Hey Metalo- the It runs series is currently 470,893 words all together; when you started writing the story, did you expect for it to become this long? Was the plot fully thought out in your head, or did it change and expand considerably? And how did the idea even come to you??!!?
Oh, not by far! I thought It run would have around 100K words, at best!
My problem is that I never outline. I always know the beginning, the end, and some major plot points to connect the two, but that's it.
It runs became so huge, because, as I wrote, I started falling in love with the characters. Or just found myself needing to flesh them out. So, in my head, I knew Marlene exists and she'll be with Sirius and Bella would kill her, I knew that from the get go- but, as I started writing, from chapter to chapter, I liked Marlene more and more, and then I thought- wait, Sirius needs to be very close to her (and so does the reader) for her death to mean something. And there you go- 50k just on Marlene! And same goes for Peter, Rabastan, Rodolphus etc.
Other plot points evolved naturally, and then I had to shift my initial ideas to incorporate them. For example, I really thought Sirius choosing to abandon the Order would go differently- I had another vague plan in mind, which I kept until literally two chapter before I decided on a different path.
And most of Voldemort/Sirius scenes come to me when I sit down to write a chapter- almost none were planned beforehand. I just get an idea and think 'oh, this would be fun for Sirius and Voldemort' and then I go to write it, but some need set up, so I build a set up, and there you go, another 20k out of nowhere.
The werewolf wedding almost didn't happen. The chapter was ready to publish, when I was speaking with a friend about werewolves in HP, and a possible Greyback/Voldemort, and then I thought- you know what, It runs could have some werewolves in it, it would make the world feel more real. Hmm, how to incorporate them? Oh, what if Voldemort drags Sirius to a pack event and Sirius shifts into Padfoot? That would be funny. So then I wrote it, found ways to incorporate it, and that was that. (It was pretty much the same with the vampires. Last minute decisions). Only both these scenes then spiralled into other scenes, and so forth.
As for how the idea for It runs even came to me- Sirius was always my favourite character, but I gave up on him in fandom. He's still my favourite though, along with the Black family. So I really wanted to write him and explore his relationship with family, but then I didn't know who to pair him with. Remus is out of the question for me, James would make it completely AU (and I do like a general air of canon compliance) so I really didn't know who would fit with him. Why not Voldemort, I thought, my other favourite character, who I was already comfortable writing? And then I wrote the sex scene, just to try it out, see if they have chemistry. And oh, they did! (The sex scene in Norway was the first ever scene I wrote for It runs). After that, I started thinking about a general plot, and that was that. (Fun fact, it took me like 300k words to reach the sex scene in Norway, once I started writing the story😂)
Anyway, I didn't mean for this answer to be so long- you see my problem and tendency to say too much? That explains my novel length chapters.

Bellatrix Lestrange having a daughter around Tonks/Charlie’s age who is like a younger, more unhinged but still somewhat replicated version of her this is very, very inspired by Jenifer Check, I love her sm so when you think of Lestrange!Daught it’s pretty much Chrck lmao which she thought she’d absolutely love except her kid won’t do anything she asks for her and absolutely will not serve the Dark Lord cause she worships the ground the Reader walks on, whatever they want and whenever they want it, she’ll do anything for them
Narcissa can’t help cause she doesn’t have a daughter for plots sake we’ll say Cygnus raised her alone meaning the kid had mad freedom, old man just wanted to chill after losing 2 of 3 daughters over politics so Bellatrix goes to Andromeda
and for a solid five minutes all Andromeda can do is laugh because her older sister is coming to her for vague parenting advise
inevitably Andromeda connects the dots and then starts laughing again pointing out the hilarious parallel about Bellatrix being obsessed with Voldemort and now her daughter being obsessed with her own morally questionable criminal or better yet the Reader isn’t a criminal but gets up to sketchy shit sometimes and doesn’t understand why this pretty, violent girl is following them around but goes with it anyways
worst part is that after Rodolphus and Rabastan died which I assume they did in Azkaban then Lestrange!Daughter would’ve inherited the vault, cutting off the death eaters funding and access to the Hufflepuff’s Cup hidden inside, because she’s not gonna betray her darling for some nose-less fuck
Are we talking like an OC?? Cause I actually really love that idea. Especially, regarding Harry’s twin!Reader or something like that, just the parallels between the two only Belatrix’s daughter is on the literal complete opposite side. But in the circumstances it would be Harry and twin!Reader with this older girl staliking following them around, especially outside of Hogwarts. Like, she just hangs out outside of 4 Privet Drive just watching, even breaking in and just wanting to be close to the Reader. You can bet Bellatrix’s daughter would give the Dursley’s a piece of her mind. Or maybe even just take Harry and the Reader to live with her.
I just imagine the Reader waking up in a completely new place all by themself with this older girl hovering over them. And the Reader being kind of okay with it since they’re away from the Dursley’s but they ask their captor/“savior” to go back and get their brother too.
The Lestrange house/manor/estate would probably become the new Order of the Phoenix headqaurters, mainly because Bellatrix’s daughter won’t part with the Reader so they can’t go with Harry to live with Sirius so Sirius moves in to keep an eye on everything. And his reaction to his batshit crazy cousin’s batshit child being obsessed with one of his godchildren would really be something. Like, FUCK NO!?!?!
Like, I could imagine Bellatrix’s daughter having been obsessed with the Potter twins since it came out that they were able to survive and best Voldemort even when being just mere babes. And just her like revolving her world around getting to meet them or something. Maybe when Bellatrix’s daughter was younger but still older than Harry and the Reader she ended up wandering to 4 Privet Drive or having her house elf take her to meet them or something and she did, even if it was for a few minutes.
When it comes to the idea of Bellatrix’s daughter being obsessed with a criminal or a bad witch/wizard, I could just imagine Potter!Twin!Reader having nicked something small or lied about something insignificant and from then on Bellatrix’s daughter was like “That’s the one for me”.
Also, just the idea of Bellatrix’s daughter having stalked Harry and his Twin!Reader for most of their life. Like, I could see them getting Cygnus or their house elf to take them to 4 Privet Drive and she would just watch the whole place like a hawk. Never taking her eyes off of it and getting excited at the smallest bit of movement or liveliness at the home. Or even having the house elf sneak her into Harry and the Reader’s school to pass herself off as one of the students and getting to befriend the Reader even just for a brief time. But afterwards, Bellatrix’s daughter would use that as her excuse to interact with the Dursley’s. She’d happily knock on their door asking the Reader to play with her, that she was their friend from school as to not draw any suspicion. Hell, Bellatrix’s daughter would go as far as getting one of the houses on Privet Drive just to stay close and ending up living there the rest of the time the twins are across the street/down the road.

