cd /opt/
git clone https://github.com/thanhquang99/Docker
Tiếp theo ta cần chạy file Docker compose
cd /opt/Docker/Graylog/
Docker compose up
rotation_strategy: Chiến lược xoay vòng chỉ mục (ví dụ: count, time).

# journalctl --disk-usage Archived and active journals take up 344.0M on disk. # # systemd is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it # under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License as published by # the Free Software Foundation; either version 2.1 of the License, or # (at your option) any later version. # # Entries in this file show the compile time defaults. # You can change settings by editing this file. # Defaults can be restored by simply deleting this file. # # See journald.conf(5) for details. Read the full article

Note to Self:
You for some reason have to occasionally manually remind Ubuntu to delete the logs in "/var/log/journal"; if you fail to do this, you will face the following consequences:
$ journalctl --disk-usage
=> "Archived and active journals take up 4.1G in the file system."
okay so basically fuck you
To delete all but the latest 7 days worth of logs:
$ sudo journalctl --vacuum-time=7d

Peki Nedir Bu Bullet Journal?

Garden Report 20.04.26
Most the day was cold drizzle and grey then WHAM broiling sun. Feeling very cagey after a morning of being denied purchasing non-essentials. Went out to the garden to examine damages and shake my bad humour. Rat trap not sprung, bait gone, more damage to elder. Examined sacrificial lettuce I put out hoping to draw pest way from the badly attacked brassicas and the boogs ignored it! Ignored the lush little lettuce leaves and continued with their sadistical maws on the near lifeless stumps of brussels sprouts and broccoli. I don't think they will survive. Miracles do happen in the garden but I don’ t think this is it. In the lean to, moved out peas to harden off. Zucs have bust through the soil. Even with slug bait, they managed to some how pick off another basil. One basil seedling left. Not feeling real pleased and getting more annoyed as that I can’t get up on a ladder today and the person that was, flaked on me. So I’m walking around under the kiwi and just looking at the massive destruction the birds are doing. Tight little blossom buds and they are ripping from the vine, snipping them in half, throwing them down. They are always angry when they do this. A whole flock of house sparrows come swooping in, bicker, fight, shove, destroy and in mass, leave. Every. Day. WTF?! Then I think, I can go to the front and clean up after other people’s dogs and really get up-tight.or finish with the refurbishing of the gooseberries’ bed (I had to extend the bed wider and longer as they had rooted onto the logs and sending out rooted joints, removed massive buttercups and bear britches) when the kids next door just start screaming and won’t stop. They are just standing there screaming, take a breath, scream, big breath, repeat. I can’t do it. I have no piece of mind (no typo) and no inner nor outer peace. I retreated indoors.
Online gardening, a joy? I searched high and low; not a nanking cherry to be had except one source and they apologized that they were told they can not sell online nor ship during the panic-demic. Sales must be point of origin. Fine, how about an olive tree that would be good for flesh and oil that will grow for me? Some one? Any one? No sales. Sold out. What I did find was a pair of tea camellias, camellia sinensis var. tea breeze. Not my first choice but my only choice and I took it.  I took that online sale and ‘ran’ so fast I’m sure the credit card company saw flames.
In house, Fussing with my up potted toms and I cracked the drip tray (more like almost ripped it in half). Not by brut strength just by aged product and misjudged distance between cage top and sunlamp. My canary was like wtf mate?! Sorry! Apologizes all around little bird and little toms!
I did dig around and found a little pocket album (for seed organization) since I’m not allowed to buy one. Its a little light weight. I was going to use it to make a travel journal picture album for my youngest when I took her to meet her auntie and uncle from PK but just haven’t gotten the pictures downloaded and printed. She doesn’t mind (its been a year *eyeroll*); it was more of a project for me probably … so shifting gears. Or maybe more ‘digging’ (inside). I’m sure we have enough binders and sheet protectors (we used them a lot for sheet music). I would make my own book but cardboard is now short in demand since stores are not getting their full shipments and some places won’t even let you have them! Its to the crusher to be baled and get money.  Every piece is precious now. Maybe I should start saving/hoarding all my recyclables? Never mind me, I’m so annoyed to the point of distraction and too Too TOO much tea late in the day. Tomorrow will be another day full of possibilities (and hopefully all good!).

