50 Things to Know about the Disney-verse

1. Ursula and Maleficent are rivals so Uma and Mal being rivals also tracks.

2. The Evil Queen and Maleficent are rivals for Hades' affections and for the status of "The Evilest of Them All'.

3. The Evil Queen claims not to be Hades' girlfriend, but they just had "an interesting weekend" on Castaway Cay. And therefore, I headcanon that she is Hadie’s mom. Probably conceived sometime around Evie’s banishment.

4. In the Disney Villains: Top Secret Files, Maleficent is featured in her own section. According to the pieces of information provided, Maleficent's last name is Faery.

5. She was actually invited to Aurora's birth ceremony and that the invitation simply never got to her castle because she burnt the postman to death (believing him to be a trespasser) before he could deliver it.

6. Her dragon form also appeared in The Little Mermaid series episode "Heroes" as a sea dragon.

7. Captain Hook tried to charm her, only to be zapped away leaving behind his hook. Jafar also tried to woo her while they sat together, only to end up being literally burnt.

8. It was revealed in "A Christmas Cruella" that she did want a puppy before becoming her villainous self.

9. Cruella has a brother named Cecil and a niece named Ivy. However, Cecil is not Ivy's father, meaning that Cruella and Cecil must have another sibling (most likely a brother) who is Ivy's parent.

10. In 102 Dalmatians: Puppies to the Rescue, Cruella has set up a toy factory next to DeVil Manor. She seems to have tried online dating, where she has supposedly wed herself to Professor Farzboom, a meek professor who helps her make her toys. So there’s Carlos’ dad.

11. In "Max's Embarrassing Date", she went on a date with the Beast and asked if he came in a medium, which the Beast became annoyed of. After the Beast gets soaked with soup he was eating, Cruella is unhappy as she would have to get him dry-cleaned.

12. Walt Disney's early vision for The Rescuers revolved around the kidnapping of a polar bear from a city zoo; writers considered reusing Cruella as the main antagonist (presumably driven by her desire for the bear's fur).

13. The concept art of the film shows Cruella wearing an outfit made out of crocodile leather. Because The Rescuers was set more than a decade after 101 Dalmatians, Cruella was given a period-appropriate update. Aside from her '70s alligator-chic outfit, Cruella is accessorized with Sly and the Family Stone-style sunglasses. In other sketches, De Vil is depicted in bell-bottom pants and a pair of platforms. Other concept art showed Cruella driving a water vehicle similar to the one Medusa uses in the final film.

14. The Prince is usually known as Prince Charming, though some source material shows that his name is Henri, or Henry. However, he was never referred to by name anywhere in the film. Not even mentioned as "Prince Charming".

15. The story takes place roughly in June. In the movie, the sun rises slightly before 6:00 AM (in France), as it would within a few weeks of the summer solstice. Also, by this time, a pumpkin would have grown to 20–40 pounds.

16. The debate of the setting of Cinderella has always been a problem, but most people can agree it is French; however, there is a small amount of people who think it is Spanish because the female names end in "A" but that does not really cut it so deeper research shows that the thing on Anastasia's head is a peineta or headdress used in Spain along with formal attire also the French furnishings and the Spanish furnishings within the same time period are very similar in style.

17. Cinderella is the “oldest” princess in the official franchise being 19 while Snow White is the youngest being 14. Also, Snow White’s prince was suppose to be 18 according to Disney’s records.

18. In the third movie, Cinderella’s shoe size is mentioned to be a size 4½ in women's. According to Disney's Villains' Revenge, Snow White has smaller feet than Cinderella.

19. Cinderella was actually rich at the beginning, even before she married the prince. This was exempted, however, as she was forced to work as a servant.

20. In some stories, Cinderella's real name was Ella (short for Eleanor), and because she would always lie in cinders, her stepfamily would call her CinderElla. However, in the Disney film, "Cinderella" is truly her name by birth.

21. Cinderella's last name would likely have been Tremaine since her stepmother's name was Lady Tremaine unless Lady Tremaine kept her maiden name.