Potions Master Edition: Slughorn/Snape. Was prodigiously talented Severus a Slug Club favourite, rewriting the textbook in the corner of their get-togethers? Or not, due to him being poorly connected, poorly socialised and well, poor? If not, there’s some delicious resentment baked in there. But Sluggy manages to get Sev to willingly attend a Christmas party! Add a splash of Lily to the cauldron for some extra toxicity.
thank you very much for the ask, anon!
i don't ever imagine that snape was in the slug club. and partially this is for exactly the reasons you describe - slughorn obviously likes those with pretty faces and pretty manners, which snape doesn't have - but it's also because the teenage snape has no interest whatsoever in playing the game when it comes to how class functions in the wizarding world.
slughorn is evidently keen on taking on passion projects from among the group of hogwarts students who are at a disadvantage in a society which assigns such weight to name and lineage - especially if they're male, since it appears both that the trend in the wizarding world is generally for married women not to work and that it is more acceptable for a man to marry a non-pureblood woman and pass down his name than it is for a woman to marry a non-pureblood man. as we know from half-blood prince, he delights in finding little protegés he can use his connections to set up in ministry internships and then manipulate for the rest of their lives on the basis of their dependence on his patronage.
[i.e. dirk cresswell, muggleborn head of the goblin liaison office.]
we see this at play in canon in slughorn's treatment of tom riddle. but, while the teenage voldemort rejects the jobs slughorn tries to arrange for him, he does play the game while at school, simpering politely through slug club meetings and sending slughorn box after box of [presumably stolen] pineapple.
the teen snape has no such interest in doing this. while the teenage riddle we meet in chamber of secrets and half-blood prince has sanded off many of his rougher edges [the eleven-year-old riddle, for example, is written in a way which suggests he has an accent and uses words and expressions which would be understood as working class; the sixteen-year-old version does not], the snape we meet in snape's worst memory is still visibly working-class in his speech and mannerisms, and i can easily imagine this being a source of pride for him [a sort of "fuck these posh cunts who think they're better than me" vibe] while at school, especially in the way it would impact his relationship with james and sirius.
[and also the way that it would impact his relationship with lily, who does play the game. i think you can do something really interesting with snape thinking that going to the slug club, losing her accent, taking james' pureblood name etc. is her "selling out" - never realising that lily both may want to do these things, but also has to, since they're the only way she's going to survive as a muggleborn in the wizarding world.]
slughorn's going to view him as a lost cause.
but could the adult snape and the adult slughorn get together? maybe.
as you say, snape's going to harbour a huge amount of resentment against slughorn, not only for ignoring his genius when he was at school but also for doing literally nothing to prevent his radicalisation. it is impossible to imagine that people like lucius malfoy, rodolphus and rabastan lestrange, barty crouch jr., evan rosier etc. weren't slughorn's favourites - and, of course, we know regulus black was - and slughorn must have had a very good idea why they were taking an interest in someone like snape, he was just too afraid of voldemort [and of admitting to dumbledore that he'd told voldemort about horcruxes] to do anything about it.
but it's also the case that snape must be aware that slughorn has been brought back to hogwarts during half-blood prince so that he too can be a pawn in dumbledore's schemes. i think you could do something deliciously toxic with snape finding himself drawn to slughorn because of a shared sense that they're both being fucked over by dumbledore - and i think this could lead into some excellent hurt/comfort during the year in which snape's headmaster when slughorn, who must remember snape's affection for lily, begins to suspect that all is not what it seems...
but there's another potential snape/slughorn dynamic i think it's worth discussing, which comes with a trigger warning for the topic of the sexual abuse of a student by a teacher and which is under the cut.
in the films, slughorn is played as avuncular and broadly sexless - with the result that his wheeling and dealing comes across as grasping and a bit pitiable, but generally harmless.
the slughorn of the books, in contrast, is straightforwardly creepy.
he is involved in his students' private lives to an extent we see from no other teacher [his interest in harry's relationship with ginny, for example]. he socialises with students in private in ways which are abnormal within the hogwarts context - it's clearly acceptable for students to be alone in teachers' private offices for detention, but much less so for them to be called in for a glass of wine or to offer their teachers presents... he is happy to let his favourites bend the rules, but also to let them know he's doing so [lestrange and avery have clearly been allowed to be quite late with their essays - and to attend a slug club party while they're still outstanding - before slughorn finally puts his foot down]. the way his habit of "collecting" students - and the life-long influence he then goes on to assert over them - is described makes it sound exceptionally sinister, particularly since the text emphasises that many of his favourite students are also very good-looking. and he is famously willing to receive gifts in exchange for... favours.
and it is very striking that slughorn's two favourite pupils - voldemort and lily - have relationships with slughorn which differ in terms of their power dynamics than, for example, slughorn's relationship with someone like harry.
with harry - as, we can assume, with the children of rich, socially prominent, and politically influential families - slughorn is looking to bask in their reflected glow, and receive social cachet for being connected to them ["i can introduce you to harry potter", "well, of course, i know damocles belby terribly well", and so on].
with pupils who lack this social prominence, he is seeking to mould them into creatures who will do his bidding and rely on him for support [voldemort will be minister for magic in a decade "if you keep sending me pineapple"]. these pupils are made dependent on slughorn for their post-hogwarts position in the wizarding world, they are clearly expected to be grateful to him, and they are clearly expected to do things to butter him up which their posher peers are not.
they also lack the social power to risk rejecting him - i think it's very striking in half-blood prince that harry, ron, and ginny find the idea of hermione trapped in slug club meetings funny, without considering that, as a muggleborn woman, hermione needs the connections someone like slughorn can provide her even if she doesn't enjoy what she has to go through in order to make them. the same would be true for lily - at least until she married - and it would be doubly true for voldemort, who is not only presumed to be muggleborn by most people he encounters, but who lacks any sort of family support in the muggle world too.
[and voldemort refusing slughorn's job offers in his seventh year absolutely tanks their relationship - in a way which the horcrux conversation, which takes place when voldemort's in sixth year, does not. i think this is really worth thinking about both when unravelling why slughorn never becomes a death eater and when thinking about why voldemort is at borgin and burkes for a decade and has no political success until he has divorced himself from his old name and old appearance...]
snape - poor, saddled with his muggle father's name, friendless, under the radar of the rest of his teachers [james and sirius evidently get away with bullying him without any really onerous punishment], uncouth, desperate to be recognised for his talents, and so on - is an ominously plausible target to be groomed and abused by a teacher such as slughorn, who could act with impunity [relatively] safe in the knowledge that their social positions [even before we get into the power dynamic inherent between a student and a teacher] mean that snape would never be able to articulate what was happening to him and be believed...
and i talk a lot about how - when we think about how snape was radicalised into becoming a death eater - we need to recognise that voldemort appears to be the first person he ever encounters who offers him a chance at power and status which transcends the limitations of his class background. this dynamic could be made all the more potent if we imagine that voldemort is also the first person to believe him when he talks about being slughorn's victim...
and to promise him that he will offer him a chance for revenge.