Logs on any Linux system are critical for analyzing and troubleshooting any issues related to system and applications. With the help of tools like Graylog, you can easily ship these logs to a centralized platform for easy visualization. In this guide, we will look at how to Configure Rsyslog Centralized Log Server on Ubuntu 22.04|20.04|18.04LTS. On Linux, by default, all log files are located under /var/log directory. There are several types of log files storing varying messages, which can be cron, kernel, security, events, users e.t.c. Mostly these logs file are controlled by rsyslog service. On recent systems with systemd, some logs are managed by journald daemon and they are written binary format. These logs are volatile since they are written to RAM and doesn’t withstand system reboot. They are often found on./run/log/journal/ But note that journald can also be configured to permanently store log messages by writing to file. Configure Rsyslog Log Server on Ubuntu 22.04|20.04|18.04 We’re going to configure rsyslog server as central Log management system. This follows the client-server model where rsyslog service will listen on either udp/tcp port. The default port used by rsyslog is 514. On the client system, rsyslog will collect and ship logs to a central rsyslog server over the network via UDP or TCP ports. When working with syslog messages, there is a priority/severity level that characterizes a log file. Namely: emerg, panic (Emergency ): Level 0 – This is the lowest log level. system is unusable alert (Alerts):  Level 1 – action must be taken immediately err (Errors): Level 3 – critical conditions warn (Warnings): Level 4 – warning conditions notice (Notification): Level 5 – normal but significant condition info (Information): Level 6 – informational messages debug (Debugging):  Level 7 – This is the highest level – debug-level messages Rsyslog is installed by default on a freshly installed Ubuntu system. If for any reason the package is not installed, you can install it by running: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install rsyslog When installed, check service to see if it is running: $ systemctl status rsyslog ● rsyslog.service - System Logging Service Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/rsyslog.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled) Active: active (running) since Wed 2018-07-18 11:30:10 UTC; 4 days ago Main PID: 903 (rsyslogd) Tasks: 4 (limit: 4704) CGroup: /system.slice/rsyslog.service └─903 /usr/sbin/rsyslogd -n Configure rsyslog to run in Server Mode Now configure rsyslog service to run in server mode: sudo vim /etc/rsyslog.conf Uncomment the lines for udp and tcp port binding: module(load="imudp") input(type="imudp" port="514") # provides TCP syslog reception module(load="imtcp") input(type="imtcp" port="514") If you would like to limit access from to specific subnet, IP or domain, add like below: $AllowedSender TCP, 127.0.0.1, 192.168.10.0/24, *.example.com You can add above line after input(type="imtcp" port="514") line. Remember to substitute given values with correct ones Create a new template for receiving remote messages Let’s create a template that will instruct rsyslog server how to store incoming syslog messages. Add the template just before GLOBAL DIRECTIVES section: $template remote-incoming-logs,"/var/log/%HOSTNAME%/%PROGRAMNAME%.log" *.* ?remote-incoming-logs & ~ The received logs will be parsed using the template above and stored inside directory/var/log/. The file naming follows the convention: %HOSTNAME% and %PROGRAMNAME% variables, i.e the client hostname, and client facility that produced the log message. The & ~ instructs rsyslog daemon to store the log message only to a specified file. Other variables that can be used include: %syslogseverity%, %syslogfacility%, %timegenerated%, %HOSTNAME%, %syslogtag%, %msg%, %FROMHOST-IP%, %PRI%, %MSGID%, %APP-NAME%, %TIMESTAMP%, %$year%, %$month%, %$day% Restart rsyslog service for the changes to take effect:
sudo systemctl restart rsyslog Confirm if the service is listening on configured ports: $ ss -tunelp | grep 514 udp UNCONN 0 0 0.0.0.0:514 0.0.0.0:* users:(("rsyslogd",pid=15220,fd=5)) ino:441816 sk:2 udp UNCONN 0 0 [::]:514 [::]:* users:(("rsyslogd",pid=15220,fd=6)) ino:441817 sk:5 v6only:1 tcp LISTEN 0 25 0.0.0.0:514 0.0.0.0:* users:(("rsyslogd",pid=15220,fd=7)) ino:441820 sk:a tcp LISTEN 0 25 [::]:514 [::]:* users:(("rsyslogd",pid=15220,fd=8)) ino:441821 sk:11 v6only:1 Configure Rsyslog firewall If you have ufw firewall service running, allow rsyslog firewall ports: sudo ufw allow 514/tcp sudo ufw allow 514/udp Configure Rsyslog as a Client Once you’re done configuring rsyslog server, head over to your rsyslog client machines and configure them to send logs to remote rsyslog server. sudo vim /etc/rsyslog.conf Allow preservation of FQDN: $PreserveFQDN on Add remote rsyslog server at the end: *.* @ip-address-of-rsysog-server:514 You can also use FQDN instead of Server IP Address: *.* @fqdn-of-rsysog-server:514 The above line will enable sending of logs over UDP, for tcp use @@ instead of a single @ *.* @@ip-address-of-rsysog-server:514 #OR *.* @@fqdn-of-rsysog-server:514 Also add the following for when rsyslog server will be down: $ActionQueueFileName queue $ActionQueueMaxDiskSpace 1g $ActionQueueSaveOnShutdown on $ActionQueueType LinkedList $ActionResumeRetryCount -1 Then restart rsyslog service sudo systemctl restart rsyslog Also check: Manage Logs with Graylog server on Ubuntu 18.04 How to Install Graylog 2.4 with Elasticsearch on CentOS 7.

Install java plugin 10.45.2 install#
I did just notice /var/log/journal was filling up, but not sure if those files would have anything to do with the browser crash, but i did delete them yesterday. I also had LXDE for some time in the past. That seemed to work for a month but it soon came back. I started on xfce then read it could be related to the DM, so i switched to KDE. It is super stable! She has similar HW (AMD 64-bit quad core, Samsung SSD, etc) so its pretty decent. On mine, I use the same google-chrome-dev and have maybe 1 crash per YEAR if that. In fact i have the same combination setup on mine which works perfect. I also tried every combination of flash (Adobe vs Google/pepper, java vs open-jdk etc) and still the same issue. I also have tried with no extensions and it crashes also soon enough. I just removed that pkg, and installed Chromium and it worked great for a week then started crashing. I have re-installed the google-chrome-dev many times (removed profile data too) but same issue eventually.
Install java plugin 10.45.2 install#
This has been going on for years so I don't think its any bad install or anything. I have tried Firefox also and I think its crashing too. However, her Chrome browser will crash almost daily for some reason. The OS on both is perfectly fine, very fast and has no issues. NO issues at all for mine, always up-to-date and never crashes, very stable, using the same google-chrome-dev pkg, updated daily if there are new updates. I have 2 Arch PC's one for me and one for the wife, both re-installed about the same time (recently to do a clean install with the latest systemd/grub2, etc stuff).

Concept/Situation
What is the thing, for whom, when and why? Ever wanted to discover new coffee spots, but not sure where to go in a new city or you simply forget time or space? This is an app for documenting brunching experiences and planning “café hopping” trips with friends. Try out Kopik’s prototype on Figma! Beware that there’s a lot of functionality ideas that have not been fully developed yet, as I had to focus on a segment of the app.
Tumblr media
I’ve given the app the name kopik, as a combination between the words collaboration and co-op (co), the indonesian word for coffee (kopi), and picture (pik).
Focus
Fokusområde: Vise en situasjon for bruk
Hvilke situasjoner skal det brukes i? The app can be used to keep track of your travel destinations on the go with your friends, and to document your brunching experiences. The users can categorize the places they've visited with hashtags, and leave a review or journal about the place they've visited. They can also attach images to their reviews and their trip logs.
Ulike former for deling. Kopik is primarily for sharing planned trips and reviews, created by users for users. Integrated in this is also the sharing of images and videos, and to share one's position location with selected friends.
Ulike brukere og roller. The main demographic I've aimed for is digital powerusers who likes to food blog, although allowing businesses to communicate with visitors is also an idea I have considered.
Hvordan er opplevelsen over tid? As the user documents their visits to different coffee and brunching spots, they will build a library of reviews which they can look back upon, and which can be helpful in recommending places to visit to friends and other strangers on the platform. They also get to vote for which reviews they found the most helpful, ideally using the same system as Reddit, although this is not fully realized in my prototype. They can also write personal journal logs regarding their trips as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Testing
Dokumentere: Show how you've tested during the process.
I made my family test out the app, but they didn't give much feedback other than smiling at me and saying it looked good. I tried giving them tasks like trying to find their user profile or liking a stranger's review, which they managed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

The scope of my app is quite big, so the 2 min presentation was way too short to cover it all.
Funksjonaliteter

