❛ caress . gently caress my muse’s face .
Tumblr media
Faust flinches slightly. That little, gentle touch on his cheek brought him out of his trance as he looked out into the woods. The coroner hummed, nuzzling his face into Oliver's hand slightly on instinct - he oughta to stop that, perhaps? Maybe he spends too much time with his cats. He froze afterwards, but didn't move away unless Oliver did.
They were sitting by the front porch, looking into the setting sun and the rustling of the leaves from the woods. He realized that he didn't hear a single word Oliver had said to him in the past minute or two.
“Sorry, my mind drifted— I didn't mean to ignore you.” regret evident in his voice.

London Bridge
OPEN //  Location: GENESIS
Tumblr media
There were two people that lead the Italian mafia in Chicago named Oliver Faust. Oliver & Drunk Oliver. Most people could quickly realize which one he was by the overabundance of confidence that seemed to spike with his inebriation. He didn’t feel right leaving the kids at the house with the family, but he was slowly losing his mind. Amelia, the spy, was easy to justify and become angry over. Eva stumped him even now as he thought about it. It made no sense. None. He kept staring at his phone after each shot he took down, until the screen became blurred together.
Darkened gaze had been locked onto the stage, not enchanted by the dancer - but the lights. It’s then he gets the MOST DEVELOPED STUPID idea ever. He made his way into the back skeleton of Genesis, where the dancers switched into costumes. Each wardrobe was tossed behind him, until his gloved hands found the fireman costume. It worked, right? Oliver dropped his phone in the pile of clothing he had came in with, except the gloves he only took off to shower, and if he were able before he knocked out from exhaustion.
How many hours had he been awake now? Hard to say. The man towered over one of the DJ’s as he instructed them via slurred and arm squeeze the song he wanted to hear. They obliged, with the thought he just wanted to watch one of the dancers dance to it.  Once the first “OH SHIT” vocalized from the track it was followed by the “Oh SHIT!” by the DJ that noticed one of the microphones had been removed from the station. The siren announced his presence perfectly as the light shun down on him. One of his shoulders shook off part of the fireman’s coat to show a bare shoulder. The next audible , “oh SHIT!” was when Oliver rose up the microphone and started to dance rhythmically to London Bridge. Was he the best singer? Uh, No. However..
“Are you ready for this?” “It’s me -- Ollie.”

Depending on where you are in the hotel, you’ve either had a night of quickly mounting tension or a night of … relative relaxation. The blizzard still mourns outside, howling through the blanketed streets and hurling its flurries at the hotel which sways beneath your feet if you stand still for long enough. The patrons locked in their quarters can do nothing but let the rocking lull them to sleep in hopes they’ll find their ways home by daybreak. Of course, there are still plenty of winter hours to get through before the sun can peel away the darkness, and just as sleep filters in through your lashes, you hear a ‘ click. ’ Everyone around you hears it, too, and for once there’s unity in the room as the group decides as a unit to investigate. Well, save for one, who is well aware of what that click means. It comes from the bathroom, so you all venture in, and the locked door stationed by the sink swings open. Standing on the other side of the threshold—and looking just as befuddled—are your neighbors, those five in the adjacent room who look just as cold and hungry as you do. It’s a good and bad thing; you’ll have more company, more snacks to go around courtesy of the minibar and, with any luck, more friends than enemies in one place, though you still find a few idle pairs of steely eyes narrowing on you.
In short, there’s a bright side and a not-so-bright side: each room has opened up via the bathroom to allow a bigger expanse for you and your fellow patrons to explore, though the possibility of it all leading to even more tension is too high for comfort. Still, it’s better to cozy up with nine other bodies than only four … right ?
PART II of the Lights Out event has begun ! This part will conclude on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 8TH at 9 P.M. EST. For this part of the event, your characters’ rooms have opened, allowing muses to move between the room they’ve been assigned to and the adjacent one.

As a reminder, your groups are under the cut. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Admin J or Admin Amy for clarification ! ( And don’t be afraid to get some good plots cookin’—now is the time for drama ! )

A PROFILE OF YOUR MUSE.   REPOST, DO NOT REBLOG.