To continue the aesthetic boards and HCs series:
Narcissa Malfoy
Tumblr media
represented by Helen McCrory
Random HCs for Narcissa:
· Youngest of the three Black sisters (two years age gap with Andromeda and four with Bellatrix) and Druella's favourite
· classical youngest child, a little spoilt, a lot of a teacher's pet, but also strongly influenced by her family's opinions of what she is supposed to be
· practically a little copy of her mother
· the only one of Druella's daughters that did an exchange year in Beauxbatons and reconnected with the part of Rosier family still living in France
· speaks impeccable French, plays piano, but practically never sings - probably solely because Druella herself didn't like singing
· loves dancing, wanted to be a ballerina when she was very little
· reads classics both wizarding and muggle, had started collecting a secret library in her childhood room
· can't fly on a broom for the life of her, somehow magically escaped those classes in first year
· enjoyed Potions at Hogwarts and quite excelled actually, but never pursued a carrier in connection to that - searching for a job is not what her mother deemed ladylike
· met Lucius in fifth year at Hogwarts. very hard to tell if it was love at first sight or Narcissa gaslighting herself into liking someone her family would approve of
· any way it was, she is the only one of Druella's daughters to be happy on her wedding with someone her parents suggested
· Narcissa was surprised when Andromeda eloped, but even more surprised with the family's harsh reaction. Despite sharing family beliefs and her closeness to her parents, Narcissa didn't want to cut Andromeda out
· visited Andromeda and Ted's house in secret a few times and got introduced to little Nymphadora, keeps writing letters to Andromeda every once in a while
· Bellatrix had tried to convince her to join Death Eaters several times, but Narcissa never wore the Dark mark: at first uninterested and then repulsed by the politics
· before marriage wanted to have several children, but after taking care of baby Draco she realized she is quite happy and busy with just one
· generally admires art, deep down would love to move to Paris with her family, but Lucius' job would not allow

hi!! i love your blog!! could you perhaps spare some thoughts on the lestrange brothers? you’re one of the only people i ever see post about them and i’m just so curious how people perceive them 🫶🫶
Helloooo!! And thank youuu <33 At the moment, I have a slightly loose idea of them that I'm building up on so certain aspects might be a bit foggy!
-Rodolphus and Rabastan are half German (Maternal) and half French (Paternal). They are fraternal twins, with Rabastan being 2 days younger. Their mother passes in childbirth at 19 and their father, 21 fucks off to France since he didn't want to be a father and leaves the twins in their families' care. So growing up, Rodolphus and Rabastan was living part-time at their mother's family, and their father's. Their mother was an Avery btw.
-Rodolphus is often very stoic and borders on apathetic. But he's never struggled with it as it never appeared as a problem, nor did he ever see it as a problem. He is somewhat of the "ideal" heir, he can socialize and make good connections, but he can also display a show of power that leaves people respecting or fearing him. So while his apathy is never exactly a problem, it quickly becomes one for Rabastan. Rodolphus has no problem being the heir, simply because he does not care too much about it. He loves his family deep down beneath it all and he can tell they love him too even though it's never really shown.
-Rabastan is very quickly shunned by the Lestranges because he's volatile and is more emotional about things. The Lestranges don't know how to deal with him and his outbursts so they favor just ignoring him more often than not. This kinda leads to him being bitter about them but also wanting to gain their love, so he kind of "surrounds" himself with the one thing he and the Lestranges have in common: Rodolphus. Rabastan is a mess of bitterness and love that he goes back and forth with internally.
-Their relationship is complicated. They were definitely close as kids but when it kinda becomes apparent that Rodolphus is closer to their paternal family and they also prefer him. It's kind of where they start to grow a little more distant. Rabastan feels neglected by Rodolphus who is blind to the treatment the Lestranges give Rabastan. But that doesn't mean that Rodolphus doesn't love Rabastan or anything, he does! Probably more than the rest of the family, he just thinks that Rabastan can tell (Which Rab can't really do) But Rodolphus does love Rabastan! He just doesn't how to get through the "guard dog" barrier that Rabastan has crafted over the years nor does he really think he has to! Rabastan's love for Rodolphus however becomes a blur between family need/actual "out of my own heart" love.
-There is a power imbalance that Rabastan has created as a means of comfort but it doesn't exist, Rodolphus views them as equals!
-Deep down for both of them there is a true sense of love and loyalty that is just buried with everything else.
-There is a slightly tragedy aspect to them and that is Rabastan dying in the 2nd Wizarding War and them never fully being able to reconcile. Since we know that Rodolphus survives (being the one that seeks out Delphini) and gets away, Rabastan is unknown. If anyone got a look inside Rabastan's mind in his final moments, it would've been about where Rodolphus was since they were separated at the time. (and Regulus)
-There is a funny thing where both families tend to project their children onto the twins, Rodolphus is the image of his father and Rabastan is the image of their mother. When, ironically, their personalities are kinda switched.
-This is so random but Rabastan is the more charming and charismatic between the two. Rodolphus, while he can be social, is too serious for some people. Rabastan's more emotional aspect makes him likable but he doesn't exactly seek out social interactions, preferring to stick behind Rodolphus or near Regulus somewhere private.
-Rodolphus' magic came out a lot calmer compared to Rabastan's, which was volatile and nearly uncontrollable. So most tutors for the twins were harsher and stricter with Rabastan.
-This is a random detail but there is a slight sense of irony in Rabastan's middle name, Daimen, which means to tame or subdue. Which I find funny so I kept it lol. Rodolphus' middle name is Alvis which means all wise. Aside from the irony, it also works well with their dynamic. Rodolphus is this intellect/academic person while Rabastan is his "guard dog", someone who is to tame/subdue any threat to his brother. It's just a nice detail I kept.

