before you knew it though, you were dragged into the clubs dingy bathroom so your friend could reapply some of her lip gloss. 

ex bf (jack): 1 missed call

you had no idea why your ex would be calling you. sure your breakup was amicable, but that hadn’t meant that the two of you kept in touch. after jack had broken up with you, claiming that the long distance while he would be in michigan for the summer would be too much, you hadn’t reached out. and he hadn't either. 

you stepped away from the bathroom's large mirror and your group of friends, claiming that you needed to use the bathroom real quick. you walked into the furthest stall, away from the loud music, and quickly dialled jack back. all the alcohol in your system not letting you question whether or not calling him was a good idea or not. 

he picked up on the second ring. “y/n,” jack breathed into the receiver, almost sounding relieved that you had called him back. 

“hello,” your giggles were muffled as you moved your hand to cup your lips. you really should not have called him back.

you unlocked the stall door just as your friend's hand beat against it. the door swings open, knocking your hand and sending your phone tumbling to the ground. “is she done in there?” some random girl yells as she shoves her way into the bathroom. she pushes your phone out beneath the stall with her foot as she slams the door shut in your face. 

“asshole,” your friend whispers as she reaches down and picks your phone up for you. she stands up, staring down at your phone screen while the bathroom buzzes around you. “jack?” she finally questions, turning your phone towards you. your heart races, worried your friend had somehow stumbled across yours and jacks open text messages. how would you explain that? your friends would definitely tell you not to meet up with him and well… you wanted jack bad.

you snatched your phone back, and let out a loud sigh of relief as you realized your friend was just looking at jacks instagram that was at the top of your feed. “why haven't you unfollowed him yet?” she questioned, and you just shrugged. you peered at the photos again as your group of friends rejoined the others on the dance floor and… wow. you immediately lost all thoughts and coherence… this boy would be the death of you. you couldn't think of anyone hotter than him. 

you waited for your opportunity to escape. you would text your friends that you left and that you were tired as soon as you made it on the bus. luckily for you, there were buses shuttling people around every 15 minutes, so you wouldn’t have to wait long if it came down to it. 

“you single?” a guy shouted into your ear as he started dancing near you. you nodded, realizing that this could be another way out… if your friends saw you chatting up some guy, you would have an excuse to go “missing” for a while…

you slung one of your arms around the guy's shoulder as you continued jumping up and down to the music (your form of dancing), as you tried to catch one of your friends' eyes. 

it only took you half a song for one of your friends to notice the new guy, and she immediately gave you a small hands up. he's cute! your friend mouthed and you nodded enthusiastically to portray your part. you couldn't wait to see jack.

Howdy to my fellow Ivalice fashion enjoyers! I am a bun with a plan that involves some honest work of farming for glams. The idea is to organize enough people for a raid party and queue into Orbonne Monastery on repeat. We're here to do the honest work of helping each other leave with the glam pieces of one's desire.

Can I come even if I have no interest rolling for loot? Absolutely! The closer we are to wrangling up & filling out three full parties, the less we have to rely on party finder to fill out those empty player slots. The spirit of this event is helping your fellow adventurer, so tagging along and being here because you want to have fun is welcomed and appreciated~ -

It's been a while since I ran Orbonne, how long does it take? Not counting the queue time, the raid takes roughly 35 minutes on average! A rough run can easily add another 5 to 10 minutes. Queue times are trickier to calculate, because I've had to wait anywhere from 7-20 minutes. But hopefully queue times won't be an issue! *knock on wood* -

Will there be small breaks? Of course! Each run will be followed up with a 5-10 minute break to stretch/hydrate/etc. before queueing into the next run. -

I won't be able to run this the whole evening, is it okay to arrive late or dip out early? If you need to leave early for whatever reason, do what you need to do! But good communication is the key to running this event smoothly, so please fill out the spreadsheet accordingly or inform me ahead of time. As for the fashionably late, I can only guarantee it if there's an open slot in the party. -

Is there a dress code? Nope! But if some of you want to coordinate, be my guest! xD -

Can I come even though I never completed Orbonne Monastery? Not going to tell you no, but kindly suggest that you maybe run it at least once before the event. :) This event was organized in hopes of helping folks farm for possible glam items they're missing or want. I'm sure they would appreciate it if they didn't have to wait on cutscenes. -

I have prior plans that night, will you do another? Depends on how well this one goes! This is my first time organizing an event like this so it really depends on how well this one goes. Heck, I might consider organizing this for the other two Ivalice raids if there's enough interest! -

❓ I first learned about Whang-Od when I was still in college, maybe around 2007-08. I have always been fascinated but I have no plans to get a tattoo yet. From what I've heard, it's not very hygienic to get a "batok" tattoo. They said Whang-od uses the same "thorn" for everyone in line and only changes when it breaks. Aside from this, the road from the Buscalan drop-off to Whang-od's village is very difficult to traverse because of the steepness of the cliffs and the area being underdeveloped.

