the other dilemma plaguing me currently: i made a vague decision a while ago not to go to anime boston this year, because i’m gonna go to otakon with my sister in july, but it felt weird to just... not go entirely, so i decided to compromise and get a saturday badge

Skizz Week 2 day 5! This one is short and sweet! Just the hermits being helpful in the silliest ways. As always, thank you to @skizzlemanweek for today's prompt!

Prompt 5: Work / Rest

The first thing he notices is the darkness. His base is completely coated in it, which he finds pretty strange. Usually, he can see moonlight peaking through the various openings to his base, or at least one torch somewhere! Actually, how did he even get in bed? He doesn't remember going to sleep last night. Eh, he's not slept at all lately, so a memory gap isn't the most unimaginable thing.

The second thing he notices is that he's tied to the bed, but not uncomfortably so. He can still shift around and even grab things on the nightstand next to him. Whoever tied him here clearly took great care in doing it, even using softer leads and knots to make sure his skin wouldn't be rubbed red. Heck, there's even a few extra pillows strategically placed so he won't hurt his back or neck! How sweet!

The third thing he notices is that someone is in the room with-

WAIT.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-" He eloquently yells as he sits straight up, now fully awake and aware. And tied to his bed. HE'S TIED TO HIS BED???

In the darkness, three instantly recognizable laughs taunt him. One of them lights a torch, and yep. Just as he suspected. It's Gem, Grian and Scar. His fellow Magic Mountain people have betrayed him!

He scowls at them, which makes them laugh harder.

"Awww, don't look so grumpy! It's not helping with the wrinkles," Gem says with a wink. Little does she know that he's fighting for his life to hold that scowl on his face. Watching his friends laugh makes him want to laugh, okay? Even if they're laughing at him tied up on his own bed.

Grian approaches him, finally getting himself together after having had the laugh of his life. Skizz raises an eyebrow, and Grian only grins. "It's for your best, homie buddeah!"

"Oh yeah, for my best, totally. I'm not buying that for a second, G!" Skizz counters, crossing his arms. He's grateful that he always sleeps with something on, otherwise this would have been way more awkward. For them, not for him!

Gem walks to stand beside Grian. "It is, though! I found you passed out on top of your pyramid yesterday! ON TOP! How- How did you even do that?!"

Oh, so that's what this is about. How much he's been working lately

Well… Erm…. UHMMMMMM… Shit, they kinda have a point.

"I plead the fifth!" He squeaks, knowing he's been cornered. Gem gives him the most unimpressed look. "You're going to stay in this bed for today. No working! We don't want you to get sick again!" She says with an accusatory point.

Now, normally Skizz would fight this. Say that he's got everything under control. But honestly, he is really tired.

"Fineeeeeee. Only because you asked so nicely," he surrenders. They've gone through all the effort to make sure he's comfortable and also they TIED HIM TO HIS BED. Might as well take advantage of it.

"Wait wait wait! We're not done yet!" G interrupts, before he points to Scar. "We're not gonna leave you tied to your bed alone. Scar is gonna stay and make sure you don't try anything."

"Hey! You told me I was gonna get to talk about the Sequal trilogy and that new Outlaws game-!"

"SHHHHH YOU'RE SPOILING IT!"

Skizz rolls his eyes. Of course. He'd been goading Scar into his rant-able topics lately just to piss off Grian.

"You know this is not very good revenge, right? I like listening to Scar talk about what he loves!" He points out. He doesn't like how Grian gets an evil glint in his eyes.

"Well, you keep saying that…So we're gonna put it to the test. We'll leave Scar here with you, and see how long it takes until you break. Your comm is on your nightstand for when you give up."

Now this is something Skizz can get behind! A challenge where he basically does nothing and wins!

"Bring it on, G!" He smugly comments, knowing that he's using the tone that will activate Grians own competitiveness. He sees it work in action as the avian's face hardens.

"You guys are..something special alright," Gem comments with the most deadpan tone.

Grian grabs her shoulder and pushes her towards the exit. "You two have fun! See ya!" is the last he gets out before both he and Gem leave Skizz's base.

Scar and Skizz meet eyes.

"Between you and me, Skizzy, I know they put me here to make sure I didn't try to work, either. They're not very subtle." Scar says with a wink.

A hint of surprise crosses Skizz's face. "Really?" Scar nods in response.

"You don't have to stay here if you don't want to, I can just-"

"Nonsense!" Scar cries out, wheeling himself closer to Skizz's bed. "I wasn't going to get any work done anyway, and now instead of being bored in my base, I get to hang out with Skizzy Wizzy! Now, don't you think it's really stupid that Disney made Kylo Ren and Rey kiss-"

And the conversation goes from there. Back and forth, back and forth. Star Wars to TOOL to Watches to Poker and on and on and on. For any other Hermit, it would probably be a nightmare scenario. But for these two talkative nerds, it's a dream come true.