Ellers handler det for meg om ordtaket: “With great power comes great responsibility.”)
Demonstration of the prototype that shows your concept.
Egenvurdering

#SELinux Troubleshooting | selinux tutorial for beginners | selinux Explained Identify the Problem - SELinux Audits Using ausearch and sealert Using audit2allow Utility SELinux Troubleshoot Browser The setroubleshootd Installation, configuration and working Sending e-mails Testing setroubleshoot functionality Binding sshd on a non standard port SELinux Logging - Interacting with systemd-journal Policy Rules V/s other Options Generally the causes of SELinux related problems are contexts and boolean settings. Logs are available in /var/log/audit/audit.log.  Tools are available to help decipher this log. The audit search  command can help filter for specific types of problems. # ausearch -m AVC,USER_AVC,SELINUX_ERR -ts today The audit2allow utility gathers information from logs of denied operations and then generates SELinux policy-allow rules. For example: To produce a human-readable description of why the access was denied: # audit2allow -w -a To view the type enforcement rule that allows the denied access: # audit2allow -a To create a custom module: # audit2allow -a -M mypolicy The -M option creates a type enforcement file (.te) with the name specified and compiles the rule into a policy package: mypolicy.pp mypolicy.te If the source and target contexts match, the file context is not the issue. By process of elimination, that points to the user context as the problem. The UID of the user should be listed later in the file, under “Raw Audit Messages.” If the user in question requires access to the su and sudo commands, change the role with the semanage login command. Any access to the sudo command will be documented in the /var/log/secure log file.Visit www.theskillpedia.com for Online Training on this technology

[RestClient] request [POST http://127.0.0.1:9200/_bulk?timeout=1m] returned 1 warnings: [299 Elasticsearch-7.17.21-d38e4b028f4a9784bb74de339ac1b877e2dbea6f "Elasticsearch built-in security features are not enabled. Without authentication, your cluster could be accessible to anyone. See https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/7.17/security-minimal-setup.html to enable security."]
xpack.security.enabled: true
http.max_warning_header_count: 0
Restart lại dịch vụ
systemctl restart elasticsearch.service
Di chuyển đến thư mục
cd /usr/share/elasticsearch/
Đặt password với lệnh
./bin/elasticsearch-setup-passwords interactive
elasticsearch_hosts = http://elastic:[email protected]:9200
Bây giờ ta tiến hành restart lại dịch vụ là xong.
systemctl restart Graylog-server.service
systemctl restart Graylog-server.service

Authored by DK Patel
Abstract
The plant Crinum asiaticum Linn is well known traditional herb registered for its medicinal and for ornamental values found to be useful in plantation in homes, gardens etc. The plant is belonging to the family Amaryllidaceae. The present paper deals with the study of variation of different plant parts as per their growth. The study on its growth and vegetative propagation was done using its mature adventitious bulbs followed by proper water supply and other needed supply made for its successful growth and record on medicinal qualities based on available literatures.
It produces beautiful white flower. Leaves are also marked for its ornamental purpose. This plants mature mother bulb producing several new small adventitious bulbs around its body and are significantly used to propagate by vegetative modes. The plant includes much medicinal property and is used in multifold directions/purpose to treat varied disorders. Findings as their morphological variations and medicinal uses etc are discussed furthermore.
Keywords: Amaryllidaceae; Bulb; Herb; Crinum asiaticum Linn; Medicinal plant; Vegetative propagation
Introduction
Plant diversity is an important segment for biological diversity and is also useful for successful regulation of the ecosystem. Plants are performing as a important ingredients in nature and are used in multifold directions among the human beings. To sure their presences in nature for long to long time are producing numerous seeds. The dispersal modes of the seeds among the plants are also found in variable trends. Similarly the capacity of the seeds germination is also changeable among the plant population. All the plants in the nature are not equally capable to regenerate like their parental ones. Such types of the plants are well adapted for propagation by another mode known as vegetative propagation. Out of the large plant diversity some of the species are efficiently reproducing using their seeds as well as by the potential application of varied vegetative parts including the modified plant parts like bulb, tuber, rhizome, and corm etc.
Crinum asiaticum Linn requires moderate range of water with proper water removal facilities near the plants. Current paper focuses on the morphological variation of the plant and also is a record of its vegetative propagation using their bulbs separated from their mother bulb after of their maturation. Species diversity includes a great variety and complex association of a variety of species in certain ecological areas. This plant diversity further playing a remarkable role in formation of biodiversity required for better regulation of life system in nature which plays a significant role for natural sustainability. Plants are important for a variety of purpose to the living beings such as these are a major source of food, fodder, fuel etc. Out of these the plants are also found to be a great source of medicine to treat certain disorders. The groups of the plants used for such purpose are marked as medicinal and aromatic plants. They are showing variation in their habit, habitat, growth form, nature of propagation mode etc.
Propagation of the plants is carried out by seeds or by vegetative plant parts. The process for plant propagation by potential application of seeds are termed as sexual propagation of the plants whereas the utilization of vegetative plant parts like root, stem, leaf or their modified forms like bulb, tuber, rhizome, corm etc. are categorized under the vegetative propagation. Both above modes of plant propagation leading to multiplication of the plants like their parental ones. Ecosystems composed with a great variation of species are more sustain than the ecological areas with less species diversity. Utilization of plants are also categorized in many ways like for food source, medicine etc. As per knowledge and potential of the plant species are utilized for varied purpose.
Plants always maintain their species richness in nature and for the same purpose these are producing numerous seeds of different colour, size, and shape etc. The period and potential of seed production by the plants also variable among the plant species. Plants are adapted to transfer their mature seeds from one place to another by various modes known as seed dispersal mechanism. The plants not capable to produce seeds are efficiently propagating by application of vegetative plant parts to develop new plants like their parental ones. Since long ago, natural products are showing considerable significance in term of beneficial products among the human society. Plants including several bioactive components showing efficiency as well as variation in their applicability to treat varied disorders. Amaryllidaceae is a widely spread family throughout the world containing 90 genera and 1310 species [1]. The family showing wide ranges of its distribution over the world. 8 Tips to Consider When Planning a Trip to India
We asked Carol Dimopoulos, president of Perillo’s Learning Journeys—which helps yoga and meditation teachers lead retreats in India and other destinations around the world—for her best advice on where to start.
Tip No. 1: Decide when to go
Most experts say the best time to visit India is in winter (from November to March), when cooler temperatures make travel more pleasant, but Dimopoulos says the only time she avoids is late June through mid-August. “After that, you can get great value,” she says. “For example, mid-to-end of September is just after monsoon season and rates are fantastic. And, I always love visiting India during festivals—whether Diwali, Holi, or another—as it’s an incredible way to really immerse yourself in the culture.”