gnawwww rawrr rawr give me more rodolphus meta i am starving
hello my beloved atlas thanks so much for asking i will try my level best to satiate your hunger ❤️
i think we should talk about voldemort actually. i think it’s time. so. as i said yesterday, i think rodolphus (and also antonin) were both some of the earlier people to join the death eaters (around 1970, when tom comes back to england and like. soft launches his war). to me, rodolphus works his way up the ranks very quickly. like he’s determined, and ambitious, and when he sets his mind to a task he gets it done one way or another. and he’s set his mind to the task of voldemort’s cause (he also started off pretty high in the ranks just bc of his family name and connections etc)
tom likes him bc of the aforementioned characteristics but also bc he’s like. solid. strong. reliable. he knows what he’s about. he’s someone that could be put in a bit of leadership position in the death eaters (bc as i said before. he’s basically a poster boy for them, like in all aspects of his life even if he complains about or disagrees with certain things he’ll still ultimately follow through and obey the expectations or orders)
i think he and tom meet through family. in the hbp pensieve memories, a lestrange is mentioned specifically by surname in the slug club meeting. i don’t think this is rodolphus’ father, bc i have Opinions about tom’s gang back at hogwarts and whether the heirs of the pureblood houses would ever have been able to fall in line with someone who they had known in first year as a shabby, no-name orphan w an unknown blood status. but i think maybe this lestrange is an uncle? or something of the sort to rod and rab and when rodolphus takes over as lord, this uncle falls under his jurisdiction or whatever and mentions it to rod when tom gets back to england or something like that
and rodolphus takes his responsibilities as lord very seriously so he’s investigating everything that his family is involved in, he’s setting up a meeting w tom. i reckon the uncle isn’t a very high level death eater but he tells tom that his nephew, the lord lestrange wants to meet and it happens fairly quickly after that. for tom, it’s a good point of entry into the younger generation of pureblood society, the ones who, unlike some of their parents, didn’t know him before he became lord voldemort, the ones that he can much more easily turn into a part of his army.
and rodolphus goes. obviously. he goes and meets tom and they chat and they see very eye to eye. tom is very good at appealing exactly to what his interlocutor desires and its no different w rodo, he’s investigated a little pre-meeting, figured out what rodolphus wants and leans into it while they talk. and rodo sees a release, something he can use as an outlet for all the emotions that he has to keep under the surface. and he also obvs sees it as like. an important task, the destruction and removal of muggleborns from his beautiful pureblood society, a worthy cause.
in the first war, i think rodo has a lot of power within the death eaters. he was basically the first in his generation to join up so through him people like lucius and the carrows and obvs bella and also importantly rabastan all join up as well (and this is another thing. to me rab isn’t made for fighting. he hates getting his hands dirty. he should be at the club. like genuinely. and i mean club in the sense of a gentleman’s club or something of the like. but he joins bc of rodolphus). he’s the first link to the new gen death eaters which eventually leads to the likes of barty evan and reg as well
and obvs during the first war, lucius sort of acts as right hand man (this is another thing that i can go in to) and i think rodolphus is the left hand. if that makes sense. he’s got the family name and the connections and the sociopolitical power but he’s also got the drive and the slightly twisted desires, the thirst for violence that tom would’ve absolutely fed on and nurtured and expanded until it consumed him whole. until the death eaters, by dint of being a release or something of the sort, become the most important part of his life. become the sort of thing that he would sacrifice his life for (in terms of azkaban being that life sacrifice).
like seriously. he goes to azkaban THREE times for voldemort. THREE TIMES. and he remains loyal to the very end. he never even wavers in it. and that’s very important to me. he is very important to me i think about him far too much.

THE BIG FIND 2023: Day 2
The Big Find is a 10-day long Drarry fic-finding marathon to celebrate the blog’s anniversary. Below is the Day 2 compilation of lost fics, both old and new, that we’ve been unable to find. Our aim is to get as much attention to these lost fics as possible, to help people finally find their missing fics! Anyone can participate by reblogging, reading through each list, providing additional fic details, and informing us the title, author, or link of a fic, and their respective number in the comment section. Happy finding!
2.1 I’m not confident if it was in portuguese or english. Harry was an auror and Draco was an unspeakable and they were together on a mission were eventually they were captured into a sex traffic scheme. It was HEAVILY angsty and I think they were rescued by Rabastan Lestrange (i’m pretty sure it was him, but I think that it may be Rodolphus instead). It’s been YEARS since Iast read it but it made an impression.
2.2 Fairly sure that the fic was on ao3 and a wip but could be completely off the mark. The only thing I remember is that at Gringotts: the Potters’ will is read and specifically both Lucius Malfoy and Snape’s presence is requested; which is questioned by others present at the time of the reading. The Potters are aware that there is a connection between Harry and Draco - I’m guessing soulmate, mate if creature fic hence the request of Lucius. Possibly anti-Dumbledore but again not positive. fic is not ‘And The Forest Met The Sky’ by Silverhood, The Black Star by Aileen Dickinson, or Lord Thanatos by wonderfulWonderful 505
2.3 veela!Draco fic. Harry is draco’s mate and is extremely unhappy about it. Draco keeps his distance and nearly die because of it (veelas, in this universe, die if they are rejected), and Harry makes a unbreakable vow (i think that it is with narcisa) that he will at least try to be around. They eventually develop a relationship and Harry starts to search a new house for them, but Draco thinks that he is been cheated and die because of the perceived rejection. Harry eventually dies because of the vow he made and they meet again in a kind of heaven, where they also meet Lily, James, Sirius, Severus, Remus and other canon dead characters.
2.4 could have been on Ao3 or Hexfiles. It’s Draco’s birthday. Harry’s pov. Draco is in love with him. They have been friends for some years (and secretly in love, even though it’s only revealed in the end that Harry fell in love too). Draco always dances with everybody at his birthday except Harry. Tonight they dance. At some point Blaise says to Harry something like he should let Draco go so he could be with someone. There are plenty of people interested in Draco. Harry is surprised someone has noticed something is going on between them. Harry is married to Ginny and has kids with her. He can’t leave her. His thing with Draco started many years ago at his birthday party, when they talked about the war in a rose garden. They suddenly kissed. My memory might be failing me here, but I think they started eating lunch together maybe every week. They became friends, but also coudn’t help falling in love. At the time of one Draco’s birthday party (in the past) Ginny was giving birth or just birthed her and Harry’s twins. Harry was at the party without her. The need between him and Draco got too strong and Harry gave him a blowjob in the bathroom. That was the only sexual encounter between them. In the end Harry maybe dashes out of the party and Draco follow and confronts him. Harry admits he didn’t fall in love alone. I’m not sure if it was a wip or oneshot. It was all angst and hurt with strong chemistry and longing.
2.5 Ron is toasting the happy couple, maybe at their engagement party or wedding. He’s giving affectionate anecdotes about Draco’s bad behavior at school. Like, “remember the time he challenged Harry to a duel in the forbidden forest and then didn’t show?” (Not the exact quote.)
