Joe Jonas is perfect example of how men run smear campaigns to paint their wives as the villain during divorces/breakups. The media loves criticising women and men use it to their advantage. So far, his pr team has went from painting her as an irresponsible mother to her apparently being an absent wife and a extrovert, despite the fact Sophie and the people around her literally describe her as a homebody and introvert etc. Not to mention, she's done a pretty good job hiding her kids from the media but not even a day after the divorce rumours, Joe Jonas goes out with his kids and exposes them for paps?

What does the birthday girl to-be want for her birthday, by the way? I know it's another sixteen days away, but I'm trying to get organized a bit. Also, don't tell me I don't have to get you anything. But if that's the case, you know I'm going to gift you another spa weekend or something like that, don't you? @sophiebelindasx

Game of Thrones – Sansa Stark
@xchxsingcxrsx like for a random starter!
Tumblr media
Sansa bowed to Jaime as she entered the dinning room, she glanced at Joffrey for a brief second before rolling her eyes, of course he was treating someone like trash, nothing new there she thought, but she was selfishly happy that she was not his target that night. “How are you this evening lord Lannister?”

On the double standards of Taylor’s love life and Swifties’ role in Taylor’s reputation
{Fair warning: this is kind of long and I actually originally wrote it during the Ratty stuff but it’s relevant now and this post from @9w1ft (specifically the tweet) made me think that maybe this needed to be really laid out there. }
Disclaimer: I am in no way claiming to know what Taylor’s sexuality is definitively, nor am I suggesting that every relationship she’s had with a man was fake, or that she is a lesbian. I myself have experienced enough bi erasure and biphobia to know better, but I had to put this out there explicitly so hetlors don’t have that as a “gotcha”.
Swifties have the lowest possible standards for whom they consider to be a boyfriend of Taylor’s.
Their standards are a) the media has to stir something up b) they have to interact distantly in some public capacity before they c) walk around together (holding hands or not).
I can give you the names so many women with whom Taylor acted like that, often for longer periods of time and with more interaction than a couple dinners and pap walks or whatever she’s done with those men. And that’s without time to go do research which would doubtlessly turn up more names.
To name some examples:
Karlie Kloss, Diana Agron, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively, Cara Delevingne, Martha Hunt, Sophie Turner, Lorde, all three Haim sisters, Zoe Kravitz, Emma Stone, Camila Cabello, Lily Aldridge, Lily Donaldson.
(To be clear, I’m not suggesting that Taylor dated all or most of those women.)
Now, I have no doubt that if most swifties looked up photos of Taylor with a lot of those women they’d go “they aren’t even doing anything in that picture” or “they’re just walking side by side” or whatever else.
THAT’S THE POINT
I’m 1000% sure that if you photoshopped a man into basically any of those pics people would assume they’re dating because they’re walking together.
Almost all of Taylor’s supposed boyfriends have had significantly less interaction with her than those women, but people don’t hesitate to say she’s dating the men. Her team can and will deny it, but swifties will add a name to their list anyway, and that creates a whole other problem.
The sl*t shaming:
In my opinion, the sl*t shaming that Taylor has experienced for about the last 15 years has been, at least in part, because of swifties who jump to conclusions about men she’s seen with. When her own fans believe she’s dated however many guys, it’s that much easier for the media to repeat that and twist it to be negative.
If you wouldn’t look at a random guy and girl standing within a few feet of each other or walking together and come to the conclusion that they must be dating, why do you assume that about Taylor? Or, for that matter, does every person of the opposite gender that you associate with have to be your SO?
[And yes that can easily be turned around on Gaylors, but the whole point is that we aren’t solely using proximity to link potential exes or lovers to Taylor. We actually do the analysis of the lyrics, we break down the connections, we do the research.]
My point is that swifties have contributed on a large scale to Taylor’s sl*t shaming in a way that should make them think twice about who they claim she’s dating. Unfortunately as we’ve seen with this M*tty situation {and now the football guy}, they don’t seem to have the self awareness to realize how they’ve aided such a disgusting campaign of hate.
One more thing: you can say that no one will say those things now anyway because Taylor is on top of the world and they wouldn’t dare sl*t shame the Queen of Pop or “The Music Industry”. You might even be right. But if you do this and feel no guilt or shame over how your actions may have played a part in the several intense periods of sl*t shaming that Taylor has gone through previously, you need to think about why that is.
Taylor said it best in her speech at the Grammy museum in September 2015. She was introducing Blank Space and talking about the situation that made her write the song.
“In the last couple of years the media have had a really wonderful fixation on kind of painting me as like the psycho serial dater girl… It got pretty out of control there for a couple of years because… every article would be like, Taylor Swift Standing Near Some Guy. Watch Out Guy!”
That sounds insane, and it was definitely worse then than it is now, but the fact that it’s happening right now at all is ridiculous. Swifties need to stop helping the media tie Taylor’s name to men as if that makes her relevant. She’s a highly awarded singer, songwriter, and performer who has set and broken records (and then broken the ones she’s set) countless times. Swifties need to stop pretending that dating someone is what makes her interesting or we’re no better than the people who think she only writes breakup songs.

