nine people you want to get to know better

last song: when i opened the tag, 'alien blues' by vundabar but currently i'm listening to hozier 'would that i'. as of finishing writing this, radiohead. there you have it.

favourite colour: a deep cherry red. the kind that would make a really lovely lipstick gloss.

last movie/tv show: i'm terrible with shows and movies, but i was watching the bowie doco (moonage daydream) the other day, keeping on brand ik. i also love british comedians so 'would i lie to you?' is probably up there as well.

sweet/savoury/spicy: sweet if it is really well done. i'm talking specifically that one pub down by where i live that for some reason makes the best chocolate lava cake ever. if not, savoury forever.

last thing i googled: beatles guitar songs for beginners. i've decided to relearn guitar and i'm back to the absolute basics.

current obsession: concerts! this is a long-standing love but it is very evident lately. the way concerts down here work is that no one comes for years bc of the trek to aus, and then randomly there's this one month period where everybody is here at once and suddenly i have to choose between favs. that has been this month! hard on the bank account but my soul is thriving with a concert every other week. saw noah kahan, it was life-altering.

last book: i'm between the '50 yrs of led zeppelin' biography by mick wall, and 'anna karenina' by tolstoy atm. (adding it) last fic: blends by rvltn909. finished it yesterday and oh my god. the crime that was me putting it off.

looking forward to: still a little ways away, but i'm moving to america for (my) winter-spring!! i've work in the states, which i'm thrilled abt. it also means i am tracking down artists who refuse to concert in aus (hozier for the love of god) and trying to sneak them in as well.

That picture of Michael and Tom Hardy...

So I just had to share some more thoughts regarding this picture of Michael and Tom Hardy from the Oliviers in 2004, because there is so much happening here...

This was right after Michael and Kate had broken up, and he was quoted at the time as saying that he was back into dating. I keep thinking about the "and friend" description for Tom Hardy on Getty Images and how that phrase is doing all kinds of work. Given the closeness and the pull between them in this pic, "friend" feels about one step away from "business associate" here, as both terms (and other similar ones) have historically served as coded euphemisms for a same-sex relationship.

What I really love is how much this flies in the face of the "Michael's never publicly been with a man" argument that's been used to dismiss and erase his bisexuality. I know some might say that they didn't "label" whatever this was, so how could you say that they were together...but that's kind of the entire point. That Michael didn't think twice about showing up to an event with a man or how it would look and just let whatever...this was be what it was.

It also speaks to the (what should be common knowledge, but somehow isn't) idea that "official" public relationships listed on Wikipedia are not the only ones that a person has or can have. Those relationships/situationships/FWBs/hookups/whatever you want to call them can happen at any point in time, whether we know about them or not. And when you factor in Michael repeatedly talking about his attractions to men and Tom saying that "I'm actor, of course I have" in reference to having sex with men, it further augments the possibility that something could have happened between them.

As I said in my previous post, I have no idea how I didn't stumble across this picture before now, but I just find it so endlessly intriguing. I'd love to hear what other folks think, though, so feel free to chime in...

experience I keep having recently: seeing PREV TAGS in my notifications, from an account I don’t recognize, in some cases accompanied by something potentially a bit worrying like HOW DARE YOU, clicking thru it a little scared of what I am going to see, and then realizing that I am not prev tags and this is just other people yelling about their blorbos with each other on my one post that’s rapidly approaching 30k notes and breathing a sigh of relief

I kinda love how Marcus is having absolutely none of Solas' shit in this pre-Weisshaupt conversation. He may not know what is going on exactly (and that seems to frustrate him to no end), but I like to think that he's insightful enough (and enough of an overthinker, with the "what am I missing? what more can you tell me?" types of questions he keeps asking) to be able to tell rather immediately that the pieces aren't fitting together quite right, that something is missing from the picture, that he's not being told the full truth, or worse, he's being deliberately misled.

Like the first time I didn't quite realize (for obvious reasons lol), but this second time, it's kind of glaring that here, Solas is purposefully avoiding mentioning that succeeding and killing Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain would also immediately destroy the Veil in the process, and cause what I can only describe as a mass extinction event among mortals.

He tells his poignant little anecdotes about diplomacy, tyranny, and free will (I think his lessons here can be summed up as something like "there comes a time when talking is no longer sufficient and diplomacy fails, you must know when it's time for you to stop waiting and take action instead" which is kind of a doozy, and "use your enemy's greatest strength against them" which is actually decent advice), he makes sure to illustrate the importance of the exact task at hand, but he very pointedly does not say anything about what will come after the task is accomplished.

He doesn't mention his own escape. He doesn't talk about his own goals. He seems very eager to center Rook, their thoughts, and their methods, as if there were no more steps after this one and his goals and Rook's were perfectly shared.

He makes sure to warn of the dangers of not listening to him, but he makes no mention of what's in this whole thing for him, and only encourages Rook to do whatever is necessary to accomplish their shared task, and thus work unknowingly into his hands.

I think that's kind of a beautiful, subtle way to show just how unconcerned Solas in this situation is with the mortal world, and how clearly he's manipulating Rook into acting out his plan out of their own free will. It really makes it clear that to him, Rook is (excuse the pun, but) no more than a pawn.

(I also think it's very interesting and a nice touch that you literally cannot get out of this conversation without telling him that you'll do whatever it takes. I like the way it foreshadows both the ending, and the sheer desperation we can expect during this upcoming mission.)