2.6 probably (like 90% sure) on ao3, but I read it a long time ago so I can’t remember. The plot was basically Harry forced to be with Draco in marriage or partnership. Initially Draco was very abusive, but slowly warms up to Harry. Harry gets to know the reason behind Draco’s behaviours is Lucius’ child abuse. Draco has secret bondage dungeon. He also has a shrine of Harry. Harry gets pregnant. Lucius is the main villain here. Narcissa & Snape are also here, along with the Weasleys though the later don’t make much of an appearance. Snape is the one who supplied the pregnancy potion to Harry. In one scene Draco admires Ginny’s attitude thinking she would’ve been good for Harry. In another scene, Draco & Harry are having sex, and Draco is clutching Harry by his throat but Harry loving runs his fingers through Draco’s hair. When their child is born Lucius wants to take it away but the healer who helped deliver stands in the way. Earlier in the fic Draco forces Harry to take poly juice so he could fuck a girl. Lucius dies in a fire at the end. The fire is at Malfoy manor. Though I’m not sure, but I think they spent their Christmas at the Weasleys where Draco promises to gift something to Molly. The fic also had an Author’s note on how they’ve forgiven someone for doing something similar in real life, replying to comments on how Draco is abusive to Harry.
2.7 drarry little mermaid AU. It was a dark fic, based on the original little mermaid not the Disney version and it was dark and didn’t have a happy ending. I think Draco was an elf/fae rather than a mermaid
2.8 All I remember is that it was Draco/Astoria, Harry/Ginny. Before it becomes Drarry, it was 50 chapters, and complete, I clearly remember a tag that said everyone gets a happy ending except astoria in all lowercase letters.
2.9 What I remember of the fic is only one scene so bear with me, Draco and Harry are in relationship I think and Draco is also there when order members come to take him from privet drive. And he also attends Bill’s wedding but during the death eaters attack he gets caught and they take him away to the manor, Harry cries alot after that. I this is multi chaptered. In this fic Draco defected I guess and he attends the marriage and disguises like how Harry does, but he is revealed and he is taken to the manor. Harry is devastated and then he keeps seeing him through his connection with voldermort being tortured or something. They are already in relationship at this point. fic is not The Wrong Sort by CaffeinatedFlumadiddle
2.10 harry is getting married to Ginny and he’s sorting out all of the things for the wedding and one of them is the cake. Draco works or owns the bakery that Harry is getting the cake from and they both start to talk and get closer. That’s when Harry realises that he’s not ready to marry Ginny because a certain blonde has his heart. I’m sure Harry, when ever he’s in doubt or just bored he apparates to the bakery and dracos always holding the daily prophet to see what the saviour of the wizarding world is up to.
2.11 it was on ao3 and i read it a long time ago (i wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t exist any more) but what i remember from it was pretty intense bdsm experimentation (between harry and draco) and they both started developing feelings but weren’t saying anything and i recall them fkin around in an abandoned class room? one scene i remember vividly is harry getting triggered by something draco says or did but it had something to do with his trauma with the dursleys and he calls out the safe word for the first time (which was snitch).
2.12 I’m looking for this specific drarry texting story I read on YouTube over 3 years ago. I think that it’s no longer on YouTube, but I wanted to know if it was ever posted on any other social media. The story goes like - Ron gives Harry the password to use the prefect bathroom where Harry stumbles upon Draco. Draco ends up doing some spells with the water (like a water snake like thing) and it fascinated Harry but Draco doesn’t really indulge in the conversation. When Harry tries to leave, Draco cages him and they end up having sex.
2.13 fic on ao3 where its set in 8th year and harry and draco are still fucked up meet up to (or just end up) fight(ing) a lot and one time harry takes it a bit too far and punches draco in the stomach, and draco throws up blood? And harry has to call madame pomphrey i believe. I dont think it was a particularly long fic but thats all i can remember.
2.14 harry and draco are twins but (i think) they were separated and then they got together like finding out they are twins and also dating lmao and okay then?? they became like rulers of the wizard world by making treaties and stuff w creatures and all that

Starter for: Narcissa Black @nvrcissasm Where: Black Manor
Having owled ahead to arrange a short visit, Rabastan arrived promptly and waited in the entrance hall while an elf fetched Narcissa. He was fond of the youngest Black daughter. It was an esteem that went beyond respectful acquaintance, not merely through the familial connection to Rodolphus, but also through her nature and her interests. Despite her charitable activities and her pristine conduct, there was a slice of darkness within the pale-haired witch. Rabastan enjoyed feeding the flame.
On hearing her familiar gait, light footsteps purposefully pacing, he turned and greeted her with a smile. "Hello, Cissa. I have a gift for you. I found this one in Prague." His tone was warm, his ordinarily cool eyes resting on hers without intrusive intent. Excitement stirred in their depths. He knew she would appreciate the item as much as he did. He hadn't bothered to show it to the Gringotts' goblins; this item would be his, alone. Or hers, as the case may be. "Come, let me show you."

do you like pandalily?
i do!! lilycissa is my favorite, but i do enjoy pandalily. i also find them really enjoyable in a marypanlily context, as well as xenodoralily.
i hc pandora as a lestrange, the youngest sibling of rodolphus and rabastan, so that makes them all the more compelling to me. ntm pandora is a Spells Freak and lily is a Potions Freak, so they can nerd out over their interests together and be all cute and sweet in private but utterly depraved in public because they’re both loudmouths with OpinionsTM who won’t let anyone shittalk their friends.
lily in my head also has an evangelist past, so her helping pandora deconstruct pureblood mentality since she’s been through it with the harmful aspects of her religious beliefs is so, so special to me. there’s just something too about them both being spiritual in different ways and feeling such connection to the cosmos and pandora looking into lily’s eyes and seeing the green of the fields she stargazes in and lily sees the chestnut brown of a wild rabbit in pandora’s like UGH them <3
they’re very “retreat to a countryside cottage and have an herb garden and make everything from scratch and learn to appreciate and reconnect with nature after a lifetime of being locked away working for the knife if you will and then eventually re-emerge into society 5-10 years later having found a way to manage their traumas and live healthy, happy lives with others but still value one another over anything else and can read when the other wants to go home” to me

Day 8 - Purple
Lord Voldemort watched the room from the shadows. Most people were still talking in small groups, only a few couples had taken to the dance floor. And there was nothing interesting in their minds.
He was bored. Social gatherings served a purpose in his cause, reinforcing the bonds that tethered people to it, acting as recruiting grounds to catch the younger generation early. They often disguised smaller gatherings of his inner circle, but beyond that… he found them boring.
He had no interest in making small talk, and certainly no interest in the young witches being outright paraded in front of him by well-meaning mothers and aunts in hopes he’d take one of them to marry. Nor was he interested in the wizards that occasionally hoped to join him in bed.
