Code Realize for the fandom talk thing?

SEND ME A FRANCHISE OR SERIES AND I WILL TALK ABOUT IT - Accepting!

The way I feel about Code: Realize is the way I feel like a lot of people who like romantic fantasy/romantasy genre view Sarah J. Maas stories (Throne of Glass, A Court of Thorns and Roses, Crescent City): a lot of time spent on worldbuilding and developing the characters, little in the way of actual romance (and smut, in the books' cases), but Strong Badass Heroines.

To that end: both Code: Realize and SJM's works are kind of...outliers in the genre of otome and romantasy, respectively? I feel where otome is concerned, many fans look for quicker (not instant, but quicker!) romance with all of the LIs than what Code: Realize offers and in turn, get frustrated with the game.

This, IMO, is a mistake: because Code: Realize may not be the best example of an otome game, but it is an excellent story!

Code: Realize, usually, is the otome game I suggest for people to try who don't like romance games. They don't like romance novels or romantic dramas and think lovey-dovey fictional romance where a heroine has the chance to romance a harem of men played out on the page and screen is stupid and boring and they will definitely not like it.

Spoiler: If they play Code: Realize, they usually end up liking it.

So, all of that is to say: this franchise gets such a bad rap in the otome fandom because otome players are playing it expecting certain tropes to be met without evaluating it on the story and character development as a whole.

Yes, it sets up a lot of backstory and worldbuilding. And yes, not every route will be everyone's favorite, but I think it's a disservice to dismiss this game whether you're a big fan of otome or you think the genre isn't for you.

Now that said, my personal takes:

Cardia is one of the best/favorite heroines I've ever had the pleasure to meet in otome games. To be fair, I've backed off playing these for a bit in favor of romantic fantasy and contemporary romantic fiction: a lot of the common themes or tropes that grate on me about otome (wilting flowers/helpless heroines, controlling LIs bordering on sexual assault, everything about Yang from Piofiore and Toma from Amnesia) can be avoided much more easily in novels if you read the trope/trigger warnings. But Cardia doesn't have the wilting flower problem: yes, she has poison in her skin as a weapon but she's also just really cool? While other players rolled their eyes at the extensive training scenes in the main story, I really liked that she learned from all of the love interests before choosing a route. She gained useful skills! This also reminds me of Feyre training with members of the Night Court in ACOTAR.

I fully embrace Steampunk Code: Realize London is not adhering to any historical accuracy, and yet I'm still digging it. I'm also weak for classic literature references (Sonia and I share this trait, to no one's surprise), so it's fun pointing out "OH IT'S A NOD TO THIS!" during the games.

I'm not a fan of fandisc sequels for otome games as the side stories are usually paper thin and pretty dull in comparison to the main one (though I may bite the bullet and buy the CupiPara FD that just came out), but Code: Realize did this mostly pretty well. I like the first fandisc/second game better than the second fandisc/third game as far as extra story content goes. I am also biased because we finally got the Van Helsing kiss CG in the second game (the only kiss CG left out of the original game? Really, developers? Why must you do my fictional BF so dirty like this?).

My aversion to Impey Barbicane is entirely because he is the unholy combination of Kazuichi Soda from Danganronpa and Duo Maxwell from Gundam Wing, two characters who are just Not Sexy to me. Sonia's aversion to Impey in a modern Code: Realize verse is entirely due to the fact that he reminds her of Kazuichi.

My least favorite route in the original game was St. Germain's. I don't like him, he gives me the ick. My favorite routes besides the final one are Abraham van Helsing and Victor Frankenstein. Van Helsing for the backstory, Victor for his character development. Victor is also so underrated. If I had to choose any of them for a husband, I'm picking Victor Frankenstein any day of the week.

But because this is a roleplay blog...