I want to go into a bit more detail about some of the things me and @whorencezvahl have talked about for Vincent in our rewrite because we’ve accidentally made him a semi major supporting character to the main plot of our rewrite. So be prepared for rambling about Vincent that may or may not make complete sense, none of this is going to be in complete timeline order for our rewrite but it’s all some of the more important things. Warning again, this is going to be long rambles about our rewrite Vincent. Also some of this is just going to be brief explanations, so feel free to send an ask if you want to learn more

☆Like mentioned previously, Vincent was previously once Shad’s kind of right hand man and the first person Shad ever turned into a shadow knight. Shadow knights originally in our rewrite was kind of a way that Shad would be able to keep his friends alive/keep them around longer(both of the first two shadow knights he created ended up gaining their immortality, though Vincent is the only one we’ve fleshed out) Vincent at some point has met all of the other Divine Warriors, but doesn’t know them all as personally as he knew Shad.

★Vincent at one point did end up pulling away from Shad (as of writing this we haven’t talked about when or what caused it, we jump around timeline wise a lot so somethings do not have answers right now) and ended up going with his brother, who ended up becoming the first lord of Meteli. Stuff happens and Vincent ends up killing his brother and gaining his immortality, Vincent then chooses to stay in Meteli basically as long as there is a Meteli. He basically vows to always makes sure Meteli is fine and nothing bad happens to it, but he refuses to become a lord.

☆It’s not an entirely well known thing that Vincent is an immortal Shadow Knight, even through he’s been in Meteli since it was founded. He’s kind of in a sense more kept a secret. The current lord will obviously know that he’s an immortal shadow knight, but majority of the village doesn’t know. He has a good bit of say regarding the village, but he’s not fully in charge. He has full veto power regarding who becomes the next lord, so if he doesn’t think the person would be good to be lord then they won’t be. And most lords just know not to argue with him about that.

★Now actually onto stuff that is more relevant to rewrite. Due to him just being concerned about keeping track of possible resurgence of the Divine Warriors, he keeps track of Shad’s descendants (of course to an extent, mainly the ones who could potentially wield Shad’s relic) He doesn’t track the others descendants, mainly because there are not many descendants to keep track of its mainly reincarnations at this point. I’ll make a post later about how relics work in the rewrite.

☆Joh at some point just comes home with like preteen Laurence and Vincent has like one conversation with him and takes away two things. 1) at some point in the near future the Lucan family is going to completely die out and 2)this child is the reincarnation of Shad. Which obviously isn’t a good sign. And unluckily for him this won’t be the last time he meets one of the new divine warriors(labeled later on at least to refer to them by us, the relic holders)

★Last thing(not really this is all I want to write because my brain is going to much) he’s one of the last few shadow knights who can correctly make a shadow knight by Shad’s standards!!

not an anonymous ask but are there any 17 tamiz publication process updates? or really just any updates about 17 tamiz in general? if not that's totally ok. finishing writing a whole original novel is a massive accomplishment in its own right. but selfishly, i'd love to be able to buy a physical copy of it some day!

Second, the update! So far i've gotten about 18 rejections from agents. However! I am currently in the process of talking to published authors for advice. I do hope to get it legitimately published, but at the end of the day if I am not able to break past the difficulty of official publication, i may self publish. My fingers are still crossed!

HOW I SHIFTED FOR THE FIRST TIME

I'm gonna keep this short and sweet. For some context, no, this isn't literally my first time shifting (we shift all the time, remember?) as I've shifted to countless parallel realities and a couple random realities. However, this was the first time I shifted to a reality where it was supposedly fictional (MHA).

So, what did I do?

This. Exactly what I'm doing right now.

You see, every time I was going to bed or idle with my thoughts (doing chores, walking, etc), I would imagine myself writing a success story or telling a friend (luv you @vixilic) about my successful shift. I'd think about how I'd decorate it, how I'd word my sentences, the feeling I'd get from it, things like that. In the time between my last post and now, I had managed to shift by (mainly) doing that.

Before you say, "Isn't that similar to the xyz method/a combination of abc and qrs?" Congratulations! You know so much that you can actually see the different aspects of Loa/shifting being applied. I'm not gonna pretend like I invented this approach, but it is what worked for me (and perhaps for you too).

So, for those who want a coherent, step by step guide on how to do this, look below:

1. Pick a reference Pick something that you're going to base your visualisation off of. Are you going to tell a shifting friend? Your favourite blog? What about writing your own post? Don't stress, you can use more than one

2. Do the damn visualisation Everyday, imagine what it'd be like to tell your success story. What did you do during the day? How were the people in that reality like? How did it feel? Were you nervous, excited, scared? Do this when you wake up and when you're going to sleep. Bonus points for doing this at other times too.

3. Relax This doesn't have to be an instantaneous method and you may not see "results" right away. The whole reason I started doing this in the first place is because I'm pretty busy with school currently and I wanted to do something related to shifting which I didn't have to think about much. Hell, that shift happened on a night where I had no plans, I didn't "try", I just wanted to sleep 😭

Tips:

- this can be compounded with other methods if you wish: subliminals, robotic affirmations, sats, etc - don't stress if your visualisation isn't perfect, feeling is much more key here - on that note, don't try and force a "feeling" either. maybe you're overthinking it or just not in the mood, you don't have to literally feel it - go with the flow and personalise this to yourself. this is a Tumblr post, not a military boot camp - this can be applied to more than just shifting, too