22. According to Disneystrology, Cinderella’s birthday is September 6.

28. An early story concept for the original film had the Sultan saying, "Jasmine, the law says you must be married by your sixteenth birthday.", which would have made her fifteen years old. This concept was scrapped when Jeffrey Katzenberg became worried about sending the wrong message regarding the idea that fifteen year old girls can get married. Thus, the line was changed to "married to a prince by your next birthday.", leaving Jasmine's canonical age unknown.

29. One of the Disney Princess magazines has a story about two of Jasmine's cousins named Farah and Nadine. Whether they are considered canon is unknown.

30. Although the exact date is not clear, Jasmine's birthday is in late January or early February. This is because when Aladdin and Jasmine fly on the magic carpet, Chinese New Year is being celebrated over in China. This holiday can fall anywhere from January 21 to February 20.

The trailer implies that Gaston may have been aware of the Beast's curse, and had ulterior motives besides wanting Belle as his wife for attempting to kill the Beast, as the trailer described him as being "one man who wants to keep the spell alive," although it is unconfirmed whether this was the case in the film itself.

Despite various concept materials, as listed above, give Gaston the surname of LeGume, the Bimbettes during the song of "Belle" refer to Gaston as "Monsieur Gaston" and Belle in the reprise twice sarcastically refers to herself as "Madame Gaston" suggesting that Gaston is his surname in the final version.

36. The Bimbettes (individual names Claudette, Laurette, and Paulette) are blonde identical triplets who fawn over Gaston. They are inspired by Belle's sisters from the original Beauty and the Beast fairy tale.

41. Even though he is referred to as a prince in the opening, none of the characters directly refer to him by that title. In addition, the first draft for Woolverton's take of the film indicated that the Beast was intended to be a duke instead of a prince.

42. According to the first stained-glass window featured in the film's opening sequence, Adam’s family motto is "vincit qui se vincit" (meaning "The winner is who wins himself").

42. Though the Beast's official age is not mentioned in the movie, it is strongly indicated by the narrator's statement that the rose "would bloom until his 21st year." As the rose has already begun to wilt by the time Belle arrives at the castle, it is very likely that the Beast is 20 years (i.e. on their 21st year) of age by this point.

43. In authorized supplementary comics, most notably The New Adventures of Beauty and the Beast, the Prince is never shown as being older than a preteen when he's shown as a human; moreover, the palace staff all refer to his pre-curse self as "a young boy" or "child". Two individual comics show that the Prince was originally a few years older than Chip, who didn't age during the curse, and shows him as being a couple of years older than Belle herself. The comics also show that the Prince has had a few run-ins with the disguised Enchantress, meaning that he'd still be a preteen when he was cursed.

44. Despite her slim figure, Belle seems to have considerable strength. She may have lifted the Beast, as evidenced by the Beast being placed onto Philippe's back, although this was never shown on-screen. Later on, she was able to pull the Beast up onto a balcony.

46. In the beginning of the original 1989 storyline, found on the Diamond Edition DVD, Belle's birthday is celebrated, and the cake reads "Happy 17th Birthday Belle", providing evidence that she is 17 in the movie, or at least that she was originally planned to be 17.

47. Contrary to popular belief, it's not made clear whether Belle was actually born a peasant, as she implies that she wasn't born in her home village in the opening song, but rather moved there. 3. Which WIP do you expect will end up the longest? The Last Five Years || The Next Five Years - it's designed as a duology, so idk if each individual fic will beat out angstapalooza, but the duo definitely will, and y'all will want to read them together (unless you love pain I guess??)

4. Which WIP is your favourite to write/the most enjoyable to write? Why? It changes day to day but right now I have @clottedcreamfudge going fucking feral at me over [Hockey bf Henry] at any given hour of the day which definitely makes it really fun to just... write a snippet and immediately be shrieked at.

5. Which WIP do you find the most intimidating to write? Why? For some unknown reason, Years of dreams just can't be wrong which is the Anastasia AU?? I don't know why it's fucking with me so much, but it's very rude actually.

6. Which WIP do you experience the most self-doubt about. Why? The way we get into each other's bones [Angstapalooza RWRB Edition] -- it's gonna be a balancing act in terms of not being gratuitous emotional pain etc

7. Which of your WIPs will you seek out a beta/sensitivity reader for? Why? The long ones: The way we get into each other's bones [Angstapalooza RWRB Edition], The Last Five Years || The Next Five Years, [Leverage AU]. Maybe a few of the others depending on how the plot spins out.