Tip No. 2: Decide where to go
India is vast. It’s also a country where you can find everything from snow-capped mountains to tropical beaches. If it’s your first visit, Dimopoulos suggests focusing your trip in the north. “From a yogic perspective, this is where you’ll find the places that are most important to your understanding of the practice,” she says.

Tip No. 3: Get a tourist visa
At least one month before you take off, log on to the government website (indianvisaonline.gov.in), where you can pay for a visa that’s good for six months of travel. If you think you might return to India or want to stay longer, Dimopoulos recommends applying for a 10-year visa: “It’s a better value for the money if you’re like many yogis and India calls you back.” If you’ve left applying for a visa to the last minute, you can use a private company such as iVisa, which will help you save time but will likely cost you more.
Tip No. 4: Get vaccinated
While this is a personal choice, and you aren’t required to show proof of vaccinations to get through customs in India, Dimopoulos recommends checking the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention (CDC) website for vaccination recommendations. “Depending on where you’re traveling, the CDC’s recommendations will be different,” she says. “Talk to your doctor or a travel health specialist about what’s right for you.”
See also Yoga Journal’s Pilgrimage to India
Tip No. 5: Buy travel insurance
This is a must, Dimopoulos says: “Not only does travel insurance cover medical issues that might arise when you’re far away from home, including extreme situations where you might need to be air-evacuated from a location, but it also covers expenses you might encounter due to flight delays and lost baggage.” There are many options when it comes to travel insurance companies. Leave time to do research so you can find a plan that works best for your trip.
Book Indian train travel in advance.
Tip No. 6: Book train travel well in advance.
Using the wide-reaching Indian railways network is a convenient, budget-conscious way to travel. However, keep in mind that trains are often booked weeks or even months in advance, which means it’s a good idea to secure train tickets ahead of time. Dimopoulos adds that doing this on your own—as well as trying to find your seats and handle your own baggage—can be daunting. Her advice: Use a licensed agent to help you book train tickets and organize porters to help with your baggage.
Pack comfortable footwear that is easy to remove when entering homes or temples.
Tip No. 7: Know what to pack
Be prepared—and show your respect for Indian culture. There are a few essentials Dimopoulos always brings when she travels to India:
Lightweight shawls. “You’ll need to cover your shoulders when you visit temples and participate in ceremonies,” Dimopoulos says.
Comfortable, easy-to-slip-off footwear. “You’ll also need to take off your shoes before going into temples or homes in India,” she says.
Warm layers. Even if you’re visiting in summer, cities in higher elevations in the north will get chilly at night. “Not to mention there’s a chance you’ll encounter an over-zealous air conditioner at some point,” she says.
Hand sanitizer. This is smart for any travel, but it can be especially important in India, where many people eat with their hands and you won’t always find running water or soap in bathrooms.
Pocket tissues. These can easily double as toilet paper when needed.
Ginger chews (or anything else that settles your tummy). “If you’re driving on winding mountain roads, even those who don’t usually experience motion sickness can get pretty queasy,” Dimopoulos says.
Tip No. 8: Mentally prepare yourself for India
While nothing can really prepare you for traveling to this country for the first time, reading about the culture and learning as much as you can will certainly help prepare you for the shock and sensory overload you’ll likely experience, Dimopoulos says. “India is the kind of place you go to feel with all your senses,” she says. “And while the smells, sounds, tastes, and colors may feel a bit chaotic and overwhelming at first, it’s all part of the experience. Stay open to all of it, and you’ll be able to fully enjoy this incredible country.”

