할머니는 화분을 가꿨다

화분에 먹을 걸 심지도 않는데

정성스레

물주고 닦아주고

내놓은 집을

어떤 사람이 보러왔다

식물이 있을 방이 필요하단다

100개가 넘는 식물이

고개가 절레절레 흔들어졌다

너무 많다

식물을 화분에 넣고

가꾸는 마음은 어떠할까

생각한다

외로워서

쓸모있어 보이고 싶어서

할머니는 나이들수록

쓸모있음을 증명하기위해

화분에 쓸모를 부여했다

혼자 사는 집보러온 사람은

외로운 눈을 들키지 않기위해

식물로 외로움을 감싼다

시간의 공허함을 이겨내기위해

옆에 두기 쉬운

식물을 둔다

그리고 가꾸며 공허함이 자라지 않도록

꾹꾹 누른다