14. Which WIP have you worked the hardest on? The way we get into each other's bones [Angstapalooza RWRB Edition], though Years of dreams just can't be wrong has given it a surprising run for its money.

15. Which WIP do you have the highest expectations for? Why? The way we get into each other's bones [Angstapalooza RWRB Edition] -- I wrote a fic lovingly deemed angstapalooza for another fandom and people collectively lost their shit over it, so... idk I guess y'all love pain???

16. Do you dream about any of your WIPs? Yes. And then I wake up and can't remember enough to write it down and then I cry.

17. Do any of your WIPs have particular complexities that your other fics don't? Oh for sure! The Last Five Years || The Next Five Years has the non-chronological chapter order baked into the format, so making sure the chronology is right and that readers can follow where we're at is a complexity. [horny soulmates] has one of those worldbuilding things where the less thought you put into it as a reader the better because otherwise it's a Problem so trying to make sure it makes sense without being horrifying if you think about the real world implications is a balance lmao. What's left of me in our little vignette has some time-related fuckery. [Orpheus and Eurydice] is written in verse, so. You know.

18. Which WIP is the funniest or has the most humour? In terms of what's actually written right now, probably Hold up, rewind, knock me off of my feet? But I like to think they're all funny lol.

19. Do any of your WIPs contain outside POVs or a deep dive on a character other than the main ship? How are you finding that process? [Henry/Alex/Liam/Spencer] runs through all four listed POVs which is fun and also requires a lot of pondering about whose POV we have when for maximum impact. [Rafael prequel], Rafael is surrounded by disaster queers [Actor AU verse], Secret Agent Raf 5+1 [Actor AU verse] are all Rafael POV, but the latter two are actor AU verse so I have a bit more leeway -- the first one is is canon compliant, though, so teasing out the little info we get about him and building the timeline is a beast of a job. [Shaan/Zahra] is fully epistolary so doesn't technically have a POV I guess.

20. Tell us one thing we don't know about one or more of your WIPs. The way we get into each other's bones [Angstapalooza RWRB Edition] is a prologue + 10 chapters and all those chapters are titled already lol, because I've never approached something in a normal order in my life.

Who do you think are the best parents on the Isle-the parents who both A. care about their children, and B. actively care for them?

This is a super late answer! I want to post more but have been overthinking it so this has been sitting in my notes for quite some time!

We don’t know for certain about some villains depending on a few personality traits. I’ll go through my villain list (it’s quite lengthy) and analyse it. But that’s for later.

Below is from the top of my head. Without further ado:

Anastasia Tremaine- she definitely cares about her kids and her niblings (aka nephews and nieces). Yes, her redemption in Cinderella II is canon in mine. Like my account name says. I love the extended media (and try and have em fit. With tweaks and changes sometimes!)

Facilier seems to be a good dad from what we saw in the 3rd descendants movie! May differ in the school of secret books which I haven’t read yet.

Mozenrath. His being on this would surprise people (namely Al, Jaz and the gang. Some of the other isle people as well) He had an awful, evil tyrant (who even Jafar steered clear of, according to Iago) adopted father named Destane so he knows what it’s like to be mistreated.  Yes, Mo’s a villain kid too like Ana! He’d try to avoid it with his kid(s) and probably subconsciously feels bad for the  isle kids. He’d be a ‘my child can do no wrong’  and a ride-or-die parent.  He was quite negligent about his own health but has the knowledge to do better for his own kid(s).

He’s from the Aladdin tv show and is sassy, witty and a booksmart sorcerer villain who lacks common sense in his elaborate plans. Oh and he has a flying eel familiar, Xerxes (who is the best, loyal and deserves everything) The show itself is so cool, underrated and thorough! (Fun fact: the Aladdin franchise has a lot of lore!) In mine, he accidentally adopts a baby off the isle’s streets. There’s more to his tale of course, but more later. And I do plan on writing a book in the descendants verse bout it.