He had seldom indulged in the pleasures of the flesh, when he was much younger and forging the right connections. There had always been a purpose for those flings. Even during the years he had spent in the continent, out of everyone’s sight, he had taken a few witches to his bed, a way to sate his body and keep the blade of his charm sharp. It had also always been a pleasurable way to obtain information and knowledge.
His thoughts were interrupted then by a vision in purple.
Wearing a daringly cut gown, and amethyst jewelry that matched the jewel tone of her dress, Bellatrix Lestrange had just stepped in the room on the arm of her husband. Her brother-in-law followed the couple into the room, and several witches followed him.
The Lestranges would always be a good party. Rodolphus might have been taken, but Rabastan remained unmarried and had become a notable bachelor in their circle.
Lord Voldemort hid his smile, noticing how the well-meaning mothers and aunts had turned their attention to him, as well. They had slowly given up on him, understanding that he had no intention to start a family. Very few dared even approach him, now that it was clear he had a paramour.
His Bella searched for him along every wall, and smiled that wicked smile he so enjoyed when she found him.
“I’m glad you’re in a good mood tonight, my lord,” said Abraxas, who had been standing silently by his side. He had taken upon himself the task of shielding his master from unwanted conversations.
As host of the New Year’s Eve party, he should have been mingling with his guests, but he had left Lucius and Narcissa to the task. The youngest of the Black sisters had always a gift with people, and it suited the Dark Lord that she could play the perfect hostess for their people, and Abraxas had nothing to oppose. The two of them knew he adored Narcissa like the daughter he had never had.
“My mood has improved just now, Abraxas. Well done on the party, pass my compliments along to your daughter-in-law, will you?”
“Thank you, my lord. I most certainly will,” he said, swinging the firewhiskey around in the tumbler he held.
Lord Voldemort handed his own tumbler to Abraxas, and took a second to straighten his formal dress robes. Bellatrix stood in the middle of the crowd, talking to her sister and their mother, gathering envious glares from all around. Her hand remained on Rodolphus’ arm, who had said something that made Cygnus laugh.
He moved slowly towards them, nodding to people left and right as several curtsied. Later, he wouldn’t be able to recall a single one as his mind was entirely focused on her.
His Bella knew he enjoyed the sight of her bare back, and had chosen a dress he was sure required sticking spells to remain on her. Upon closer inspection, it had a single strand of silver chain connecting the halves across her back, clasped together by a snake’s head boasting amethyst eyes.
He had a feeling about her smile. His Bella had appointed herself the mission of figuring out his birthday. He didn’t like it, but she had gone about it in such charming ways… and he had to admit to being curious about whatever gift she had procured for him.
“Good evening, my lord,” greeted Cygnus, announcing his presence to the others.
Bellatrix looked over her shoulder and waited for him to be by her side. She kept her grey eyes on his, and curtsied, low and reverent as she always did. In doing so, she offered him a privileged view of her cleavage.
The dress had a sweetheart neckline, and she had chosen to accentuate the soft curve of her breasts above it by cradling an amethyst on them, hanging from an elaborate necklace of silver and smaller amethysts. Her hair, the black curly hair he liked holding and grabbing in his hands, had been gathered up, further exposing her neck and shoulders.
He nodded his head in the general direction of the group, taking the time to look everyone in the eye, acknowledging their presence. Then, he extended his hand, palm up.
“Bella,” he said, leaving everything else hanging in the air between them.
Rodolphus bowed his head to him as his wife extricated her hand from his elbow and placed it on Lord Voldemort’s awaiting one.
He walked to the dance floor, watching the crowd part for them, listening to the thoughts in their heads, finding envy and desire in equal parts.
Above all, he was interested in the images Bella would conjure in her mind for him to see while they danced.

The Pride
The Pride https://ift.tt/WIwvgCX by BlackRose344 With the disappearance of the Golden Trio and Voldemort’s early, sane rise from the dead, the Wizarding World of Britain is tense for the other shoe to drop. However, Lord Voldemort wishes for no more magical blood to be spilled, so he endeavors for peace during the summer before the Golden Trio’s third year. There are many questions regarding where the three are and how they will be found, but ultimately, it was a waiting game. Waiting finally paid off as Harry, Hermione, and Ron arrived at the Burrow a day before the train was set to leave. There were some interrogations by concerned family members, but the Trio simply shrugged off questions with vague, non-answers. How will this new tentative peace hold in Britain? PERSONALITY
(+) devoted, resolute, intelligent, protective, ambitious, fearless
(-) cruel, vindictive, unforgiving, arrogant, short-tempered, bigoted
FACTS
TW: Physical abuse, animal abuse
Idolized her father, hated her mother. Cygnus’ affection for his eldest daughter was sparse; he withheld praise and shows of love as a means of control. Bellatrix was the eldest and after Narcissa’s birth, he could see no sons in his immediate future. He had no heir; his sister’s sons would be first in line to inherit. This did not mean, however, that he would shirk his responsibilities and duty to upholding the family name – if he could not have a son, he would mold Bellatrix into one, and she would bear the brunt of these expectations for years to come. From Cygnus she learned what it meant to be a Black; how to wield the power that had been handed down to them through centuries of bloodshed and sacrifices; and how to discern the worthy from the unworthy.
Druella, on the other hand, desired nothing more than to have a daughter created in her own image; the perfect pureblood lady. Try as she might, though, she was never able to coax any semblance of submissiveness from her unruly daughter. Bellatrix was a whirlwind from the start, caking her dresses in mud, curls tangled in knots of leaves and dirt, as she ran through their estate grounds, her mother’s shrill screams in her wake. She would skive off etiquette lessons, climb down two story balconies to escape social events, and would habitually turn up to dinner with scraped knees and a fresh array of bruises. Druella would take to beating her eldest daughter in fits of rage, hoping to exert control over her with fear. But Bellatrix wouldn’t give; she refused to conform. If there was one thing she still had control over in this predetermined life of hers, it was how much pain she could tolerate.
During one particular instance, her mother lost her grip on the hairbrush she’d been beating her with; Bellatrix lunged for it and smacked it straight across Druella’s jaw. She doesn’t remember much of subsequent events – not the punishment that ensued, nor what her mother yelled at her, nor what her father did when he learned of his daughter’s transgressions. All she remembers is the look of terror on her mother’s face as blood streamed down her mouth – and her own visceral sense of satisfaction and glee. This felt good. This felt real.
Her sisters and cousins were a different story altogether. Bellatrix loved them ferociously. Their upbringing was a relatively solitary one and all they had for the longest time was each other. Bossy and arrogant though she was, she would defend them all without the slightest hesitation. Family was everything. The Black family name was everything. And so long as they were her family, they owned every inch of her darkling heart.
