure about herself her sense of self is something I can only dream to have and she’s such a fucking badass her technique is incredible and I miss her so much GEGE BRING HER BACK

4) Gojo

Riding that jjk train still it’s actually really funny because I actually hated Gojo when I first watched season 1, I found him to be arrogant and annoying, and then I read the manga and I realized that the reason I hate him was not really because he’s arrogant and annoying (which he is) but it’s because I saw myself in him (tragic I know) and then especially after I read Hidden Inventory arc my entire perspective changed and I realized he’s actually a character I treasure very much and I love him

5) Zoro and Sanji (another package deal sorry)

Now hear me out right I am like 0.000001% of the way through one piece (I’m on like episode 140) but the way these characters have stolen my heart is insane, and do I happen to also simp for both of them?? Yes, but the point is that their actual characters are so amazing to me and I know there’s still more of Sanjis backstory that I haven’t really seen and it’s most likely going to break me but I just have such a love for them and their dynamic so I’m gonna say they’re top five for me; the way that Zoro is so dedicated and loyal is something I find to be an incredible aspect of him (not to mention his talents as a swordsman), and Sanji cares so deeply for people and is such a caretaker and the fact that he is able to fight using only his legs is also incredible to me

So those are my top 5 (7?) favorite blorbos and a little bit as to why , idk why I stuck specifically to anime because I definitely have favorite characters from other forms of media but this is just what my brain wanted to supply at this very moment

she is my wettest, most pathetic little girlie. she is SOOO unused to communicating. like at all. it isn't like she's being secretive -- it just never occurs to her to tell people things. (also she has crazy high charisma bc teehee but really that's just -- like she's so bad at expressing her emotions that she's hard to read. is she lying? you don't know!). anyway really the only way the party -- gale and others -- learn a SCRAP of information about her is when she like has a panic attack and the wormies so kindly feed them scraps of whatever it is that's upsetting her. whole party sitting around after she's gone to bed trying to piece together the latest scrap of Marian Lore from what they can remember.

kind of related but gale goes out of his way to take such good care of her. like it's a point of pride for him. his wife is a shaky little abused chihuahua but he treats her so well that she would never growl at you <3 and it especially starts with feeding her, like early act 1. she's soso skinny, she doesn't have an ounce of fat on her. she looks like she'd die if she missed a single meal. and he doesn't even think about it that hard, he just takes note of what she eats a lot of and makes extra, makes it more often, gives her extra in her bowl. and by act 3 she's nice n soft n healthy and there's color in her cheeks. she had one set of robes for her entire life and had to maintain them magically or wear dirty, torn, too-small clothing? hmmmm well. now she gets anything she so much as looks at too long in a shop window. and she doesn't expect this, of course. oh my god, she'd never consider asking for anything, ever. needing help is a failure state, don't you know? but only for her. it's okay if other people need help. but not her. but we know mister grand gestures over here is DOTING on her.

aaaaaaand her older sister is a self-taught bard and taught marian some music when she was, like, a very young child. and it's something that she'd completely forgotten about until gale died (lol) and she had to use that stupid flute to resurrect him. like, that night in camp she noodles around with the flute and manages to work out some old folk song, and she has no idea where it's from, but it makes her feel some type of way and makes her remember a feeling she can't even remember having felt before.

and uhhhhh yeah, Riley! Riley is good, lots of love for Riley over here, I like her a lot hehe. she is indeed very cute and nice!!

Riley lives in one of the apartments across the hall from Nat and she's a fellow vamp, and was turned about six years ago :3 she was turned voluntarily but I haven't pinned down exactly why yet, though I have my suspicions...... she regrets it, but tries not to dwell on it too much

she's the first friend Nat makes without Quinn's help! for her first appearance in the story, she senses the presence of A Vampire in Nat's apartment and knows Nat is a weird paranoid hermit who, to her knowledge, has never had a single person over to his apartment in the three years he's lived there....... so naturally she assumes some vampire has gotten inside somehow and is going to eat her weird neighbour lmao

she very anxiously attempts to break in and save him, and they have an extremely awkward spiderman meme moment at the door where she's like "are you ok do you need help??????" and he's like "dude what?? I was just taking a nap??? I'm fine???" then they both have the Oh I'm Staring At Another Vampire realisation at the same time

anyway, ye, Riley is very cool....... a popular gal who makes a good first impression.... polite and friendly but with a big ol' mischievous streak....

she loves bright colours and clashing patterns and zany makeup, her fashion tends to be very eccentric and bold and she gets a lot of compliments on it, that and her signature multicoloured hair, which changes frequently c:

she loves dramatic soap operas and old horror movies. she's a bit of a vampire film buff and has a running ranked list of which are the most accurate. she personally has a fondness for the really horrible monstrous scary vamp films, in a sort of jokingly self-deprecating "haha look it's me!" sort of way :c

she doesn't have a fatal sunlight allergy the same way Alex does, but still gets nasty burns and blisters pretty quick so she's mostly nocturnal too. she works as a tour guide for haunted locations and does ghost tours, basically! she also often writes about ghosts and the paranormal for little magazines or online journals.... she and Shara from ATDAO would get along so well. ghost time!

