Brothers Conflict ~BRILLIANT BLUE ~Common Route Translation (Part 1)

ラン:（ここは武蔵野市、吉祥寺の住宅街。わたしは地図を片手に、知らない道を歩いている） Ran: (I’m in a place called Musashino, the residential area of Kichijoji, walking down a road unknown to me with a map in hand)

ジュリ:ちぃ、緊張しているのか？ Juli: Chi, are you nervous?

ラン:う……ん、ちょっとね。 Ran: Hmm...a little, I guess.

ジュリ:まあ、無理もない。一気にキョーダイが１１人もできるのだからな。 Juli: I see. That's understandable since you're going to be gaining 11 family members all at once.

ラン:（わたしの肩に乗っているこの子は、リスのジュリ） Ran: (Hitching a ride atop my shoulder was none other than my squirrel, Juli)

ラン:（小さい時からずっと一緒だったジュリは、わたしの親代わりでもある） Ran: (He’s also kind of a substitute for my parents since he’s been with me for as long as I can remember.)

ジュリ:『サンライズ・レジデンス』か。こんな一等地にマンションを丸々一棟所有しているというのは、すごい話だな。 Juli: The ”Sunrise Residence”? It’s amazing how they own one of the most expensive real estates. A mansion; and a whole one at that.

ラン:うん……。一体、どんなところなんだろう。 Ran: Hm……。I wonder what kind of place it is.

ラン:キョーダイになる人達ともこれから、うまくやっていけるといいんだけど……。 Ran: It’ll be great if I can get along with the people who’re to be my siblings……。

ラン:（それに、ジュリとおしゃべりできることも隠しておけるかな……） Ran: (Perhaps I should also hide the fact that Juli can actually talk...)

ラン:（とはいえ、どうして会話できるの？って言われても、わたしにもわからないし……） Ran: (Come to think of it, how can he talk? That’s something that even I’m stumped at...)

ジュリ:ちぃ、違う。そこの角は左だ。 Juli: Chi, you’re going to wrong way. You should have turned left over that corner there.

ラン:……え！？ Ran: …...Eh!?

ジュリ:まったく、おまえは地図も読めないのか。あぶなっかしいな。 Juli: Honestly, can’t you even read a map right? How unreliable.

ラン:ごめん、ごめん。ありがと、ジュリ。 Ran: Sorry, sorry. Thanks Juli.

ジュリ:ほら、深呼吸でもしてみろ。一度、心を落ちつかせたらどうだ？ Juli: Look, how about you try taking a few deep breaths to calm yourself down a little?

ラン:うう。だって……。 Ran: Uu. That's because…

ジュリ:いいから落ちつけ。……私がついているだろう？ Juli: It's alright so just calm down……I’m here aren't I?

ラン:……そうだね！　ありがとう、ジュリ。少し緊張もほぐれたみたい。 Ran: …...You're right! Thanks, Juli. It seems like my nervousness has dispersed a little.

ジュリ:では、行くか。 Juli: Then, let's go.

ラン:（この時のわたしはまだ知らない。誰かを想って切なくなることや、苦しくなることを） Ran: (Oblivious to what was to come in the future, I never thought that one day, just the mere thought of someone would be so heartrending and painful.)

ラン:（会いたい時に会えるのに、胸の内を伝えてはいけない関係があることを） Ran: (Even though we can meet whenever we want to, the feelings we have for each other will never come to fruition; For there is a line that we cannot cross...)

ラン:（５月２２日。今日はわたしにとって、忘れられない日） Ran: (The 22th of May. Today's a day I’d never forget)

ラン:ここをまっすぐでいいんだよね？ Ran: It’s just straight down from here, right?

ジュリ:地図を見る限りだと……そのようだな。 Juli: That’s as far as I can conclude by looking at the map so I suppose so...

ラン:（わたしが今、ジュリと一緒に向かっているのは、わたしの新しい家――朝日奈家） Ran: (Right now, I was headed together with Juli to the place I’d call my new home――The Asahina family.)

ラン:（こんなふうに、わたしに新しい家、新しい家族ができることになったのには、もちろん、ちゃんと理由がある） Ran: (Of course, there’s a proper, solid and legitimate reason leading up to all of this. Me getting a new home along with a new additions to the family, all in one pack.)