I’ve been thinking of a Muppet adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. And there’s really only one way I see it going. Gonzo would narrate in character as Jane Austen the same way he did as Charles Dickens.
Piggy would insist on playing Lizzie and would be thrilled that Darcy is played be a handsome English actor. Let’s say Josh O’Conner, who plays the role like it’s a Merchant Ivory production instead of a Muppet movie. Piggy is over the moon that she finally starring in a “quality picture.”
Most of the rest of the cast is Muppets. The lack of major female coded characters is mostly ignored, just slotting the best or funniest option for the part. Beaker is Mr. Bennet, constantly roped into being a test subject for Bunson as Mrs. Bennet’s elaborate Rube Goldberg devices to catch husbands for their daughters, Sam the Eagle is Mr Collins. Statler and Waldorf are twin sisters Lady Catherine and Kathleen DeBourgh. Fozzie is Mary but instead of the piano he’s forcing everyone to listen to his standup. Link Hogthrob is Wickham who has to be dragged to elope by Pepe the prawn as Lydia.
And Kermit, sweet affable, Kermit, is of course Mr. Bingley. Piggy is happy to gush to him about Joshiepoo/Darcykins and how wonderful it is to be in a classic romance with such a handsome leading man. And she’s delighted when Kermit appears a tiny bit jealous.
The movie starts as a faithful adaptation, as faithful as it can be with the Muppets. Sure you get little interactions where they are clearly themselves instead of Auten’s character’s, commenting on the script, cracking jokes, bickering etc. Then Piggy witnesses Bingley-Kermit and Jane, who is played by an elegant English rose of an actress, seeming a little too chummy. Maybe the actress (Emma Watson would work) is assuring Kermit that Piggy doesn’t really have feelings for Josh but all Piggy sees is Emma’s hand on Kermit’s back. From then on she’s frantically running around trying to both perform her role as Elizabeth while also sabotaging Jane and Kermit’s scenes.
It works, she startles the horse Jane is riding making Emma fall off and twist her ankle. Emma quits. piggy declare she’ll just have to play Jane too, but no need. Gonzo as Miss Austen introduces a replacement, Lily James.
So now it’s Piggy vs. whatever pretty lady is Jane for this scene. Lily “accidentally” takes croquet mallet to the face. Josh OConner has to chase Piggy through a forest trying to perform Darcy’s first proposal because Piggy is hellbent on running over Sophie Turner with a golf cart.
The whole thing has devolved into chaos by the third act with Kermit screaming at Piggy that of course he was just acting! And he was just mad that she never considered him to be Darcy material. Gonzo rewrites the script so Bingley and Darcy were switched at birth and Kermit is actually Darcy. Final scene is the double wedding of Kermit and Piggy as Lizzie and Darcy and Josh now demoted to Bingley marrying last minute replacement Jane, Sweetums.
Gonzo declares this is all exactly as he, Jane Austen, always envisioned it.

I saw that an article came out just in the last couple of hours about Sophie Turner staying the night at Taylor's place. Just to be clear, I do not think that the Travis Kelce stuff is cover for/about the Sophie speculation that's been happening - I think the fact that the NFL had a commercial about it ready to run makes it very obvious that this was all planned in advance - but I do think the Travis stuff is giving a little cover for all the attention Sophie and Taylor were getting.
It just makes me very sad, because it really struck me how much it feels like a lot of the loudest gaylors on Twitter and TikTok have in common with the loudest people talking about Travis and Taylor. Sophie is a real person who, by her own account, was blindsided with divorce papers basically a month ago, and who was then further blindsided by having her children withheld from her custody last week. People deal with difficult situations in all kinds of ways, of course, but I really don't think that her priority right now is starting a secret relationship with Taylor Swift. And the way that some gaylors think every bit of information about them is proof they're in a relationship, while making fun of Swifties for thinking Taylor and Travis Kelce being seen once is proof they're seriously dating, just really makes me sad. It all feels very dehumanizing.
yeah i’ve grown to learn to just tune out most of this, which is sort of sad but, it’s pretty hard to bridge the gap with people who are invested in taylor’s every move under the assumption that she is looking for people to date.
and i agree. it shouldnt be that hard to see how sophie’s circumstances would shape her current life priorities. though i guess, if you’re a gaylor that believes taylor is looking for people to date or if you think her lover is still a mystery, and/or you are more focused on discussing taylor acting gay, then you’d probably be more excited by/sensitive to instances of taylor notably hanging out with new people in gay ways, or not gay ways.
by contrast, i guess with kaylor, we are all kind of settled in to a story that is several stages in to their relationship and so i think there is less left that we might feel like we need to uncover.. so we don’t find then need to talk about it as much. it’s just another dot on a long line from point a to point b.
on top of that, people on tumblr these days tend to find their people and stay in their lanes and so there’s less conflict, and less of an urge to prove or disprove things to other groups, because you don’t really need to interact.
i hope anybody feeling overwhelmed by twitter can find a little peace and quiet here :) the coastal tumblr air does wonders 😌