Fast forward to 2022, also because of the pandemic, I'm thinking about a lot of things that might never happen, and one of them is getting a tattoo from Whang-od. At that time, she was said to be 105 years old although this is debated.

I already have one tattoo, a machine tattoo, and for me it's time for a new tattoo (queue Urbandub). So I joined a tour to "Buscalan", which took around 14 hours from Manila. We arrived early morning, around 4am but they said we couldn't go to the village yet because it was dangerous to hike at dawn. So we waited for the sunrise before going up, actually, we went down and then went up.

Just to share, I just came from my work shift and haven't slept yet. I didn't get to sleep in the car either. I also didn't have breakfast before climbing. So when we were going up, the hike was supposed to be relatively easy, maybe 30 minutes. When we got close to the village, maybe 100 steps, I got a little dizzy haha. So I sat down for a while and rested. I was accompanied by a guide and the other climbers also helped. Someone gave me candy, someone picked any leaf from the side and rubbed it on my head.

Anyway, moving on. Per our tour guides, the area is now better developed, having a new path that is much easier to go through. There are portions of the walkways that are cemented, metal railings here and there, and a nice little bridge way. We arrived at the transient around 7am and Whang-od hadn't started tattooing yet. She would start at around 8am. They sell thorns at the transient which is used for the batok tattoo and it is individually required, which is good. So no more sharing thorns, and it also serves as a souvenir. It costs 100 each. While waiting to get a tattoo from Whang-od, you can get a tattoo from other artists and they will even come to your transient.

I chose a crab tattoo which symbolizes a "traveler". The artist ran the tattoo 3 times so yes, it is 3 times as painful too. But it did not prepare me for the pain Whang-od's tattoo would bring. She hits hard haha.

When Whang-od started around 8am, we took a peek at her. We also took pictures to see the vibe of the place. She would start with the previous day's "leftovers". So since it was Saturday, she prioritized those that were not finished on Friday. When we peeked at Whang-od, we also saw that there were white boards where the number of vans, names of the guides and how many pax were listed.

There were 24 cars on Friday, and 36 on Saturday. So let's say there are 10 pax in a car, that's a total of 360. At least 360 people want to get tattoos. So good luck to the "day trippers" because if you get to the village late, they will not be able to accommodate you.

It was around lunchtime when we got in line for Whang-od and the tattoo was quick. She only makes 3 dots design but with the number of people in line, you can see and feel that she is tired.

When it was my turn, I chose the 3 dots to be placed on the side of my wrist. For me, the machine tattoo hurts more than the "batok". But compared to the crab tattoo pain, Whang-od's whip hurts more. We all noticed that even though the thorn is still stuck in your flesh, she will hit you again. That's what hurts, but the whole tattoo session only took 2 minutes.

Whang-od's 3 dots only costs 150. 500 on the crab. The tour fee is 3,300 including the van and transient, as well as food, yes, food as in breakfast lunch dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. I just bought a T-shirt for 350. I would have liked to buy coffee (delicious promise), and keychains or magnets but I don't have any cash left (no data signal so no gcash).

⁉️ After a tattoo from Whang-od, you can do whatever you want. So we went to the rice fields or terraces, walked around the village, and took pictures.

We drank on Saturday night, and then after Sunday's breakfast, we left Buscalan. There is a little side trip to Benguet and Baguio. The term "core memory" is trending and this is one of my entries. Life in Buscalan is very simple. It's also good that sometimes you are disconnected from the internet and social media and away from your daily routines because while it may be tiring for the body, it is very fulfilling for the soul.

🍔 Review № 577 ━ 📍 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘅 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼. ★★★☆☆ • Uptown Night Market is held under a bridge in Harlem, New York, and is a celebration of all things food and culture. We were really hungry when we arrived, and were of course happy to find a food stall serving hamburgers. The Bronx Burger Co. is mainly a ghost kitchen serving food for delivery, but since they were on-site we felt that they deserved a review. Their menu consisted of a handful different burgers, and we ordered The Maple Bacon Cheeseburger with cheddar, maple glazed bacon and a Bx sauce for 9 USD. Despite a rather long queue we didn’t have to wait for long before we were handed a box with our food. • The burger looked decent enough, with nicely melted cheese and some crunchy looking bacon. But when we took our first bite we noticed several shortcomings. The beef was quite lean, and the low fat content made it a bit chewy. We also would have liked more sauce, as everything got a bit dry. The potato bun had been toasted nicely, and could easily have handled more sauces and beef juices if they’d just tried a little harder. Taste-wise the flavours worked well together, and we appreciated the bacon’s mix of savoury sweetness.
