#//Adelinde is the only one; because he's the only one he can truly never say no too

The only person who has actually seen Kaeya's right eye after the immediate treatment post-Confrontation is Adelinde. He adamantly refuses to let anyone else see under it, especially those like Jean or Diluc who knew him best. The thought absolutely makes his gut churn. He would do anything to make sure no one catches sight of his eye if he can help it. Anything.
#hc; kaeya#//Adelinde is the only one; because he's the only one he can truly never say no too#//If she wants to check up on how his eye is; he'll only ask they move to a room where they can be alone to do so#//Jean's tried to convince him to let her see it after she got her Vision and realized its healing properties#//He adamantly refused#//Let the healers see it only ONCE; & their reactions made him genuinely consider if he should let them get away with the knowledge of it#//Spun up some tale why his eyes were mismatched & the burns as awful as they were to stave them off#//But from that point on; would NOT let them see it. If anyone was treating his eye; it would be HIM and HIM alone#//Is probably why it didn't heal up as well as it could have under their care. Can still sort of see; but nowhere near as clear as the othe#//Most of the folks who treated him and saw his eye left with Varka. He has lingering paranoia of what they could say abt him to Varka#//He's even snapped at Klee for trying to see; having been playfully trying to steer her away from taking the patch off#//Then just Panicked when he felt the string loosen. he felt so awful afterward; esp with how she'd burst into tears#//Anyone trying to or being perceived as trying to take off the patch WILL get a nasty strike of frostbite#//Which is why it takes a MASSIVE amount of trust to touch even that side of his face#//He esp doesn't want it seen immediately after using Abyssal energy; its influence is VERY noticeable there in particular#//Diluc is the one he'd loathe to see it the most; but not over a grudge; he's worried that in the (High Unlikely) case of him still caring#//That Diluc might blame himself for how the injury resulted. And/or try to 'help' with/talk abt it. And Kae doesn't want that at ALL#//There's also a lingering fear that Luc might in fact say the opposite and allude that Kae DESERVED the scars/affliction#//Which Kae wouldn't contest (nor does he think Luc is cruel enough to); but it Devastate him to hear it nonetheless#//Kae'd rather live in a permanent limbo wondering how Luc would react than actually find out; thanks#//Not even other Khaenri'ahns like Dainsleif are exempt; bc he doesn't want to say his usual cover story for the burns#//Wouldn't be as believable to the likes of them compared to the other Mondstadters

GENSHIN MANGA SPOILERS! but honestly if you haven’t read it by now it’s your fault alone
So why did Kaeya initially try to hurt Collei?
The obvious answer- he was trying to defend Mondstadt, Collei was a very suspicious figure at the time, and he knew that being aggressive towards her would probably draw out her hidden powers and reveal herself as the culprit of the Black Fire incident.
But there’s more to it than that.
Kaeya canonically loves, LOVES kids. He adores them- there’s lots of times in the game where he talks about how precious childhood is and how he wants to protect the purity of childhood dreams for as long as possible before kids have to grow up and face the real world (kinda similar to Childe). In 3.8, it shows how he is literally willing to do anything to protect a child- Klee, when he literally throws aside his own sibling issues in order to shield Klee from being exposed to the same thing and scolds a couple of bickering brothers for upsetting her.
Additionally, there’s his whole thing with Mika and how he’s basically a big brother figure to the entirety of Mondstadt’s population under 17. The highly implied bond between Bennett, Razor, Fischl and him, even.
Anyway this whole aspect of his character obviously stems from his own childhood and how tainted it was by his hidden identity, so like he probably doesn’t want any other kids to have to go through such hardship especially while they’re still young.
So if he loves kids so much, and wants to protect them so badly, why did he not hesitate to become a full blown villain against Collei, literally wounding an innocent 12-year old girl?
Because he sees himself in her.
Collei hates herself (or at least she used to LOL). She hates the burden (her powers) that was forced upon her from a young age, and those powers inevitably label her as a bad person, one who can harness evil powers to kill And hurt and whatever. It makes her feel like she has no real control over herself, and that she has no self-identity- she doesn’t think of herself as a regular person, instead a monster. And she hates, hates, hates herself for it, but she shoves all of it down under a mask.
Sound familiar to a certain cavalry captain?
That’s why Kaeya didnt hesitate to Go after her. He knows her too well, knows that she’s hiding her true identity under a well-crafted face, that there’s something evil and dark in her- because that’s exactly who he was as a kid.
But then this panel happens.
Tumblr media
Collei, evidently so tired of living such a torn life, gives up and offers her life to Kaeya just so that the torment can end, which stops Kaeya in his tracks, because that’s when she reminds him off himself just a little too much.
Kaeya, so caught up in her uncontrollable evil, forgets that she’s just a child, one who never should’ve been forced to deal with such a thing, and certainly not want to die because of it.
That’s exactly what happens internally to him, as well. Over the years, Kaeya internalized being a traitor so much, that often he convinces himself that he’s truly not a good person. Yes, he acknowledges that it’s really not his fault, but that still gets lost and it shows through when Kaeya shows us how willing he is to get himself harmed- because of his self hatred, he places so little value in his own wellbeing and his own life, because he thinks that all harm that comes to him is deserved and that it’s better off if he’s dead anyway so that he doesn’t have to deal with being torn apart every day.
No I’m not making this up, it’s in how he literally covers for Diluc all the time and risks himself in the process, and how Adelinde told us about that one time Kaeya literally took Diluc’s punishment for himself when they snuck into the wine cellars. There’s lots of times, even throughout in the game where Kaeya tries to convince us he’s not a good person- he quite literally says that, at some point.
Only when Collei shows that she’s in the exact same position does Kaeya realize what he’s doing and stops himself. Only then does he remember how painful and hard it really is, and he ends up helping to save Collei and removing her powers, because that’s one burden he can help take off, unlike his own.
Idk man for me the Kaeya vs Collei fight (I like to call it the chapter where collei gave us the hottest panel of Kaeya choking ever) told a story about Kaeya’s internalizations, too, and his own-self hatred and how deep it really goes. BRB CRYING

Another little prequel to the "Jean marries the Khaenri'ahan 'prince'" AU, which I have told myself I cannot write until I finish the Open Hand sequel, but which continues to rotate in my head regardless.
---
In the wake of Ursa's attack, Jean does her best not to intrude upon Diluc and Kaeya's grief. She writes them both letters, hoping, in her private heart of hearts, that they'll be willing to ask her for comfort, but all she receives in return is a polite thank-you from one of the servants for her condolences. The message seems clear: they prefer to be alone together. It's been years since Jean has let herself be jealous of their private bond.
Kaeya's resignation arrives at the Ordo the same day, a brief, unusually terse note in his elegant handwriting pinned to his folded uniform jacket. The writing on the packaging is also a servant's, neither his nor Diluc's, and it's another servant from the Dawn Winery who delivers it, as he had the thank-you note. Jean is disappointed but not surprised. Diluc has never taken back a declaration, no matter whether made in anger or not, and Kaeya has always followed where Diluc leads.
Any temptation to trek to the Dawn Winery regardless is sidelined by new duties, as the Grand Master assigns her an investigation that it seems has been long coming. They plan it in secret at first, for if the Inspector is truly a traitor, he will surely try to hide his activities once he knows. The Grand Master tells her he'll write to the Ragnvindrs to let them know she's on the job. Jean hopes that will comfort them--that they'll have enough faith left in her to believe she can redeem their father's name, whatever they think of the Knights.
The day after the Grand Master sends that letter, Diluc writes to her, asking her to come visit at last.
When Jean arrives, he's pacing through the vines closest to the Winery's entrance, a shadow over his face. He looks up almost in surprise when he sees her and strides over, shoulders relaxing in a way she wants to believe is relief. Though his expression clears, he doesn't seem quite able to smile.
"Jean," he says, and that *is* relief, almost a sigh. "Come inside."
He starts to beckon her to follow as he turns towards the manor, then catches himself and pauses to hold out his arm. Jean, about to fall in beside him as has been her habit, hesitates a moment before taking it. They're not both captains walking side-by-side about the Ordo anymore. He's acting as the master of the Dawn Winery should towards a guest. For the first time, it truly feels like he's not just on leave, like he's truly not coming back.
Swallowing down the lump in her throat, Jean takes his arm and lets him conduct her up the hill and into the manor. He leads her straight into his father's office. It's a mess, completely torn apart, every drawer open and papers spread all about. She can't make out any purpose to the disarray.
It's almost, but not quite, enough to distract Jean from the absence that's been itching at her since she walked through the gates.
"Where's Kaeya?"
Diluc lets go of her arm like he'd been burned, the shadow falling back over his face. "He left."
"Is he running an errand for you?" That fits neither the words nor the expression, but it's the only explanation Jean can imagine regardless. Kaeya would *never* leave Diluc in such a state.
"No." Diluc turns away from her, starting to straighten papers. "We fought. The night that Father died. I- he left that night. Adelinde found his jacket and the resignation in the morning."
His voice has gone completely flat, the way it does when he's exhausted or overwhelmed. The way it used to so often be, before Kaeya came into his life. Jean feels a chill.
"What was it about?"
"Family affairs." The flatness gives her no clues, no cracks to wedge into.
"I'm sorry," Jean says, because however he might sound, she can see how stiff his back has gone, the way his head is bowed over the papers he's ruffled just to straighten again. "You could have asked the Knights to help find him. I'm sure he couldn't have made it entirely out of the country in one night."
"They would have had to drag him back like a criminal. I considered it. But if he wanted to leave, I wasn't going to stop him." Diluc sets the paper and turns back to her. "I burned him, Jean."
His expression is as flat as his voice, betraying nothing, but the tension still thrums through him. He has his shoulders thrown back and his chin up like he's facing the Grand Master for a disciplinary hearing, ready to defend his decisions but braced to be penalized. Jean thinks of his Vision, thrown down with his jacket when he stormed out of the Ordo despite being unarguably his own, and her chest aches for him.
Long ago, before Kaeya had ever arrived, when he'd first received his Vision, Diluc had accidentally burned her. It had been in a fit of temper, but it had been an accident all the same; she remembers the surprise on his face, the shock turning to horror when he realized she was hurt. He still winces when he sees her with her shoulders bare, even though the scar has long faded to nothing but a faint smoothness of her skin. He's never once let his temper flare in flames again. Either the fight had been *that* serious, or-
Or he'd been in pain, overwhelmed by grief, and his control had slipped. That seems more likely. And Kaeya, who had only ever known Diluc's ironclad control, might have taken it as more than it was.
"Badly?"
"Not badly enough to keep him from leaving," Diluc says, almost sharp, and then adds, "or to make Adelinde insist when he brushed her off. No worse than we might get from a hilichurl skirmish."
Jean relaxes. That's not bad at all.
"If he left the country, there would be a record, either at the Stone gate or at Dornman Port. I could check them both," she offers. Surely Diluc will want to know--and she wants to know, herself, even if she's sure he wouldn't have gone so far. The reassurance would be welcome. "I'm sure he doesn't hold the fight against you now that he's had time to calm down. He may be concerned that you're still angry-" Diluc has always held a grudge "-but if he's reassured in that regard, of course he would come home."
"No. I know he left Mondstadt. He said as much. And if he had stayed, he would have gone to you."
Diluc says that with such immutable certainty that Jean is almost warmed by it, before the first part of the statement sinks in. Another chill goes through her. Whatever burns were inflicted might be preoccupying Diluc, but surely there was more than that if Kaeya had gone so far as to truly *leave*. She badly wants to know more about this fight.
Before she can ask, though, Diluc turns back to the papers again, this time picking up a stack and holding it out to her. "Along with the resignation, he left these. I suppose he thought I could use them. But since Grand Master Varka informs me that you're investigating Eroch, you can put them to better use."
Jean takes the papers, glancing through them. They're in Kaeya's hand. She recognizes names, senior members of the Ordo and its administration, and various notes about their interconnections, interactions with each other and Inspector Eroch, and various activities and behaviors that she reads with growing suspicion. None of it is conclusive, but it ties into her own investigation alarmingly well. What's here suggests that the rot has spread far beyond the Inspector himself.
"This is months- no, *years* of work," she murmurs, still flipping through.
"Kept secret the whole time," Diluc says, his voice flattening again. "For whatever purpose."
Jean looks up at him, catching a faint anger in the set of his brow and jaw. Truly, nothing here is conclusive; she can tell why Kaeya would have held it back. He's always liked to have every detail lined up perfectly before he executes a plan. But she can understand why Diluc would be angry, too. If the Inspector had been exposed sooner, so much might have gone differently. Given what's in here, and what she's starting to uncover herself, perhaps even their father's death might have been averted.
"Was this why you fought?"
Diluc hesitates a long moment. "In part," he says at last.
Her heart aches all over again for both of them. She sets the papers down, carefully, on an open spot on the desk, and steps forward with her arms out. It's been a long time since it was proper for the two of them to embrace each other as friends. But he's not a fellow-knight any longer, to be strictly professional with, and there's no one else here to worry about propriety. Diluc looks at her in confusion for a moment, then sighs and steps into her arms.
She holds him tight as he presses his face into her shoulder. He remains tense a little longer, then clutches her back, his shoulders shaking. Jean rubs his back and pretends not to feel the tears dampening her neck, or hear the strangled little sobs. He clings to her for long enough that by the time he composes himself and pulls away, eyes only a little red, she's been able to blink away her own tears.
"It will be all right," she tells him, taking his hands. "I'll make sure that Eroch and anyone associated with him are exposed for their misdeeds. And whatever has happened between you, Kaeya loves you. He will surely come home eventually."
"Perhaps," is all Diluc says. He swallows once, then slowly pulls his hands from hers. "If he does, he may come to you instead of Adelinde. I would ask you to be... cautious, around him. He has resigned from the Knights, so don't involve him in their affairs."
"Of course." She'll be as careful as Kaeya needs. "But what do you mean, instead of Adelinde? You'll be here. I know you regret fighting, but he will forgive you for it."
"I won't be here. I'm leaving." Diluc glances away. "The sorceress Alice wrote me to suggest that I travel. She was an associate of my father's, and he always said that her advice was good. It seems possible that her letter was... a hint."
"You're going to find Kaeya?"
"Not only that. There is evidence in my father's papers that the Fatui may be behind his death. I intend to pursue them and learn the truth of that." His hands tighten into fists at his sides. "Then I will deal with them appropriately."
The diplomatic ramifications of his statement arise immediately in Jean's mind. She should talk him out of that, or if she can't, immediately tell the Grand Master so that he can have Diluc stopped. But if Alice, who is so knowledgeable, has advised him- if the Fatui, whom the Knights can only grit their teeth and pretend to deal pleasantly with, *were* involved- if perhaps *that's* why Kaeya left, after all, and Diluc is merely misreading his flight, and might meet him on his path-
"I can retrieve your Vision for you," she says, instead of anything else that she should.
"No. I do know how it would look for a former Knight to go rogue in such a way. Whatever I feel about the Knights as a whole, I won't put you in that position. I'll travel under an assumed name, and it would be better not to fight in a way that could too obviously be connected to my service as a Knight."
Of course he's already considered all of that. Jean musters a smile. It's weak, because it's sinking in, now, that her best friend is leaving her behind. No, she corrects herself, trusting her to take care of affairs in his absence. He wouldn't have given her Kaeya's notes, and wouldn't be leaving Mondstadt to its own devices, if he didn't think she could root out the rot in the Knights and keep the city safe. It doesn't matter how lonely she might be without him when she has that trust to fulfill.
"Then travel safely, and take care," she tells him.
"Don't worry about me. Take care of yourself. You'll be facing dangers of your own."
"I will," Jean promises. "Write to me during your travels. If you let me know how to address my letters, I'll be sure to write back."
"I will," Diluc says, meeting her gaze, and Jean feels the weight of his statement. This declaration, too, she knows he won't take back.
She meets his gaze in return. "Good luck."
Jean tries to imbue in those words all of her love for him, how honored she is by his trust, her determination to handle the treason within the Ordo and all of the duties he's leaving behind. Some of that must come through, because he smiles, if faintly, in return.
"Good luck to you, as well."
That faint smile accompanies her all the way home, papers under her arm, new plans for the investigation forming in her mind and determination burning in her breast. It isn't much to hold against the loneliness of doing this alone, without her closest friends at her side. But her feelings are nothing compared to what both of them must be going through. Jean will be certain that there's a better, prouder Mondstadt waiting for their return, and that will have to be enough. That, and the prayer that they will, someday, return, alive and safe.