If this is what constitutes "mandatory rest" on Hermitcraft, Skizz can't help but feel even more grateful that he gets to be in such a wonderful place, with such wonderful people.

I slept like not at all last night so apologies if any of this is like super incoherent, but I do have thoughts!

I'm looking forward to official translations (not that those are even generally better than fan translations but it's an easier reading experience lol). I dislike the pacing of this wrap up, but I like how it's happening. I am a little confused though by what exactly happened so I'll make my final judgement when the chapter comes out.

Am I happy we flashed back to Uraume and Hakari? Yes. Was there a point to it? NO????? Girl I am so confused. Am I illiterate? Maybe. It seems like with whatever is happening there, all of the reincarnated sorcerers are dying because they made binding vows to come and fight Sukuna and now that he's gone, they leave. But that wouldn't have been Uraume's BV anyway because they're a Sukuna simp and were around pre-Culling Games so it doesn't need to be the same trigger. So them like, icing out doesn't make sense. I don't know. God I wish Uraume was a deeper character. I'm gonna have to do some corrective fanfictioning.

Interested to see what happens with Okkotsu. I have a lot of thoughts on the soul and the body and I think that Gege will not leave Okkotsu in Gojo's body with how "everything worked out!" the rest of the ending has been tonally. Which is interesting. I dunno. I feel like the pacing of this is feels so bad to me because the pacing of the previous fight and CG was so slow.

Anyway. I will say, I don't really see huge parallels between itafushi and satosugu. I think they're both pairs of guys in situations, dealing with problems caused by the same institutions. The level of gay in the text is astronomically high for stsg, but *in my opinion*, it's not really there for itafushi. That doesn't mean I don't ship it, but I think people are a little generous when they try to draw comparisons. That said, holy shit Gege has been injecting itafushi material into these last chapters with the precision of a super soaker gun. Good for them.

Here are my thoughts as I move along..

After watching Ep 1, I think:

Danny and his brother where SAed as children, maybe by the stepdad.

Ariana is a sex worker?

His brother either died due to abuse or offed himself because of it.

Ep 2:

Ariana was sexually abused too, I think.

Danny might have Multiple personalities and seems to be unaware about it.

Some charracters might actually be part of his system?

Is the "ghost house" actually his mindspace?

Ep 3:

Yup, multiple personalities!

Yitzhak is definitely one of them!

Jonny probably too & if he is, so must Mike.

Ariana might be aswell, maybe she's his sexual protector & SA trauma holder.

Did he ever have a twin brother, or was he also part of the system?

I love Yitzhak, best protected ever!!

I think Rya, the psychiatrist might suspect him having DiD, but isn't sure yet & the police has no idea.

Last thoughts, after doing some research:

They handled this whole theme so respectfully and good!

Tom also did such an amazing job portraying his roles, it's amazing!!

Especially considering that this series and the movie "Split" where apparently based on the same case.. I fucking hated how DiD was portrayed in Split.. Like it's something to fear. Like it makes people violent. And as something fucking supernatural.. I fucking hated that.. But "The Crowded Room" is so honest and respectful.. It's beautiful!

"How are you liking Gaiden Nate?" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Some caps/summary if anyone wants to know why the end of chapter 2 start of chapter 3 OBLITERATED ME. And why I think Gaiden is shaping up to hit me as hard as Yakuza 0 did. (ALSO THIS WRITING GUYS THIS WRITING IS SO GOOD)

Around the end of Chapter 2 Kiryu returns to Hanawa (who is keeping Tsuruno hostage after Kiryu rescued him from being kidnapped by Tsuruno) and the Daidoji Boss tells Kiryu he has to kill Tsuruno, Shishido, Watase and the other 25 men on the pier to erase all traces of his past again.

Instead, Kiryu takes Hanawa hostage, tells Tsuruno to escape, and turns on the Daidoji. However, after the fight, Hanawa shows Kiryu via a live video that unless he behaves, they'll open fire on Morning Glory.

(THIS IS HARUKA ON THE PHONE, END ME)

Kiryu surrenders. Hanawa calls off and interestingly, says that he really does not want to do this nor does he want to BE doing this.

And you know what I fully believe him here. Why? Because seconds later he's yell-crying, almost hysterical:

Once Kiryu is captive again, the Daidoji have Hanawa execute him. Or so they propose.

This bit is also why I believe Hanawa *to an extent* that he really does not want to be doing this. He WILL because he has very little choice, but I believe him when he's freaking out seconds after Kiryu surrenders. It'll be interesting if this holds true in the finale.

(Send help I'm emotional) I didn't seem to grab a cap of it, but the line Hanawa has before the next one is "Always so quick to sacrifice yourself for others."