Tumblr media
NAME.   murdoc faust niccals. he was born murdoc alphonce niccals, but changed his middle name as part of his bargain with satan. it’s just about the only part of the bargain he willingly held up. NICKNAME(S).    muds, mudsy, (uncle) murdy, and a handful of colourful insults we won’t be mentioning here. ALIAS(ES).    has gone through a number of different stage names and fake aliases over the years. he doesn’t bother keeping track. AGE.   verse dependent. 37 going on 38 in my main-verse with @grcndel ( which currently takes place in early 2004 ), a few months shy of 53 as of 2019. SPECIES.    has always believed himself to be human, but his green skin, long claws, sharp teeth and pointed ears suggest otherwise. he doesn’t think much of it and most people don’t bother bringing it up. GENDER.   male. ORIENTATION.    he’s a repressed gay man suffering from compulsory heterosexuality, leading him to believe he's bisexual. INTERESTS.    creating and consuming music ( his favourite genres being black metal and dub / reggae ), lyricism, anthropology, philosophy, sociology, reading / literature analysis, working with machinery ( especially cars ), engineering, biology, science, genetics, mathematics, astronomical studies, biological and paleontological research, video games, watching and analyzing films, studying / exploring / practicing the occult, marine life, sailing, falconry, avians as a whole. PROFESSION.    currently murdoc is the bassist, self-proclaimed leader and one of the primary songwriters of gor.illaz, an alternative rock band that’s been around since 1998. he also has an international baccalaureate degree in “antisocial anthropology”, a pharmaceutical degree ( a somewhat questionable one, given that he obtained it through a series of online tests in prison ), which he later bumps up to a full-blown phd in some verses. prior to finding international success with go.rillaz, murdoc was the lead vocals of numerous other bands that never really got off the ground, and worked multiple low-paying odd jobs in order to pay sebastian niccals’ rent. these included gravedigger, soup-seller, telemarketer and part-time mall santa. BODY TYPE.    very slender / rectangle shape. he carries most of his weight in his chest and belly area. his shoulders and arms are well-defined, and his thighs are strong, if slightly chubby. his chest, waist and hips are all roughly the same size, with a straight torso shape. he has gangly limbs. EYES.    light brown eyes that can appear hazel under certain lighting. he used to wear a bright red contact lens in his right eye to play up his role as a satanist. HAIR.    naturally inky black. he began to go grey, especially around the temples, when he hit his late 30s; he quick took to dying it to hide this. his hair is naturally wavy, something he “corrects” with product. in terms of style, he has shaggy fringe bangs a cowlick that sticks out from the top of his head. SKIN.    verse / phase dependent. he’s always been medium-to-dark skinned ( phase 1 ), but the colour began to shift to more of an olive-green ( starting in phase 2 ) as he grew older. FACE.    striking but odd-looking. very wide mouth. narrow chin. high, angular cheekbones.  squashed-looking nose with a busted bridge; very high on his face. extremely large, wide-set eyes. thick eyebrows that are usually hidden under his bangs. HEIGHT.    5′6″ barefoot, 5′8″ in his cuban heels. if anyone asks, he’s 5′9 or 5′10″. COMPANIONS.    his bandmates –  russel hobbs, noodle kyuzo and stu “2D” pot. they’re the closest thing to family he has and probably the only people on earth who can tolerate him for prolonged periods of time. ANTAGONISTS.    christ, who hasn’t murdoc made an enemy of at this point? but the ones who keep cropping up to cause serious trouble include satan himself ( or beezlebub; murdoc isn’t clear who exactly he made the bargain with, seeing as he uses these two names interchangeably ), possibly pazuzu ( assuming that pazuzu and gor.illaz’s version of satan aren’t the same entity ), little jimmy manson, the black cloud and the boogieman. seeing that cyborg noodle tried to kill him last time they were around each other, muds can’t say he’s keen on the idea of ever running into her again, either. COLOURS.    mint green, olive green, russet brown, smoky grey, jet black, royal purple, crimson red, white, ocean blue, turquoise. FRUITS.    dragonfruit, pomegranates, cherries, peaches, coconuts, starfruit, bananas, limes, strawberries, kiwis, dewberries, honeydew, cantaloupe, prunes, horned melons, lychees, passion fruit, longans, rambutan. DRINKS.    pomegranate juice, orange juice, strawberry-kiwi juice, peanut butter and banana smoothies, spiced cider punch. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES?    anything he can get his grubby mitts on, but especially rum, black vodka, whiskey, strongbow cider and vodka umbongo. SMOKES?    constantly. he’s a chainsmoker; it’s become compulsive for him. DRUGS?    he’s tried a little bit of everything, even developing a full-blown addiction to speed back in the early 1990s. these days, he tends to fall back on cocaine when he needs a pick-me-up, marijuana when he needs to relax, or LSD when he’s really hating himself.