Could i request Diluc angst oneshot where reader and him get into a big disagreement or argument where Diluc makes them cry and feel really bad about themself so they go and end up hanging out with Kaeya a bit much cause he offered to cheer reader up and Diluc won't apologize. until he see's his s/o hanging out with Kaeya
I actually wrote 2 different versions of the ending for this, but this is the one I decided to go with! If you want the more angsty version do let me know.
Anyway,
Harsh Words
Diluc x Reader
Screaming. Yelling that could be heard throughout the Dawn Winery residence late into the night, heard only by the maids, the night security, and perhaps a late worker or two.
And of course, by the two individuals who held the voices.
It was rather unusual for the two of you to be at odds; and, on the occasion in which you were, it wasn’t nearly to this degree.
But the two of you were outright screaming at each other. It wasn’t even about one thing anymore - it was everything. Whatever you had been arguing about had reached the point of irrelevance; It never should have reached this point and you knew that, but you were under fire and you couldn’t stop.
All you knew was that this was Diluc’s fault, and that you couldn’t take this kind of argument.
“If you just thought about your actions for once-”
You cut him off, “Oh don’t try me with that, you’re the one treating me like I’m an idiot and trying to control my-”
“If you had just listened for once and been less of a selfish bitch then I wouldn’t have to!”
His words had cut far deeper than either of you had expected, and you physically recoiled at the words, a sudden wave washing over you which forced tears from your eyes. The truth in his words was irrelevant - It felt true, even if it wasn’t.
You turn away from him. In spite of your state, he makes no move toward you. None, not even to give you the slightest feel of any comfort. You knew - he wanted the words to cut through you.
You go to the door and slip on your shoes, leaving the room as fast as you humanly could.
You can’t take this anymore.
But you don’t make it past the front door. As if by telepathy, Diluc has two of his night security waiting by the door in a stance showing you that they’re ready to make sure you don’t leave. They block your path, silent in their menace. When you turn around, only then do you notice Adelinde and Hille quietly staring at you. Diluc’s footsteps down the stairs are a slow horror, an even pace which served to only emphasize that feeling of dread; Very easily, this felt like the perfect time to be murdered.
The drawl of footsteps approach, yet cease a few meters away - he’s far too distant to do anything himself. His eyes lock on yours, quietly assessing you.
“Diluc, let me leave.” You hiss through streaming tears. You nearly choke on the tension in the air.
He doesn’t say anything for a moment. His eyes don’t show any expression, show any remorse or guilt, or even happiness. Truly, there is nothing in his eyes.
“Let me make myself clear: You are not leaving this premises in the middle of the night. Do you understand me?”
“Not even slightly.”
Silence. His eyes flicker, the way they do when he sees an abyss mage, or when Kaeya makes a comment that goes a little too far - pure anger.
“Adelinde, fix up the guest room.”
“No need. I’ll be leaving now.” You scoff.
Diluc tilts his head, peering over you and towards his security as if to say ‘don’t you fucking dare let them through’.
Then another look, and you feel yourself being pushed into the house again, the slam of the doors behind you.
A wave of anger washes over you, and you can’t help the excess of tears that fall, harder now than they had been before.
Diluc holds his ground, staring at you silently. You shake your head and look away, not sure what to do with yourself. Their staring puts you in pure disarray.
“Adelinde.”
“Yes, sorry.” She mutters, bowing and taking her leave in the direction of the guest bedroom in order to prepare it for you.
When she’s gone, you shake your head. “I’m not going to be sleeping.”
“Then stay in your room. I don’t care.” He huffs, turning away and wandering back up the stairs, his footsteps seeming less menacing now.
The argument was done.
Your eyes catch a light outside the window, seeming to exist a far distance away. Maybe it was the fire of a hilichurl camp.
What time was it? Surely the sun would be up soon anyway.
Fine. You would leave then, no matter what.
When you got to your room, you actually did manage to sleep. Not nearly enough; An hour was nothing in the long run, but it was still just slightly enough to not feel entirely exhausted.
Still, the sun was up when you arose, and you lay in the bed, uncertain as to what would happen when you left the room.
If Diluc wasn’t going to apologise, you wanted nothing to do with him.
So, after a little while of resting, it was a surprise to hear a knock at the door. You were summoned to breakfast. Nearly the entire time, you and Diluc sat across from each other - an oddity indeed considering he would always insist that he wanted you seated beside him - this time, however, you were as far from his as possible within the confines of the seated table. The usually empty seat felt hard beneath you, not softened by an everyday presence. Your usual seat to his right - where your plate had been placed before you had taken it to where you were now - was empty.
Neither of you could look into each other’s eyes. The silence, broken only by the light clinks of cutlery, felt burdenous.
You expected him to say something, anything really. You could barely eat the food on your breakfast plate, and without any words, you didn’t feel all too comfortable anyway. You let out a quiet sigh and stood up, tucking in your chair and lifting your plate to take it back to the kitchen.
“Where are you going?” Diluc’s voice was quiet but the harshness in it was unmistakable.
“I’m not hungry.” You looked down at the plate in your hands. “I’m going to Mondstadt.”
Diluc stood up suddenly, pushing back his chair and stepping close to you. The sudden movement caused you to shutter slightly, and he pulled back a bit. Still, he tore the plate from your hands and placed it on the table. “When you return, be ready to have a serious conversation.”
Oh.
You opened your mouth to speak, but then huffed and turned away. “Right. I’ll look forward to getting yelled at again.”
Diluc scoffed, “Stop acting like a petulant child.”
“I’m not doing this right now, Diluc.” Your feet are moving before you can even think about it. This time, as you approached the door, no one was there to stop you. You left with no present company to watch over you, and you knew that today was going to be a long, long day.
——
Mondstadt thrives with life, as per usual. Because of how bright and pleasant the place is, any spec of gloom is extremely obvious on a day like this.
You took to the adventurers guild to take some commissions. Maybe killing some hilichurls or slimes would take your mind off of it all, or maybe just delivering some needed materials to someone.
The entire time you had been speaking to Katheryn, you felt eyes watching you, but you didn’t want to make it obvious you knew. Alas, it was only moments later that you startled at the feeling of a hand on your shoulder.
“No need to be so surprised.” The familiar voice chuckles beside you.
“Good morning, Kaeya.” You let out a soft sigh, the exhaustion of the day before wearing into you. You thanked Katheryn and turned your attention to Kaeya. His eyebrows twitched and his expression shifted as he studied you.
“What happened?” He asks rather blatantly, eyes clouding over. “Was it Diluc?”
You took a deep breath. “Wanna join me for commissions?”
Kaeya scans your eyes. “As long as you tell me what’s wrong.”
“Come on.” You nod, wandering out of Mondstadt with him.
The slowly falling night brought you back to Mondstadt. You agreed to go to the tavern with Kaeya, a subtle kind of thank you for spending time with you today. It wasn’t like you were doing anything else anyway.
The tavern was already busy before you got there, people crowding around for a nights drink. You subconsciously step towards Kaeya as if shading yourself away from the crowded atmosphere and he is wary of your proximity. He draws you to his side, a friendly notion, and steps inside before you.
Charles waves at you both from behind the counter. Kaeya quickly orders a round of drinks and takes you to a table away from the bar.
“Hey, look who’s been dragged in.” Rosaria wanders over, quietly making soft chatter with you. It wasn’t unusual for the two of you to spend some time together.
Kaeya eventually wanders away, grabbing your drinks and bringing them back over.
Time seemed to dwindle away, the mindless chatter with your friends giving you more than ample distraction from anything else that might have been happening.
“Master Diluc! Didn’t expect to see you here today.” Charles’ voice rings out.
Of course, that wasn’t going to last long.
You lift your head slightly, tensing up. Diluc is scanning the room, twisting his wrist lightly as he speaks quietly to Charles; The words miss you. You freeze as your eyes lock. For just a moment you’re caught in that discerning gaze before he nods at you and turns back to talk to Charles. Kaeya draws your attention back away, and you slip back into your conversation, not wanting to deal with anything else.
“I’ll get another round.” Rosaria gets up and makes her way through the tavern, leaning over the bar and making another order for the table.
“How many are we on?” You ask, already flushed from the… how many glasses had you even had?
“Five.” Kaeya laughs, leaning on your shoulder. “But now that the killjoy’s here, he’ll stop us from having our well-earned fun.”
“I heard that.” Diluc scoffed, passing by you.
“Good.” Kaeya wraps his arms around your waist and pulls you closer to him, more out of a delicate affection than anything else. Diluc’s eyes narrow at his brother, who just laughs in response.
“Get your hands off of-“
“Oh don’t worry, brother. I would never keep them somewhere they don’t want to be.” Kaeya mocks. “You, on the other hand, can’t say the same.” Even with his words, he loosens his hold on you and leans back a bit.
Rosaria returns with your round, greeting Diluc casually as she slips back into her seat. Your pissed off boyfriend wanders away back to his work.
It clicks in your hazy mind that the only reason he’s here is likely because you are. You laugh at the thought, then clink your tankard to the group and drink.
As the evening wears down, many people in the bar until it’s pretty much only your group and a few others left there. Diluc lets out a soft sigh as he watches you, trying to soften that jealous pounding of his heart. He takes a sip of his own drink - apple cider, of course. He could never slam back drinks the way that your group currently were. Where had the hours gone?
Oh, no. How many drinks had you had? Whatever was next, he swore to himself that he would make sure that it was watered down. At this rate, you were pretty much welcoming alcohol poisoning with open arms.
Kaeya, wobbly as ever, decides to be the one to approach the bar this time (mostly because Rosaria was leaning against the table, head folded into her arms as she groaned). Diluc shook his head. “No, no. The three of you will drink this whole tavern dry if I don’t stop you.”
“Oh, I’m not here to get any more.” He leans on the countertop. “I just want to know what the hell you did.” Kaeya motions over to you. You’re just giggling at Rosaria’s complaining, leaning over and patting her on the head.
“I’m not talking to you about this.” Diluc leans back, crossing his arms stubbornly.
“Suit yourself.” He straights up. “I should probably get her out of here before you say something stupid.”
“I’m not going to be saying anything stupid.” Diluc shakes his head, looking over the list of all the drinks you’ve had this evening. “You’re all wasted.”
“And yet, you haven’t said last call.”
Seemingly to spite him, DIluc immediately does. He signals over to Charles to round up the remaining people. He knew to leave you last.
Kaeya’s laugh is enough to haunt him. “You make this right, Diluc.” He runs his finger over the counter. “Otherwise I will.”
“Get out of my sight.”
The cavalry captain laughs again, then wanders over to your table. He practically drags Rosaria back up, but she pushes away from him and made her own way to the counter - always a good spirit, she paid for her own portion of drinks and left. Being a nun, she probably didn’t need to use the money elsewhere.
Kaeya was two steps away from just carrying you out the door, but through his drunk mind he finds the clarity to understand just how absolutely inappropriate that would be to do, especially in front of Diluc. Alas, you lean on his shoulder as he assists your steps.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Diluc’s voice calls out, as if to stop you both.
“Usual billing.” Kaeya calls back.
“No, no.” You both look back at him. He shifts on his feet, eyes locking with yours. “I’ll be damned if you go home with him.”
“Then damned you are.” You roll your eyes, turning away.
He calls your name softly. “Step away from him. Come here.”
You take a deep breath. “I am so glad I don’t have to remember any of this.”
Diluc places a glass of water in front of you. “Drink this. You wreak of alcohol.”
“And you wreak of your hatred.” You sit down in front of him, knowing that it wasn’t about to get better.
Diluc’s eyes flicker up to Kaeya. “Get out.”
“Not happening.”
“Kaeya, this doesn’t concern you.”
“Their safety is more than enough concern.”
“It’s alright, Kaeya, just wait outside.” You pipe in, not wanting even more stress.
Kaeya agrees, quietly slipping out the door. Charles is told to escort him away, an act which may have varying success.
Either way, you sat in front of Diluc, not sure what exactly to say to him.
“I’m tired, Diluc. I’m tired of this. I can’t put up with-“
“I’m sorry.” He blurts out, interrupting you. “Please, hear me out.”
“I’m not going to remember-“
“Then I’ll tell you again when you will.” He leans over the counter, not wanting to be apart from you. He calls your name again, as if to hold your attention, “Can we talk about this?”
“I think we talked about this already.” You groan. “Yesterday, plenty of yelling. The Maids and guards can confirm.”
Diluc takes a long breath out. You lift the glass of water and take an even longer sip.
Maybe the barrier of the counter between you made you feel better. But, as tears sprung to your eyes, you felt so, so much worse.
“Do you hate me?” You ask, your voice squeaking. “Do you want to break up with me.”
“No, Y/N.” He reaches for your hands, but you had pushed your stool too far away from him beforehand that he couldn’t. He circles around the bar and gently grabs both of your hands, soft enough in his hold for you to be able to pull away. “Don’t ever say that. I love you.”
“Then, why?” You sob, turning your face away from him, hands still in his. “Why did you yell at me? Why wouldn’t you talk to me this morning?”
“I…“ Diluc stops himself, taking a deep breath. “I was angry. We were both angry.” He shifts, pulling out a stool and sitting in front of you. “I wasn’t acting rationally.”
“When you said you wanted to talk this morning, what were you going to say?”
Diluc hesitates, gripping your hands just a little bit harder. “I was going to ask… I was going to ask if you were happy.” He admitted, quietly. “But I can’t do that. I can’t put you through that.”
You tug him toward you, pulling his hands close to your face. “Why would you say that? I love you.” You sob into his soft skin.
He takes his hands away from your gently, slipping them around your waist and pulling you close to him, into his lap. He tightens his grip. “I’m sorry.” He repeats. “I’m so sorry. I never want you to cry.” He feels his heartbeat heavily in his chest, a distraught washing over him. “Don’t ever destroy yourself like this again.” He runs a hand over your back.
You don’t say anything. You’re way too drunk for many more coherent thoughts to pass your lips. You lift your head and plant a soft kiss on his cheek, and he softly kisses your forehead, pulling you back to his chest so that you don’t try to kiss him anymore - He wasn’t about to let that happen, you were far too drunk.
Diluc was ashamed of his thoughts. His guilt, rising only when he saw you in the present company of his brother, showing affection and finding comfort anywhere except for him. He didn’t want to admit it to himself, nor to you, but as you cried into his shoulder, he couldn’t help the wave of disappointment in himself that washed over. Why could he never be there for the people who needed him most?
“Come on, finish your water, let’s get you home.” He insists, though he holds you tightly still until you stir.
You take the water, sipping it with a slight indignance. He would have to apologize to you again in the morning, but he would do anything to get you to trust him again.