Your sleep was restless, dreams of the demon haunting you for the first time in weeks.
You woke up in a cold sweat, your heart pounding in your chest as you took deep breaths to calm yourself down.
You rolled over in Dean’s arms, gently placing your hand to his bare chest, feeling his heartbeat beneath your palm and finding comfort in the steady rhythm.
Dean’s eyes fluttered open, the sleep-content smile on his face dropping to an expression of concern.
“What’s wrong?” he asked quietly, carding his hand through your hair.
“Nightmare,” you murmured, shifting towards to him and letting him hold you close, his chin resting on top of your head.
“Wanna talk about it?”
You shook your head, burying your face in his neck, breathing in his grounding scent.
“I’m okay,” you mumbled against his skin, and he rubbed your back soothingly.
“I’m here, I’m not going anywhere,” he promised, telling you what you needed to know without you having to ask. “Get some sleep, kiddo.”
Strong fingers gently carding through your hair woke you up the next morning.
Your eyes blinked open, surprised when they focussed to find Dean, fully dressed, sitting on the edge of the mattress.
Propping yourself up on your elbow, you looked across to Sam and Jess’ bed to find it empty.
“They’re out getting us all breakfast,” Dean murmured, yet again answering your unvoiced query.
“What time is it?” you asked, your voice heavy with sleep as you sat up against the headboard. “How long have you been up?”
“A little after ten,” he explained. “A couple hours.”
You frowned as he took your hand and began playing with your fingers.
“Why didn’t you wake me?”
He smiled - a small, private smile that you rarely got to see - as he continued to look down at your hand.
“You looked peaceful,” he admitted. “After you waking up in the middle of the night, I figured you could do with the rest.”
You offered an appreciative smile when you realised that you did, in fact, feel better after a longer sleep.
“Besides,” Dean continued, smirking teasingly. “You were sleeping like a fucking log, nuclear warfare wouldn’t have woken you.”
You laughed, pulling your hand free and slapping his shoulder.
“Way to ruin the moment, you dick,” you huffed.
He grinned, grabbing your wrist and pulling you closer to him.
You went willingly as his hands cupped your jaw, leaning in for a soft kiss.
“Good morning,” you mumbled against his lips.
He laughed softly, pulling away and getting to his feet.
“Good morning, sweetheart,” he replied, nodding towards the bathroom. “Go get cleaned up. When the kids are back with the food we’ve… we’re finding out what Dad knows.”
You stood up, stretching your arms above your head and causing Dean’s shirt to rise up.
His hands found the strip of bare skin above your shorts, and you dropped your arms down to drape over his shoulders.
His thumbs began massaging your hips as you tilted your head, eyes squinting with a smile as you watched him draw his lip between his teeth.
You leant in slowly, your eyes flitting between his eyes and his lips as you closed the distance.
Just as your lips touched his, he pulled back a fraction.
“You should get dressed,” he told you, his lips barely brushing yours as he spoke. “They’ll be back soon.”
“Mhm,” you hummed in agreement, kissing him regardless.
Just as his resolve cracked and he began to kiss back, you pulled away, grabbing your duffel and heading towards the bathroom.
“You’re a tease,” he called after you, and you laughed, looking over your shoulder at him as you opened the door.
“Yeah, but I’m your tease,” you retorted.
He brought his lower lip between his teeth as he exhaled a small laugh, softly shaking his head.
He was staring at the door long after you’d closed it behind you.
Jessica was braiding your hair, perched on the end of John’s bed while you sat at her feet slowly working through the breakfast burrito they’d chosen for you.
John was sat at the table, papers strewn in front of him, the walls covered with information on the demon.
He was explaining everything to the four of you, Jessica needing to keep her hands busy so she could properly focus, hence your situation.
The Colt was atop the papers on the table, Dean pacing the floor as his father continued to talk, Sam leaning against the counter in the kitchenette as he listened.
“Our whole lives, we’ve been searching for this demon, right?” John asked his sons, who nodded in return. “Not a trace, just… nothing. Until about a year ago, for the first time I picked up a trail.”
“And that’s when you took off,” Dean added, pausing his pacing to look at his father.
“Yeah, that’s right,” John confirmed. “The demon must’ve come out of hiding, or hibernation.”
Dean nodded, sitting down next to Jessica.
You lifted your half eaten burrito towards him when you didn't want anymore, and he took it gratefully.
“Alright, so what’s this trail you found?” he asked, taking a bite.
“It starts in Arizona, then New Jersey, California,” he explained. “Houses burned down to the ground. It’s going after families, just like it went after us.”
Sam swallowed thickly, catching Dean’s eye before speaking.
“Families with infants?” he asked, and John nodded sadly.
“Yeah,” he sighed. “The night of the kid’s six-month birthday.”
Sam frowned, “I was six months old that night?”
“Exactly six months,” John told him, causing Sam’s jaw to clench.
“So basically, this demon is going after these kids for some reason,” Sam clarified. “The same way it came for me? So Mom’s death- Y/N- it’s all because of me?”
The bitterness in his tone as he said your name had you flinching, Dean’s strong hand on your shoulder working to calm you down slightly.
“We don’t know that, Sam,” he reminded his brother.
Sam scoffed.
“Oh, really? ‘Cause I’d say we’re pretty damn sure, Dean.”
Dean’s fingers tightened on your shoulder in frustration.
“For the last time, what happened to them was not your fault,” he insisted.
“You’re right,” Sam practically shouted, causing your sister to go stock still, hating to hear that kind of anger from her boyfriend. “It’s not my fault but it’s my problem!”
“No, it’s not your problem, it’s our problem,” Dean shot back, causing John to stand up, looking between his sons.
“Okay, that’s enough,” he ordered, Dean letting go of your shoulder and Sam taking a steadying breath.
“So why’s he doing it?” Sam asked, his voice softer but still with an underlying tone of frustration. “What does he want?”
John shook his head.
“Look, I wish I had more answers, I do,” he admitted. “I’ve always been one step behind it. I’ve never gotten there in time to save…”
He trailed off, looking down as his expression fell into an unhappy frown.
“Alright,” Dean cleared his throat, Jessica finally finishing your braid. “So how do we find it, before it hits again?”
“There’s signs. It took me a while to see the pattern, but it’s there in the days before these fire signs crop up in an area,” he explained. “Cattle deaths, temperature fluctuations, electrical storms. And then I went back and checked- and…”
“These things happened in Lawrence,” Dean finished, and John nodded.
“A week before your mother died,” he confirmed, before looking down at you. “And in Palo Alto, before…”
You nodded, bringing your knees up under your chin and hugging your legs.
“These signs, they’re starting again,” John told you, and Sam nodded, walking over to the rest of you.
“Where?” he asked, and John sighed, beginning to pack up the papers.
“Salvation, Iowa.”
The news of Pastor Jim’s death lit a fire under the Winchester’s asses, kicking them into gear and making John even more determined to end the saga with this demon as soon as possible.
Once you got to Salvation, John had the five of you split up to check the hospitals and health care centre for children that were due to turn six months old that weekend.
You went with Sam to one hospital while Jessica and Dean took the other, splitting up the couples to avoid any unnecessary distraction.
You and Sam took notes of all of the birth certificates that the nurse had given you access to, copying everything down into your journal.
As you were stepping out of the hospital, Sam started to clutch his head, breathing harshly as his vision started to black out.
You managed to move him out of the way of the foot traffic, keeping him on his feet with your shoulder propped up under his arm.
His eyes shot open as he gasped.
“Map,” he requested. “Do we have a map?”
You pulled a map of the area, giving it to him without question as he looked at it intently.
“I didn’t know you were still having visions,” you murmured, and he looked at you, worried.
“Yeah, neither did I.”
Sam’s vision lead you across town. The two of you were looking across the road at the house he’d seen, waiting for… something.
A woman began walking down the road, towards the house, pushing a stroller and trying to let her umbrella down with one hand.
Sam jogged over to help her, and you followed behind, confused at his course of action.
“Hi, here, let me hold that for you,” Sam offered. “Looks like you don’t need that anymore.”
Sam steadied the stroller while the woman let down her umbrella.
“Oh, thanks,” she smiled.
You and Sam both looked into the stroller, seeing a beautiful little girl.
“She’s gorgeous,” you murmured. “Is she yours?”
“Yeah,” the woman told you, and Sam smiled down at the baby.
“Oh wow, hi!” he grinned wide before shaking his head, looking up at the mom. “Oh, sorry, I’m rude- I’m Sam, this is Y/N. We just moved in up the block.”
You smiled at her, and she matched your expression.
“Hi, I’m Monica,” she told you. “This is Rosie.”
“Rosie?” Sam asked, looking back down at her. “Hi Rosie.”
“So, welcome to the neighbourhood,” Monica smiled.
“Thanks. She’s such a good baby.”
Sam was fawning, and you elbowed him to snap him out of it.
