🪡Chapter Twelve: Reminded me of You

You leaned against the table, watching a few other people walk in and out of the room. Although it was after class hours, there had more people in the studio than usual, though thankfully nothing too overcrowded.

“Hey, here’s your stuff, i’m sorry we had to meet up kinda late again,” Ino spoke as he handed you the folded shirt and pants. “Thanks, and don’t worry about it, I was gonna come in to work on Yuki’s dress anyway.” You fixed the outfit into your bag, and began walking off, Ino following behind. “Good luck on your project Ino, from what you’ve showed me I think it’s going really well.” From the short time you’ve been around him, you could tell Ino was very optimistic and social. When you met with him he’d usually go off talking about whatever to keep the conversation going, and it always seemed to work.

“Thanks y/n, I really hope so, though I think i’m just gonna go get something from the shop outside my dorm building and sleep. I’m done for today. What about you?” You two continued making your way out as you talked. “I’m visiting my friend, the one that’s helping out Yuji with his project.” From past conversations you had found out that Ino knew Yuji, and apparently Megumi too.

“Oh cool, you gonna go help them too?” “No, just bringing them some stuff from the store, Nobara sent me the location.” “Oh nice, well if we’re heading the same way I don’t mind walking around with you.” “Sure that’s fine.”

Unlucky for you, once you bought everything you wanted, two large bottle sodas and a couple bags of chips and candies, the cashier had told you they had just run out of bags. You tried your best to carry it, putting a couple in your bag, but not much could fit and the sodas were becoming uncomfortable to carry. You started considering just leaving some of it behind. “Need help?” You turned your head to see Ino, who only had a bag of chips in his hand. “If we’re going to the same building I can help you drop it off.” “um well.. that would be helpful, yeah.”

Yuji opened the door, only to find you and Ino, both with hands full. “Hey Yuji, surprise!”

“Y/n, Ino what are you guys doing here?” “I’m just helping out, but it’s nice to see you man!”

“Who is it?” you heard an all too familiar voice ask from behind Yuji. He whipped his head around to face Megumi who had shown up beside him. “Hey Megumi, long time no see!” Ino announced.

“Hey Megumi!”

Megumi got up from the small living area and walked to the kitchen island in the shared dorm between Junpei and his roommate, who was currently out somewhere. He saw Yuji excitedly grab a bag of chips and rip it open. Junpei leaning against the counter laughing at his behaviour.

“Megumi, I got you something, I remember you said you liked things that pair with ginger, and I saw these and thought of you, I don’t know if you’ll like it but there’s other chips if you don’t want them.” You held up a bag of some type of Lay’s flavored chips with ginger, he had never really seen them before, but just the fact that you had bought them with him in mind was enough for him to give them a try. “Thanks, these are actually my favorite.” A white lie never hurt anyone. Yuji spoke up, “Really I thought that-” “These are my favorite.”

Author’s Note: when i was writing the chip part i had lays wasabi and ginger chips in mind, they’re low key good ngl i recommend if anyone likes those flavors

🪡Chapter Twenty: Puzzle

You leaned against the balcony railing with Megumi next to you, both taking a breather after finally finishing the puzzle. Although it was small, it still offered a nice area for him to sit outside sometimes, and he was more than happy to share it with you.

“I feel so productive after that,” you looked at him as you spoke, waiting for a response, only to be met with silence as he seemed out of focus. “Megumi?” You tapped his shoulder to get his attention. Only then did he react looking towards you, yet his expression still made him seem as if he was contemplating something.

“What are you thinking about?”

He just continued looking at you, before looking away, covering the bottom half of his face with his hand. “Nothing just..” Megumi thought back to what Nobara had said, would you reject him if he asked? He wasn’t oblivious he knew you liked him back to some extent, but was it enough for you to want more than just flirting with him was what he needed to know.

“..would you, would you maybe want to start dating?”

“What?”

He phrased that awkwardly, he can do better than that. He wanted to get his point across, and now that he took the initiative he might as well just go for it. “Can I be your boyfriend Y/n? I’ve enjoyed myself these past few weeks, I know we’ve been going, or trying to go on dates, and I like you, a lot, so..” he trailed off, not knowing what else to add on as it felt like his breath was caught.