DRIVERS LICENSE?    believe it or not, he does have one! it’s been suspended numerous times for driving recklessly or driving under influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Salva Me, Fons Pietatis
Author’s Note: I don’t know why I do this to myself, but hi. I’m here with the first part of a three-four part fic, based around the events that happen before the game takes place. Featuring my lovely Apprentice, Nargis Vyr (who’s face claim is the gorgeous Cindy Kimberly)!  Rating: General Audiences (rating will go up within the next installment) Characters: Asra, the Magician, Julian Devorak, Faust, Nargis Vyr Warnings: None right now.  Word Count: 1223
“I’m not sure if I follow,” Nargis began, arms crossing over her chest. “You want us to leave Vesuvia? Because of a plague that we’re trying to cure?” She asked, head tilting to the side, jade hues narrowing as Asra continued to pace around the shop, gathering little bottles and clothes and shoving them into a bag. Faust curled around her neck, hiding beneath long, straight raven locks. “Tell me how that makes any sense, lover? It doesn’t.”
Asra sighed irritably, dragging tanned hands through white strands, tugging on the ends. “We can’t stay, because there is no cure. We can’t catch it. I can’t stand by and watch you catch it.” He explained, turning to face his lover with a desperate look. “I’d never forgive myself if you fell ill with the plague, Gis. We have to leave.”
“And leave the people of Vesuvia alone? With no help?” Shaking her head, she took a step back from Asra. The look on his face made her chest clench- heart break, longing, desperation. But as quickly as it appeared, it left, leaving a blank mask in its place. “I refuse to leave them. They need help. And even if it means risking getting sick… It’s worth it.” She decided, swallowing down the lump in her throat as Faust poked her head out.
‘Friend not going?’ Faust asked, tongue tickling her cheek. A soft laugh escaped Nargis as she shook her head, willing herself not to cry.
“No, Faust. I’m staying. You… You make sure Asra stays safe, okay?” She murmured as Faust slithered down her arm onto the counter top, head tilting to the side. “Keep him safe for me. I have work that needs to be done here.”
“Stop being so selfless!” Asra suddenly exclaimed, making Nargis jump in surprise. “For once, think of your fucking self!”
“Do not raise your voice at me,” Nargis interjected, voice cold as ice and dripping in venom. “If you’re so dead set on leaving, then leave. I’d rather not argue with someone who thinks yelling at me will gain my favor.” The moment the words left her, she wished she could take them back. But it was too late, the damage had been done. Asra had frozen in place, staring at her in shock, and a single tear trailed down his cheek. “Leave, Asra.” She whispered, voice shaking. “Run, like you always do.”
Asra shook his head once before grabbing hold of his bag and holding his arm out, allowing Faust to climb up and settle around his neck. “Goodbye, Nargis.” His voice was soft, and watching him walk away made the tears she’d been holding back begin to form. He paused, lingering in the doorway, a hand curled around the door frame. “I hope you’ll be safe,” he spoke into the silence before stepping out, allowing the door to close behind him softly. The tears began to fall, trailing down golden cheeks. Slowly, she crumpled, falling first to her knees, before doubling over, forehead resting on the ground.
How long she’d spent there, she couldn’t say. It was dark by the time she rose. She barely managed to make it to the bed she’d shared with Asra for years before she collapsed again, breathing in his scent- of waterfalls and spice and Asra- as she fell into a fitful slumber.