“I know,” Monica laughed. “I mean she… she never cries. She just stares at everybody. Sometimes she looks at you and I swear it’s- it’s like she’s reading your mind.”
You smiled, “Well, she’s beautiful.”
“Thank you. Have you got kids?” she asked, and you laughed.
“Oh, no, we’re not-”
“I’m with her sister,” Sam explained. “But no, we don’t.”
“My mistake,” she apologised, and Sam shook his head.
“What about you? Have you lived here long?”
“My husband and I, we bought our place just before Rosie was born,” Monica explained.
“How old is she?” you asked, looking down at the baby who was still staring back up at you.
“She’s six months today,” she told you, and your eyes shot up to meet Sam’s. “She’s big, right? Growing like a weed.”
Sam nodded, rubbing his temple.
“Yeah, Monica?”
“Yeah?” she frowned.
“Just, uh- just take care of yourself, okay?” he told her, and she smiled, confused.
“Yeah, you too. We’ll see you around.”
She turned towards her house as a car pulled into the drive, honking its horn.
“There’s Daddy!” Monica told Rosie, making their way to the front door.
Sam groaned in pain, clutching at his head again as another vision undoubtedly took over.
You stood in front of him, bringing your hands up to hold his face, trying to calm him down.
His jaw clenched under your touch as he sucked in a harsh breath, opening his eyes.
“It’s Rosie,” he told you quietly, and you dropped your hands to his shoulders. “It’s Rosie, and it’s tonight.”
John wasn’t happy when you got back to the motel and told him everything you knew.
Jessica and Sam were sat at the kitchen table, you and Dean on your bed as John perched on the edge of the other mattress.
“A vision,” he repeated, flatly.
“Yes,” Sam replied, slowly. “I saw the demon burning a woman on the ceiling.”
“And you think this is going to happen to this woman you met because…”
John trailed off, clearly unconvinced.
“Because these things happen exactly the way I see them,” Sam told him, calmly.
“It started out as nightmares,” Dean explained, getting up to refill his coffee. “Then it started happening while he was awake.”
Sam winced slightly, rubbing his temple with one hand while Jessica held onto the other.
“Yeah, it’s like the closer I get to anything to do with the demon, the stronger the visions get.”
John nodded slowly.
“Alright,” he drawled. “When were you gonna tell me about this?”
Dean turned around, frowning at his father.
“We didn’t know what it meant.”
John scoffed.
“Alright, something like this starts happening to your brother? You pick up the phone and you call me.”
“Call you?” Dean spat, slamming his cup down on the counter and striding towards his father. “Are you kidding me? Dad, I called you from Lawrence, alright? Sam called you when I was dying. I mean, getting you on the phone? We’ve got a better chance of winning the lottery.”
A silence fell across the room, tension building as you waited for the inevitable explosion.
Only, it didn’t come.
“You’re right,” John admitted, and Dean stepped back. “Although I’m not too crazy about this new tone of yours, you’re right. I’m sorry.”
“Visions or no visions,” you interrupted, easing the awkwardness in the room and swinging your legs around to touch the floor. “Fact is, we know the demon is coming tonight, and this family’s gonna go through the same hell you went through.”
“No, they’re not,” John insisted, firmly. “No one is, ever again.”
Dean nodded stiffly, sitting back down on the bed and pulling you next to him, his hand on your thigh comforting him rather than you, as Sam’s phone started to ring.
“Who is it?” Jessica asked, and he shook his head.
“Blocked number.”
He answered anyway, putting it on speaker so everyone could hear.
“Hello?”
“Sam?” a familiar woman’s voice came from the other side.
“Who is this?” Sam asked, and she laughed, bitterly.
“Think real hard, it will come to you.”
Sam paused, looking at Dean.
“Meg,” he realised, causing John to stand up. “Last time I saw you, you fell out a window.”
“Yeah, no thanks to you,” she snarked. “That really hurt my feelings, by the way.”
“Just your feelings?” Sam retorted. “That was a seven-story drop.”
She scoffed, “Lemme speak to your dad.”
Sam’s eyes snapped to John.
“My dad… I don’t know where my dad is.”
“It’s time for the grown ups to talk, Sam,” she replied, voice dripping with patronisation. “Let me speak to him now.”
Sam hesitated, but John motioned for his son to hand over his phone.
John took it off of loudspeaker as soon as he was holding it; bringing it to his ear so that you could only hear his half of the conversation.
The gesture irked you. It felt, to you at least, that he was hiding something from you as he spoke in a hushed voice.
You leant into Dean, trying to hear as much as you could of what his father was saying.
“Caleb?” John asked, and Dean tensed beside you, watching John carefully. “You listen to me. He’s got nothing to do with anything. You let him go.”
You frowned, looking up at Dean.
“Caleb?” you questioned, and he sighed as John’s voice lowered to hushed threats that you couldn’t make out.
“Dad’s old hunting buddy, they- we go way back,” Dean explained, quietly. “He’s the one that called about Pastor Jim.”
“Caleb, Caleb!” John shouted, worried, before choking off an anguished sob.
You wrapped your arm around Dean’s waist, holding him closer as you realised the bitch had killed another of their lifelong friends. His hand tightened on your leg as he tried to keep his composure.
“I’m gonna kill you, you know that?” John threatened, hurt giving way to anger - to the thirst for revenge.
You glanced at Sam, needing to check that your best friend was okay but not wanting to leave Dean’s side.
He was stood behind Jessica, resting his hands on her shoulders as she remained sat at the table. Her fingers were laced with his at her right shoulder, squeezing in reassurance as John continued to listen intently to whatever Meg was saying.
“Okay,” he finally said, relenting. “I said okay. I’ll bring you the Colt.”
Dean’s grip turned just the wrong side of painful and you let out an involuntary hiss of discomfort.
He removed his hand instantly, rather wrapping his arm around your shoulders and pressing a kiss to your hairline.
“Sorry,” he murmured, lips still pressed against your forehead.
You shook your head, leaning into him further.
“S’okay,” you assured him as John ran a hand over his face.
“It’s gonna take me about a day’s drive to get there,” John said, clenching his jaw at Meg’s response. “That’s impossible. I can’t get there in time, and I can’t just carry a gun on the plane.”
Meg must’ve hung up because, the next thing you knew, John was throwing Sam’s phone down onto his bed.
“Son of a bitch,” he cursed, and Sam swallowed, sitting next to your sister.
“So you think Meg is a demon?” he asked, and John nodded, running a hand over his face again, breathing harshly into his palm to calm himself.
“Either that, or she’s possessed by one,” he agreed. “It doesn’t really matter.”
There was a moment of silence, nobody knowing what to say and Caleb’s death hanging heavy in the room.
“What do we do?” Jess asked, quietly.
“I’m going to Lincoln,” John announced, causing all of you to look at him in shock.
“What?” Dean asked, vocalising what you were all thinking.
“It doesn’t look like we have a choice,” he sighed. “If I don’t go, people die- our friends die.”
Sam shook his head, his jaw clenching again.
“Dad, the demon is coming tonight,” he reminded his father. “For Monica and her family. That gun is all we’ve got, you can’t just hand it over.”
“Who said anything about handing it over?” John shot back. “Look, besides us and a couple of vampires, no one’s really seen the gun. No one knows what it looks like.”
You frowned, shaking your head.
“So, what? You’re just gonna pick up a ringer at a pawn shop?”
“Antique store,” John corrected, and Dean huffed a humourless laugh.
“You’re going to hand Meg a fake gun and hope she doesn’t notice?” he asked, and John sighed.
“Look, as long as it’s close, she shouldn’t be able to tell the difference,” he tried, but Dean wasn’t having it.
“Yeah, but for how long?” he pressed. “What happens when she figures it out?”
“I just…” John took a breath, unable to keep eye contact with either of his sons. “I just need to buy a few hours, that’s all.”
There was a pause as you took in what he was implying.
“You mean, for us,” Sam clarified. “You want us to stay here and kill this demon by ourselves?”
“No, Sam,” John snapped. “I want to stop losing people we love. I want you and Jessica to go back to school. I want Dean and Y/N to have a real home. I want-”
He cut himself off, breathing harshly.
“I want Mary alive,” he admitted, grabbing his jacket and heading for the door. “I just… I just want this to be over.”
John left with the replica Colt that afternoon, leaving the rest of you behind at the motel to prepare for the hunt that was going down that night.
You’d just finished loading up the impala when Sam pulled Jess aside in the motel’s kitchenette, the two of them talking in hushed, private voices.
“What are they talking about?” you asked Dean, the two of you standing closer to the door, a respectable distance away.
He worried his lip before replying.
“You and Jess aren’t coming,” he told you, calmly.
You blinked, taken aback.
“I’m sorry, what?” you questioned, and he sighed.
“Y/N, it’s not safe for you there,” he tried to reason.
“It’s not safe for you there, either!” you argued, raising your voice. “Dean, nothing we ever do is safe! If we’re ending this thing tonight, I deserve to be there.”
“Sweetheart, you’re not coming,” he insisted, still a picture of calm.
Your blood was boiling as you pushed at his chest in anger.
“I’m not gonna sit here and wait for it all to blow over when I could be in there helping,” you assured him, not caring that you were causing a scene and that Sam and Jessica had stopped their conversation because of it. “This fucking bastard carved me up!”
