I am doing well at school. This spring semester was... something else. I started a lot of new activities, went back to offline classes and met a lot of people. Although that was fun, I truly miss tumblr and writing.

I definitely had more time to explore my hobbies in quarantine, and I loved that, but I am also grateful to be back at college too. Regarding this ask, I truly do understand exactly what you said; I really couldn't have worded it out better.

I want to tell you that it is okay to sometimes go through it. I understand that there's some frustration that comes from the ideas and creativity being there but, for some reason, your brain doesn't seem to able to translate them into words.

I feel like a big part of why we get so stuck on such writing blocks is not because of the block itself but what it awakens in us —guilt, frustration, comparison with other authors, sadness and even nostalgia, from all those times we were able to write easily and smoothly. Once we reflect about them and conquer those negative feelings that a writer's block may arise in us, things will start to get better.

It is okay to struggle writing, even if we didn't before. It is okay to take some time off —that one shouldn't feel guilty or pressured to post something out there. It is okay to put a hold on a few hobbies we once enjoyed so much, because we are constantly changing and not all things will remain the same forever.

It is okay to take your time! But always prioritize yourself, thoughts and preferences first. If you'd like to continue trying, writing and posting stuff, that is awesome! If you decide to step back for a bit, take some time off and come back when you feel a lot more at ease here, that is awesome too! Feel like i'm talking too much, and I do kind of struggle explaining things in english lmao! But I just want to send you a big hug and to tell you that it is alright, that some of these writing blocks can last from one week to months, but that they don't change how good of a writer you are, and how creative and special are the things you have been posting since you got here!

I hope you can find tranquility soon and be able to start writing again. Remember, always start small! Don't overwork yourself and be kind with your art; if 300 words is all you can do in one day, then we can try to go for another 300 the next day. And so on.

i’ve had a lot of negative feelings surrounding my writing and just . the act of writing in general. i think that these negative thoughts and feelings that have been stuck to me almost taint the act of writing if that makes sense? and usually i’m able to write through it only this time i can’t which adds more negativity bc i’m really hard on myself if i can’t do something with as much skill as i used to.

and you’re right! we are constantly changing and if anything, i believe that my writing should change with me. and perhaps i just haven’t accepted that change yet. i do want to continue writing! but maybe right now isn’t the best for me? i dunno but i’m gonna start small, take my time, and not push myself too much.