Bellatrix loved Hogwarts. It was a refuge of sorts from the expectations back home and a place to explore her talents and baser instincts. She made it onto the Slytherin quidditch team her second year as a beater and joined the dueling club her third year, later to become the club’s Slytherin head. She kept a close group of friends she deemed impressive enough to share in her presence and was a relentless bully to all others. Few dared to rise against her, as she’d curated a fearsome reputation early on, and had little qualms doling out hexes and jinxes.
Around her fourth year she became more and more engrossed with the dark arts after being gifted a copy of Magick Moste Evile by her father. Grew closer to Rodolphus Lestrange around this time as well. Was introduced to Voldemort and his ideals.Would torture and kill small animals to practice her craft.
Sirius and Andromeda’s disownings were vicious stabs to the heart; she grew colder and crueler in the wake of their betrayals and more fixated than ever on ridding the wizarding world of the filth she blamed for breaking up her family.
Married Rodolphus Lestrange a few years out of Hogwarts; joined the Death Eaters shortly thereafter.

How would Sirius react to Bellatrix's Biological!Child!reader getting sorted into Gryffindor? Even better, how does Bellatrix react when she finds out her most treasured child (more like object) is a Gryffindor? I can see her either completely glossing over it or giving reader the ol' burn-them-off-the-family-tree-and-disown-them treatment (times 100). Either way, I feel like there's a good chance Sirius will be joining reader's custody battle when he finds out lol
I don’t think yan!mom!Bellatrix would really acknowledge it too much but there would be slight disappointment in her child not being in Slytherin. She would probably be reminded of Sirius when she first finds out about her child being sorted into Gryffindor and she would immediately be untrusting of any and all of her child’s housemates. The only people she could bring herself to tolerate being around her child would be the Slytherin kids. I like the idea of Bellatrix having not been sent to Azkaban after having her precious child, like maybe once her child are brought into the world she put her all her time and focus into them and only them, entrusting the torture of the Longbottoms to Rodolphus, Rabastan and Barty because she didn’t want to part from her child for anything which in turn would result in her not being arrested for it leaving her to be Abel to be in her child’s life this whole time. If that were the case then I could definitely see Bellatrix sending the Reader a howler but it’s not directed towards the Reader but towards their new housemates. She’s definitely threatening them and their entire family tree all the while you can hear Narcissa in the background trying to calm her sister down and throwing in a positive message to the Reader and making sure to tell them to spend time with Draco and that he’s there if they need anything at all.
Also, Bellatrix totally would interrogate her child when they came home for break about their housemates and the ones who especially wormed their way into befriending her beloved child. She wants all their names, their family’s names, their addresses; everything pertaining to them she wants to know. And you can bet she isn’t allowing her child to visit any of their friends, even if they were in Slytherin. Once her child is back in her possession she isn’t letting go for anything. I mean Narcissa would already have to fend off Bellatrix just to be able to send the Reader back to school. Don’t even get me started on how she would be when it came to seeing the Reader off at the train station.
Regarding Sirius, I think his first reaction would be finding it completely ironic that Bellatrix’s child would be in Gryffindor like him. I think that alone would lead him to think that her child shares a similar personality to himself or something of the sort that connects them like that which in turn would cause him to worry about the safety of the Reader. His mother had been dreadful towards him in so many ways, he can only imagine how Bellatrix is or will be with her own child, especially after this. Sirius would definitely want to meet his cousin’s child and see what they’re really like, whether they take after Bellatrix in any way, shape, or form, or if they are much more akin to himself as he believes they are. He certainly would believe that the child deserves someone much more deserving than Bellatrix to be their parent and he’s more than willing to fill that role. I think it would especially sell it for him if the Reader was friends with Harry, maybe even to the point of becoming the Sirius to Harry’s James. He’d absolutely adore being able to raise both Harry and the Reader together. I can definitely see Sirius wanting to be to the Reader what the Potter family had been to him, especially once he ran away.
Sidenote; but I really love the idea of yan!mom!Bellatrix raising her Hufflepuff!child. I can imagine that with her extreme coddling and overprotectiveness/overpossessiveness, as well as Narcissa’s own added coddling and overprotectiveness, it would lead the child to having grown up much more sheltered and maybe seeing the way their mother was resulted in them being the exact polar opposite. Like, her child is warm, sweet, shy, kind, friendly, and just overall everything Bellatrix isn’t and can’t even try to feign being. I can’t help but imagine Bellatrix trying to get her child to become more like her but it taking no real effect whatsoever leaving her to be fiercely protective of her little cinnamon roll puff of a bby.

Please can you tell us about:
Madame Lestrange
Rigel Lestrange
Glory and Gore
And the marriage counselling one (the premise of this already has me in a chokehold)
This is very very long so I will put it under the cut. Thank you for the ask!
Ch.11 - Madame Lestrange Contrary to popular belief, Bellatrix Black was thrilled with her wedding day: the food was perfect, the music was perfect, the groom was perfect. In the whole history of weddings, there had never been one more perfect than hers. Or 1972. Bella & Rod's ridiculously expensive wedding day and all of its shenanigans, including but not limited to: a mopey and very drunk Rabastan losing his virginity, Bellatrix and Andromeda's last conversation, the Dark Lord's failure to RSVP and the trouble it caused, and (ofc) the wedding night *wink wink*
Ch.26 - Rigel Lestrange 1975. A very sad one, quite gory too and definitely not for the faint-hearted, but also one of my favourites to write because I've always been fascinated with Bellatrix's missed motherhood. (All my readers know what I think of TCC by now, and anyway, this story takes place from 1969 to 1981, so no Delphi). The day of her miscarriage.
Ch.39 - Glory and Gore 1979. Still unwritten. The story of the third time the Potters defied Lord Voldemort. It's basically a long battle sequence with a special focus on Barty, Severus and Rabastan (Alastor Moody is horrified with this new generation of Death Eaters). By reading Regulus' journals, Bellatrix realizes that the gold cup her Master entrusted her is a Horcrux. When he later summons her, she chooses not to tell him that she knows (Bellamort moment, idk if smutty or not yet). Rodolphus visits his mistress (who is NOT AT ALL a shameless self-insert, nooooo) to make amends for stuff he did previously; they make peace, but it's pretty clear that they are not going to last.
The Lestranges go to couples therapy A comedy; still unwritten but fully outlined.
Ch.1: The explosion 1996. The Lestranges are having yet another Earth-shattering row that just so happens to blow up almost half of Malfoy Manor. Narcissa and Lucius threaten to notify the Auror Department of their whereabouts unless they agree to go to therapy. They recommend a Diagon Alley marriage counsellor who worked wonders for them: she's discreet, will keep quiet for money and has a strong stomach. Bonus: they show up either Polyjuiced or with some other shitty disguise and are immediately found out.