I ship Sonia with Van Helsing, Lupin, and Victor, in that order. Only one of these is actually in development, with @scarlxtleaves' Arsene Lupin in a modern Code: Realize verse. He's saved her life and she still thinks he's sus due to the over-the-top flirtation (and yes, she has taken into consideration that he is French and therefore it is in his nature to do so). Her struggle, besides staying alive and safe from terrorists who wish to kill her, is figuring out that Lupin's affection towards her is genuine interest and care with real feelings behind it and not just flirting with her for fun and/or friends with benefits.

I believe in her, even though she's not exactly the brightest bulb when figuring out that someone really is in love with her.

Finally: the Code: Realize anime, just like the Umineko anime, is complete garbage and you should forget it even exists. Just play the games instead.

Do you have any headcanons or thoughts about your WOL's relationship with Tataru?

Stella honestly adores Tataru so much. The motherly type of way that she has of making sure Scions are safe means a lot to Stella considering she lost both her parents at such a young age, and the AU Ra has a habit of not taking care of herself. Which worries Tataru a lot, to the point that there have been times that Tataru has had to keep a close eye on Stella. 

The biggest example is a small thread I was doing with @crystalmarred where Stella ends up pushing herself too hard and Tataru has to help take care of the warrior of light by grabbing some water and medicine for the Au Ra. It's a small thing we wrote about a while back, but it's that kind of dynamic that she has with Tataru. I want to write more with these two because honestly Tataru deserves more love for the things she does. It was so hard for her to stay behind so much while the Scions dive headfirst into whatever issue needs solving. There are times in the game where you can truly see how worried she is because, on one hand, she doesn't know how they are all doing or fears for their safety. 

Thank you for this question though, as Tataru is certainly a character that means a lot to Stella and one of the people that has done so much help her get where she is today.

You're not the type to be jealous or insecure. Especially not about your boyfriend. You trust him with all your heart, you can never blame him for anything because he is simply perfect. Adorable and perfect.

And yet, here you are in this situation. It had become usual for everyone now, to see Lando alongside beautiful models. Pretty women, with perfect and angelic faces, elegant posture and careful gestures. Even more so when he was partying.

You didn't see any problem with it. Since after all, Lando always made you feel like the most beautiful woman, Lando always reassured you that he only had eyes for you. And you know, you can't deny a fact that is true.

But seeing him constantly surrounded by these models was perhaps something that saddened you today. So, you locked yourself in your hotel room, while Lando continued to test the car on the track. He asked you about your health, if you were okay, but you just said you were tired.

Sometimes you would glance at Instagram, instantly regretting opening the app the second different posts of Lando alongside these girls popped up. You couldn't stand this.

It's probably toxic and unhealthy, but you can't help but feel insecure. After all, who wouldn't want a rich and handsome Formula 1 driver? Especially when that meme man is a lovable personality.

The day passed slowly. You heard the distant sound of the Formula 1 engines, thinking of Lando who was driving one of them. You regretted the moment he returned to the hotel. You didn't want to appear so weak and insecure in front of him, knowing that this isn't the first time you've talked about it.

But yet, despite your complexes, despite the fact that you felt apart, Lando was always there to comfort you about your relationship.

“Hello, sweetheart.” The day is over, since you yourself are surprised to see Lando standing in front of you. You try as best you can to come back to reality, giving your lover a weak smile. “Ooh my baby, I missed you so much”. His body collapses onto yours, as he nestles his head in the crook of your neck.

You delicately stroke his curly hair, while he snuggles a little closer to you. “I missed you too, Lan.” “Of course you missed me, you stayed at the hotel all day.” A silence settles in, you didn't really know what to answer. You didn't want to tell him about your insecurities.

"Sorry. I don't like leaving you alone on the track." He lifts his head slightly, just enough for his eyes to meet yours. "Don't apologize, baby. You needed some rest." His lips press against yours, gently, delicately.

You already feel better, just from this simple kiss. It's unfair the way he manages to console you, to comfort you just by his simple presence. "I've been thinking about you all day. Even when I was in the car." His voice is muffled since his face is still hidden in the crook of your neck.