she's great with kids because she's basically a big chaotic kid herself, and great with adults because she's good at pretending she's not just a big chaotic kid xD she's bubbly and mischievous and loves a bit of good-natured chaos. she's a prankster and often takes Nat for a bit of a ride, seeing what ways she can mess with him or what silly things she can make him believe...... mostly because he's a very very very new vampire and doesn't know left from right yet lmao. but it's all in good fun :3 she's a big sweetheart and loves to fuss over her friends (of which she has a LOT)

in terms of vampiric activity, she just hangs out at shady bars and eats creeps. extremely valid. bigoted dirtbags talking a little too loudly, people slipping things in other people's drinks, dudes who get too handsy without consent or follow people home. eat more creeps 2k22. she's not always particularly subtle and quite a few humans who are familiar with her turn a blind eye when some unpleasant bastard mysteriously goes missing lmao

she knows about Quinn's reputation and has made a point to stay as far away from them as possible, n she's extremely worried about Nat being involved with them....... she doesn't want him to be taken advantage of :< she's quite terrified of Quinn and wants him to be safe! she's part of the reason Nat stops letting Quinn push him around so much, her care and encouragement definitely have a big impact on him

though Riley has a very bubbly and cheery personality, she's super fuckin depressed and extremely high anxiety all day every day. she was already an anxious human and vampirism aka "If You Didn't Have An Anxiety Disorder Before, You Do Now!" disease of course exacerbated this...... she's less prone to paranoia than most other vampires, though, probably due to her open and trusting temperament as a human

mmmm one final fun fact about Riley is that...... I always imagine she and Yvonne would get along SO well! I think Yvonne would be fascinated by Riley tbh, for...... reasons :3 well, for reasons thematically related to Yvonne's character arc, but that I won't go into here because they're still simmering in my brain and not ready to be rambled about yet!

so in my head, although Yvonne and Riley don't actually have much of a chance to get to know each other, I always think under different circumstances they could have been very good friends..... we can throw Zeke into the mix for some fun too :D

in terms of shipping with the rental car gang I'm always just like "idk just do whatever!" and Riley/Yvonne is such a good one..... have considered writing aus where [REDACTED] doesn't happen and the two get a chance to become close..... Riley/Yvonne/Zeke love triangle also has fun potential hahaha

Why not recap my own day once again? Just to see if my brain still functions:

I hate, hate, HATE my landlord. Former landlord now because I don't have to deal with that arrogant, petty, nagging, egotistic, smug idiot anymore, but he gave me half an hour of belittling for goodbye and thought himself gracious and polite while making fun of me. Good riddance, turd.

After that, I had a bit of an overload and roamed aimlessly and with a level of emotional numbness - and walked right into the fucking AfD demo. An exact week after my sis missed her train and got stuck in a city far away from home because she happened across a demo, this set up an alert bell in my head and I skedaddled.

Police abound, as you would expect when there's a demo going down. I did not expect that one of them would give a brief description of lil' old me to some colleague over his radio unit when I walked by. Uhm? I was walking away from the bullshit? Didn't know that I look like a threat to the state when I put up my rain hood. Nifty. Put that down in my file; my Stasi guy will love it.

I didn't know there were wild bunnies in the park down Magnus-Hirschfeld-Ufer. Now I know. I think I scared them. Sorry, bunnies. I just needed to pee and there was convenient shrubbery. Come to think of it, also sorry to Magnus Hirschfeld for peeing in a place named for him, but if there's one historical blorbo who I trust wouldn't give me crap for the necessities of my body, it's Hirschfeld.

Bookstore visit entailed one (1) shelf with little more than a dozen books spread out over it that were colorfully advertised as "LGBTQ+". They apparently stopped at the LGB though; not one of the books was dealing with gender in any depth. It is a fucking huge bookstore, way bigger than the library in my home town - and even that had a few books that could be of interest to trans teens. Fifteen years back, might I note. Well, said shelf was on the 2nd floor of the bookstore. When I got up to the 3rd, I found half the fucking floor dedicated to all sorts of Harry Potter merchandise and special editions and movies and what not. I may have felt the urge to pick my nose and then smear my finger over the first written mention of her-who-must-not-be-named, but I didn't follow the urge up with a deed, so there.

Everything hurts and I'm dying. Sänk ju for träwelling wis Deutsche Bahn; I sat on the cold floor of the full and late train for more than two hours. You know things are bad when the actual move isn't the worst on your bones.

There was a girl at the railway station who had the nicest skirt, midi, moss green, looked like self-made, consisting of approximately a thousand full, voluminous pleats. And it had pockets. When I got in touch with my feelings again, what I felt was envy. But I was too much of a coward to compliment her.

All in all, this day was a lot. But I get to scratch one of three big Things To Do off my list. I moved successfully. Of course, the result of this is that I wish not to move at all for least two days. I'll eat chocolate now and try to feel a little more comfortable.

So, Dott is an animal lover and he's also a giant nerd who loves to research. So I could see them somehow getting in touch because he sent some nerdy comm to her professional email, asking questions and such and the two quickly become pen pals perhaps? 👀 He would be incredibly interested in her conservation work as well! He sees so much destruction on war-torn planets and since he's the type who always thinks about the future, he's definitely concerned with what can be done to help the wildlife of those planets.

I hope she doesn't mind him dropping the air of professionalism after the first couple holo-letters, because he's someone who, if he likes your vibe, becomes very personable and comfy in his interactions with others. And if her flirty side starts to show in her own typed messages? Oh boy, he's going to take that opening to be his overly cheesy self!

When there's any window where they can meet in person, he's jumping at the chance and boy howdy, he's stunned with how pretty she is! Has to actively tell himself not to get lost in her eyes as they're talking. He's not one to get flustered easy, but you'll definitely notice a blush on his cheeks as she talks about the things she's passionate about. Dott very quickly accepts that he's done for, and is perfectly fine with that.

Also, I'm glad she's patient, because this boy doesn't know when to stop with his terrible jokes and cheesy one liners lmao

After their in person meeting he really wants to expand their interactions. Vid calls when possible and, if by some miracle his limited free time allows it, wants to stream Huttball games off the net together 💗 Eventually Dott will almost casually mention at the end of a letter just how much he cares about her and is thankful for her. He leaves the next move up to her and is fine with any outcome, so long as he doesn't lose her friendship completely.