“Me too, i’ve enjoyed myself I mean,” you told him, eyes focused on eachother. He still waited for more of a response. “I’d be more than happy to have you as my boyfriend Megumi.”

You saw his face flush a bit, but the smiles appearing on both your faces was nothing you could fight back. Megumi leaned in giving a quick peck to your cheek before just wrapping himself around you in a hug.

🪡Chapter Twenty-three: Zip-up

Megumi walked out of his room, all his essentials by his side as he made an effort to not disturb Yuji and Junpei working on their laptops, discussing their project. Todo was sat on a separate chair, simply being there for moral support apparently and a third voice of advice. Just as he was about to walk through the door unnoticed, he heard Yuji speak up.

“Where are you going? It’s like 7:30?”

“Gonna meet up with someone, i’ll be back later,” and before Yuji could reply Megumi was out the door.

“Move,” Megumi said gently nudging your shoulder with his as he attempted to reach a place on the counter. “This Kitchen’s tiny Megumi, where do you want me to go?” You tried to maneuver in a way where you could still be doing your task while allowing him enough space for whatever he needed to do next to you. While he was over, the decision had been made that both of you would try and make a dinner together with the limited amount of food you had at your place. “There’s a reason I always go to your place instead of being here.”

He just scoffed in reply, then turned to look at you pausing his movements. “Well, maybe one day, you could move out of here.”

“Well obviously I plan on it, not going to live in the college dorms forever.”

“Yeah, like if you had a super cool boyfriend who you’d get serious with one day you could move in with him. After some time of course.”

“Are you saying you’d eventually want me to move in with you Megumi?”

He simply hummed in reply, turning back to his task, however he couldn’t hide the red appearing on his face. You held his arm, leaning in to give him a kiss on the cheek, before also returning back to your previous chore.

You sat in class, sewing a detail onto your design. The sound of the chair pulling up in front of your table caught your attention, but you didn’t look up assuming it to be one of your friends like Maki, Nobara or even Panda. You were surprised however, when you heard Gojo’s voice

“Looking good Y/n, I see your all most done here.” He started, “There wouldn’t happen to be anything else your done with hm?” he asked. A bit confused by his question you looked up to be met with Gojo staring at you through his blacked out glasses.

“Sorry?”

He didn’t repeat himself, simply kept looking at you, before getting up, “Nothing just return to sewing.”

🪡Chapter Thirteen: Iron

“I hope this one lasts us longer than the last one,” Maki spoke as she untangled the cord of the new clothing iron you guys had bought. “Well, to be fair the last one cost us 15 dollars with tax.” Maki plugged it into the outlet, clicking a button at the top of the handle to set it on the right type of fabric she needed. “Yeah, well this one doubled in price, so it better work.”

Maki was currently in a desperate situation of trying to get Kirara’s outfit done. Her model had informed her that they were taking a two week trip for one of their programs. This wasn’t a problem as it didn’t conflict with the date of the show, but it did mean that Maki needed to hurry to try and get the outfit done. In the case that if anything wasn’t working she would still have time to make adjustments to it while her model was gone, and it would be ready by the time they came back. Maki was close to finishing up, the last thing left to do was to iron on patches she had designed on to the pants. The only problem was that today was Sunday, and the studio room was not open. There was a solution though, and that was doing the ironing on her own.

“It’s not turning on, pass me the instructions I might be doing this wrong.”

“The instructions came on the box, here let me see it.”

Maki held her hand a distance from the surface of the iron, “It’s lighting up but its not heating up, look.”

“That’s weird,” You took a hold of the machine, copying Maki’s movements. You moved a finger to place on the heating part, “Yeah, its not I wonder- ow!” It wasn’t the smartest move, but just your luck that the moment you decided to touch the surface, it had decided to finally start heating up. Your reflex was to hold your injured hand with the other, but that also meant letting go of the iron, and watching if fall on the ground, breaking.

“Shit.”

“Are you kidding me Y/n?”

“You broke the last one! This just makes us even.”

“What else did Yuji say was on the list?”

“Uh, yeah that.”