“And that’s the exact reason why you’re not coming,” he shot back, finally losing his cool. “It’s hurt you before! It came after your sister, and left us a message in your fucking flesh! Do you think we’ll just get a polite message this time?”
You clenched your jaw, his poor choice in phrasing making you even angrier.
“I’m not scared,” you seethed, and he barked a shocked laugh.
“I am!” he yelled, making you flinch. “I’m terrified that, if you come with us, you won’t leave that house in one piece. I can’t let you come. I couldn’t live with myself if-”
“Why?” you interrupted. “Why can’t you?”
Dean paused, clenching his jaw, his hard eyes softening slightly as he looked down at you.
“You know why,” he murmured, his eyes not leaving yours as he directed his words to his brother. “Sammy, go get in the car.”
You watched from the corner of your eye as Sam leant down and kissed your sister firmly, murmured ‘I love you’s exchanged.
She didn’t argue as he grabbed his jacket and made his way out to the car.
“I know you’re worried about me,” you told Dean, looking up at him. “I get it, I do, but please let me do this.”
He swallowed thickly, nodding before leaning down to kiss you.
His hands found your waist, kissing you firmly with the kind of safeness and certainty you craved.
Dean pulled back, letting go of you and stepping away.
“Let’s go,” you breathed, and he nodded again, moving to follow Sam.
You turned to grab your jacket, and by the time you faced the door again it was closing in your face, the sound of a key turning in the lock.
You rushed to the window, pushing back the curtain only to find it locked as well.
“You asshole!” you shouted, punching the glass.
Dean held up both sets of motel keys, mouthing ‘sorry’.
“I can pick the lock!” you yelled back, angrily, but he pulled your picker tool from his pocket.
Jessica felt around her jacket for hers, coming up short.
In that moment, as the impala pulled out of the parking lot, you realised that they’d planned this all along.
An hour since they’d left, you were surprised you hadn’t burnt through the carpet with your incessant pacing.
Jessica was sat on her bed, staring straight at the wall ahead.
Neither of you had said a word since the car had disappeared into the distance, Jess too worried and you too pissed off to say anything at all.
You let out a yell of frustration, causing your sister to look up at you.
“I’m gonna smash the fucking window,” you told her, instantly looking around the room for something heavy enough.
“No you’re not,” Jessica told you, standing up and walking over to you, pulling you into a hug.
You didn’t want to be held, you wanted to throw things, but she wrapped her arms around you and the fight left your body.
You hugged back, burying your face in her hair and letting her calm you down.
“I can’t believe they locked us in,” you murmured, and she laughed slightly, pulling back.
“I can’t believe we didn’t see it coming,” she countered.
You shook your head, still annoyed as you finally allowed yourself to sit down on your bed.
Jessica walked over to the kitchenette, starting to boil some water.
“Are you seriously making tea right now?” you asked her, equal parts irritated and amused.
She nodded, getting out a cup for herself before responding.
“You want one?”
You thought about turning it down, about telling her not to be so relaxed about everything, but you realised there was nothing you could do short of throwing the microwave oven at the window.
“Please,” you sighed, flopping back against the headboard.
Jess made the tea in silence, bringing over your cup and climbing onto the bed next to you.
You took a sip, letting the refreshing warmth work to calm you down.
After a while, you decided to speak what was on your mind.
“Jessy,” you began, worrying your lip. “What if-?”
“Don’t,” she interrupted, putting her cup on the nightstand.
“You didn’t even know what I was going to say,” you tried, and she shook her head.
She picked up your arm and wrapped it over her shoulders, curling into your side.
“I’ve known you for more than twenty years, I know what you were going to say,” she murmured. “You were going to start assuming the worst, and you can’t think like that. Not today.”
You swallowed. She wasn’t wrong, but you didn’t know how to explain why you just couldn’t stop thinking it.
“The demon came after you,” Jess reminded you, quietly. “And you got out alive.”
“It wasn’t trying to kill me, it wanted to leave a message,” you argued, halfheartedly.
“And you don’t think a message carved into your dead body would’ve had the same effect?” she pointed out. “You got out alive because Dean saved you. Dean, who’s out there fighting this thing again. He saved you from it, and they’ll do the same tonight.”
You tightened your arm around her, kissing the top of her head.
“I know,” you mumbled, holding her close. “I know.”
You were both filled with anxiety by the time that you heard the lock start to rattle.
“Don’t freak out,” Dean’s low voice told you through the door. “It’s us.”
You were on guard anyway.
The second they were through the door, you made them do all the tests that you’d made John do the first time you met him. They’d been battling a demon, you couldn’t take anything for granted.
Once everything came up clear, you let them in properly.
“Y/N, I-”
You’d slapped him before he got a chance to finish his sentence.
“I deserved that,” he murmured, and you nodded, pulling him into a bone-crushing hug.
“Don’t you ever do that to me again,” you told him, feeling yourself begin to cry with relief.
“I promise,” he whispered. “But we didn’t get him. We saved the family, but the demon got away.”
“That’s okay,” you sniffed, pulling back and holding his face in your hands, his left cheek hot under your palm. “You’re alive.”
“Yeah,” he breathed, and you crashed your lips to his, desperate to feel him with you - to feel that he was here, he was alive.
Dean pulled back, pressing his forehead to yours and breathing deeply.
“Have you heard from Dad?” he asked, and you shook your head.
You stepped back, wiping your eyes with your sleeves as he pulled his phone from his pocket.
He began to pace the floor as he dialled John’s number.
You turned to see Sam and Jess, sat awkwardly side-by-side at the edge of the mattress.
Sam’s jaw was clenched, his whole body tense as Jess rubbed gentle circles into the tight muscles of his back.
“Come on, answer your phone, damn it,” Dean groaned, hanging up and trying again.
There was no answer again.
“Something’s wrong,” he murmured, turning to his brother.
Sam continued to stare straight at the wall.
“You hear me?” Dean asked. “Something’s wrong.”
“If you had just let me go in there, I could’ve ended all this,” Sam murmured, still staring straight ahead.
“Sam,” Dean sighed. “The only thing you would have ended was your life.”
Sam shook his head. “You don’t know that.”
Dean started walking towards Sam as he spoke, and you instinctively went to your sister.
“So, what? You’re just willing to sacrifice yourself?” Dean asked. “Is that it?”
Sam stood up, his stance confrontational.
“Yeah. Yeah, you’re damn right I am.”
You stood in front of your sister, Sam’s aggressive tone and body language making you fiercely protective of her.
“Well, that’s not gonna happen,” Dean told his brother. “Not as long as I’m around.”
“What the hell are you talking about, Dean?” Sam questioned. “We’ve been searching for this demon our whole lives. It’s the only thing we’ve ever cared about.”
Jess stood up from her position on the bed, catching Dean’s eye as you caught her wrist, keeping your body as a physical barrier despite the fact that Sam was more than a safe distance away.
Dean swallowed thickly.
“Sam, I wanna waste it, I do, okay?” he admitted. “But it’s not worth dying over.”
Sam’s eyes widened, before his brows knitted in an intense frown.
“What?”
“I mean it,” Dean insisted. “If hunting this demon means getting yourself killed then I hope we never find the damn thing.”
“That thing tried to kill Y/N,” Sam argued, voice rising. “That thing killed Mom!”
Dean remained calm as his brother got up in his face, trying to keep everything amicable for your sake.
“You said yourself once,” he started, swallowing down his emotions, “That, no matter what we do, Y/N is scarred, and Mom’s gone. She’s never coming back.”
Sam totally lost it, grabbing Dean by the jacket and shoving him up against the wall.
The quick movement caused you to pull your sister closer; the big sister mentality telling you that if you held her close enough, you could keep her safe from anything.
“Don’t you say that!” Sam yelled, voice full of hurt and anger. “Not you! Not after all this- don’t you say that.”
Jessica was crying into your shirt, and you took to petting her hair like you did as a kid to try and calm her down.
“Sam, look,” Dean said, quiet and calm. “The five of us… that’s all we have, and it’s all I have. Sometimes I feel like I’m barely holding it together, man. And, without you or Dad…”
Sam let go of his jacket, stepping back.
“Dad,” he breathed, voice thick with emotion. “He should have called by now.”
Sam turned to face you, looking at Jessica with a pained expression.
He took a step towards you, but you held up a hand to halt him.
Jess was still sniffing against you, and a glance at Dean saw him breathing heavily with his eyes closed.
Sam swallowed, nodding, looking back at his brother.
“Try him again.”
Dean took another deep breath before pulling out his phone again.
He called John’s number, the phone on speaker this time.
Just as you thought it was going to ring out, someone picked up.
“You kids really screwed up this time,” Meg’s voice drawled from the other end of the line.
Dean clenched his jaw.
“Where is he.”
It wasn’t a question, it was a demand.
Meg laughed, no hint of remorse in her voice.
“You’re never going to see your father again.”

