I AM
Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
The word (Ehyeh) is the first person
singular imperfective form of (hayah), 'to be', and owing to the peculiarities of Hebrew grammar means 'I am and 'I will be'
See Hebrew Lexicon also
JEHOVAH
Exodus 6:3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
Isaiah 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
Isaiah 26:4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:
Psalm 83:18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.
JAH
Psalm 68:4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.
Yahweh is nowhere in scripture but it was
a lesser god in the polytheistic Canaanite
religion, where he was one of many deities under the figure El. However some scholars believe that Yahweh was originally a god of metallurgy worshipped by metal workers and smelters throughout the Levant including the Edomites and
Kenites.
You need to go through Jesus to get to God the Father
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Acts 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.4:11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Ephesians 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Where Are You Going?
Original photo by Ryoji Iwata on Unsplash Two weeks ago, my wife and I celebrated our first anniversary. It’s been an amazing year full of change, and we have many more changes on the horizon. A few months ago, sometime between our full-time jobs and family responsibilities and just settling into new rhythms as a married couple, we finally found some time to sit down and dream about our lives…

Serve the LORD!
Joshua 24: 14-18. Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve Him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the…

The Narrow Gate
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

There is no moment to low for God to scope down and lift us out of. No situation to messy that He can't restore.
When He says it is time, it is time.
We might not know when or how, but we know Who!
What is hard to God.

"Why Did You Doubt?"
Photo by Jeremy Vessey on Unsplash This sermon was preached for Capital Pres Fairfax on July 7, 2024  as a part of our series “Questions Jesus Asked.” Each week we explore a question Jesus asked in the course of his earthly ministry and consider what he might be asking us today through it. This week we considered Jesus’ question to Peter “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” in Matthew…

My house shall be called a house of prayer. Mark 11:17
Jesus did not call His house, the church, a house of worship, a house of praise or a house of preaching. He called it a house of prayer for all nations. Yes praise, worship and preaching are important but prayer is paramount. Therefore we come to the house of God primarily to pray.
The church was birthed through prayer in the Upper Room (Acts 2:1). Peter preached his first sermon and about 3000 people were added to their number. (Acts 2:41) This became the pattern of the early church. People of God, pray.
“If my people, who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways. Then, I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