“Pay attention! Are we missing anything else?”

You looked up from your phone, seeing Maki leaning towards you at the end of the shopping cart. The cart itself was barely full, considering there was a max of 8 things on the ‘grocery list’ Yuji had sent you guys. He had already let you guys know he’d pay you back once you’d get there, but you were surprised by a reassurance text you got from Megumi saying that he would make Yuji give you and Maki any money you guys had spent at the store.

The conversation had gradually changed course from that and now he was just sending you pictures of his dogs saying that he’d introduce you to them once you guys arrived.

Your elbows leaning on the handle of the cart, you switched over to the list saved in your camera roll, and took a look at everything inside the cart.

“Yeah that looks good, I think we got everything.”

The cart began to move forward. Maki dragging it as you (barely) pushed it forward. “Who were you texting anyway?”

“I think you can guess.”

“Forget I asked.”

🪡Chapter Nineteen: First Date

Megumi led the way as you walked by his side to a restaurant he had recommended, which was apparently also his favorite.

“I think you’ll like it, well I hope you like it.” he smiled at you as you two continued your walk. “I bet I will, sounds good from what you’ve described.”

He looked down at your hand, wondering if he should reach for it, at least to try and be a little more romantic. Megumi had been alone with you before, last night he was feeling especially brave, so why couldn’t he do that now. He felt nervous, more than he had been any other time with you. It might’ve been the fact that this was officially a date.

He was a little thankful when he finally saw the street sign of the place a few feet away from you. Maybe once you guys had settled down to eat he’d know what to do.

There ended up being a couple people waiting in front of you, so you guys ended up waiting to be seated for a bit. “You really like this place?” you asked him. “Yeah, it’s pretty good i’d say.” You took a moment to look around the place as you waited, it definitely went in line with the atmosphere you’d think he’d enjoy.

You turned to look at him about to bring up the whole fiasco in the morning, only to stop when you saw he had his camera app open, ‘discreetly’ trying to look at himself. You saw him try to adjust a few strands of his hair that fell on his face, his eyes scrunching slightly with worry as if he thought he looked off. “I like your hair.” you complimented, catching him completely off guard. He looked up from his phone, immediately trying to hide the screen as if you hadn’t already been looking at him.

“Oh, uh, it’s nothing special.” He had to look away before you noticed how red his face was getting.

“Megumi,” you laughed, watching his back completely face you.

“Shut up, don’t laugh at me, I take you out for lunch and this is the thanks I get?” He peeked back over, still slightly flustered but in a better condition to at least look at you.

“You’re cute, and pretty, it’s why I chose you to be my model.”

“Shut up, you don’t know what you’re saying.”

Just then the hostess called out his name, signaling the table was ready for you two. “C’mon,” he spoke, finally deciding to just grab your hand, as you both walked to be seated.

Excited to finally just sit down with you and talk, especially after working up more confidence, he was about to let go of your hand so you could take a seat across from him in the booth you’d been assigned. Yet the moment he heard an all too familiar voice call his name he cursed the universe for ruining his one chance. He debated running off with you knowing exactly who was approaching.

“Megumi kid, is that you?” You turned to look behind you, only to be met with your teacher, Satoru Gojo.

“Megumi! It is! And Y/n? What is going on here?” He had a more teasing, playful tone, yet you were a bit put off by the whole thing.

“Go away, please.” Megumi said, you felt him slightly tighten his hold around your hand.

“Oh but we haven’t caught up in so long! I basically raised you and now you shew me away? Why don’t we have lunch together, me and Geto were just about to be sat down, but we can just join you two! Don’t worry i’ll pay.” Before Megumi could protest again, he was already sat on one side, turning around to wave Geto over once they saw each other.

“I’m so so sorry,” you heard Megumi mumble to you as he sat down defeatedly opposite of Gojo, leaving room for you.

🪡Chapter Eighteen: Bro

You looked around trying to see where Megumi was, jumping at the sudden arms wrapping around you, but settling down once you realized it was him.

“Found you.” he let go of you as you turned around to face him. “Don’t scare me bro.”

“bro?”

“Heyyy, you ran away so fast? What’s wrong was I getting boring?”