Sadira. (she’s also from the Aladdin tv show!) She grew up on the street of Agrabah and fell for the first kindness anyone showed her. Poor gal knows what it’s like to be wronged (the guards are so mean to the ‘street rats’ aka poor people) and she wanted love. She’d be a great mum and very hands-on! She knows what it takes to survive and can read so she may have educated herself on the nuances on taking care of others!

The Wicked Prince (Evil Queen’s brother, from the Snow White comics), Nasira (Jafar’s twin sister from an Aladdin game), and Lady Waltham (Clayton’s sister. From the Tarzan tv show) had a family-oriented streak in wanting to avenge their fallen sibling.

But it depends on what it stems from as a dead sibling is quite drastic. Would it translate into them being good parents? Who’s to say? I think Lady Waltham might be. Morgana (Ursula’s sister who appeared in ‘The little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea’)

Cecil De Vil (from 101 Dalmatians: The Series) is the most responsible De Vil adult  (though that’s not saying much sometimes). He becomes a responsible caretaker for the De Vil clan kids because Cruella and PH wouldn’t and Ivy’s parents and Hunter’s parents aren’t in the picture.

The redeemed villains (they’re wrongfully on the isle in mine. poor them but angsttttt) are generally great parents (or at least they try. Le Fou may be average but it depends! I don’t think he’s over being Gaston’s lackey and so may be less active with his kid)

Gematria & The Nine Houses

WARNING: THIS IS EXTREMELY DUMB AND TINFOIL HAT-ISH.

There was a fantastic and thorough Reddit thread on this a while back that discussed the possibility that there are alphanumeric codes used throughout TLT series. Now that we’re all aware of the John chapters, and their chapter/verse values lining up to a secret messages, I wanted to re-explore some of the unexplained mysteries of the books.

WARNING: You will go mad, Aronofsky’s Pi-style, if you start plugging letters and names into calculators, so proceed with caution.

FIRST: Gematria is “the practice of assigning a numerical value to a name, word or phrase according to an alphanumerical cipher.” It’s commonly connected to Kabbalah and ancient Hebrew. Words have numeric values, and you can unlock certain hidden meanings in those values.

SO: this means that the letters indicating certain peoples names may have certain codes or values. Especially if we consider the notion that we aren’t dealing with a Roman alphabet. If Nona can understand every language, could we be seeing letters that really are meant to be symbols? For example, in Hebrew, the 3rd letter is G, like Gideon/G is the third Saint. The Shape of a Gimel is thought to represent a spear-carrier, like Gideon/G carries a spear. This doesn’t really carry to everyone’s name, at least not clearly. But certain things do make you wonder (like how the Hebrew letter Shin looks a lot like a W - or the constellation Cassiopeia) Unfortunately, this lead me to a discovery that made me groan.

There is a letter in the Hebrew alphabet that is named “Nun” and its numerical value is 50. I’m not saying Mercymorn had fifty people. But if someone put “500 into 50” they might be saying “The 500 into Nun” (Anastasia).

This all seems totally batty, and it is. Which is why the Sixth House Study, and the revelation made me think of THIS

sarah  rogers  was  born  two  years  before  natalia  romanova  would  expose  HYDRA , and  bring  an  end  to  the  secret  organization , along  with  SHIELD , which  was  where  she  had  been  created.  HYDRA  used  the  dna  of  both  steve  rogers , and  james  barnes  in  hopes  of  making  the  next  super  soldier  that  would  continue  in  their  mission.  steve  and  bucky  found  out  about  her  existence , and  made  the  decision  to  take  her  and  raise  her  on  their  own.

both  steve  and  bucky  agreed  that  they  wanted  to  keep  her  as  far  away  from  anything  connected  to  the  world  she  had  come  from , they  moved  the  three  of  them  to  the  west  coast , buying  a  farm  in  oregon.  it  was  a  close  enough  drive  to  the  city  that  they  weren't  completely  cut  off , but  tucked  away  to  offer  safety.

On a tranquil spring morning, when the world was bathed in the gentle embrace of a new season, a baby girl was born. As she took her first breath, the garden surrounding her home burst into vibrant colors, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of blossoms. It was as if nature itself celebrated her arrival. This radiant child is named Miciela Grace Zhu.