Still, it makes you smile. “You can’t do without me Lando.” You giggle slowly, while you feel a smile appear on his face. "Absolutely, I'm obsessed with you. Maybe a little too much... Fuck, I love you so much princess." A soft laugh escapes his throat as his arms wrap a little tighter around you.

But these words are enough to make you cry. Of joy, of sadness? You don't really know, but on the other hand you know that Lando's sincerity is the source of your tears. Because even without being aware of your insecurities, he manages to make them go away. To chase them away.

He always knew how to make you feel special and unique, make you feel his. Through his words and actions, he always showed only love and tenderness towards you. And even without talking about your problems, he manages to solve them with a snap of his fingers, thanks to his way of showing his affection.

Your wet tears fall on his hair, running down his neck. He senses that something is wrong, and suddenly raises his head to look at you. His face falls as he searches your face and your gaze for an answer.

"Oh my baby. Why are you crying?" He sweeps the tears from your cheeks with his thumb, cupping your face in the process. You take a deep breath, trying to calm your sobs. His lips place soft, long kisses on your face, while he gives you time to find your words.

“Take your time, princess. I’m here with you, I won’t leave.” You smile weakly at him as your tears fall once again. "I know it's childish, Lan but-" "Hey, don't ever say that again. Your problems aren't childish, you have the right to feel how you feel." He cuts you off, an expression of displeasure displayed on his face.

You nod slowly, sniffling otherwise. "I'm just... it annoys me a little to see you surrounded by pretty girls and models. I know we've talked about this before and it's something I need to work on with myself... “He encourages you to continue, gently caressing your cheeks.

"But I still feel a little insecure about it. I know you love me and I trust you, but sometimes it makes me insecure. I'm just afraid you'll find someone better than me." Lando's lips seem to curl down, to the point where his face resembles that of a puppy.

“Oh my baby girl.” He doesn't wait a second before kissing you languorously, his hands anchored on your cheeks, caressing them ever so gently. He pulls back, a soothing smile plastered on his lips. "How could I find anyone better than you? You are the very definition of the girl of my dreams."

You can't help but roll your eyes as a smile takes over. Which makes Lando smile more. “I only have you in my thoughts, my dreams and my heart. Only you my girl”. He kisses you lightly again, not being able to stop himself from smiling.

His eyes admire you as if you were the most beautiful thing on earth. Which is totally the case for him. “You know I love and care about you, right?” He leans down again to kiss the tip of your nose, as you nod eagerly. “I love you so much, Lan. I’m so in love with you.” You can only say these words in a low whisper.

His eyes crinkle into another smile, a most affectionate smile. “Then let me show you how much I am in love with you too, pretty girl”. And without further ado, he doesn't hesitate to cover your entire face with thousands and thousands of kisses.

i was a crying mess this game, because my best friend in the entire world, my other half, my big brother, scored two goals tonight! (notice how i used all nice pictures because i’m so unbelievably proud of him!) (sorry meme fans) and not only that! he also had the primary assist on kuzy’s goal— giving him a three point night!

quinn has always been a star in my heart (not a dallas one but… well you get it) and tonight, he was first star for the first time as captain! needless to say, i immediately bursted into tears when the canucks posted those videos. this was 100% a scrapbook worthy game! (p.s. trevy, we need to go to michaels)

ALSO shoutout to my fav blonde princess for having a four point night! two of those points came from assists on both of quintin’s goals! thanks b.b!

benny absolutely loves video games and will want to play a few with you even if you don’t like video games

which if you’re with him there a good chance you love them too

but if you don’t you will most likely start liking them even just a bit because he makes them fun

getting to spent time with him and watch him do something he loves makes it special

it also can be really funny

can guarantee at least once he’d say “watch this babe” or “this ones for you” and immediately fail/die

this is also something that definitely happens in the outside world with him trying to throw something away or something

also i don’t know shit about video games so i cannot go into anymore detail then this lol

is 100% down with spontaneous movie nights whether that be binge watching movies at home or going to the theater

if it’s a movie he’s obsessed with but you’ve never seen he will be trying his hardest not to info dump and potentially spoil the whole thing

but if it’s a movie he knows you have seen he is more than willing to explain every single fact about it he knows