Regardless, he's struggling. Hard. What makes it harder on Hanawa is that the other Daidoji have weapons trained on him. If he doesn't shoot Kiryu, they'll shoot him)

Honestly tho I'm really just mostly into Robbie, sorry. I sort of found my favorite boy and stuck with him, so I'm not great with the other ones... BUT BOY CAN I TELL YOU ABOUT ROBBIES COMICS :D

So I'd def recommend Engines of Vengence because it's his first appearance and my favorite art style for Robbie with him. Tradd Moores art is so dynamic and has a lot of really great motion. The fight scenes read incredibly well.

Legend is a great continuation of the story, but I gotta tell you for issues 6-10 I'm really not a big fan of the art style. It's not enough to ruin the experience for me but.. eh. In 11-12, Felipe Smith steps in and holy shit. Tradd Moore is my favorite for Robbie, but Felipe might just be my favorite for Ghost Rider. He looks legitimately vicious in every panel. it's absolutely fantastic.

Four on the floor is a super fun crossover comic with Brawn (Amadaus Cho), Wolverine (Laura Kinney), Silk (Cindy Moon), Phil Couleson and agent May. Also the art is another great highlight and the reason for the 'might be' in naming Felipe Smith as my favorite ghost rider artist because HOLY SHIT DANILO BEYRUTH WENT FUCKING HAM LOOK AT THIS???

This goes UNBELIEVABLY hard. THE POSES IN THIS MAKE HIM LOOK SO FUCKING FERAL ITS SO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I haven't read it but I've heard good things about Ghost Racers. It's got a shit ton of ghost rider variants tho it seems kickass.

I WAS ABLE TO WATCH PRIME SEASON 3 EPISODE 2 AND I AM SCREAMING!!!!!

So, I gotta talk about the Grim Birdies first. They are really cool and super powerful! Like they are just epic. Their screams are haunting, but i wish they had more than two. It gets a little annoying to have to listen to the same two sound effects over and over again. But I really like the main one who got her face crushed. I kept looking at her in the trailers and seeing that little 'scar' she has and wondering how she got it, and now I know! Yay!

Next, OH MY GOODNESS THEY WASTED NO TIME GETTING EVERYONE TO TEAM UP. I wish they spend a little more time on everyone's reaction to each other, rather than just having the two Bigs look at each other, but it's fine. THE ROSE TRIPLETS HAVE UNITED AND I LOVE IT. I noticed how when they were all saying what they were gonna do when this is over, Thorn said jungle, Black said adventuring, but Rusty didn't say anything, which I hope means she's gonna go back to No Place. Whatever happens to her, I'm putting her in No Place for With Great Power Comes because I can't bring myself to separate Rusty from Black. They're too perfect. :)

Let's see, uhhhhhhh oh yeah! So, Nine being a giant floating head is kinda silly. Like yeah, it makes total sense, but just not being able to see what the rest of his body is doing leads to some awkward bits. I kinda wish they just didn't make him able to do this? I was imagining Nine only getting info from his bots and like, making it so we don't see him as much can help build some suspense for the finale, you know? Not showing your villain can do WONDERS for the story and the fear factor. Take Sauron from lotr for example. We barely see him throughout the trilogy, but we FEEL his presence in every single movie. If he was shown more, his fear factor would decrease. He would become less impressive. So, yeah, I don't think Nine should be a floating head, but that's just me. I hope he won't feel the need to pop up constantly in the coming episodes.

And of course, CAN WE TALK ABOUT SONIC??????? So, it looks like one of my original predictions was semi right in a way. Sonic's going to be losing his energy gradually over the course of the season. GOODNESS JUST. THE WAY HE STUMBLED OUT OF THE ROOM. BOY YOU ARE NOT OKAY. YOU BETTER NOT JUMP RIGHT BACK INTO THE ACTION NEXT EPISODE. SIT DOWN. TAKE A NAP. IT'S NOT GOING TO FIX THINGS BUT IT MIGHT HELP A LITTLE BIT.

Oh yeah! And also MANGEY IS THE CUTEST LITTLE BOY EVER. During that one scene where they were talking about Nine I think he was slinking out of the room because he felt bad for being connected to Nine and I was like aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT LO AND BEHOLD, HE'S ALSO STILL A GENIUS EVEN THOUGH HE'S A FERAL BOY AND I LOVE THAT SO MUCH. Mangey also seems to be sticking close to Sonic and I love that. He's filling in for Tails. :( aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Also, where is Shadow?????????????????? We're seriously not checking back in on him????? aaaaaaaaaaaaaa Boy really is doing that one Undertale AU down there. (says the girl who has no knowledge of Undertale besides the comics for said AU)

And to end it off, whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy did you leave the rest of the Kraken crew in No Place???????? Did you think you'd be coming back?????????????? There's no way you thought that, the entire world is falling apart. Come on guys, we're in the final showdown, the time for dumb mistakes is over.

Let's see . . . I think that's all my thoughts. Still not big on the council, but I don't think anyone is. (I kid you not, I was begging Grim Birdy to tear Babble's mech open and kidnap him so we don't have to listen to him for a few episodes. Alas. Not so.)