When she awoke the next day, it was with determination. She would help- she had to. She’d heard of an opening in a clinic, the doctor needing help. Julian, his name was; he’d come by the shop a few times before to purchase herbs. He and Asra had seemed to get along well. Though her heart still ached, she held her head high as she dressed, pulling the silken robes on, forgoing a shawl for practicality purposes. As she left, she paused, studying her reflection; the robes were from Asra, a gift for her birthday the year prior. Soft as air and with movements like water, colored a light emerald with golden trim work and accents, it was beautiful.
It took all her might to look away, to force the memories of him away.
Leaving the shop after locking up, she pulled her bag close and made her way through the winding paths of the city. By the time she reached the clinic, the sun had rose to the center of the sky, beating down upon the city. Nose wrinkling in irritation, she slipped inside, closing the door behind her. It was empty, for the time being. Completely empty, she noted with a raised brow. It allowed her time to wander, studying the multitude of medical books, flipping through a few. She already had a decent knowledge of how it worked, medicine. Though, the diagram in the book fascinated her- the brain, it read.
“Oh, I apologize,” a lilting voice spoke, making her jump. Eyes wide, she quickly turned, ready to apologize, only for the words to catch in her throat. “Are you here to see me? Well, of course you are, that was a silly question. Are you ill? Injured?” The man asked as he removed his gloves, red, curly hair falling into warm brown eyes. Julian, she remembered. That was his name.
“I, I’m sorry, the door was open and I just assumed…” She began, though she trailed off as embarrassment washed over her, golden cheeks darkening. “I’m terribly sorry.”
“No need to apologize, I just stepped out to make a house call.” Julian replied with a smile, before gesturing towards the back of the clinic. “I take it you aren’t injured…?”
“No! No, I’m… I heard you needed some help. I’ve already some basic training, and I can suture wounds and reset bones…” The explanation was rushed, giving Julian pause. Brows raising, he turned, studying the woman. She was… Attractive, if he were being honest. Skin a rich olive, eyes that could put jade to shame, and hair as black as a raven’s wing.
Nodding, he leaned against the wall, arms crossing over his chest. “I do need the help, and by what you’ve said, you’re more than qualified. What do you know of the plague?”
“It has a slow onset. It starts with a watery cough, and then the fever comes. With the fever comes delusions, and the sclera of the eyes begins to turn red- like the blood vessels are bursting. And then…” She trails off, shrugging. “And then they are sent to the Lazaret.”
Julian was impressed. Lips pursing, he thought it over; he did need the help, and she did know a fair share… Sighing, he drug a hand through his hair, musing the curls. “Alright. Normally, I’d ask for a license, but considering I don’t even have one, we can skip that formality- oh, forgive me, I never even asked your name!” He realized, cheeks flushing. How rude of him, to forget to ask a lady’s name!
“Nargis. Nargis Vyr.” She replied with a delicate laugh, holding out a hand. Though, instead of shaking it, Julian grasped it within his own and raised it to his lips, brushing a delicate kiss against the henna covered knuckles. It made heat rise up her throat, into her cheeks, darkening them.
“Well, Miss Nargis, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. And a pleasure to begin working with you.”

There were many things to fall upon Oliver’s lap in the past 24 hours between trying to explain abandonment to his five year old, to his younger sister having been the freshest kidnapping. There’s still that anger that it took half the morning arguing with people to get to their PLACE. That time could have been spent starting the search. He put Matty on a small little project to delay having to explain that Amelia O’Shea had left on her own acord he assumed. Then to follow that up with, ‘by the way your aunt Effie got taken’ might be a bit much. He waited until all were gathered in the manor.
Oliver had already made sure at least Matty had ate and went upstairs to play with his toys whilst the grown ups talked downstairs. He stared at all his subordinates, all his family, because that’s what the Fausts were - blood or not. That had always been their philosophy.  To distract himself while Matty helped him decorate the teams, he had made a lasagna from scratch. Now he clutched the casserole dish with his gloves on that he always wore.