For the second time in a week, Wells Fargo customers became exasperated when they faced problems trying to log in to the bank's mobile and online banking channels. Reports from around the US verified the impact of what the bank indicated were systems problems. Predictably, some customers took to Twitter with a blast of complaints after Wells Fargo tried, in vain, to calm nerves.
The bank has been trending on Twitter all day on Twitter. One customer tweeted:
A bit later, the bank tweeted:
That fell flat, and negative reactions multiplied. One customer reported an incident that's likely to need several steps to unravel:
An hour later, the company said it was experiencing a
"systems issue" but said the outages were just intermittent. ABC News then confirmed "a systems-wide problem causing outages on [Wells Fargo's] online banking platform and mobile banking app."
As the bank tried to paint a picture of what caused today's problem, some customers became alarmed. By early afternoon, the bank tweeted for a third time and said that "smoke was detected at one of its back-office facilities." The mental image of a bank on fire with customer cash inside was undoubtedly hard to handle for some.
The cryptosphere gave its two (virtual) cents. One crypto fan tweeted:
Unsurprisingly, the IT crowd began to weigh in with explanations and suggested fixes. One cheeky observer offered sage advice: "Have you tried turning it off and then back on again?"
Angst and levity aside, this mess is surely a giant headache for an institution most recently noted for
charging its own customers for accounts they didn't authorize. It may be time the bank revisited its crisis communication game plan, especially in an era when customer blow-back is fast, furious, and digital.