T, R, N and P with Diluc please?
the uncrowned king of mondstadt, diluc ragnvindr.
yandere alphabet via dear-yandere! revisions i made are flaky so. my bad wwwww
cw: dark content, physical abuse, kidnapping, confinement, claustrophobia, extremely unhealthy relationship.
Tumblr media
Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?
Just because Diluc may be attending to business elsewhere, does not mean you are free from his heady grasp. Distant yet coddling; his attentiveness is a curse just as much as it can be a blessing. You’re never without security, that much is true. Dawn Winery is his eyes and ears, every single servant wrapped around his finger, wrapping around and constricting you. Self isolation could never be a possibility, not when Adelinde ushers you out of bed without a minute left to spare, always in such a hurry, as if wallowing in utter boredom for days on end is anything of importance. From the very beginning, Diluc had made it a point to ensure your physical health was a top priority to those surrounding you; strict itineraries have maids silently mourning over their packed workload. A plethora of duties— take you on brief walks outside the winery, never longer than 15 minutes, feed and serve meals delicately planned and catered to your health, eyes and ears constantly watching, watching, watching. They keep you like a dog on a leash, no matter how pampered. They do so dutifully. They must. Who could possibly decline such a hefty pay at the expense of silence?
It would be a blatant lie to say your physical health had declined any whilst under his... care, however, the same cannot be said for your mental well being. He can’t, despite how much he hates his inability to do so, prevent your tears. And by the archons, do you cry. Diluc is unable to approach you some days, those days when the illusion of normalcy and domestic living he works so hard to put up simply melts away, when you can do little more than curl in on yourself and wretch into your silk sheets with a litany of tears flush in your eyes. He wills himself to allow you the mercy of a few hours alone, albeit with check ups and that blatant discomfort of his when you wail at the slightest touch to your shoulder. Of course, it’s a different case entirely when such cries are symptom of punishment— whereas Diluc will weakly attempt to comfort you with softened eyes when you work yourself up, flaky and visibly uncomfortable, his resolution is unflinching and unwavering should you choose to act out of turn. Wail, sob, beg and beg for mercy, for forgiveness, his mask of nonchalance will stay firm.
Tumblr media
Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?
No. Diluc is understanding that the situation he has thrust you into may not be ideal, he anticipates a lack of reciprocation and overall resistance, but he feels absolutely no guilt. In his eyes, this is for the best, the world is much too cruel— who better than him to make that judgement for you? Even if you do prove yourself to be capable of taking care of yourself, (with Diluc himself to measure up to) this Darknight Hero will find every minute, minuscule little thing to prove you otherwise. Just about every one of your shortcomings Diluc will try and use to his advantage, to put himself in a better light. Who else is as capable as he is, who else can prove themselves worthy of your companionship, your devotion, in the ways that he has? The longer you stay in his grasp, not that the possibility of leaving will come otherwise, the more difficult it becomes to prove him wrong. He feeds you with the utmost care, keeps you healthy, entertains you should you need conversation or otherwise, and provides, provides, provides. There may be a lack of freedom on your end, but really, do you have much room to complain? Without him, you may very well be dead. He ensures that point is driven straight to your heart, however many times is necessary until you grow compliant.
His will and rationality is fully reasonable, in his mind, hence why his wishes to keep you by his side shall forever remain solid. Perhaps it is the idea of you keeping close to him that entraptures Diluc so entirely, for he is a distant admirer. He would be contented growing old and without your touch, merely sharing your company for as long as life allows. All the same, he wishes to swallow you whole, skin, blood, guts and tears, if only to keep you with him. It is selfish, but he tells himself that is something of which he is deserving. He must.
Tumblr media
Naughty: How would they punish their darling?
Diluc is nothing if not dedicated to his goals, a driven man in everything he sets his mind to. In order to maintain the position he thrives in, he is forever alert, forever adapting, prepared for any strenuous situation thrown his way. Should you push past a line you are never meant to cross, jab at him a tad too harshly, well... it’s not as if he gives no thought as to how to keep you in line. Rarely are you knowing enough of his inner workings to be able to push him past the point of no return, a point where even you, his dearest, are not spared from his wrath. Emphasis on rare, for he is wholly tolerant and gentle with you, to an extent. Any person has a breaking point, and Diluc, despite his detached disposition and stoic attitude, can only withstand so much. He bottles up so much to remain composed, after all. When he snaps, he is unable to hold himself back any longer.
He is not one to take pleasure from the suffering of others. Lest they truly deserve it, is what he’ll tell himself, to at the very least maintain the illusion of normalcy. Sway not from the path of righteousness, forget not the splendor of dawn. His mind is able to concoct the most horrific scenarios he could possibly put you through, for he does the same with his enemies. In a way, when you act out of turn, an instinctual part of him, cultivated after years spent at the whims of the dangerous and unknown, sees you as just that— an enemy. He doesn’t often choose the more unsavory methods to keeping you in line, ie: beating or threatening you with his vision, further keeping true to said threats should you continue. Diluc is wholly capable of restraining the urge to simply slap the snark off of your face (he had done so regardless, once or twice), and much prefers isolating you on his own terms, away from everyone and everything, even himself. It’s a small room, not even on par with that of your shared bedroom, much more similar to a closet or crawlspace.
A room, but a cage all the same. Splintered wood floors, dank cobblestone surrounds you and few cracks in the stone leaves room for bugs of all nature to crawl through, allows the elements to rain hell upon you should you end up locked up during the harsher months. A lone maid, not even Adelinde, the head, attends to you, sparing meek glances should you call out when she gently places a meal of one roll, a piece of meat, and a few shoddily cut slabs of potato. No begging and weeping and screaming you may do will soften Diluc into coming back for you- again, his resolve is akin to that of steel, his will forever unyielding. He decides when you are thoroughly broken in, and when it is time to hold you in kind, he shines through like that of The Darknight Hero the people proclaim him to be. In the end, what is necessary is that he shows you how much better off you are when with him. He’s much too possessive and to a point, coddling, to ever consider discarding you into the wild and at the whims of hilichurl camps and abyss mages alike.
His hold is firm and grounding. Had he always been able to hold you with such ease? Had he ever truly held you in kind, as he does now? He’s warm. A familiar, comforting scent of smoke and acidic wine fills your senses and him, oh, him. He had left you, left you alone, all alone, in that room, not even a room, all alone, and yet you can do little more than gag and writhe and latch onto him with pleas of his name whispered hoarsely— ‘Diluc, Diluc, Diluc’. A cry of your savior.
He can’t look at you, won’t look at you. Won’t give you the mercy, but he couldn’t be angry. Not anymore. He holds you tighter and so flush to himself, with a ferocity narly shown to anyone but you, not in kind, not with this passion. You smell of dust, a husk of yourself. Faintly of his sheets, faintly of iron, of vomit, of filth.
Fresh memories of your betrayal burn hot in his mind. He’s contradicting himself. He cannot relent. It comes out as a whisper, barely even heard to himself, and he curses his very soul the moment it passes his lips.
“Strive to do better. Lest you want your time there to increase tenfold.”
Tumblr media
Patience: How patient are they with their darling?
He can bear with defiance and unwillingness on your part, to an extent. He can anticipate as much, for he is not delusional enough to fool himself into thinking your relationship is even somewhat typical to that of a normal couple, no matter how much he wishes that to be the case. No, for the initial few weeks of your captivity (he’s always gotten so mad when you refer to him as such, a captor) Diluc allows you to lash and sob and attempt to reason with him, attempt to soften him, attempt to hurt him. He’ll allow you to do so, but he himself remains impenetrable, unblinking, almost uncaring. He is prepared for about anything and everything, always expecting the worse possibilities as to save himself from further harm. For you, as well, he is constantly anticipating and observing. In hidden, minute little ways. It may even come as a shame to him if the fact that he enforces the maids to note down your every little move ever reaches your ears.
All in all, Diluc’s complete preparation for anything and everything you may throw his way makes him extremely patient, for better or for worse. Difficult to crack, impenetrable, almost— on one hand, the distance he keeps from you to accommodate for your lack of reciprocation may come as a blessing, but it makes it all too difficult to try and pester him into letting you go, to try and understand his goals and motivations in keeping you locked right away. Your complacency is inevitable, sooner or later, Diluc will begin approaching and weaseling his way into your routine in the smallest of ways, gradually and unconsciously causing you to grow fonder of his presence. It’s a slow process, one he had planned from the very moment his wishes of a domestic life with you grew much too much to handle. He loves you completely, yearns for your love, and for it, he will wait as long as necessary.
Blazing red eyes leer down upon you, your shame increasing tenfold for each second that passes subjected to that gaze of his. A fit of expaseration, you will admit, had sent the cutlery dear Hillie had so delicately prepared flying off of the white tablecloth and onto the hardwood floors, further staining the expensive rugs with wines and crumbs and oils from his favorite meal, a concoction of pasta and steak and cheese. He had prepared yours alongside with it, striking tonight as a tad more special than the rest. You didn’t blame yourself for what you did, not when he had proposed something as outlandish as marriage.
He keeps silent, leaning back in his seat, his throne, as if he were a king observing a mere peasant begging for mercy— quite frankly, you should be. But perhaps tonight he will be more lenient, you ponder, averting your gaze to the flickering embers sparking from the fireplace beside you.
He sighs, suddenly, worn and thoroughly put out by your antics, further embarrassing you by his facade of nonchalance. No, you could tell from the way his leather gloves creaked from gripping himself too hard, he was barely concealing his own anger.
“You hardly let me finish my scentence. Come, we’ll continue this conversation upstairs.”