The anger bubbled to the surface as he lunged the casserole dish full of lasagna across the room. “First of all. Never be late to check in again. If I have to put a bullet into your leg to ensure you’re safe, then I will do so.” His voice past the emotion of slightly irritated. “Looks like dinner will be another hour or so. Chalk that up to some of you owe me hours of worry without even a text back.” Just like the oven, his tone had became dry.
“The reality is one of ours is among the missing now. We don’t have the luxury of going to the cops like all these other fuckers. Everyone is to stay at the manor, except for Noah. Because we don’t want the cops to come here to be curious. If anyone leaves this manor they better have someone with them. Preferably above the rank of Associate that knows how to use a gun. Noah will be in charge of Intel to myself, Darcy,or teddy. Angel with her...”
He motioned to the woman. “CONDITION. Will be on full time guard duty here at the manor. Everyone else has their teams.” He walked over tot he fridge and started to magnet the construction paper to the fridge. “Three teams, Search every inch of Chicago on your shift. You will get a reprieve, and then you will be on guard duty. It rotates on a morning, afternoon, evening shifts. You all will be expected to call off yours jobs and devote yourself to this. Because it could very well be you missing next. Team one will be lead by me, we will search in the morning, be on guard duty in the evening. Team two will be lead by Teddy, you will search in the afternoon, guard duty in the morning. Team three will be lead by Darcy, you will search in the evening, guard in the afternoon. Questions?  ” The edge of his voice and eyes locked onto the people under his care almost DARING them.
“One more thing. If any of you alert anyone outside of our family here about Effie’s disappearance, I will consider that an act of treason on the highest degree. No cops. Except well, Noah.”

The Washington Gala: Chicago Day of Giving Part II
The night winds down, and the guests gather up their belongings for the long trek home when a voice rings out from the stage, presenting the winner of the door prize. Everyone holds their breath in hopes they’ll be presented with the Bugatti parked out front, draped in a bright red bow and the object of every patron’s desire. The speaker sucks in a breath as he tears into the envelope, just wrapping his lips around a name when a high-pitched, technical beep shrieks from under the stage. The platform bursts into flame, blowing debris, blood, and entrails into the first few rows of tables—and the panic sets in. The guests turn on their heels and find the exits blocked by burly Vasiles cradling machine guns in their arms and wolfish grins on their lips. There’s only one escape, and that’s to the maze garden, but anyone can guess it’s a mouse trap with its winding walls and dead ends. Still, choices are limited and adrenaline is rushing, so the crowd takes the bait, scurrying past the threshold and into the garden. The Vasiles are locked and loaded, hidden in the shadows and thirsty for victims.
In part II, your character has a choice. You may stay with your group and work together—even with your enemies—to survive, or you can search for a familiar face and pray you all make it out alive. Only the Vasiles and police officers have weapons, save for the tableware your muse may have swiped up before fleeing to the maze garden. Avoid the fountain in the center of the maze; there will be someone waiting for you. No matter how you choose to go about it, there’s one rule of thumb to abide by: don’t get c a u g h t.
The Washington Gala: Chicago Day of Giving Part II begins now and ends on Monday, June 1st, at 11:59 p.m. EST. You’re welcome to have your characters injured ( or injure others, with permission from the mun ), just please let us know beforehand. Again, you may opt to stay in your groups, or your character can find their respective families/connections and work in tandem to escape.
As a reminder, your groups are under the cut—sans the Vasiles, of course.

slurred words oliver & gemma
“He’s my big brother. There’s not much I can say that’s negative about him. He’s a strong leader and he knows what he’s doing. Was I pissed when he left to serve and came back half dead? Abso-fucking-lutely. Not to worry though, I gave it right back when I served in the Navy, except I came back whole. Regardless, I can separate my brother from my boss, so there’s not a lot of issues there. Don’t tell him I said this, but truthfully, I don’t know where I’d be without him and I’d do anything for him.”

🧠 fire (lenny)
Send🧠+ a word for my a headcanon for my muse in association with that word.
Lenny was part of the team sent out to put out the fire at Faust Manor. It was a painful day for everyone. He remembers coming over there to have drinks with Oliver and Chris. How nice it was to see Oliver being an excellent dad to Matty. His heart broke for the man he considered his brother.
