Something a bit different by, I think, most people's standards today with an album centered around sampling. Historically I have been pretty anti-sampling but have in the past few years realized its artistic value a bit more, so I was looking forward to this. Hadn't heard the band at all until a few days ago when Two Hearts in 3/4 Time was linked somewhere and I took a listen. At that point I was already considering listening to an album by the Avalanches, but this cemented the deal.
Definitely enjoyed this, though it took some getting used to. It's honestly incredibly impressive just thinking about what went into this album, and it resulted in this really remarkable final product. What struck me was how cohesive this album was as a whole despite using samples so heavily. As someone who knows little about actually making music, that strikes me as difficult, but then what do I know? At any rate, a great album, though again loses some points because I really wouldn't play these tracks individually much at all, and some of them I straight up wouldn't enjoy in that fashion. As an album, though, it's fantastic. Tracks (or maybe portions?) I enjoyed the most included Stay Another Season, Two Hearts in 3/4 Time, and Frontier Psychiatrist.

i want to make one thing very, very fucking clear about my take on ai art. i think it’s ugly, boring, and not advanced enough to do anything actually interesting or subversive. i like my drawing tablet, and coming up with fun little stories in my head, and have no plans to use ai anytime soon.
but I do care about collage, found art, photo montage, parody, music sampling, fanart, and fanfic the theft narrative is going to affect. these are real artists passionate about their craft, who put a lot of work, love, and care into what they make. no less than the illustrators and digital artists who are (largely) spearheading this movement.
fair use is fragile enough already. toying with copyright law is bringing a fucking nuke to a knife fight. if a bunch of art forms get killed off because y’all couldn’t get their priorities straight, if visual art and writing become as restrictive and soul sucking as the record industry, if “art styles” become valid grounds for a lawsuit, i’ll never forgive you.
you’re not sticking it to the corporations by simping for copyright law. you’re just switching from one boot for another, even more harmful boot

#i went to a family party#all my cousins were there with they partners#even my brother that travel with us brings his partner#and of course they asked. how could they not?#i wanted to say half the truth to not fully lie by saying “oh she could not come” but they sure are hard to please with vage answers#and so i was forced to said “because she is my partner no longer”#the avalanche of questions was more of what i could handle emotionally and started crying#it has being a little more than a month since the separation and now all my cousins are saying “you will find someone else”#motherfucker i am grieving in here! my romantic relationship are long-term. there is not a way i can heal and forget in so little time#i wanted to marry her!!! for fuck sake#“she is going to regret and came back / in the future she may come back”#it was a one-side breakup. by her decision. and she had a crush who wanted to be intimate with#do you believe she will be back before doing something with him? i would not be so hopeful. I had rules to precisely avoid this#“you worth it” if i am. the ones i loved the most would not have left for someone else. it happend twice#i yearn for the day someone loves me and likes me for what i am without having eyes for anybody else. I know is possible because i do that#just want someone apply the same to me

They're a group of samplers who made probably my favorite album ever (Since I letti you) and listening to them actually helped me overcome a lot of negative feelings and gave me Hope for the future.

#anyway i continue to Lavellan post because i did some stuff and I'm tired now anyway. thinking about the beginning of the game and#how he's mostly leaning into the herald bullshit because he thinks it'll help him belong here and make people like him and how#devastatingly it's going to hit him after in your heart shall burn (I'm basically leaning into it as much as#possible without establishing him as faithful since it's more difficult to make Leliana pope that way but in my head#he took every 'yeah I'm herald I'm heralding so much andraste right now' option besides one with cass and one with Leliana)#like. he doesn't even really believe it but most people either like hearing it or if they react negatively it's in a way that still#acknowledges him as in charge so he'll roll with that. but then. everything in YHTB happens and it's just like. Oh.