They say all your senses and your feelings are heightened when you are broken and mourning.
You hear things more clearly like the tenderness of his voice because it’s better than listening to the drum of your heart.
You feel the sun, the air, and his gentle touch on your skin because you are trying to feel things instead of shutting down.
You smell his perfume and the scent of the pancakes he used to make- everywhere.
You still feel his fingers as though they are knotted through yours and it makes you cry.
It hurts.
It pains you.
This is the most tragic day of your life.
“Sir Diluc has.. passed away.” Jean announces, reaching for your hands and squeezing them in support. She pulls you inside a spare and lonely room in the Ragnvindr manor. Lisa is at her side, for extra emotional support, handing you a spare handkerchief as they break the news to you.
Your heart sank.
You were not the first to know. But, even if you were… there was no possible way.
You were a traveling adventurer in search of something that will quell your curiosities; disappearing for days or weeks on end. There were times when Diluc would come with you on your travels and the two of you would just go wherever your heart desires. Staying in Qingce Village and mingling with the elderly townsfolk, Visiting the Adeptus abode, strolling around Springvale or vacationing in the summer islands… there was nothing that could stop the two of you together.
As two of the heroes of Mondstadt from the Stormterror incident and his status as the esteemed owner of the Dawn Winery, you were famed and loved by all. Though as Diluc was not one for friendliness or casual interactions with others, It was all because of you that he had befriended some particular members of the Adventurer’s guild and the Knights of Favonius. You had even asked them if they could visit the Dark Knight hero at the winery from time to time.
Well, aside from the regular visits of Venti and Kaeya to satisfy their quench for wine, Jean accompanied by Amber and Lisa to ask for advice, uncommon visitors such as Klee and Albedo had even come by to accompany him now and show him their wonderful new experiments and discoveries….
You had given him a reason to have hope in the people of Mondstadt once again. His previous faction with the Favonius knights may have been imperfect, but Jean had proved to be amazing enough to rectify all these past mistakes that had eased Diluc’s resentment to the knights.
You continue to count back to all the things that he has done for you. As someone who’s had no home and who’s been traveling all their life, Diluc became your home. He had fallen for you and your wondrous soul. He was your living reminder that you can find home in a person. Someone who you can rely on, someone you will come back to after a long tiring day, someone who will love you for who you are and who will kiss your flaws away.
And now, he’s gone. Just like that.
You have been gone for three months prior to all of this as you were on a secret commission to fight off a huge group of treasure hoarders in Natlan. Although you were able to travel back to Fontaine shortly after, you had to wait for further instruction from the guild before you could come back to Mondstadt. At the time, the only thoughts to occupy your mind was Diluc who had been waiting for your return and your longing and desire to run into his arms and for him to kiss your tiredness away.
However, it took two agonizing days before Jean’s letter had arrived. All you could do was weep and worry endlessly at the inside of a quaint inn at the heart of the bustling and picturesque region that was Fontaine. Inside her letter were updated reports of Diluc’s disappearance; he had been missing for three days without telling the maids or any of the inhabitants of the mansion and the winery of his departure. He left without a trace…
As soon as the sun had risen that same day, you quickly left the region and made your way back to Mondstadt. With no knowledge or premonition that at the same day…
Diluc would be found.
On the road to Mondstadt, the staff at the Winery had been going on their merry day to deliver the wine to the city, when they came across a body. Battered and bruised. Upon closer inspection, it was their dearest master; the current head of the Ragvindr family. Further suspicion arose when a hoard of Fatui members had been defeated; lying beside the riverbend not too far from the manor. The Knights of Favonius had quickly deduced that Diluc had crawled all the way back to the outskirts of the Manor but had unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
From that day on, the sun had never shined again.
Your stomach was in knots. You had a feeling that something had happened and yet, you didn’t expect for it to be something like this. You didn’t expect to hear about the state that he was in when he was found.
He’s strong. He’s the Dark Knight Hero, One of the protectors of Mondstadt; Hell, he’s one of the most powerful vision users of the region.
Yet… how did this happen?
A knock on the door had brought you out of your trance. With a simple “Come in.” said by Jean, the guest in question was revealed to be Kaeya who peered out from the door. A forlorn expression plastered upon his face. His head turns and your eyes meet his, “(Y/N)... how are you doing?” His voice gentle and melancholic.
“N-never been better.” You remark in between sobs. “I-I need time to process this.” Wiping your tears with the handkerchief, you stand up, about to take your leave. “I-I’ll be in my room if you need me.”
“According to the Favonius accords, Sir Diluc must be buried tom-”
“To hell with the Favonius accords!” You snap, still trying to fight back the tears as the three knights stare at you in shock and in empathy. “M-master Jean… p-please. Just one more day. Before I have to say goodbye to him forever… Let me have one day to reminisce about him.”
The Acting Grandmaster hesitates, as if collecting her thoughts first before she speaks. “Very well. We will be arranging the burial and other matters in the near future. For now, please get all the rest and recuperation you need. Thank you for your time, honorary knight. We’ll see you in a few days.” Jean holds your hand and gives it another reassuring squeeze as she and Lisa watch your walking figure make your way out of the room.
Kaeya, who was still in front of the entryway, moves to the side to give you some space to make your leave. “Before the maids fully clean up his room, why don’t you tune in there for the night? I’m sure Diluc would love that.”
“He would.” You smile half-heartedly, the indigo-haired man giving you a reassuring pat on the arm. “T-thanks Kaeya. I will.”
“I’ll be staying in the manor for the rest of Diluc’s memorial if you want t-to… talk about him. See you around.” You nod at him before shuffling down the stairs to enter the manor wing that led to Diluc’s room.
Oh, how you wish you were as calm as Jean and as emotionally mature as Kaeya right now.
How are they able to hold up so well? How are they able to take this all in and not be on the verge of breakdown like you are? They’ve known Diluc since childhood. Hell, Kaeya was his adopted brother. His brother in arms. How are they able to accept his death just like that?
Are you just… not as strong as them?
You take a left turn around the manor wing that leads to Diluc’s room to be surprised by Adelinde who greets you in front of Diluc’s door, a torn and bloodied folded paper in her hands. “Honorary knight, we have a letter addressed to you. The staff at the winery found it tucked inside Master Diluc’s pocket. You might want to read it.” She gingerly hands you the folded piece, patting your hand gently once she places it in your palm.
“Thank you, Adelinde.”
You turn your attention to unlocking the door, fishing for the spare key that he had given you and inserting it into the knob, you hear the head maid speak behind your back.
“Whilst you were away, there was never a day that Master Diluc had not spoken about you with such love and praise. I hope you know in your heart how much he loves and cherishes you. As there was never another person in his life who he had loved the most after Sir Crepus’ passing.” She recounts, her voice is slow and meek. “Thank you for loving Master Diluc and for showing him what it truly means to be a part of a family again. The entire staff sends our deepest condolences and we will be here for you and Sir Kaeya whenever you need us.” From the side of your eye, you see Adelinde bowing deeply before she subsequently takes her leave and disappears into the hallway.
With a heavy sigh, the door clicks and you enter your beloved’s abode.
Not one thing has been touched. It still looks and remains the same.
His coat is still hanged on his wardrobe door, his usual button up black dress shirts folded neatly on one of the drawers, books that he’s read to you time and time again are shelved properly, a hearth in front of the bed that reminded you of your endless cuddles in front of the fireplace, his gloves neatly placed on his bedside table, and pictures of the two of you together in the Golden Apple Archipelago taken with the Kamera are hung on clips and strings on his desk.
It was like he never left.
Like his physical being had just gone off on a long adventure.
Yet, it feels so empty.
Because his soul and his presence is no longer here with you.
And it hurts. Everything hurts.
You take a seat on his bed. The mattress slightly creaks as you reach for an unusual piece of paper sticking out of his bedside drawer. Opening the cabinet slowly, your suspicion and curiosity heightens when what is revealed to be inside was a wooden box. Engraved were Diluc’s initials and letters that spelled out “Do not touch”
Curiosity overwhelming you, you gingerly open the wooden box to be surprised with folded letters written by Diluc that were all addressed to you. Along with the date and time it was made.
He wrote letters every single day. Hoping that once you came home, you could finally read them. Trying your best not to burst into tears, you carefully look through all of them and notice that they were all written during your absence. During those three agonizing months that you were gone.
Although his daily letters were short and simply written, he never fails to write to you an encompassing message at the end of the week. In each weekly letter, he entailed many things: Like writing to you about his day, how much he misses you, how much time has passed, and discussing particular things he found during his nightly patrols or interesting things about his day. He wrote letters to you as if you were right there with him. His words etched with simplicity yet full of love. He wrote these letters to be whisked away from a minute of his otherwise mundane life. And despite how uneventful they may be, he still shares them with you because he knows you will listen. He knows you will take your time to read everything. As even though the two of you may be thousands of miles apart, your hearts will still beat as one.
You finally find the one that he had written for you the day after your departure, and begin to read it’s contents. Preparing yourself for an overflow of emotions that you were not ready for.

As much as I hate to see you go, I realized that life has plans for all people. Even if those plans separate us from the ones we love. For the recent years that have passed, I have seen staff at the winery and maids in the manor come and go. And yet, I still haven’t gotten used to seeing you go off on your adventures. There are times I wish I could just be free of all of these responsibilities and come along with you on your escapades. But alas, I will presume that life is not for me. Always know that no matter where my life takes me or yours takes you, I will love you whether there are 1000 miles between us or none at all.
I miss you already, my love.
May the stars of Teyvat always shine upon us.

A week has come to pass since you left and I’ve been trying my best to keep myself busy. Kaeya has come to visit me and so has Venti, but they have done absolutely nothing to alleviate my boredom. In fact, they’ve all been a pain in the arse. When I tossed them into two of the guest rooms for passing out drunk, I was suddenly reminded of the times that you would wait for me at the Angel’s Share and help me drag Rosaria back to the cathedral, Kaeya back to his residence, and Venti back to the tree in Windrise. Then, we would take a night stroll around the city as the dwindling lights of the shops and houses being the only things illuminating our way. I cannot wait to do all of this with you again. It feels like the universe closes in around us whenever we’re together. But… the moment is so fleeting and you are gone again. The universe is awfully large and I am awfully small,  unable to hold the world with my hands. I just wish you were here to make me feel as if the universe is close enough to reach once more.
Good night, my love.
May the stars of Teyvat always shine upon us.

It is 9 o’ clock in the evening as I write this. Today, Bennett had visited and asked if I could train him to control his vision. I said yes as I had nothing much better to do. Fischl and Razor were there to accompany him as well. To be quite honest, they’re quite a convivial trio. It’s nice to see them remain free-spirited despite everything that has happened recently. I could not bear to remain as cheerful as they are amidst the constant abyss order and Fatui attacks. After our training, Razor had come up to me and told me that you and I are lupical. I didn’t quite understand at first, but with Fischl’s long and heavy explanation, I had come to understand what it meant: Family.
Perhaps… we can be a family? Have a family of our own?
Oh… wait. I know, it’s too soon. So, please disregard my wishful thinking for now. I’d like to apologize if that may have come out the wrong way.
Thank you for reading today’s letter, my love.
May the stars of Teyvat always shine upon us.

I finished a book I borrowed from the Favonius library today. Lisa said you've been eyeing the tome for a long time. However, since Ella Musk was borrowing it at the time and you had to leave shortly for your trip to Natlan, you never got the chance to. I'd like to apologize for having been able to read it in advance. Perhaps, I can read it to you once you get home? Maybe in front of the fireplace, blankets hugging us for warmth, and cups of hot chocolate in our hands? Anyhow, there was something I found interesting about it.
There are Sumeru philosophers who claim that the past, present, and future all exist at the same time. That there are parallel universes. It had me thinking, in another universe... Would we still be together? Will fate bring us together? Could there be more for us outside of this blue sky we share?
I'm sorry for making you worry. It's probably my insomnia kicking in. These past twenty days have been quite lonely without you.
Goodnight, my love. May the stars of Teyvat always shine upon us.

I can’t believe that January has finally come to pass. It feels like forever since you left. I know, I know, I sound like I’m sulking. But… the thoughts I had from finishing the book last week still have not left my mind. If only I could close my eyes and find myself in the place wherever you are right now. Kind of like…. What were those called? Waypoints? Yes! Those. Mayhaps, I should pay Sucrose or Albedo a visit and ask if they could make a portable wayfinder for me or a potion that can teleport me anywhere? Well, at least I have something interesting to do tomorrow.
See you soon, my love. May the stars of Teyvat always shine upon us.

The day you left, I went through all my old journals, frantically looking for the first mention of you. Searching for details I can no longer recall and any morsel of information that may have been lost. It honestly made me laugh at how different I used to think of you back then. You were always a kindred soul and yet, there was an eccentric air around you that I just couldn't quite understand. It was the good kind, of course. I have never thought ill of you since the beginning. Ever since the tragedy that befell my father, I would push everyone away from me. I told myself that if you didn't form close bonds with others, then you wouldn't get attached to them. They would be easier to let go and you could. But... you were the first who went out of your way for me. The first time you entered Angel's Share and challenged me to a game of chess solely because someone from the Adventurers' guild told you so? I knew there was something about you. Something wonderful. I wish to show you these old journals soon. Mayhaps you can get a clearer picture of my thoughts and impressions of others once you read them.
For now, all I can do is count the days until you are home once more.
Goodnight my love, may the stars of Teyvat always shine upon us.