“did you know that while filming this bit they had film it completely in reverse to make it look like that?? insane right!?”

speaking of movies if it’s a horror/scary movie you can bet he will try to act all tough and not scared before it starts

even if you already know how much of a scaredy cat he is he will try to play it off

but the second the first jumpscare happens there will be popcorn flying everywhere

he is no longer allowed to hold the bowl

you’re still finding popcorn in the couch

he will still continue to pretend that he’s not scared despite shaking like a scared chihuahua

you will have to be the one to grab onto him

which then leads to him hiding his face into your neck or behind you

he still refuses to let you turn it off even if you insist it’s okay

there is a part of you that feels bad but also a part that thinks it’s so funny

your contact names in each others phones are han solo and princess leia

the only suggestions i will take on this is that yours is han and his is leia

will take you to every convention within driving distance

if the convention if for some game/show/movie you don’t know be prepared for a whole powerpoint presentation or a weekend of binge watching whatever media it is

at some point there is a competition on who can get the most candy

if he loses, he will say that the candy was just too hard to resist, and he had to eat just one piece that turned into him eating many pieces

side note if you can go a whole night of trick or treating without eating a single piece of candy while doing so i don’t believe you

Sonia, her curiosity now highly piqued after two hours of negotiations with the capital's grandest public library (outside of the private one housed in Novoselic Castle) to restore some long-buried texts for the Family in exchange for a benefit gala to be held to show them off to the world, was more than happy for the diversion. The minute legal details would be seen to by her family's legal team, but the library did insist on the Royal Family's presence and patronage. The former would lead to the latter by no small amount of the aristocracy and newly rich alike in order to help several initiatives, one of which she'd asked Wylan to do in her stead that day. It was, at least, far more thrilling than keeping him behind closed doors and in a slew of history, culture, economic, and etiquette lectures, to name a few. After all, it was an audience Sonia hated to disappoint.

As she walked beside the head librarian, a balding man approaching seventy whom, when she was a child, had added a manga section at the young princess's insistence, Sonia smiled. They were approaching the children's section, a beloved part of the vast building for several reasons: it was one of the few places where food and drinks were allowed in limited quantities, it had a vast supply of beanbag chairs, pillows, and miniature tables stacked with various literary-themed toys to peruse, and perhaps most importantly, it had about thirty Novosonian children from a local orphanage, all crowded around one of the few adult-sized chairs in the area. One that, no doubt, was occupied by Wylan Rectur. The Princess of Novoselic and members of the library staff paused near several of the orphanage's dedicated caretakers. When she'd left Wylan in their care, they'd been apprehensive as they hadn't expected a foreign stranger to be reading to the children, especially when they'd expected the Princess herself to regale them with a tale of adventure and to engage them in lively conversation, something that took them out of the place they called home for a little while and gave them a chance to explore and dream, just a little bit: Sonia was good for that. Her life, in the eyes of 30 children aged 5 to 9, was a fairy tale.

What no one had anticipated, least of all Sonia herself, was just how flawlessly Wylan had given them the same opportunity: it looked as they'd caught the very end of the story as the captivated children had no sense of taking turns as they began their line of comments and questions.

"Okay, I don't wanna be on YouTube anymore when I grow up!" One boy wearing a Pokémon t-shirt declared. "I wanna be a pirate! Can you go to school to be a pirate, Mr. Wy?"

Meanwhile, one of the younger girls, with her brown hair in thick double-plaits and clutching a makango stuffed animal in one arm, gently tugged on Wylan's trouser leg. "Mr. Wy, when you read us the next story, you gotta do more voices!" She proclaimed with a smile, showing off one of the gaps in her teeth: a recently lost baby tooth. "Voices for all of the characters, and not just yours. Yours sounds funny though! Not like the teachers."