Ch.2: Mr and Mrs Lestrange's marital problems General bickering in their second session, we get a look at the therapist's notes. They are the worst patients ever, but she takes them on as her personal project. Both of them hate her but they really don't want to end up in Azkaban again. Rabastan finds out they are going to therapy and immediately he tries to hijack their third session. He is quickly put in his place.
«Roood» Rabastan practically sang, plopping down onto the couch, right between the couple. «Bella. You didn't tell me the lady was a hottie». He winked at [insert name]. She did not look impressed. «Rabastan, I presume». «Oh, you guys! You talked about me! Wait», his tone darkening in mock horror, «did they do it in a weird way? While discussing their sex problems?» Rodolphus looked ready to murder him on the spot. [he proceeds to basically sexually harass her and cause a disruption to their therapy session] «I do, Rabastan. I do. I find you utterly fascinating» she said, staring at him over her glasses. «In your opinion, on a scale from one to ten, how much do you use sex and alcohol to numb the pain of an unfulfilling life, completely devoid of ambition and genuine connection?»
Ch.3: The Lord Voldemort Factor The Lestranges are absent from one meeting or another.
«It's important that you try to be present for these appointments without too much rescheduling, Bellatrix. It shows that you are making an effort for each other, that you care about the other person's time». «The only thing I care about is my Master's time!» «See? She always does this! She's flaky». «Who are you calling flaky?!» «We agreed there would be no name-calling». Bellatrix shot him a triumphant look. «And we also agreed there would be commitment».
Lord Voldemort inquires after them and finds out (either from a terrified Lucius or from a still butthurt Rabastan) where they are. He decides he has to see for himself. Our dear therapist is terrified, but then again his disguise is the worst one yet. Truly laughable. Voldemort has her cancel all her appointments for the day so that they can have a longer session (he desperately wants to be included). It's not like she can refuse.
«It would be my professional opinion that you try and find a balance, an arrangement that works for all parties. Something to satisfy Mr Lestrange’s frustration, Mrs Lestrange’s exhibitionist behaviour, and Mr... Um... the Dark Lord's need to be the centre of attention». «We murder Rodolphus?» «It would be my professional opinion», she straightened her spine, «That you have a threesome».
Ch.4: Yet another satisfied client I'm still not sure whether I want them to divorce or not lmao. What I do know is that there will be a plot twist. Let's just leave it at that.

Also my dear author, I have a request for you again... can you explain exactly what is it that Draco had to do to Rosanna's magic, I feel like it was explained but Im still confused. Can you please help a girl out and explain to my slow brain what happened?
Hi! Ok so Draco bound Rosanna’s magic to him, this stems from very old pureblood traditions. There’s a lot of prejudice and erasure within the pureblood community when someone marries outside of pureblood. So traditionally they try to cover up/hide the dirty blood. One way to do this is through binding the magic of the witch/wizard of lesser status to the pureblood. (Rosanna is a half blood because her father is a half blood and her mother is muggle born.)
Rabastan tries to bind Rosanna’s magic to him during the interrogation, but is ultimately unsuccessful. Her magic could in theory be bound to anyone connected to the Malfoy family. (Rabastan’s brother was Rodolphus Lestrange, who was married to Bellatrix, who is Draco’s Aunt on Narcissa’s side.) Draco never intended to bind her magic, which he also says in that chapter (I think it was 11), but he had no choice because Rabastan had already begun the ritual.
I hope this makes sense now! 💜

i must admit i am eating up the posts about the soldier and the violinist but i have to ask…how did this ship name come about? i assume regulus is the violinist and rabastan is the soldier, but i’m so curious as to why you chose these roles to ‘define’ them in terms of their relationship. is being a violinist so crucial to reg’s character that it actually plays a role in his relationship with rabastan, or is it simply so definitive of who he is in general? is it perhaps what sets him apart from rabastan, or is it what draws rabastan in? and vice versa, of course…i simply must know because they are starting to occupy my daily thoughts.
Embarrassingly, I've been waiting for a chance to talk about their ship name so when I saw this I had the biggest grin on my face lol.
I coined the ship name in the very beginning when I started shipping them and it's actually how I've built their characters throughout. And yes, Regulus is the violinist and Rabastan is the soldier :D
The basis of Regulus being the violinist is his role as a DE. He was more of a performer than a soldier. I don't think he played much of an active role in the war, being an heir (though I don't view it as that in my head) and having only been around for a year. But he still managed to get into this very selective group of wizards and witches who fought in Voldemort's name. So instead, I always imagined him being a really good performer, a violinist, specifically, who played so well that it caught Voldemort's attention, and paired with Regulus' family status and connection to Bellatrix, it didn't hurt to at least offer a position in the inner circle to Regulus.
(Important note: but this isn't meant to diminish Regulus' magical ability or skills. I think he is more of an "understanding in theory"/academic type of person I don't think of him as a person itching to fight. The knowledge part is also a bonus when he joins the DE. Compared to Sirius who understands better when he's able to act/experience and prefers to fight).
There is also an aspect of him that caters specifically to his family's ideals/duties/wishes all that jazz when he isn't even the slightest bit interested or he plays a specific role given to him by the high pureblood society which goes hand in hand with Regulus being a closeted transman whose feminine identity is twisted into something unsettling by pureblood society. But a lot of people already talk about something like that so I won't say much about it.
Then there is Rabastan who is a soldier. He fought for Voldemort. He was part of the inner circle, he bore the mark and all that. He fought in the books and he fought prior to the books. In contrast to Regulus, he got into the DE not because he was connected to Rodolphus nor because he was a part of the Lestranges but because he was a good fighter with or without a wand.
He fights for his brother and for his family's ideals because it's the only way he feels accepted. He is so different from his family that he has to utilize the few things that they have in common to feel like he a part of them: magic. I describe Rabastan as a "guard dog" for similar reasons why I call him "The Soldier": his ability to fight, notably for something else, sort of defines him in a way.
The ship name is their own respective identities so it doesn't really add to their relationship in any way, shape, or form. Unless you are willing to picture a scenario where they are both at a meeting and instead of paying attention to Voldemort, Rabastan is watching Regulus' fingers as he plays the violin or when Rabastan comes home from a mission and sees Regulus sitting in front of a clock where he had left the younger earlier that day before the mission, watching the hands tick and time pass without moving from his seat or when Regulus plays the violin for Rabastan who then teaches Regulus more spells for dueling that causes more damage than the ones he's read about in books because Rabastan creates them to do more damage.