People should fall in love more. Fall in love with how the dandelions blow with the wind, Fall in love with the safe and comforting feeling of being in the middle of a bustling city that is Mondstadt, Fall in love with the stars and the night that shines before us and Fall in love with the idea of being in love or loving someone. Having recently realized these things, I had the most spontaneous idea of wanting to get married in the Winery with you. In the future, of course. I know it’s not much. But I know you’re not the type to want anything fancy, so it’s the perfect area for the most beautiful moment of our lives to take place.
I had gotten a little too into the idea of planning our wedding and I aimlessly listed down those who will be attending. All our closest friends and family. Can you imagine Little Klee as the flower girl? Kaeya as the best man? Jean and Lisa as the maids of honor? Maybe we can even ask Eula to choreograph our wedding dance for us? Most importantly, have the wonderful honor of having the Lord Barbatos to officiate our marriage?
Once again, I hope you can pardon me and my blissful escapism. I can’t wait for the day to arrive where we can plan all of this and make it a perfect wedding.
As always, thank you for reading my constant rambles and inner thoughts, my love.
May the stars of Teyvat always shine upon us.

If you were taken away from me, this place called our world, I would cry.
Sighing, wringing my hands, and wondering why.
How can the archons and those up in Celestia dare to take the most precious soul in the universe from me?
But... what if I would be the one who would be taken away from you? Will you feel the same way too?

Please excuse me for everything I said in my message last week. I may have sounded somewhat selfish and I'd like to apologize for making you overthink when you already have so much on your plate. I cannot wait to mail out these letters to you, but the postal office in Monstadt doesn't deliver letters to Natlan, unfortunately. I guess I have to wait until you reach Fontaine. Putting those aside for a moment, something happened today that I wanted to share with you. Whilst I was feeding Noctua, I had realized something. What about the little birds who dream of flight? Those who gaze into the starry night and think that one day... they might be a part of that same sky? To be free, to explore, and to have the feeling of air and light coursing through their wings. Is... this the same feeling you felt before? Is this why you go on adventures?
I'd love to talk to you more about this once you get home. For now, all I can do is write you a letter and bid you goodnight.
May the stars of Teyvat always shine upon us.

Whenever I write a letter addressed to you, I feel a raw ache in my bones when the ink seeps into the paper— for I feel the bittersweet sorrow of wanting you to be right by my side, to have my fingers intertwined with yours, and to be exhumed by you because you have always seen past all my flaws and imperfections. I miss you. So much. At this point, it feels as if I have no right to. Tell me... is it right to feel this way? Am I being selfish for wanting the days to come by? For April to be in our midst? Can I blame the archons for wanting to have you in my arms again? There’s something happening next week, and to be honest, I’m quite excited for it. See you soon, my love.
May the stars of Teyvat always shine upon us.

Today is the first day of the Windblume Festival. How I terribly wish you were in Mondstadt right now. This would have been your first year and I know you would love the events. I remember when Father brought Kaeya and I to the festival for the very first time, and oh how my eyes were filled with wonderment and unshaken innocence. He gifted us a harp that day, and I still play it when I have time. It’s a wonderful keepsake with a lovely name, (The Windblume Ode) and it never fails to remind me of my father. I wonder if… Kaeya still kept his? Nostalgia aside, Venti caught up to me on the way home and told me I should see what he has in store for the second week of the festival. I know that the bard has a lot up his sleeve, but this particular encounter with him filled me with curiosity. What could it be? What does he have in store for me?
Before I end this, I bought you a bouquet of Dandelions and Cecilias today. They have a different color than the usual wreaths and posies, as these ones only bloom during Windblume. I placed them inside the vase on your desk just a few minutes ago. I do not necessarily have green thumbs, so please do not blame me if anything bad happens. I made sure that they’re still in season once you get home and I can’t wait for you to see them.
Goodnight my love, May the stars of Teyvat always shine upon us.

Once you get home, please do assist on reprimanding the bard for me. Can you believe he had tricked me into attending his love poem-making classes? Since a lot of the cityfolk have been dying to take writing classes under him and were willing to pay if he did, he had decided to take this opportunity to receive mora and “get rich.” Venti brags to the cityfolk that he will use their compensation for good reasons… but we all know he’ll just spend it wasting away at Angel’s Share. I won't let him pass me when it’s my hour to manage the tavern, of course. But… maybe one drink as a prize for all his hard work wouldn’t be too bad? After all, I did learn a lot of things from him. He was also quite smart for incorporating such an activity with Windblume. As during the festivities,  the people of Mondstadt offer Windblumes to Barbatos and to those they love and adore.
I spent all day being mentored and trained into creating “the most romantic poem written in Teyvat” I know Venti is bluffing and was just trying to soften me so I wouldn’t get mad at him, yet he was actually genuinely impressed with my poetic skills. I didn’t want anyone else to read it before you did, but he snatched the paper from my hands as soon as I finished so that he may critique it. I… didn’t expect him to shed a tear.
Here is the poem I wrote for you, my love. I hope you’ll like it.
“I wish one day, I'd be able to lay you down on a bed of roses with
the stars watching over us.
I wish one day we will be able to see the world together, to touch the stars and become planets.
After all, darling, stars, like life, is what you make of it.
I wish you knew how much I've loved you for all these years, so quietly, so loudly.
One day these roses will never compare to the redness in your cheeks, the softness of your heart.
One day you will see kingdoms rise and the sun dance on your eyelids.
And one day the moon will hang from your fingertips, waiting for you to refract your light and hope onto others.
You are an enigmatic being. A beautiful soul. Sometimes I think that you’re not from this universe.
You have enraptured my soul; my whole being. You taught me how to love.
Everything about you is out of this world and I am merely a human amazed by your interstellar presence as if you are written in the stars.”

I think I’ve gotten the hang of writing poems. I’m quite confident in my lyricism and in my writing now. So, here’s an excerpt of another poem I’m writing for you.
“I will love you through all the days and nights we are apart.
I will love you through every day and as the darkness turns to light.
It is four o’ clock in the afternoon and this is the hardest part.
But this is the way I love you, even if most days we are apart.”
That’s all for now. I’m afraid you’ll only see the final draft once you get back. I hope you’re having a wonderful time at Natlan. Take care always, my love.
May the stars of Teyvat always shine upon us.

I’ve been pondering about something again today. And It’s all because of Kaeya and Jean. They came over and we reminisced all day long about our childhood memories with tea and crumpets to accompany us. It was a nice feeling. To be able to look back on your childhood with such wistfulness. With such warmth. And with that, I realized something soon after: We’re young, but not that young. Some of the folk in Springvale are sixty-five and still feel young. Even Lord Barbatos feels young. Just because we have years ahead of us doesn’t mean our love isn’t going to last a lifetime. But… that’s the thing. We don’t have an entire lifetime to show love and affection towards each other and to others. Which is why we have to make the most of it. Live in the moment. Make the most of every minute that your heart is beating. Love endlessly. Be kind to others. That’s… what you always told me right? Even if we don’t have the rest of our lives to be with each other, I will still love you anyway. Every day, deeply, wholeheartedly, even if we are young and even if we are old. My love for you will be gentle, but fierce and bold.
That is all for now, my love. May the stars of Teyvat always shine upon us.

The words are melting in my mouth like snow, and I feel like I'm running on empty, but there are only 5 days until you come home. I have dreamt every night of the morning we are together again. You will be drinking dandelion wine and I will be talking about how the orchard will finally bloom. Then in the next few months, we can do everything we dreamed about. We can go around the winery, have picnics amongst the stars, walk around Mondstadt and go on adventures once more. Soon, you will be home, and I will watch the leaves and patiently wait for time to pass by  until we are together again.
But.. since I cannot wait no more, I plan to travel all the way to Fontaine to see you. I will not be telling any of the maids or the staff where I’ll be going. They would worry if I left again. This is all going to be a surprise and this letter will proof of that. I want to be beside you once more and I cannot bear to wait for five more days. I will be leaving at Dawn tomorrow! I’ll treat this as a little vacation. I rightfully deserve it as a treat for my birthday, hoping I can spend it together with you. Maybe… we can take a quick detour and go on a little adventuring? Just the two of us. I know you’ll be weary from your trip, but we can continue to stay at Fontaine but we can go once you’ve fully recovered.
I cannot wait to feel your warmth and your love in person again. See you soon, my beloved.
May the stars of Teyvat always shine upon us.

That was it. That was the last letter stored in the box.
You stare into nothingness, unable to find the words to say.
Tears began to form in your eyes, your vision blurring and your hands quivering at the thought of him. All these letters he’s written to you all throughout these months and the fact that he was planning to surprise you by meeting with you at Fontaine? It hurts you so much thinking of all the things that could’ve been. Thinking about what could’ve happened if this tragedy did not take place.
 “Diluc…”
You call out for his name. Hoping there is an answer.
 But… of course there isn’t.
Your hands absentmindedly graze upon the corners of the  bed when you suddenly remember the torn letter Adelinde had given you.
You open the letter with slight hesitance, noticing the dark stains that presumably came from Diluc’s torn and dirtied clothes. With a heavy sigh and as you dry your tears, you begin to read the letter.

Ever since you left, I felt as if we were breaking the whole world's heart. But... all this time, it was always the other way around. It was the world that was slowly breaking us.
Even in these last moments, I cannot fathom that I will be disappearing from this world without even seeing you again. It hurts. My body. There are bruises and wounds all over. My hands are trembling in fear and weariness. I can barely move my wrist and I can hardly think of the words I want to say. I feel the end is drawing near. Not for the world, not for you, but for me. Everything is caving in, my senses are slowing, my eyes are falling, and just waiting for the rest of my system to put me into an eternal sleep.
Would... time be so kind as to slow? Can the world stop for a minute and listen to my plea? To my call? A miracle to happen that could magically transport you to me? I w-wish we could have spent more time together. All these letters I’ve written for you these past few months… were they an omen? Was I foolish to think I could have a future with you? Is this the price to pay for having been separated from you for so long? Is it… still possible to attain it? The life I’ve always wanted with you?  Maybe in another world, we can.
We will share every innocent dream and talk about our fears. All your hopes and dreams. I will listen to the sound of your voice and the echoes of your soul. I will kiss your forehead, your knuckles, and your lips. I will stand by you in every new day even when people seem so unkind. I will join up all your insecurities, bundle all your flaws, and make them into a constellation so that I may find them and wish them away. I will do everything to make you feel safe. I will do everything to make you feel loved. There was never a day that I doubted you. You are everything to me, (Y/N). You are a free and wandering soul. I wish I could be behind you to support you wherever you may go, but alas, that fate is not for me. And… I think that’s fine.
Remain as you are. Continue to love others like you have loved me. Teach them what it means to live. Like you have taught me.
Please… don’t be sad. This is the momentary sadness to a new beginning, my beloved.
I love you to the stars and back.
I hope that in another world, our paths may cross again.
May the stars of Teyvat always shine on you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A heavy yet comforting feeling fills your heart as tears continue to stream down your cheeks. Folding the letter and putting it into the box amongst all the others, You clutch your hand to your chest, looking up at the ceiling.
“Diluc, my love… if you are out there. I will love you forever. Through all these months of my absence, you have never left my mind and I wish I could have been there  for you. I wish I could have given you the same amount of love that you have given me. There are so many things I wish I could have done with you. Every letter and every word you’ve ever dedicated to me will forever remain in my heart. These handwritten sentiments will be one of my reminders that you are still with me, no matter where I go. Even if it hurts so much, I will continue to live for you. Honor your memory. I will show the world that I have only loved one man in this lifetime. Thank you for everything.
You have now become one of the stars that shine down upon me. Soon, we will once again meet in the same sky and there, we will have our happily ever after.
 Farewell, my dark knight.”