ラン:パパ、どうしたの？急に改まって、話なんて。 Ran: What’s wrong, dad? It isn’t like you to be acting so formal. You said that you had something you wanted to talk to me about?

麟太郎: ああ、実はな。ランに会ってもらいたい人がいるんだ。 Rintaro: Yeah. Well, there’s actually someone I’d like you to meet...

ラン:うん……いいけど？　パパの知り合い……？ Ran: I see...Of course, I don’t have any qualms about it. Is this person one of your acquaintances…?

麟太郎: まあ……知り合いというか……。 Rintaro: Well...Rather than an acquaintance...

ラン:……？ Ran: ……？

麟太郎:あの、な。父さん、再婚したいと思ってるんだ。 Rintaro: You see, I'm thinking of remarrying.

ラン:さ、再婚！？ Ran: R-Remarrying!?

ラン:（パパから再婚の話を聞いた時はびっくりしたけど。でも、わたしなりにちゃんと考えて、応援しようって決めた） Ran: (I was honestly taken aback when I first heard about dad wanting to get married again. Although I decided that I’d support his decision after some thinking on my own side of things.)

ラン:（わたしは本当のママの顔を写真でしか知らない） Ran: (I’ve only ever seen photographs of my biological mother.)

ラン:（ママはわたしを生んで、すぐに亡くなったと聞いている） Ran: (I heard that she passed soon after I was born.)

ラン:（男手一つ、たった１人でわたしを育ててくれたパパに好きな人ができた。それって、とても素敵なことだと思えたから） Ran: (My dad who has been single-handedly raising me all this time has finally found someone who shares his affections. I think that’s brilliant.)

ジュリ:本当は今日くらい、ミワにでも案内してもらえれば良かったんだがな……。 Juli: It would have been great if Miwa was able to guide us to her place today at least...

ラン:しょうがないよ、美和さんはお仕事が忙しそうだもん。 Ran: There’s not much we can do about it since she’s busy with her workload.

ラン:（美和さんっていうのはパパの再婚相手の方で、なんと大手アパレルメーカーの社長さん！） Ran: (MIwa-san was the reason why my father had decided to take up marriage again. She’s also the president of a big fashion apparel retailer!)

ラン:（そういえば、確か初めて会った時も、美和さんは忙しそうにしてたなあ） Ran: (She seemed really busy when I first met her too if my memory serves well.)

美和: ごめんなさいね……！こうしてせっかくお食事に招いていただいた��に、仕事で遅くなってしまって。 Miwa: I’m really sorry for being held up at work even though you took the time to invite me out for a dinner like this…!

麟太郎:いいんだよ、美和さんが忙しいのはわかっているから。 Rintaro: No worries there, I do know that you’re busy after all.

美和:こちらがランさん？ Miwa: This is Ran-san?

ラン:は、初めましてっ……！ランです！ Ran: N-Nice to meet you……！I’m Ran!

美和:初めまして。あなたのお父様とお付き合いさせていただいております、朝日奈美和です。 Miwa: Nice to meet you. I’m Asahina Miwa and I’ve been dating your father.

美和:良かったら、名前で呼んでもいいかしら？ Miwa: May I address you by your first name if you don’t mind me doing so?

ラン:は、はいっ！ Ran: O-Of course!

美和:……。 Miwa: ……

ラン:……？　あの……？ Ran: ……？Um……？

美和:ああ、やっぱり女の子ってかわいい！ Miwa: Ahh, girls just are as cute as I thought !

ラン:は……？ Ran: Huh……？

美和:私の子供は男ばかりなの。女の子がずっと欲しかったんだけどね。 Miwa: All of my children are boys and I’ve always wanted a girl, you see.

ラン:そ、そうなんですか……？ Ran: I-Is that so……？

美和:あら、いけない。いきなりごめんなさい、こんな話をして。お料理、取り分けるわね。 Miwa: Oh, dear me. Sorry for springing something like this on you out of the blue. I’ll serve the food, alright?

ラン:あ、ありがとうございます。 Ran: T-Thank you.