"Of course he doesn't sound like the teachers, idiot!" Another boy cut in: this one blond and skinny, with an exasperated frown. "He's from America. They talk different!"

"Leo!" The woman in charge of the orphanage reprimanded the young boy immediately. Sonia's amused smile faded a bit at the sharp tone, though the boy in question didn't shrink back in the least. "We do not use that word, how many times must I tell you!"

"But you use it. I heard you last week, you said the present was an idiot!"

"The present?" Sonia smiled, finally announcing her own entrance with a curious question. It was enough to make the children gasp, mollified as the Princess of Novoselic moved forward, giving Wylan a quick, amused smile before kneeling in front of Leo. "What sort of present, Leo?"

"W-well, that's obvious, Princess Sonia," He swallowed, clearly not expecting to be this close to the Princess, much less have her smile at him. He looked away, brown eyes shy as his cheeks turned pink. Clearly, he didn't want to point out how the Princess was, too, an idiot. "The Present! The King of America, where he's from!" He jabbed a finger towards Wylan to prove his point.

Sonia, thanks to years of having to maintain her composure, managed to choke back a laugh. The little boy clearly had confused the words for 'present' and 'president,' and no one was going to contradict him. Not when several other caretakers at the orphanage had directed much of the children's attention to a table in the back, now filled with platters of chocolate biscuits from the Castle, juice boxes, and milk. With solid pieces of milk chocolate pressed into a crumbly cookie, there likely wouldn't be a crumb left once the children were through. Just as well, Sonia smiled, as she was able to navigate the crowd of small readers to reach Wylan's side.

"It's nice to know our citizens aren't entirely impressed with the US President's visit to Novoselic," She murmured with a soft smile, "But in far better news, I see you've made quite a few new friends today. Are you ensuring my country's youngest citizens discover the merits of piracy? Maybe I should've brought eyepatches and plastic hooks instead of stuffed makangos and biscuits to today's reading!" She grinned, both amused and entirely serious. Not enough private donors supported the orphanages so the Royal Family did what they could to support the cause and encourage others to uplift those most in need in their communities. Thus, the upcoming exhibition. "You're so good with them, Mr. Wy, and they love your voices."

Mun questions!! What was the first muse that you’ve written? What is the muse that you write for the longest?

The first muse I written was Chiaki Nanami from Danganronpa. I believe I wrote her for over a year before needing a break from that fandom. The things I could talk about that happened there are just a lot. I do love Chiaki as a character though and she was one that is a comfort for me from that series. Gamer girl and a sweetheart what more can I ask for in a muse ;w; As for the muse I’ve written the longest that is a tie between Kairi from Kingdom Hearts and Jill Valentine from Resident Evil.

A fun fact for those who recently followed or don’t know this blog used to be a single muse one before converting over to multi-muse last year. It was one for just Kairi, and slowly over time I started wanting to write more characters. I did try and handle multi blogs for single muses but it ended up causing me a lot of stress. At the time, I wanted to try and keep up with everything people sent on any of my blogs but it was starting to impact my health negatively. I was just stuck in that mindset that I needed get everything done right away or people would end up leaving. It was starting to become more like a job than a hobby. Which is the last thing I want because I enjoy writing with others.

Kairi and Jill are definitely some of my strongest muses but Kairi has been a bit quiet for a bit due to things I dealt with on her in the past. She’s still there but some days harder to hear her voice. Jill I would say is my strongest muse to date. Her voice comes naturally to me and I enjoy writing threads going more into her character since we know Capcom has done a poor job showing the trauma she went throughout the series. Don’t even get me started on how they diverted to using her re3 remake model for the new movie coming out when they could’ve easily given her a look that made her appear she was after events in Re5. I’m getting off track a bit though…that’s a topic for another day.

Overall, Jill and Kairi are ones I have written the longest for both I would say well over 2 years at this point and I probably won’t even be on here still if not for the support of my friends. You all old and new make it worth being on here and I can’t wait write with you all.