You don't know where you came from and neither did he, but that question doesn't linger on for too long, allowing yourselves to enjoy in each other's presence.
He wasn't one to have an interest in taking care of children, but ever since he found you in a woven basket in Wolvendom, he made you the centre of his life.
"Diluc, I want to train today!" Barging into his office, you greet him an enthusiastic- yet loud- morning, slamming the door wide open to create a booming sound that Diluc no longer gets a fright out of. "Can we go outside today? Please, please, please?"
He looks up from his paper to eye your person before returning his attention to the paper. "We can go out today, but it will be to the tavern. I have something to do."
You pout and slumped onto a nearby chair, your ears slightly drooping down like the hybrid dog you are. There were few people who had an animal appearance like you and perhaps that might have had been the reason he was drawn to you.
"I said I want to train, not follow you on your errands!" head snapping up as you whined. Diluc slowly closes his eyes and sighs, quite tired from the work yesterday and the added work today. However, he knows how persistent you were and how you would get annoying by the day that even Adelinde starts to get a headache. With that knowledge, he stood up shortly and looks towards your petite frame.
Your eyes sparkled and a child-like smile forms on your face, knowing what he'll say next. "Did you have breakfast already?" Diluc asks, although it was nearly afternoon, and you nod almost immediately. "Then we'll go out and quickly visit the tavern. Afterwards, we can practise your archery." If he was going to shut you up while doing his work, this method was always effective.
You hop off the couch and rushed towards the red-head, grabbing his hand and allow him to lead the way.
Although he adopted you, he did not put himself as your father on the paper and asked of you to call him by his name only, but that didn't matter to you.
You bid Adelinde goodbye and outside, you took big leaps, excited to get on with archery. "(Y/N), slow down. You'll trip and then we'll fall," Diluc points out, slightly bending as he chases after you, trying to keep up in the light of your steps.
You slowed down, walking at a more comfortable pace. For you, stamina was everything but since Diluc wasn't a child, he couldn't go as fast as you wanted. "Sorry, Diluc."
However, throughout that walk, you did stray from time to time, sometimes letting go of his hand to peek what could have been hiding in rustling bushes. "(Y/N), come back here," he would say, gaining your attention back to his side.
Upon entering the gates, a particular someone just had to show up. "Oho~ Fancy meeting you here, Master Diluc," the all too familiar Cavalry Captain greets, souring Diluc's day. Kaeya's smirk stretched a bit, looking quite smug as his eyes move from him and to your petite stature.
"And good morning, (Y/N). Are you here to run errands with Master Diluc?" He asks with a close-eyed smile, ignoring the murderous aura coming from his brother as he leans down to your level, hands on his thighs.
You nod. "I want to learn how to charge my arrow like Fish lady!" you say with a gleam. Kaeya stares dumbfoundedly at you before finally realizing that you were referring to Fischl from the Adventurer's Guild. "Oh, I see That's some intense training, but I'm sure that you can pull it off." He ruffles your hair and chuckles.
"Sir Kaeya, as a captain, you have an awful lot of time to waltz around lazily," Diluc comments, his grip on your hand tightening, but not too hard that it would hurt. This comment's venom flies by over the aforementioned male as he chuckles, shrugging. "What can I say? I'm sure you're well aware that Grand Master Varka has taken all of my knights. Who am I supposed to captain?"
You mused at the two brothers' bickering silently and see that Diluc's eyebrows were twitching-- most likely from the annoyance his brother is giving him. "But as a knight, you should have at least something to do."
"I do, and that's speaking to (Y/N)," he says. "It is a knight's duty to make sure the people are safe and so, I am speaking with him to make sure he isn't being forced into training by you. You know how wrong that is, don't you, Master Diluc?"
"Tch. I'm well aware. And on that note, I believe you're more capable of doing that than I," Diluc crosses his arms as he spoke. It was getting to the point that your feet were starting to annoy you. Standing still was not something you like doing. "Diluc, can we go now?" You tug on the hem of his coat with your free hand and pouted slightly.
This got both of the brothers' attention and they looked at each other. "Apologies, but we have to go now. You know how children are," Diluc says, feeling quite happy.
"Aw, (Y/N), doesn't want to stay with me?" Kaeya pouts. You shook your head and smiled. "I want to train!" you voiced. Kaeya hums in acknowledgement. "Hm, I see. Then, I won't keep little (Y/N) too long. But promise me you'll play with me next time." He offers his pinky finger and you took it, lacing your smaller pinky. "I promise!"
After that, Diluc tugs you along lightly, not wanting to stay anywhere near the captain, heading towards the tavern to speak with a waited person. "(Y/N), you sit here, okay? Don't stray away." Diluc says and helps you up on one of the chairs outside. You nod, swinging your legs that dangle off of the chair. Diluc stares at you and shows a small smile, ruffling your hair, and then walking off.
You were left alone, but not truly alone as you see Diluc not too far from you, talking to a man who looked wealthy themselves. It was probably a business negotiation of some sort, but you were too young to be bothered by trivial matters that did not involve you.
"Hey, hey, look at him." Whispers. To an average person, they wouldn't be able to hear it, but you weren't, and so, you heard children whispering behind you. It was also evident that they were talking about you as you heard another whisper, "He has doggy ears. I want one."
You thought they would just talk like every other person, but that thought was dismissed when you hear light footsteps coming your way. You turned your head to look down at the other children. There were two boys and a girl. The girl was most likely younger than you and the boys were older-- older than yourself. They look like trouble, you thought to yourself.
"Hey, you!" The first one to speak was one of the two boys. He has jet-black hair and wore thick glasses. You hopped off of your seat and stare at them silently, waiting for them to continue. "Is that thing on your head real?"
"Uh, yeah, it is," you answered, getting off from the chair to have a proper conversation with them. It was a common question asked to you that you lost count of how many times someone came up to you and ask.
"I don't believe it," he voiced, crossing his arms and lookin smug. "Yeah, let us touch it," the second one spoke. Your brows slightly furrows. Who were these kids and why were they suddenly asking to touch your ears? Yeah, sure it was strange and not human-like, but who gave these kids courage to spew words like that?
"Sorry, but they're really sensitive.." you state, your brows slightly furrowing. "Oh, please. I bet you're just saying that because it's actually fake!" Without warning, he reached for your ears and tug it harshly and you yelped at the pain. "Woaaah! Did you glue it onto your head? You're so weird."
"Please, let go." You knew how much stronger you were compared to average children, seeing as you had a vision and was trained to combat and so, you didn't dare use force to get him to pull away, wrapping both of your tiny hands on the wrist outstretched to you. Diluc always reminded you to never harm others. "Please, let go!" you repeated, slightly louder than before. Water started to form on the corner of your eyes the more he pulled on your ears.
In response to your distress, your vision glowed and sent a tiny shock of electro from your hands that held onto his. It wasn't harmful, but just enough to make the kid hiss and stumble back. "H, hey, what did you do to him?" The girl reached for her friend, looking at the hand that had a slight purple to it from you.
And to make matters worst, an older woman came running towards you four, seemingly to be one of their mother. "What's going on here?" the lady asks. "Mommy, look what he did to me!" the boy showed his wrist with tears on his face.
With one look at it, the lady turns towards you. "Excuse me, do you have any idea what you just did?" "I asked him if his ears were real and he suddenly attacked me!" Liar. He was lying, but you had no one to back your claims.
She huffs. "How dare you! How would you like it if someone were to do that to you." She reached her long, slender arms for your wrist. "Where are your parents? I'll have them know how naughty you are." Grabbing your wrist, she tries and drags you from your spot.
"That won't be necessary." Just in time, Diluc came back with the same, glaring-like expression on his face. The woman's eyes widened and with a gasp, let's go of your wrist. "Master Diluc?" she calls.
Diluc looks at the woman and to the children, inspecting the wrist that had been bruised. He had heard the conversation from where he stood and sped up his meeting with the person.
"Tell me what happened?" he asks, eyes returning their attention to the woman. "Well, this brat here injured my child and I was about to look for his parents."
"Oh, really? (Y/N), don't tell me you've forgotten what I told you about using your vision?" Although when he asks this, he already knows the answer. You shook your head. "I didn't mean to hurt them, I promise! They were pulling in my ears and.." Your voice grew weaker into silence, drooping your head down, thinking that he wouldn't buy your excuses.
Diluc sees this and immediately kneels down to your level, putting a hand on your shoulders and gain your attention. "Hey, look up. If you know that you are in the right, there is  nothing you should shy away from," his voice was low and spoke softly to you.
Your eyes brightened up a bit and Diluc smiled-- not showing it though. He lifts you off of the ground, putting and arm under you for support as the other went on your back.
The lady was confused but most importantly, scared. "If you're looking for his guardian, you're speaking to them," Diluc spoke, eyes glued on you whilst the words directed to her. "But before you do that, demand the truth from your son." With that, he walked away, leaving the mother to ask what really happened while he comforted you.
You wrapped your arms around his neck and bury your face on his shoulders, trying hard not to let a single tear slip. You idolized Diluc for his skills in combat and his ability to never cry and so, you didn't like crying. It made you feel weak and nowhere near to become like Diluc.
"Hey, it's alright." He rubs your back, noticing your shaking body trying hard not to cry. "It's okay to cry, but don't cry for foolish people. You'll just give them what they want." In moments like these, you see Diluc as a father with his comforting words and life lectures.
You hummed and became silent. Yes, you can't cry for those types of people, you comfort yourself. Taking a deep breath, you peel yourself from his shoulders and showed him the smile that he would never admit he loves to see. A smile that gives others strength with the look of fire in your eyes.
"Alright, do you want to train now?" he asks, slightly smiling. You nod, but stopped yourself. "Wait, don't you still have other things to do?" you ask, to which Diluc ruffles your hair with his free hand. "Those can wait tomorrow. I could use some rest right now."