She was not born alone; her twin, Mikaelo George Zhu, was born beforehand. The birth of the twins delighted their parents. They knew from the moment they laid eyes on their newborns that Mikaelo and Miciela were special and that they shared a unique bond beyond being siblings. They were two halves of a beautiful whole, like two verses of a song that echoed in perfect harmony.

As the twins grew, their connection deepened. Mikaelo and Miciela had a way of completing each other's thoughts and sentences, as if they shared a secret language only they understood. They were like two pieces of a puzzle that fit together perfectly, each enhancing the other's strengths.

Despite the fact that they lived together and were never apart from a baby until high school, after graduating from high school, they decided to follow their own goals and major in different subjects, even though they were attending the same university. Along with her studies, Miciela attended a florist class.

Miciela's love for flowers began as a child, when she used to accompany her mother, Anastasia, to the house garden. Her mother was a skilled florist and had a magical way with plants. She taught Miciela the secrets of each flower, from their names to their unique personalities.

As the years passed, Miciela's talent blossomed. She had a special gift for communicating with flowers, and they seemed to respond to her touch and care. She could make wilted flowers bloom again with a few soft-spoken words and tender care. She honed her skills in the art of floristry. She realized her dream of opening her own flower shop, "Blossom Haven." The shop was a sanctuary of natural beauty, where Miciela could share her love for flowers with the world.

Danielle is NOT Anastasia's Clone

I have a drabble about this that will end up on AO3 at some point, but here's the concept. 

Anastasia al Gul is an actual DC character that is Damian's twin sister and who doesn't exist in most universes. Danyl was the true name of Damian's twin, a secret just between the two of them. Damian meets Dani and almost goes nuclear at the thought of Ra's cloning his dead twin. Elle is insulted because her dad is way cooler than Robin's twin sister could have ever been. 

In this verse Danny was a full ghost haunting Amity Park who happened to befriend 3 teenage outcasts. One of them being the daughter of the town kooks who was willing to take the others on a brief tour of her parents lab. The portal resurrects Danny as a half ghost and the future Team Phantom gaslights, gatekeeps, girl bosses the entire town, including Jack and Maddie, into believing the Fentons have always had a son. Since a ghost's appearence is strongly dependent on self image, Danny gets to be a guy without worrying about hormones or surgery and it somehow sticks when he gets his human form. However, he is still genetically female hence Elle being a girl. 

I like to think Damian and Elle meeting is due to her coming to Gotham to give Aunt Jazz's new boyfriend, Jay something, a shovel talk. There is much yelling, some brief rational talk courtesy of Jazz, a DNA test, louder yelling and much confusion. Danny arrives in the Batcave to find himself face to face with his twin brother for the first time in almost a decade only to find Damian is shorter than his clone-daughter. 

As it turns out Danny was worse at keeping track of time in the Zone than he thought and is now almost 5 years older than his twin.

The more I learn about Damians family the more bewildered and impressed I become. How many ladies are in this family?! Like canonically? Its starting to sound like Ras has a small army of Amazon-ish warriors and wanted a male heir due to sheer sexism.

How would Ras take this anyway? Would he be transphobic and keep referring to him by his dead name or would he consider it a "blessing from Lazarus" or whatever?

I'm on the blessing side because I might know nothing about transition surgery but it sounds like it would be expensive.

26.) I’m gonna be honest— i work in the cosmetics dept at 🎯, so a lot of the make up I have and use is from there! (Trade not-so-secret: we get free skincare, hair care, & cosmetics samples in order to more fully test product, which is fun!) I used to do my make up a lot for work both there and for the dance studio, but I can’t say there’s one particular brand I like more than any other? I love all my NYX lip products and my Anastasia Beverly Hills eye shadows though, I WILL die on those hills.

39.) uhhhh that’s a really good question!! I listen to music mostly based on, well, the music first, lyrics second. (And I’m guilty of listening to the same 5 songs on repeat 😬) but one of my favorite songs is Blue ridge mountains by Fleet Foxes—

And the first (only?) verse of the song is just— I LOVE how this sounds:

The lines I highlighted in blue, for whatever reason, make me think of changelings; of being stolen away with no one the wiser, but this time with the express intent to escape and find some peace, maybe at the detriment of those around him but oh, doesn’t he deserve to be selfish?
