So I made an observation today

The greed team camping trip is extremely funny for obvious reasons but can you imagine how Darius and Heinkel felt interacting with Ling for the first time? Like Greed probably had something to do with their opinions 180ing from "being turned into a chimera ruined my life" to "actually, i can make the best of the body i have now" SO they probably like him. But Ling?? All they know about him is 1) he's a prince from Xing 2) he's Ed's age and 3) Ed and Greed constantly talk shit about him but in the same Weirdly Fond way so he must be an alright guy?

And then Greed hands over control to him for an hour or something and they're like. Oh Fuck this kid is a Freak with a capital F. He's chipper and silly as hell and he antagonizes Ed like a normal annoying 16 yr old but then another country is mentioned and he has in-depth knowledge of their culture and he can also speak the language fluently??? Then later he's talking to Ed about Someone and they're like, "'Lan Fan', is that your friend?" and he cheerfully responds "Oh she's my vassal, she cut her arm off for me so I'm really worried about her ahaha"

I'm running out of count of the times I have went "reminder nobody fucking knew Hunter was being abused because Belos purposefuly isolated him so he wouldn't have anybody else to go to" because people loooove to blame Darius for it and nobody else in that goddamn castle (seriously, even Eberwolf did more harm than him long term, with the growling and all). How come he gets blamed as if he had done that!!! He didn't fucking know!!! How was he supposed to know!!!

If you're looking for someone who knew and was cruel on purpose anyway, Kikimora is right there.

Nobody has ever said he was in the right for being rude to him in Any Sport but from that to act as if he purposefuly mocked an abused kid is a huge leap. He didn't know! He was letting his own trauma and rashfulness get ahead of him but he wasn't cruel on purpose and he made up for it!!!

Get some media literacy. Or examine your biases, idk.

Oh, but what always gets me about this moment:

Is the specific word choice of 'protecting'. Because it doesn't seem like the most obvious word choice. The writers could have written it as 'helping' or something like 'actually turned out we were on the same side'. There were probably ways to describe Darius's actions that would have been more straight forward and would have explained better whatever happened with Raine and the rebels.

Instead the focus is on Darius trying to protect them, and Raine wasn't even close to him at that point in time!

And, in-universe, do you think Darius himself would've put it like that when explaining his actions to Raine, or was the 'protecting you' part something they've figured out themselves😭