Oh him. He was still looking for you.

“Is this your boyfriend or something?” he asked, staring at Megumi. He pieced two and two together, figuring that this was the man who was bothering you while you texted him. “Yeah, who are you?” he answered, hoping to get him to back off. “You can just call me Mahito, but that’s too bad. Well, you two have fun then, i’ll leave you alone for now.”

You both watched him get lost in the crowd, sighing after finally seeing him gone. “So, boyfriend huh?” Megumi just looked at you, and although he tried his best, it was still obvious to you how he was trying to fight a smile. “Just said that to save your ass, can’t be your boyfriend after you called me ‘bro’ .”

“Oh my god are you for real?” You almost laughed at his expression. “No, let’s go and get something to drink,” he grabbed your hand and pulled you with him, “and i’m not letting you get lost again, I don’t like weirdos flirting with you.”

“Who are you texting?” Megumi asked, finally recovering from his embarrassment of childhood pictures that you had been showing him from Maki. “Why are you jealous?” you asked. He hummed a little leaning his head into your shoulder. “It’s just a group chat, and Maki of course sending me more photos.” He smushed his face a little more into your clothes, “Doesn’t she have anything better to do? She’s at a party tell her to go do something instead of ruining my life.” You laughed a little.

It was a nice atmosphere, you could hear the music blasting from the main room, but you and Megumi had snuck away into another little foyer room of the house, sitting in the corner on the couch. It wasn’t the most secluded as the rooms around it were still full of people, and there would be others passing by you guys, but a lot less crowded than where you originally had been.

Megumi had gotten you guys something from the kitchen. He wasn’t one much for parties you soon found out by his nature of trying to keep you guys in less public areas. That wasn’t really a problem though, but you were surprised by how much he was attaching himself to you. From what’d you’d previously experienced with him, the only time you remember him being this close was that one time he fell asleep at the movies, and the exception of you helping him into his outfits. You never took him as a big fan of PDA, but maybe this really was moving forward some way.

Author’s Note: thought giving megumi an ex-emo phase would be funny 😊😊😊

🪡Chapter Two: Flirting Buisness Tactic

You walked in with Maki to the main media hall. Most of the furniture there had been moved to the corners of the room leaving a wide open space in the center, chairs for the designers were placed around it lined up to form a long narrow rectangle where you imagined the models would walk. You could see taped X’s placed at the end of the makeshift runway and half way through it. Looking up from your phone you saw Nobara waving at you and Maki, two chairs on either side of her occupied with what you imagined was her sweater and her bag.

“Finally you guys are here!” Nobara said as you two were within a few feet of her. You and Maki took a seat on either side of her, you could see Panda talking to a few people you weren’t too familiar with, but once he saw you guys he waved then went back to his previous conversation. “Okay y/n, here this is Fushiguro, maki’s nephew,” Nobara said, leaning into your side putting her phone in front of you. It took you a moment to process what was on the screen, a group photo of her, Yuji, and the one her finger was pointing at was a guy with spiky black hair. “Oh my god wait,” you mumbled, “I do know him!” Nobara looked up from her phone, staring up at you face. “What?! how?” You met her gaze and answered. “Well it was my turn with Miwa a week ago to hand out posters for the auditions. To be honest Miwa was probably working harder than me, but he caught my eye so I told him he was handsome and he should audition.” You felt your face heat up a little at your words, granted Nobara’s stare directed towards you wasn’t helping. No way was all that was going through her head, Megumi was right!

🪡Chapter Sixteen: Deserve each other

You sat in the fashion room, waiting for Megumi to show up. It was around 5:45 and he had texted you saying he was almost there, just stopped for gas. It was fine since you guys hadn’t agreed to meet till six, you just happened to be early. It was late and a Friday, so no one was really around, except for some people in the film room right next to you apparently. Every now and then you would hear a muffled yell, almost reprehending. You just figured it was some people arguing over something.

You saw another text from Megumi saying he was about to leave the gas station and head over saying he’d be there soon. Distracted by your messages, you failed to realize the person standing at the open door in the front of the room. You looked up after seeing something move in the corner of your eye, jumping a little when you saw Sukuna standing there glaring at you. “What’d I scare you?”

