hey hey hey! i wanted to show y'all some of the details of the acrylic standee that's one of the tier rewards for the Glitches & Glitterglue DCA fanzine! i got permission from our lovely mods to share this!

the standee is double sided with correctly flipped face plates on both sides. sun takes the forefront on one side, and moon is up front on the other! the wire wrapping around them also matches with whichever attendant is in front, so that it makes sense flipping from one side to the other. and if you look really closely at the base, it almost looks like someone wrote something on it with some markers…. :3c

i'm really really proud of how this turned out, and i'm so pumped and AMAZED at this fandom for hitting not only the main goal, but all of the stretch goals so quickly!!! YALL ARE INCREDIBLE

it has been an AMAZING experience getting to work with so many fantastic artists and creators - and our wonderful mods! they put everything together and really made this dream come to life!!!

touya-nii goes to the zoo in black denim jeans and a long sleeved black shirt and then spends the entire day complaining about the fact that he looks like a drowned lab rat—clothes soaked with sweat and absolutely clinging to him, hair drenched and stuck to his forehead and his temples and his ears and his neck in thick tufts of ivory. clumps hang in his gaze, trembling with each irritated brush of his lashes, drops of sweat balancing precariously on the points, and he can’t fucking see, goddamn it.

the only thing that stutters his constant complaining—nothing more than a momentary lull, but an instant of reprieve nonetheless—is when you tell him he looks really hot sopping wet with his own sweat…and that his abs look super sexy, outlined by his shirt like that <3 he still continues with his grievances of course, but now they’re grumbled out through a self-satisfied little smirk, paired with a quick glance at you through the corner of his eye (*ﾉωﾉ)

Funnily enough, Pete's pants loosely fit on May's hips because of how wide they are, and by proxy, her pants fit him. He hates this. She has jokingly held up a skirt to him before while at spencers.

Zuko jumped to his feet and shouted out into the night, “Great forest spirit! Hei Bai Spirit? Hei Bai! Come back here right now!”

His voice echoed and there was no response. No animals stirred because they were all dead or evacuated. He was utterly alone, the only source of heat his own… That wasn’t right. If he focused, he could still feel the distant smoldering embers that could spark up and consume the forest in flames again.

“Hei Bai! Did you want me to put those sparks out? Is that it? I promise I’ll do it if you just bring me back to where I was!”

Silence, deathly silence.

Zuko growled and shouted so loud his throat ached in protest, “HEI BAI!”

“Tui and La, shut up,” someone said directly behind him.

There was no heat for Zuko to pull from, and it felt wrong to call forth fire in this setting, so Zuko whipped around poised for hand-to-hand combat. 

A woman was daintily sitting on a scorched rock as if it were an ornate chair in a palace court. She was stunningly beautiful, even with only the starling to illuminate her. Or perhaps the starlight heightened her beauty. She had short, coiffed hair with a delicate hair ornament. Her pastel Earth Kingdom style clothes were somehow untouched by ash. She looked solid, real, but she perfectly blended into her surroundings without a heat signature. 

Zuko reflexively took a step back. “You're a spirit.”

“Wonderful deduction work,” the woman said, mockingly applauding.

What was with the attitude? Zuko narrowed his eyes and stepped forward threateningly. “Are you Hei Bai?”

The woman was not expressive, but the slight furrow in her brow somehow perfectly conveyed her offense. “Absolutely not. I cannot believe you would mistake me for that animal after stealing my name.”

Zuko’s vision narrowed on the beautiful woman. It was impossible. But, who else would accuse him of such a thing? Hesitantly, he lowered his arms from their combat stand and asked, “Huizhong?”

“It seems you’re not completely hopeless,” Huizhong said as she flicked a piece of spectral lint from her skirts. She stood and gracefully bowed. “Yes, I am Huizhong, of many titles, but the one you know me best for is Master Huizhong, Avatar Yangchen’s earthbending master.”

“What?” Zuko’s head was spinning. “Why?”

Huizhong lifted a single shoulder, hardly high enough to be called a shrug. “Hei Bai brought you here to help, but it’s too far gone to make itself understood. So I am here to help you help it.”

Zuko really shouldn’t be ungrateful. He should accept her help at face value and figure out what he could do to get back as quickly as possible… “Why you?” He immediately clasped his hands over his mouth, but there was no taking back his stupid question.

Huizhong raised her sleeves over her lower face as she said, “So many centuries have passed, but you are undoubtedly Akari’s heir.”

Warm pride filled Zuko’s chest, warding off the eerie, spiritual chill around him. “Really?”

“Ah, but there’s Yangchen’s naivety. No wonder they adore you, ” Huizhong said, rolling her eyes.

"Vercoopani ven ramaana lo Ky'naarar"

"I wish I could die in Winter / I'd rather die in Winter"

A mandalorian saying which comes from a popular ancient short poem, which is typically attributed to the ancient poetess Briika Yalo:

"Ner Cabur, ner Cyare,

Vercoopani ven ramaana lo Ky'naarar,

al ven ba'slana gar Oy'naarar"

"My Protector, my Lover,

I wish I could die in Winter,

but I'll leave you in Spring"

But the particularity of this poem, that made it so popular in the mandalorians' minds, are the terms "Ky'naarar" and "Oy'naarar"

Ky'naarar - "the time of death": ancient and poetic term used to both describe Winter and Old Age. Oy'naarar - "the time of life": ancient and poetic term used to both describe Spring and Youth.

And it is the use of this term, Ky'naarar, that gives the phrase a whole other meaning, as it does not express a wish to die during a specific time of the year, but a desire to live your whole life and to die of old age, instead of leaving in your youth.