Do we think it’s somewhat rude Harry wasn’t there for the release in LA? Or no? Not rude.. but maybe just solidifies they aren’t in communication. I thought he would at least show up for her as a friend
I cannot stress enough: I think his absence and commitment elsewhere was a STRATEGIC DECISION.
Blondie has 3 exes who are not awful and with whom we have proof she interacts. All of whom have one (or more) songs on particular albums/behaviour in particular eras for which they are know: Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, and Harry Styles.
NONE were involved in release announcements. But when they albums came out?!?
In the depth of the pandemic, Sophie and Joe got in on the action supporting Blondie’s Fearless TV release:
Tumblr media
And we just saw Taylor Lautner’s triumphant moments in July for SN:

And her interactions with Harry? Stratospheric interest. No one talks about anything else.
This?

Controlled the news cycle for 2 days only 6 months ago, more than his AOTY won and RedTV finally getting a Grammy. Tree had to put out a press release about their long-standing, peaceful friendship (maybe bc a certain YB threw a tantrum?)
And not supportive or not in contact? Disagree. Here is what he wore in Frankfurt in his concert hours before SN dropped:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The entire lighting scheme, the band accessories - all purple. He wore purple tones the concerts before and after too.
Last night was a TRIUMPH for Blondie. Final night of an unprecedentedly successful US tour celebrating her entire career, featuring stolen music she is reclaiming. Continued dominance on the charts and in international and domestic concert ticket sales.
And now - she gets to reclaim her first iconic album, the one that changed everything for her. The one that contains almost exclusively and still routinely charts…songs we all know are about Harry Styles. Style is *currently* her 4th or 5th highest charting single NINE YEARS after the album came out.
After the year she’s had, do you think she wanted to risk last night being overshadowed by a man?
And Harry Styles has ALWAYS stood back to let her shine, praising her and supporting her in big and small ways. He has NEVER said anything even remotely bad about her publicly, while she has *never publicly said his name aloud*.
The is exactly ZERO chance that Harry does not get pulled into this dialogue in the coming months.
Let’s sit back and watch it play out. Being a Haylor involved a lot of patience; let’s flex that muscle now.

Between a crazy spring semester and writing my MA thesis this fall, I didn't get to read for fun too much this year unfortunately. But here are my five favorite books of the few I did get to in 2022:
(1). The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood. One of the best myth retellings I've ever read. Atwood presents Penelope as an unreliable narrator with an agenda of her own (this is an Odyssey retelling after all!). She then counters Penelope's version of events with the maids' point of view. Penelope's relationship with the maids, as well as her relationship with Helen, were the highlights of the book for me.
(2). A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. I know, I know. Game of Thrones. I blame beloved House of the Dragon for making me finally pick this one up. I'm so glad I did. I love Martin's characters. They're so well designed; each point of view character provides a different critique of chivalric society and the fantasy genre. Martin does a good job bringing each characters' story to a satisfying end in this one (especially Daenerys, Sansa, and Catelyn). The execution of the honorable Ned Stark is a shocking subversion of tropes.
(3). Carrie by Stephen King. I felt so bad for Carrie! I related to her very strongly. The most interesting relationship in this book for me was Carrie and Sue Snell. Between them was the complicated and ugly female bullying story I wanted to explore–– especially after the simplistic, boring story I'd gotten from Stranger Things 4. I wish Carrie and Sue had interacted more (I think it would have made Carrie's death scene more impactful for me), but Sue got replaced by her boyfriend Tommy in the narrative. Heteronormativity strikes again.
(4). A Conspiracy of Kings by Megan Whalen Turner. So fun, and I love Sophos! I found it really compelling that Sophos had to come to the realization that there was no nonviolent solution before him if he wanted to stay alive. He lost innocence in this way. In retrospect, that kind of character development reminds me of what I love most about Game of Thrones. Also, Sophos' relationship with Helen/Eddis is wonderful. I love that Helen helps to deceive him, because it's for the good of her country. I don't often come across stories about women in power who are not guided first by their personal loves and interests. (Thinking of Cersei Lannister here. Also Rhaenyra Targaryen by the end of dragon show.)
(5). Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. I love the characters! I love Sophie, and Howl, and most of all, Calcifer! I hadn't read this book as a kid or watched the movie, so it was all new to me. I think my favorite part about this story was the decision to present old age as liberating for Sophie. Becoming old allowed Sophie to shed her inhibitions, grow more confident, and more powerful in her magic. I like that story, especially for young girls, who are told that becoming old is the worst thing that can possibly happen to them. It's not!
Even though I didn't get to read so much this year, I still read some pretty compelling stories and met really fascinating characters– my favorite part of reading. Definitely getting back into the A Song of Ice and Fire universe has been a big deal for me. It's replaced Star Wars in my heart, I can't believe...
Here's to hoping I get to read more next year!