ラン:（美和さんは明るくて、優しくて、とても華やかな人だった） Ran: (She’s bright, kind and truly an optimistic individual.)

ラン:（美和さんとの食事は想像していたよりもずっと楽しくてどれだけ話をしても、話題は尽きることがなかったのを覚えている） Ran: (I do remember for a fact that eating together with her had been much more enjoyable than I had originally thought it would be. The topics we conversed about seemed endless no matter how much we chatted and bantered.)

麟太郎:おっと、もうこんな時間なんだね。美和さん、今日は来てくれてありがとう。 Rintaro: Oops, it’s gotten pretty late now. Thank you for coming down today.

美和:いいえ、こちらこそ。ランちゃんとたくさんお話できて楽しかったわ。 Miwa: Not at all, I could say the same! It was really fun talking to Ran-chan.

ラン:はい、わたしもすごく楽しかったです！ Ran: Same here, it was really an enjoyable time!

美和:そう、それなら良かった……。 Miwa: I see, that’s a relief to hear...

美和:ねえ、ランちゃん……。私達……。 Miwa: Hey, Ran-chan...We...

ラン:………？ Ran: ………？

美和:……ううん、なんでもないわ。またね、ランちゃん。 Miwa: ...No, it’s nothing at all. See you again!

ラン:はい、美和さん。これからもよろしくお願いします……！ Ran: See you again, Miwa-san. Please take care of me from now on…!

ラン:（あの時、最後に少しだけ不安そうな顔をのぞかせた美和さんに、わたしはできる限りの笑顔で、元気良く頭を下げた） Ran: (She looked a little uncertain in the end. All I could do at that time was to bow at her with the best smile I could muster.)

ラン:（今まで他人だった者同士、いきなり家族になるなんてそう簡単なことじゃないかもしれない。でも……） Ran: (It might not be so easy for people who have been alone all their lives to suddenly become a family. I know that, but still...)

ラン:（それでも、パパと美和さんなら……わたし達なら、きっと大丈夫だよね？） Ran: (If it’s dad and Miwa-san we’re talking about...If it’s us...I’m sure that everything will work out in the end...Right?)

ジュリ:どうした、ちぃ？今度は顔がニヤニヤしているぞ。緊張しすぎて、ついにおかしくなったか？ Juli: What’s wrong, Chi? You’re smiling in a rather odd fashion. Have the nerves driven you mad?

ラン:もう、違うよ！！ Ran: For the upteenth time, no!!

ラン:緊張はしてるけど、新しく家族ができるってやっぱりうれしいな、って思ったの。 Ran: I was just thinking about how I’m elated to have new additions to our family, even though I’m still a little nervous about it all.

ラン:兄弟に会えるの楽しみだな～。どんな人達なんだろう？ Ran: I’m really looking forward to meeting my brothers~ I wonder what they’re like?

ラン:（そう。これは美和さんとの食事のあとで、パパから聞いたんだけど……） Ran: (That’s right. Although this was only something I heard about from dad after the meal we had together with Miwa-san...)

ラン:（美和さんが『サンライズ・レジデンス』というマンションを所有していること） Ran: (I was told that she owns an apartment known as the “Sunrise Residence”)

ラン:（そこには美和さんの息子が１１人住んでいて、その全員がわたしの家族になるんだってことを……） Ran: (That she had 11 sons who were all living under that roof...And that they were to become part of my newly-found family.)

ジュリ:何か間違いが起こらないといいのだが……。 Juli: I hope that we don’t mess anything up...

ラン:大丈夫だよ。『みんな、いい子達だから、その点は心配ない』ってパパも言ってたし。 Ran: I’m sure we’ll be fine. Dad did say that “They’re all good kids so there’s nothing to worry about in that department”.

ジュリ:……どうだろうな。 Juli: ...I wonder about that.

ラン:（不安に思うこともあるけど……きっと大丈夫） Ran: (I’m a little uncertain about it myself but I’m sure that it’ll be alright...)

ラン:（たくさんの温かな日常が、わたしを待っているはず……） Ran: (I’m sure that the days filled with warmth are waiting for me out there...)

ラン:あれ？うーん……もう近くまで来ているはずなんだけど……？ Ran: Huh? Hmm...Weren’t we supposed to be closer to our destination right now…?