“Ew freak, what are you doing here?”

“Could ask the same thing.”

You looked back down at your phone, turning it off and placing it down on the table. “Waiting on Megumi, trying on his stuff.” He just hummed in reply heading over to the table you sat at “You and him a thing?”

“Well, kind of?”

He just squinted his eyes at you for a second, before replying “He could do so much better.” “Ok fuck you.” He just laughed in response.

“Was that you yelling in the room over?” you asked. “You could hear that?” He actually looked surprise. “You’re always so damn loud, just you talking gives people headaches, can you imagine your screaming.”

Even after knowing him for a while the way he stares people down still freaks you out, like how he was doing right now. “I wouldn’t have to if people were competent, my fucking partner sucks, he doesn’t know anything and his ideas are stupid, I should’ve hunted down Yuji or that one emo friend of his.”

“Junpei?”

“Jellyfish yea.”

“It’s Junpei, and who’s your partner anyway?”

“This annoying ass kid with blue hair, he’s so weird, I wish Uraume or Megumi were film majors. You know, actual competent people?”

“I almost did choose film, if that helps.”

You and Sukuna looked up to where the voice was coming from, seeing Megumi walk towards you guys, a small smile on his face. “Megumi!” you two collectively said. He responded with a hey, taking a seat next to you.

“How you’ve been? You and Y/n?” Sukuna asked.

“And Uraume?” Megumi replied.

“Goodbye, I take back my previous statement you two deserve each other.”

Author’s Note: this chapter came out WAYYY later than i wanted it to but i just got so busy even if it was in my drafts i could not find time to finish it

🪡Chapter Four: Leaf

Maki’s POV for these first 2!

Nobara sat against the park bench, staring at the lest message sent by Yuta. She looked up again to see Yuji waving his arm to the left, as Junpei stood behind a propped up camera. Although covered by the shade of the tree above her, the noon sun blaring onto her phone screen bothered her as she struggled to read what was displayed on it. Farther up she could see Megumi hiding in a group of bushes holding up a scarecrow, that had been DIY’d into a monster prop, and Todo who she guessed was supposed to be acting scared right now. It looked crazy to any on-lookers, but not like any of them really cared.

“Hey Yuji!” She called out, earning the boys head to whip back in reaction. “How much more is this gonna take? I need to be out of here before three.” Yuji looked back at her confused, “What? You said you were free all day?” Nobara simply shrugged in response, “I didn’t think it’d take this long,” granted, they had been there since 9 this morning but only because of Yuji’s indecisiveness on scenes.

“Can we just hurry up and get this over with?” With that Yuji turned back around to look at Megumi, who for the past thirty minutes had been shoved into plants while having to hold up the prop. Although Megumi played the main protagonist in Yuji and Junpei’s indie horror film, due to the limited amount of people they could find everyone had to double up on rolls. Just his luck that since he was the main role he didn’t have to do much than memorize his lines, but in the few scenes he wasn’t in, he had to do tedious tasks like this.

Nobara just sighed in defeat, regretting not taking Mai’s offer on going with her to the cafe across the street to grab a quick drink.

You walked next to Yuta down a concrete pathway, tracking Nobara’s location on your phone. “It says she’s-” you were cut off by a sudden force crashing into the side of your shoulder. You stumbled forward a bit hearing Yuta let out a gasp at your sudden push. You turned around to look at the aggressor only to find a familiar face.

“And what are you doing here?” asked none other than Ryomen Sukuna. Knowing him, this was probably his way of giving you a ‘polite hello’. “Walking, watch where you’re going next time,” you replied, only earning a huff of a laugh from him.

“Y/n! Yuta!” called Nobara, you looked to find her running up to you guys. “Hey Nobara!” greeted Yuta beside you. She turned towards you smiling, however it dropped once she saw Sukuna. “Ew.” In response, he only rolled his eyes. “Well let’s go guys, don’t wanna be around him any more than I need to.” She was about to start walking away, until yet another person called out, but this one with less enthusiasm. “Nobara, get your bag because I am not carrying this around.” You saw him walk up reaching out his arm with the purse you always saw your friend with. Yuta first to speak up greeted him with a ‘hi fushiguro’, followed by a ‘What’s up Megumi,” from Sukuna.