(My) Sanctuary;
Tumblr media
A/n: First Ever Fic for Genshin Impact Fandom. A fic no one asked for but the idea was living in my head rent free, so what's a girl to do except play more Genshin Impact and work on this fic. (Listened to Sanctuary & Don't think twice by Hikaru Utada while writing this -- hence my inspired and very unoriginal title for this fic because I am horrible at thinking of titles.)
Genre: Mostly Fluff really, a pinch or two of Angst.
Warning: Implied underage drinking. Brief description of Violence. Of age drinking.
Summary: Childhood friends with history. Unspoken feelings. Mutual pining. Circumstances and life have forced you and Diluc on different paths, but you always return to Mondstadt and Diluc always makes time for you.
Word count: 3,128
The busy streets of Mondstadt. How long had it been this time? The absence of your presence from these cobblestone paths; four, five? No. Six months. Commissions to fight greater, fierce foes across Teyvat demanded your blades and lightning. Not that it mattered much how far or long you ventured from your former home. There was only one person who meant a great deal, important even if you could not sort through all the emotions attached to him in your own heart or even dare to give voice to those emotions.
Diluc Ragnvindr.
And despite the inner twisted, festering turmoil (of your own making) cradled in your heart for Mondstadt, Favonius Knights, The Fatui 'diplomats'. Diluc was always a reason to return.
In fact you aren't at all surprised when you stop by Good Hunter, offering up a handful of Mora for a meal. Sitting down at a table, closing your eyes. You took in a deep breath, the air here felt different to you. Thanks to the Anemo god, Barbatos. You swear it truly is the sense, embodiment of freedom that fills your lungs and soothes you even if for a few seconds.
A savory blend of mushrooms, chicken and noodles is your lunch for the day. After thirty minutes have passed since your arrival in Mondstadt. And Diluc is sliding into the chair across from your own, elbows on the table, arms folded. Crimson eyes silently taking in the features of you.
"Hm. You're slacking. That's ten minutes later than before, what took your little informants so long to whisper in your ear word of me being back?" You don't even spare a look at him, taking another bite, chewing a mouthful as you wait for his reply.
"I do have a winery to run and the protection of Mondstadt to ensure, I can't not always come rushing away for personal affairs." Diluc holds a evident edge of underlying frustration in his smooth voice.
Your own gaze trails up and over him, taking in the exasperation and exhaustion that furrows the brow of his otherwise stoic expression-- you want to ask when he last got a full night's rest? If he was still doing his lone warrior, Darknight Hero routine? If he was as stubborn as ever shouldering the burden of his fervor desire to defend and protect. Oh, how you worry, worry and worry the weight of it all on your tongue, tightening your throat-- who takes care of you? Who stands by your side? Who defends you? Who protects you? Who lov-
Once upon a time it had been you but a vortex of mourning, sorrow, rage swallowed up your old life. Until you wanted nothing more than to never see the walls of Mondstadt ever again. One day leaving it all behind. Time was a cruel mistress, one day swiftly grew to years. The first time you returned from what would become regular disappearances--adventures.
Damage had been done. Diluc was the one who reached out to savage your friendship and you had welcomed the chance to have him back in your life even if it would never be anything more.
"Should I be honored that the gentleman Ragnvindr can even grace me with his company?" It's a hollow jest as you pick at your half eaten plate of food.
"No," His dismissal of the notion is soft yet firm. "Just Diluc, a friend, who is glad to see you well again." It's never his straight-forward or blunt nature that catches you off guard, it's when the subtle but clear sincerity creeps to the surface. Open, unwavering in his honesty.
You huff, looking down feigning disinterest yet the twitch of your lips is undeniable. Warmth, simple, gentle curls in your chest. Happiness. Flickering embers outside of the stone walls of your heart that would make Rex Lapis proud. Diluc had always been able to slip past your defenses, so easily lingering in your thoughts, in your heart. Whether he was aware of it or not.
"I suppose I am glad to see you too. Saved me a few bottles of my favorite wine?" You ask glancing up to catch his watchful gaze, biting your bottom lip as a wide smile threatened to spread on your face. Dulic's sudden raised eyebrow says it all-- do you really need to ask?
"Four pristine bottles of aged mixed sunsettia, valberry wine." Prideful is subtle and delicate in his voice as if Diluc would ever forget your favorite wine. Funny enough to think about how even as the unspoken king of the winery industry, he doesn't enjoy alcohol himself. Still keeping a stock of your favorite in his manor.
"You never let me pay you and we can't really share a few glasses together, so," you hum, slowly wired up with nervous yet excited anticipation as you reach down into the bag hanging off your shoulder. Shifting through the items and materials you carried with you for cooking and crafting you find it! Grabbing a slender jug of a bottle, wrapped in cloth. Swiftly placed on the table in front of Diluc. "I brought something for you."
It's not like grape juice is such a hard find or something Diluc could not afford himself with his abundance of wealth but you had commissioned a famous brewer to make a special blend of grapes and other berries to create a rich and sweet juice. With your own Mora to spare after a few jobs, and you had a feeling your wandering would lead back to Mondstadt.
Diluc is steady, slow with peeling back the cloth to stare at the deep, dark purple liquid filling the glass bottle. Uncorking the bottle, Diluc takes a whiff, closing his eyes, the smile that graces his face. It's everything and so much more. "It smells delicious. Thank you, I can't wait to taste it."
"Then we should begin our walk to the manor? I can hear my wine calling me." You leave a few Mora coins as a tip, standing up, Diluc presses the cork back into the bottle and hands it back to you for safe keeping.
"Alright," Diluc nods, following, matching your stride with ease. "Adelinde was asking about you the other day, you know she always makes sure your room is tidy, spotless in fact."
Stupid. How one little phrase has your stomach full of crystal flies like you are a teenager all over again. And the mention of the kind maid who still fusses over Diluc and you on occasion makes you happy. It is a nice reprieve from nights of solitude, you are content to travel alone but loneliness is a creature that waits, and waits until the right moment to sink its claws and fangs into you on the road.
The walk from Mondstadt isn't far but you aren't expecting a fully pleasant and peaceful walk with Diluc. Outside of the gates of the city and a few minutes down the dirt road, the sight of Hilichurls is predictable.
Small pack of fighters, five Hilichurls carrying clubs and one hulking Mitachurl with a shield. This should be fun.
"Make sure to show me how playing the part of the nighttime hero has kept your skills sharp!" You yell with a laugh, grinning as you summon your sword, forged of dragon bone, jagged, fierce blade. Rushing forward you dodge past the throw Pyro slimes.
You let yourself run a little wild, your Electro vision surge through you, bolts of lightning crash down on the charging Hilichurls. Shocking and stunning the monsters for a moment, that's all you need to unleash a flurry of fast slashes.
A loud, enraged howl, crashing stomps approach from your back. Anyone else would need to worry or doubt--you don't. The familiar roar and rumble of flames fills the air, the scorning heat of it nipping behind you. Diluc doesn't even let that Mitcahurl so much as graze you, his grunts and shouts clash with its growl and howls as his flame imbued blade breaks and burns through the beast's wooden shield. Leaving ashes flying in the air and the heavy smell of smoke and fire.
You electrify the Hilichurls, slowing, paralyzing the small beasts until they are left vulnerable and weak against you. The perfect targets. You cleave one's head off, stab straight through the mask of another, impale the chest of another. Delivering killing blows with precision and force. Wiping them out, you turn in time to see the beauty of Diluc.
Rapid, graceful, relentless, ferocity embraced in unyielding flames. The towering giant Hilichurl is left staggering, stumbling under the strikes of Diluc's claymore left all too unprotected without its shield to hide behind. Diluc turns up the heat quite literally, the soaring, blazing phoenix that emerged from his own vision and will, his flames destroy the Mitcahurl, wiping out its pitiful existence effortlessly.
Diluc shakes a bit of lingering flames and smoke off the steel of his blade with a sweeping slash at the air, standing among darkened, black grass, a gust of wind sways his hair and he looks over his shoulder. It is surely a moment deserving of immortalizing in portrait, his bright red hair blowing in the wind, holding his greatsword in one hand, sunlight giving him an ethereal glow, gazing at you.
Giving a slow applause, you whistle and laugh. "Flashy as ever, Diluc."
"The pyro element leaves little room for anything else. Still it's efficient and powerful," Diluc turns to face you, letting go of the hilt of his sword as it vanishes, unneeded outside of battle. "However, it's not something you could critique me on, when anyone for miles could see your lightning."
"Fair enough."
Besides a few stray slimes, the rest of your walk is undisturbed, reaching the winery as nightfall, the sun dipping below the horizon.
"(Name) it is good to see you well." Adelinde smiles upon seeing you as Diluc opens the front door and holds it open for you to walk in first. She hugs you, it's hard not to melt into her tight cradle.
"Have you been eating well? Sleeping accordingly? Not just naps. Taking breaks in between all your monster hunting?" Her lovingly stern questions always feel comforting in a way that is odd to describe and felt deeply.
"I am still standing, Adelinde, fully rested and my stomach is full at the moment."
"You would do well to keep it as such." Adelinde levels you with a motherly look of if you do not take care of yourself, I will which should be hard to make look threatening but the older woman handles it with years of expertise. She has worried over guests, Diluc, Kaeya, you for many, many years in the pact and many to come you are certain.
"Adelinde, please have the bottles of sunsettia, valberry wine brought up, we-"
"One step ahead of you, Master Diluc. Hillie and Moco brought them up a short while ago, I hope you two enjoy your time together." Adelinde leaves the manor, you aren't sure what work needs to be done on the grounds, you know for a fact Adeline specifically tries to do outside chores during daylight hours. It's an obvious tell for someone who knows her, she is ensuring you and Diluc remain alone for now. An avid supporter of your friendship you suppose.
Diluc barely gets to call out a 'thank you!' as she is shutting the door.
You stroll across the room, not much has changed at all. Your destination is the furniture set by the fireplace, the small, round table paired with two cushioned chairs. Pulling out the bottle of juice to place on the table top next to the bottles of wine, to cups awaiting you both.
Pouring your first cup, you are eager, excited to taste the almost sickeningly sweet flavor of the wine. It never seems to taste the same from any other winery or brewery or even in the company of others.
Moments of comfortable quiet drift by as you slowly, steadily sip and savory the wine.
When Diluc takes the first taste of your gift and his low moan of approval as he swallows. Oh. You could listen to that again and again. All husky, raspy delight that sends shivers down your spine. It feels good to bring any kind of bliss to Diluc, even the simplest kind by providing him a drink he loves.
You get the mutual feeling of being watched as you drink, sighing and smiling at the taste, the feeling of nostalgia creeps up on you.
"I remember the first time I tasted this wine. We were barely teenagers sneaking down into the cellar. I badly wanted to try the wine everyone in Mondstadt wouldn't shut up about," you recall it interrupting yourself with short, full breaths of levity. Far too amused by the memory to contain your laughter. "I- I asked. No- begged you to come down with me while your father was gone, saying I'd bring Kaeya instead if you didn't come, bluffing and you got as red as a flaming flower, grabbed my hand and pulled me all the way to the cellar and downstairs."
Diluc huffs, crossing his arms over his chest, leaning back into the cushions of the sofa. "You knew how to push my buttons too well, half of the stuff I let you talk me into was completely foolish." Staring into the lit fire as he listened to you.
"Just half?"
"Fine. All of the escapades I let you drag me along on were absurd."
"Your welcome as I recall you had a lot of fun."
"At the risk of a lot of trouble, you tested the lengths of even my father's generous patience." Diluc shook his head, the fondness in expression was plain as day.
"Oh, remember the night after getting my gliding license, I dared you to join me on top of the cathedral to see which of us could get farther across the city, and you landed in a bush!" Several glasses of wine, one empty bottle of the tart and sweet berry alcohol and you felt even more relaxed, comfortable in the company of Diluc.
"I, at the very least, remained dry. You were the one who crash-landed right into the fountain." Diluc smirked, sharp, sly as he chuckled, lightly tugging and adjusting the fabric of his gloves. Idle gestures as his cup stays on the table after a few sips.
"I would rate my dive undoubtedly ten out of ten." By the Archons, it had been a miracle you both escaped from the knights of Favonius night patrol with the commotion you made, wet leather boots on stone top made you slip a few times in your dash to escape discovery. Diluc had kept a firm grip on your arm, tugging you back up and refusing to leave you behind.
Then you remember, hiding away, pressed chest to chest, the chill of your soaked clothes clinging to you, the rise and fall of heavy, labored breaths. How close Diluc had been, that smokey, fiery scent that having pyro vision gifted him along with faint aroma of fruit thanks to the orchard of the dawn winery, he worked with his father on occasion. If you had just tilted your head up, leaned in--
"I know Kaeya was always jealous. I could talk you into anything but you refused his antics left and right."
"It's different. I actually like you and spending time with you." Diluc's deadpan response pulls a ugly snort-laugh from you. His relationship with Kaeya is an odd one but you know deep down he cares for his brother even if things aren't exactly civil between them.
"I feel so special."
"As you should, I don't like people." His sarcasm, that is half-joke, half-truth keeps you laughing.
The first wave of tiredness hits you, letting out an involuntary yawn. Your travels, the trek and fight from earlier catch up with you. Combined with the consumption of alcohol.
"I think the wine is getting to me, I feel a little sleepy." You finish off your glass with one gulp, smooth like silk down your throat, the lack of burn makes it far too easy to want to empty all the bottles. Four. You'd certainly regret that in the morning.
"I noticed." Diluc gets up first, three steps towards you, he is holding out his hand to you.
"I can walk myself, I am not that drunk." You protest his offer while reaching out and taking his hand, entwining your fingers without a second thought. Diluc gives your hand a squeeze, his slender fingers lightly caressing the back of your hand. He guides you upstairs to your room as if you don't know the way by heart as if your room would ever change.
"You would never ask for help yourself and you did break a vase the last time, even the smallest bit of intoxication seems to make you clumsier." Diluc gives his clear and absolutely unfair opinion. It happened one time!
It is really not necessary either to open the door for you, letting go of your hand only to press the large, warm palm of his hand against your back. Nor does Diluc need to kneel before you as you sit on the edge of the bed, unfastening your boots, removing your satchel and placing your belongings on the bedside table.
"It is hilarious to hear you of all people, calling me out of not asking for help. Mister Darknight."
Dliuc 'tsks' at the mention of his beloved hero name. "I am aware, that can be a little hypocritical."
"A little?"
"(Name)," Diluc speaks your name so tenderly, softly, as if the word itself is precious. "I simply want to help you, to car-" He clears his throat cutting off that train of thought. Pausing for seconds of silence pass, crimson eyes staring into your own. "If there was anyone I would accept help from it would be you."
That is dangerously close to an admission of something else. And all every moment of the past, all the maybe(s), what-ifs, almost(s) flash through your mind. You could take the leap or let this become another memory to turn over and over in your head, wondering, wanting, yearning.
"Get some rest." Diluc walks over to the door, standing in the open threshold of the room, hand gripping the door knob.
"Diluc, wait" It's barely a whisper, so hushed and subdued. So low, he doesn't hear it and when Diluc looks over his shoulder, the short-lived courage in you has diminished and you can't bring yourself to voice all the longing, desire, love trapped in your heart.
"Goodnight, Diluc."
"Goodnight, (Name)."