ジュリ:ちぃ……。この懇切丁寧に描かれた地図を持ちながら、どうして道を間違えられるんだ？ Juli: Chi...How in the world did you manage to lose your way even with such an intricately drawn-up map?

ジュリ:おまえの方向感覚は壊滅的だな。ほら、地図を見せてみろ。 Juli: Your lack of direction sense is a cause for disaster. Come on, let me take a look at the map.

ラン:う、うん。ジュリはなんで道がわかるの……？てゆうか、地図の読めるリスって……。 Ran: Y-Yeah. Hey Juli? How do you know the way around…? And on that note, how can a squirrel be reading a map…?

Takumi: They’re here… So, you’re the ones pillaging the ruins? I worked in shifts, and was asleep until now, so I’m feeling alright. I had this stupid dream where after we fought, I became really rich. …Even though that would never happen in reality! Let’s hurry up and fight while I’m not half asleep.

カゲロウ推参致した… これ以上の無体は許さんぞ。▼ …このような者たちでも、財宝に目が眩むのだな。▼ 美しい物を集めるということは、こいつらには美醜がわかるということか。▼ ならば私の絵を見せてみたいな… 卒倒すれば、戦が楽に終わる。▼

あらまあ…やっと見つけましたわ。さあ、早く闘いましょう。▼ 私、夜通し考えていましたのよ。遺跡荒らしがどのような方々なのか。▼ さぞかし目の覚めるような死に様を見せてくださるんでしょうね…？▼

Reina: Ah ha… I’ve finally found you! Let’s stop wasting time and fight! I was up all night. So, you’re the kind of beings that would pillage a ruin? Would you like me to show you the most spectacular way to die…?

やあ。キミたちが持っている、ぴかぴかのモノはなんだい？▼ もしかして、カムイたちが持ってるオカネってやつなのかい？▼ なんだかとても美しく見えるよ。すごく気になってしまうよ。▼ うう…我慢できない！ボクにも少しだけ分けておくれ！▼

Kaden: Hey guys! What’s that sparkly stuff you’ve got there? Is it like the money Corrin and everyone else use? It looks kinda pretty! I’m really interested in it! Oh… I just can’t resist! Let me have some!

[リョウマ]

待っていたぞ…夜を徹してな。夜明かしなど、俺にとっては何でもない。▼ 武士であるならば、寝ずとも食わずとも、万全の態勢であるべし。▼ 俺の前に現れたことが貴様の運の尽きだと思って…▼ …潔く諦めろ。▼

Ryoma: We waited… and stayed up all night. But such a thing is easy for me. As a samurai, even if I do not eat or sleep, I am always in top form! The fact that you appeared before me means that you are out of luck… …Admit defeat.

[クリムゾン]

へえ…！この場所、最高にいかしてるね！▼ 水場に財宝が眠ってるってのは、なかなかロマンがあっていいと思うよ。▼ キラキラは心を癒してくれるからね。集めて持って帰りたい気持ちはわかる。▼ でも、本当に光り物を愛するのなら… こんな風に奪ったりしちゃいけないよ。▼

Scarlet: Wow! This place is the best! I think it’s so romantic! The way it sparkles is so calming! I want to collect all the treasure up and take it home with me! But, if I really care about sparkly things… then I can’t steal this treasure like that.

Day 1162 - 殆どの人

Spent some more time reading through the tutor sheet and working with it grammar wise as planned, although I was finding it quite tough still to be honest. I think it was somewhat helpful, I worked out a few things, but still a fair few crazy sentences that I’m finding hard..hopefully we can make some more progress with it tomorrow. Definitely as I said yesterday after my initial read through it, a harder than usual one partly, or well mostly I think, due to the subject matter...but there’s a lot of grammar in there that’s new to me, such as つつ which as a sidenote here, is easy, as it just means ながら and isn’t necessary to ever use really, but anyway, yeah, lots of stuff which isn’t bad, just still finding it quite tough after tonight’s work with it. So definitely going to go back tomorrow and try some more to work with it and deconstruct all the grammar. Hopefully I picked up more than I think after tonight’s, after I sleep on it and return tomorrow and try to break some more of it down! Getting some of the vocab in my head though.