Once Nobara grabbed her purse, he looked passed her at the others, greeting a small ‘hey’ and immediately noticing you along the two. In response to his stare you gave him a small smile, “Hi, y/n l/n.” It took him a second but he managed out a second ‘hey’ except this one directed at you. “You’ve got something in your hair,” you pointed out.

Instinctively he tried to get it, yet missed. In a helpful manner you went to grab it, he was less than an arms reach away anyway, and took the small leaf out.

…

“Thanks.” “No problem.” “Okay, thanks Megumi, bye now.” Nobara said, turning to face you and Yuta once again. “Let’s go i’m hungry, have not eaten anything all day!” With that you three started walking off. “Bye Fushiguro nice seeing you!” Yuta added. You gave a simple wave back, watching Sukuna turn away, and Megumi reply with a small lift of his hand.

“Megumi,”

“hm?”

“Are you okay?”

“Why wouldn’t I be?” you didn’t notice it , but he tightened his grip on the wheel, his other hand that was by his side he used to pinch the fabric of his pants.

“You just seem quiet, what’s on your mind?”

“Nothing, but you never told me where we were going.”

“Oh right!” to be honest you had completely forgotten you hadn’t told him, and you did promise you’d say where the morning of. “It’s a little book cafe! My friend recommended it to me, I thought it seemed fitting.”

“So, you’ve been here before with them?” he questioned. “Nope, we can try it out together.” He smiled a little, and you did notice that, happy to at least get a little more emotion out of him.

“Hi! Welcome in,” A girl with a short brown bob looked up to you and Megumi walking in, adjusting herself at the front of the counter next to a bakery display waiting for you to approach.

“Hi,” you greeted back.

“Do you two need help with anything?”

“Not looking for anything particular, thank you though,” you answered, turning to look at Megumi only to see him already looking around the place, specifically staring off towards a shelf of books.

“Ok, well let me know if you need anything.”

You nodded as the girl went back to her previous task. There were only a couple of other people inside the place, probably less than ten. It was larger than you expected it to be from the outside exterior, but still very homey. You had just begun to take a few steps in, only for Megumi to grab your hand and lead the way.

“Look,” he said once stopping in front of a shelf, picking a book out and handing it to you. “One of my favorites.” You were a little taken aback, but just smiled looking at it, front and back, trying to figure out what it was. “How is your eyesight that good you saw this from the entrance?”

“Can you do that again?” You looked up, only to see him pull out a smaller camera from his jacket’s pocket. Smaller than the one you had seen him with before. How did you not notice he was carrying that?

“Uhm, okay,” and you repeated your action, feeling slightly strange, but at least he seemed more alive now.

“Thank you.” His smile at that moment was contagious, seeming genuinely happy.

“Was that just for you or for your project?” you asked, mirroring his expression.

“Do you want your hint for the day?”

“Yes please.” He leaned his camera towards you, showing you the four photos he took, “They are for the project,” he informed.

“What’s wrong with your loaf?”

“What?” Megumi looked up from his page, eyes wide full of confusion.

“The pastry you ordered, you took two bites and haven’t touched it since.” You had been watching Megumi for the past thirty minutes he’s been sitting across from you. Although you both originally started with conversation that had slowly filed down into you guys reading what you had chosen. You thought back to what Nobara had said over text and couldn’t help but think maybe she was right. He’d probably be happy if you had just taken him outside then given him a book.

“Oh,” he looked down next to him, starring at the piece of bread on the small plate, “It’s just.. too sweet.”

“Too sweet?”

He looked back up at you, shrugging before picking up his mug taking a sip of his dark coffee. “I’m not really a fan of sweets.” He placed the cup back down, then went back to reading.

“You’re such an interesting man Megumi.”

“Really?” he questioned looking back up to you.

“You’re interesting to me.” He just looked at you, both of you making eye contact for a few seconds, and he failed to look away on time so you wouldn’t see the pink dusting his face. “Thanks I guess.”
