Here's why I loved Heket at first sight !!! It's amazing how she fits my favorite type of female character, like, "wait, is this a two-of-my-favorite-women-Elden-Ring reference??!?" And I guess that thought really influenced how I see Heket and her personality in general

I'm of the opinion that MCU!Loki would be far more willing to die to save MCU!Frigga than the other way around (even if she's interpreted as genuinely caring for him), and it has fucked up angst potential.

I love Leda and Frejya as a ship so much. They’re both murderous freaks but one has a lot more glory and class behind it. Frejya is more loyal to Leda than she is to Miquella, she would follow this woman to the ends of the Earth regardless of who they worked for. Leda trusts Frejya both in combat and companionship enough to send her out first to fight us at the end. The story of a woman with bloodshed carved directly into her soul, finding an inner softness around someone else who isn’t explicitly on her side of a war. Of a knight who slaughtered her brethren out of paranoia and a savior complex, only to put complete faith in someone she knew for such a short amount of time. Also Leda tops

go to the cat shelter after seeing cat of my dreams on their website. cat's info card doesn't have a gender listed, all staff are using she/her pronouns. assume cat is a girl. adopt her, name her Freyja.
spend a year calling her very gendered nicknames like 'lady', 'little miss ma'am', 'turkey ham sandwich', 'miss lady thing', etc. finally take her to the vet a year later to get her shots updated. Ask them if they can check her gender cause she's too fluffy for me to tell the difference.
surprise, it's a boy 🎉
"are you gonna change his name?"
no. sorry. nothing is safe from the woke left. she's just trans now.

“Shadow of the Erdtree was badly written because Freyja saying Radahn would happily return and wage endless war if given the chance is a huge retcon that ruins both characters”
I feel like maybe we as the player are simply supposed to recognize that Freyja was like. incorrect about this.

everything yen does on skellige in tw3 gives me the strongest she would not fuckin say that feelings imaginable
especially given her motivation in both the books and games is "desperately need to find ciri" and yet she acts wildly, viscerally different.
book yen on skellige: drops to her knees to help a stranger who's miscarrying, doubts the existence of any goddess but tries to acquire a magical artifact needed to find ciri by visiting a temple and agreeing to pray with the priestesses, literally earns the blessing of a goddess through her self-sacrifice and is freely given the magical artifact,
game yen on skellige: pisses everyone off, breaks in and steals a magical artifact needed to find ciri and then proceeds to blindly use it despite warnings, has no sympathy for a dead kid who literally died so ciri could escape, feels no remorse about her dead kid necromancy destroying the sacred garden of the same goddess who she literally was supposed to have earned the blessing of on this same island under the same circumstances and and--

Huitzilopochtli: I warn you, I've been training to kill since birth. Freyja: Wow, and how long have you been training to be a prat? Huitzilopochtli: You can't address me like that. Freyja: Sorry. How long have you been training to be a prat, my lord?

Okay so a while ago my friend and I were high as kites talking culture and spirituality and we related briefly over the importance of hair in our respective cultures/religions (as a white person in the US my culture is heavily diluted and heathenry fills the gaps).
It was our first time really truly hanging out so I didn't immediately infodump everywhere, especially since I was trying to listen to what they were saying about being Hochunk and the importance of braids. Since then the topic hasn't come up and the need to talk about hair hasn't left so Here I Go
The Norsemen smelled nice and had good hair and would routinely seduce women away from their homes, to the point that there's written advice to young Anglo Saxon men to not get the Viking haircut even if it's popular with the ladies. Their hygiene wasn't great by modern standards, but they bathed regularly and also ritually, with heavy emphasis on their hair. Combs are found as grave goods -- also just freaking everywhere. So many combs.
"Elf locks" are what you get when you've been touched by an elf, which isn't good. Elves are scary beings and a person with knots in their hair could be considered charmed or worse: a changeling. I'm mixing some cultures here, as this is predominantly an Anglo Saxon belief, but the cultures blended heavily thanks to the raiding.
Medieval people also had to deal with fleas and nits, a side effect of using your animals as home heating (though let's be clear they lived in different areas of the space! And this is a logical heating option for living near the Arctic). As a result, they would often bleach their hair! Which then was found attractive, dark hair turning a red and blondes turning bright blonde.
Hair is an important association in the mythology as well. While Norse Heathenry doesn't have a "canon" the myths can still give insight into their values, and many figures are described by their hair: Sif has golden hair like wheat or flax, Thor is ruddy, and Odin has a long beard.
Modern heathens often adopt hair care as a form of worship or ancestral connection, getting Norse haircuts or ritually brushing their hair. It's not a "requirement" of the faith (there are no requirements tbh) but it's a good way to connect. Personally I take my curly hair routine very seriously -- I gotta get all the hot Saxon women, after all!

Hey no one asked but I wanna talk about ✨ Freyja Montayne ✨
Tumblr media
I love this absolutely rough-n-tumble herbo of a giant woman SO DANG MUCH.
Why?
Because when I came into G/t I genuinely felt an emptiness for the kind of thing that my heart craved. I wanted to find a genuinely Giant woman who was big and strong, loud and proud, a big dork and the absolutely purest of sweethearts. I dumped everything that brought me joy in life—both platonically and romantically—into a character and just made her so self-indulgently.
Freyja is powerful, but gentle; immense, but kind; passionate, but patient. She truly is the kinda giant woman that I daydream about all the time because she just is all of my favorite parts of G/t and more.
I’m so excited to share more about her with y’all 💖