Alright, first things first. Since I was asked so kindly by that other anon the other day, I shall give some more Ragvindr/Alberich sibling content. This won’t be the only content I submit tonight, but I’ll number asks that go together separately.
So, first off, I would like to just put it out there that it’s no coincidence that this particular darling is so especially naive, stupid, innocent, and vulnerable to becoming the perfect prey for a yandere. Oh no. You were raised with that outcome in mind. That’s right, it’s due to the way daddy Crepus raised you when you were young, raised all his kids really. He looked at his sons, both bio and adopted and just knew they would grow into fine yanderes and trained and guided them as such, but you, you could never. From the minute he first held you (whether that be when you were born or when he first adopted you) he knew you were too sweet to be anything other than the perfect little darling. So he raised you to be oblivious and affectionate, to not know how to do much other than basic cooking and household chores, to not question things too much, to rely heavily on him and your brothers. It was all to prepare you for your future yandere (which he secretly hoped would be one of his sons, and thus he may or may not have planted some ideas into their heads about that before he died; reinforcing in them how sweet and innocent their little sib is, how they need to be protected from the world, for her own good, how any other man would simply corrupt them or be unable to care for them properly, the way they deserve to be cared for, how only they were worthy of having their sib’s perfection)
Now picture this, you are Diluc’s bio sib, but leave the Winery after Crepus dies. Maybe you go with Kaeya specifically, maybe you don’t, maybe you just didn’t want to be alone in the Winery while Diluc went on his years long quest for vengeance. Either way, you don’t live there anymore, and while it kills him that he abandoned you and thus ceded ground on winning you over to Kaeya, there’s not much he can do at this point. Meanwhile, even though you don’t live with Kaeya, (haven’t yet been kidnapped by him) you did indeed grow closer to him while Diluc was gone. Close enough that he feels completely comfortable asking you to come with him to some big party for some important holiday in Mondstadt which is being hosted in the Knights of Favonius HQ, as it’s the only building big enough. You’re so innocent you think he merely invited you as his sib rather than the date he truly intended it as but he’s willing to allow you the misconception for a little while longer. He knows that soon there will be no room for doubt, or refusal, of his intentions. Of course in your daily letter to Diluc (one of his many conditions for allowing you to continue living off of the winery grounds) you mention the party and Kaeya’s invitation. Jealousy burns within him when he reads that. He doesn’t know what exactly Kaeya’s planning, but he knows that traitorous bastard will ruin you. So even though he dislikes parties and loathes the knights, he resolves to go, to protect you. In the meantime he starts looking into things he can do to bring you back home with him where you belong.
Time-skip to the day of the party. You show up with Kaeya and you’re having a good time even though you’re hanging off his arm nearly the entire time because you don’t know most of these people. You apologize to him that you’re keeping him from enjoying the party, but like the good big brother he is, Kaeya replies that he doesn’t mind at all and in fact couldn’t fully enjoy himself if he didn’t know you were safe, and the only way he can confirm that is if you are right next to him at all times. “After all, you never know where danger could be lurking, can’t be too careful.” He says with a grin. Meanwhile, Diluc is in the corner of the room lurking, gritting his teeth as he watches this snake with his oblivious sib on his arm, unaware of the danger they’re in. You don’t realize Diluc is there, he never told you he would be and you know your brother hates parties so you had no reason to think he’d be there. Kaeya however knew the other was there from the moment that you two arrived and is absolutely loving the fury and jealousy he can see on his face. He dances with you, hugs you, wipes a bit of food off your face, all the while making sure to remain in clear view of Diluc so he can taunt the other with your closeness. But then someone comes up to Kaeya, telling him he’s needed for some urgent Knights business. He sighs but then guides you over to a corner (the one opposite from Diluc’s unbeknownst to you) and hands you a drink. Telling you to just sit here and drink that and don’t move, he’ll be right back.
(1/3) 💌 anon
From here we have 2 different routes. I’ll start with Diluc’s. Even though Kaeya told you to just sit and drink your beverage, you've already finished it and you’re bored. Surely exploring and mingling can’t be too bad so long as you stay within the party room right? So you put your now empty drink down and start to wander around the party. It doesn’t take you long to spot a very familiar shock of red hair and quickly go over to the other corner to greet Diluc. He smiles slightly as he sees you approach. He was about to go over to you himself, but it seems you’ve come to him willingly and saved him the trouble. ‘What a good sibling you are.’ he thinks to himself as you finally reach him and give him a bright smile, saying how pleasantly surprised you are to see him. You chatter to him about the party and how much fun you’re having, so distracted by your story telling that you don’t realize he’s subtly leading you away from the party hall and towards the back entrance of the Knights HQ. Right by the entrance he turns to you and says, “It’s awfully late. You’re normally in bed by this time aren’t you? I know this is way past the bedtime you used to keep back home.” You didn’t realize until he said it, but come to think of it, you are rather tired. “I’ll take you home then.” You start saying about how you don’t want to trouble him and how you should at least wait for Kaeya before leaving so he doesn’t wonder where you are, but you barely get through half your sentence before you fall into your brothers arms, fast asleep. When you come to, you're tucked into what you recognize to be Diluc’s bed back at the winery. He’s sitting at his desk a few feet away from you, and turns when he hears you wake. Your memory is a bit fuzzy, but Diluc tells you that you fell asleep while he was taking you home yesterday so he simply carried you the rest of the way back. You thank him but question why he didn’t simply take you back to your apartment in Mondstadt, when that was certainly closer than the winery. At this he gets up and comes to sit next to you on the bed, gathering your hands in his. “That’s not your home anymore. It never was. It was always here at the Dawn Winery. And it always will be.” He says gently. You’re about to question what he means by that when he continues. “I was looking through Father’s old papers the other day and found something interesting. I didn’t realize it at first, because this paper wasn’t filed with the rest of his will, but upon his death he left complete, total, indefinite custody of you, to me. Meaning, I have been entrusted with the responsibility of taking care of you, forever. And as your older brother, protector, and primary caretaker, I don’t think that it is a good idea for you to continue living in Mondstadt. You’ll be moving back into the Winery with me so I can watch over you, as Father wished.” You try to protest but he simply shushes you and kisses your forehead before getting up and walking to the door. “I know it is a sudden change but I promise you’ll soon come to see that it’s for your own good. Now, I have some important errands to run. You just stay here and rest and try to adjust, alright? If you’re good and don’t try to escape while I’m gone I’ll ask Adelinde to make your favorite for dinner.” And with that he exits the room, locking the door behind him. As he walks down the hall he thinks of all the things he has to do today. He needs to bring all of your things back from your apartment, buy you some new, more suitable clothes, start trying to get those anti-incest marriage laws repealed (a well placed donation or two to the right people should get the ball rolling on that front), and then thank Kaeya for drugging your drink last night. It really saved him a lot of trouble.
Now for Kaeya’s route. Obedient thing that you are, you don’t think to question or disobey your brother’s order. Yes you’re a bit bored, but just thinking about how worried Kaeya would be if he came back and you were missing has you staying in place, just watching the crowd and sipping your drink as asked. (Unbeknownst to you, Diluc attempts to approach you at this point but is mysteriously blocked by some of his business partners who desperately need to talk to him). As you sit though, you find yourself growing sleepier and sleepier. You close your eyes, only intending to rest them for a few moments, but when you open them again, you’re resting on a bed in a completely different room that you do not recognize. Suddenly the door opens and in walks Kaeya who smiles at finding you awake, before closing the door behind him. “Well good morning sunshine!” He teases before his expression changes slightly, gaze tinged with concern. “Do you remember what happened last night?” You try to recall, but doing so makes your head hurt, so you tell him no. He walks over to sit next to you on the bed and promptly wraps his arm around your shoulders, his free hand grabbing one of yours. “Well apparently you weren’t paying close enough attention to your drink sweetheart. An agent of the Fatui snuck into the party last night. They recognized you and drugged your drink when you weren’t looking, intent on kidnapping you to use as blackmail against Diluc and I. I came back to you barely conscious, about to be escorted out of the party by that shady agent. We of course arrested them, but we thought that it would be safer for you if we brought you to my apartment here in head quarters. It’s certainly better protected than your apartment and we didn’t want to risk them trying again.” You don’t remember any of the events described, but Kaeya has no reason to lie to you. You’re obviously horrified at what almost happened and begin simultaneously thanking your brother profusely for saving you and also apologizing for the trouble. He chuckles “Any amount of trouble is worth it if it means you’re here safe in my arms.”
But then his face drops into a minute frown. “I am a bit disappointed in you though. I thought you could be trusted to look after yourself for a little while, but clearly that is not the case.” The disappointment in his voice has you fidgeting and ready to start frantically apologizing again, but he cuts you off before you can. “I’m not mad. This happened partially because of my mistake. I should have known this would happen. You’re just not responsible enough to take care of yourself. You need a man to take care of you. That’s why Father left you in my care in the first place.” You ask him what he means by that and he sighs. “Well, in his will Father left not only full and indefinite custody and responsibility for you, but also your hand in marriage, to me. I wasn’t going to claim either of those things, as I thought you should be given a chance at independence. But as last night showed, clearly you aren’t capable of that, so I’m going to fix my mistake and do what I should have done years ago and take care of you properly.” You start trying to protest but Kaeya’s grip on your shoulder tightened and the increased intensity of his gaze shut you up. “Now now, are you really going to try and fight me on this? I gave you a chance at self-sufficiency. It’s not my fault that you couldn’t handle it, now is it? I know this is upsetting but I promise it’s for the best. You trust Father don’t you? And you trust Big Brother Kaeya? Then trust our judgement and just listen and obey me ok? I promise if you do that, everything will be alright.” He plants a kiss on your cheek, then gets up and heads to the door. “Now I have some things to take care of, so just sit tight. When I get back, we can start looking through some catalogues for wedding dress styles you like.” He says with a bright smile, before closing the door behind him. As soon as he knows for certain he’s out of earshot of the door, Kaeya laughs to himself. His plan went off without a hitch. He’ll have to go thank Albedo for that drug later and he can’t forget to visit Diluc. The expression of pure rage on his face when his older brother saw him taking their precious little sib to his room was absolutely delicious. ‘Wonder how spectacular it will be when he receives his wedding invitation?’ He thinks idly to himself as he exits his private wing of headquarters.

Words of Affirmation
does your muse like giving compliments?
Loves giving compliments. He's well aware some people won't think them genuine, but he'll do so anyways. He'd scarcely leave a compliment left unsaid once it's come to mind, especially if he particularly adores the person they're directed at and they are more receptive to his words. But above all, he knows many people thrive off praise, so he will oftentimes carefully observe what it is they would most value praise of and compliment them accordingly. That way, even if they don't believe him the first, second, or even seventh times, at the very least, they know someone recognized their efforts. If he does get a favorable reaction from the get-go, he himself will thrive and feel quite happy for the rest of the day, more so if he sees his words left a lingering impact.
how easy is it for your muse to say ‘ i love you’?
It used to be. Those of the Winery, particularly Diluc, Crepus, Adelinde and Elzer, even Tunner at times, had all gotten at least one 'I love you' per day from him. They were important to him, so he made sure they knew at all times and never forgot it, the INSTANT he was comfortable enough saying it.
Nowadays, he finds it much harder to say. Be it to significant others or even those closest to him, like family. He chokes up even saying it back to Klee, when she'll happily give it out, like he used to. He can't help feel guilty about it each time he tries and fails to get it out. He won't stop trying to, but it's hard.
Because he thinks he might jinx himself if he does. Thinks if he does, he'll wake up like it were all a dream and break his own heart over it. Worse still, fears if he does, the gods would punish him and find some way to take that person from him. Sometimes, he's so anxious enough over those three words that his brain will spark the idea that he's being a liar, and doesn't truly mean it ( even if his heart damn well know he genuinely does, he never loves by half measures ).
Showing how much he loves them however, comes far more easily. Devotion is what he can give most, himself and his efforts and strength to that person without the slightest hesitation. Which is what he will default to and hope his feelings can come across until he can finally bring himself to voice his feelings.
what is one compliment your muse is dying to hear? && what is something your muse loves being praised for?
Putting these two together, because ultimately it's the same thing: That he's reliable/trustworthy. Compliments on his looks, he's garnered plenty over the years that responding is practically reflexive. Trying to directly praise his work and efforts for Mondstadt make him squirm uncomfortably. But that, he considers the highest praise. To be useful to someone, to have helped them and to be considered someone they can turn to anytime, ESPECIALLY if he's the first person they regard in such times, that he truly IS someone they can trust...after all's said and done, he treasures it greatly. May question why in their right mind they think so at first and joke about it aloud, but ultimately, even after the initial doubt's ebbed away, he'll find himself not only the happiest man in Mondstadt, but also far more fond of them as a result. And more inclined to give them more of himself in turn.

Quality Time
what is your muse’s ideal date night?
It's never feasibly going to happen to long as Diluc and his relationship stays the way it is, but Kaeya truly wants to treat any significant other to a day at the Winery. Give them a personalized spin about the place, not just what guests and/or business partners would receive. But a real tour of the place he wishes he could call HOME again, complete with showing off his childhood hiding places, and ways up onto the Winery roof to point out the clear skies, for cloud watching or stargazing. To have dinner there and introduce them to Adelinde, not as head maid of the Winery, but as the closest person to a mother he'd ever had. To make them feel just as much at home and part of the family as he once did.
Otherwise, his most self-indulgent want is helping his partner up onto either the palms of the great Barbatos statue, or atop the Knights HQ works just as fine too. Either way, he WILL find a way bring snacks and blankets up there to cuddle up under for optimal stargazing, and loves the idea of guiding his significant other's hands in pointing out constellations or celestial bodies of note. Especially if he recently gleaned their constellation from Mona and decided to try and look for it for them. He'll even study/freshen up on Rtawahist learnings as an extra something to impress them with. He'd be so eager and giddy to share all he knows with them.
how comfortable is your muse with prolonged eye contact?
Not terribly comfortable, but that’s just a byproduct of him being rather particular about his eye and the star at its center. Wouldn’t do him any good if someone decided to do a little digging and learned a little too much about him. The last thing he wants is to gamble how well they'd react if they knew. And he knows that reaction would crush him far more than Diluc's ever did.
That and…eye contact gives him away so easily. Kaeya feels and even almost fears that his partner would be able to discern every last secret he has, the very depths of his feelings ( towards them, and just in general ), through his eye. It took him ages to perfect liar and facade he is today, but his eye might give him away no matter what he does. He’s always posturing and moving for a reason, playing up ample potential distractions however he may find them to keep their focus elsewhere.
does your muse prefer conversation or just sitting quietly with their s/o?
Outside of delighting in hearing his significant other ramble about anything and everything at all, Kaeya thinks sitting quietly together is better, in general. When it comes to deeper conversations, many tend to think him a liar and sweet talker as is, so he’d rather let his actions speak for him instead. At least until he is comfortable enough. That, and words were once not his strongsuit, so sitting in silence is a nice, safe way right to nostalgia. To let him open up just a little easier, as he'll feel safer to like this, a certain vulnerability he won't panic in the face of showing. As he'll give and accept careful little touches of his partner, embraces or playing with their hair, he’d do damn near anything to show his devotion once he’s sure enough with them over the course of that quiet moment. He will aim to make it unmistakable just how much he treasures them, no words necessary.
is it easy for your muse to devote their full attention to one person at a time?
As easy as it is breathing. He will outright shift his focus entirely and stand by their side the instant they make it known they want his attention. It doesn't matter what he was doing before, the moment they gesture for him or let their gaze linger on him, he will find his way back to them.
In general, his attention is usually divided between the one he's speaking with and the surrounding, always taking in and observing, but his significant other or otherwise someone important to him are a surefire way to get him to zero in and block everything else out for at least a moment, unless he decides otherwise based on what they want of him.

Physical Touch
does your muse like being hugged?
By only a select few. He hates physical contact overall by anyone else ( even if he won't immediately recoil for sake of keeping up appearances ), but those he seems closest and safest, he will not only let them touch and hug from, but he will actively go out of his way to embrace and do so tightly, as though he’s scared he’d lose them if they let go. Then brush it off like he were playing a silly joke on them, like testing how strong they are.
where could someone touch your muse to calm them down?
His hair in particular relaxes him the most, particularly gently threading fingers along the back of his head, from crown to the nape. Though it tends to make him a little sleepy if continually touched, even after he’s calmed down. He will be more inclined to lean on and snuggle the person doing so.
The second is a very particular one ONLY for significant others who’ve earned the sufficient trust and right for it, but it’s gently cupping the right side of his face. With the patch on or off, Kaeya will MELT into the person’s touch so easily, it’s not even funny. Coupled with soft words, one might even get Kaeya’s smiling facade to crumble entirely, just enough to receive in turn a teary look of sheer adoration and the raw feelings he’s held locked inside himself for so long. It’s damn near enough to break him, after so long of masking himself behind his little grins and silver-tongued words. Which is why…
is there anywhere on your muse’s body they want to be touched most?
…THAT^ is the place he wants to be touched the most. He WANTS that tender touch, WANTS to show himself as vulnerable, WANTS to be him, truly HIM, in front of his significant other, but he needs a little help with it. Any other time, movement toward that side of his face is met with a sharp flinch or a clear grimace he can't hide so easy, and for good reason.
But once that 'barrier', so to speak, is breached, it’s far easier for him to do so. Bc that is his ultimate display of trust—because once it’s given, his defenses come crashing down before them at the slightest touch. Once he’s sure he can allow them that and sees how they treat him at his most vulnerable, is assured they truly accept him, nothing else matters. Not his fear of the gods and what could go wrong, not that he may be deceived or could be hurt so easily, now more than ever—nothing.
does your muse find themselves subconsciously seeking out physical contact? ( ie. reaching for s/o’s hand without realizing it )
When he’s in love, it is achingly so that he longs for their touch. He’d find himself reaching for their hands, wanting to pull them close. He will linger on and think abt places they’ve held or touched him at, even if briefly, kisses they’ve left on his skin, wishing they’d leave a mark so he wouldn’t feel the loss as they head off wherever it is they’re going or as they turned they’re attention away from him. He can’t stand physical touch from most anyone else, can allow it from select few with little to no negative reaction, but with them, he’s utterly starved for it.