After this to take a break from it, as I could have easily worked a solid hour on this alone, but it would have killed me, so I moved on to start writing out a response to the questions which was as always nice practice to do. 「朝型勤務」って効果的？残業削減につながらない会社の悪習慣

残業をせず早めに切り上げ、普通より早く出勤して朝の業務時間を増やす「朝型勤務」。一見、効率が良いように見えるが、順調に実現できているのか。

そこで朝型勤務の導入を支援している会社の代表者に、朝方勤務のリアルなところを聞いてみた。

「朝型勤務」導入は実際、残業削減につながっているのか？

今回話を聞いたのは働き方改革コンサルティングを行う、習慣化コンサルティング株式会社の代表取締役古川武士さんだ。朝型勤務の導入を支援しているというが、実際のところ、その効果はどうなのだろうか。

「夜遅くまで長時間残業するような、ダラダラとした仕事リズム、そして生産性の悪さは、働き方の『習慣』の結果です。ですから、社員の働き方の『習慣』を変える必要があります。朝型勤務スタイルがうまく定着すれば、間違いなく生産性は高まります。

しかし朝型勤務を実施している会社でも、形骸化している会社と、有効に残業削減につながっている会社があります。

形骸化している会社は、社員が深夜残業のリズムを変えられないパターンです。朝型勤務は、夜は断ち切って、朝、その分、早く会社に来て仕事を済ませることが原則ですが、上手くいかない会社は夜断ち切らせる制度が甘かったりします。退社時間の徹底、早帰りの徹底が不十分です。

一方、残業削減につながっている会社は、朝の仕事リズムを習慣付ける社員が増えていっています。特徴は、退社時間を死守させていること、そして何より半年から１年がかりで人事部が自らも実践し、全社運動として粘り強く実施しているケースが多いです」

朝型勤務を定着させるためには、社員総出でその悪習慣を改善する努力が必要であるようだ。

確かに夜型になってしまったサイクルを朝型に戻す際には非常に苦労する。それを会社全体でやるというのだから大変だ。やはり粘り強さが必要か。

朝型勤務のメリットとデメリット

朝型勤務は残業削減の他、どんなメリットがあるのか。また、デメリットも気になるところ。古川さんに挙げてもらった。

●メリット

1.朝、頭が冴えた中でクリエイティブな思考力、分析力、構成力などを要する“頭脳集約”的な仕事をすると、生産性は飛躍的に高まる

2.朝型にシフトすると、朝は絶対的に時間の制限があるので、限られた時間でどうやって終わらせるかという密度を高める発想が生まれる

3.夜ダラダラ残るムードが解消される。結果、全社員が帰りやすい

●デメリット

1.残業代をつけない制度にすると、ただサービス残業が増えるだけになることもある

2.朝早く来て、さらに夜も深夜残業になると、労働時間が増えるだけに終わることもある

3.夜、肝心な人がいないと他のメンバーの問い合わせが保留になり、仕事が進まないこともある

朝型勤務を成功させるために社員が意識するポイント

今後、朝型勤務が社内に導入された際、もしくはすでに導入されている場合、社員の立場としてはどのようなことを意識すればいいのか。

「まずは、退社時間を死守する、寝る時間を早くすることが一番はじめの改革です。

いつもの仕事をいつも通りやっていると、永久に朝型仕事にシフトすることはできません。

出社時間を朝型にしたら、夜は容赦なく決めた退社時間で切り上げましょう

この英断をしつつ、朝集中して頑張る“高密度化”の習慣リズムをつくってみてください」

そして忘れてはいけないのが、家族への影響。早朝出勤に付き合う家族がいる場合、配慮が必要だという。

「家族が朝型勤務に付き合う場合、早起きが必要になるのはもちろん、生活リズムを変えて朝型にするには、夜寝る時間を早める必要もあります。そのためには、食事や風呂など、夜の習慣も連動しますので、家族の理解は必要です」

健康的で幸せな毎日を過ごすためには、やはり仕事とプライベートのバランスが大切だ。いつまでもダラダラと残業を続けていては、大切な時間の浪費だ。生活にメリハリをしっかりつけて、快適な社会人ライフを送ろう。
