every single rp i’ve ever been in has made it’s own impacts on me, the people i’ve talked to, the amazing community and friends, the inspirational writing, the time spent talking about fandoms and ocs and everything in between.

i’ve been rping for over half a decade now ( a decade? i think, time and memory r both hard ), and, can you believe it, it started at hexrpg. i remember trying so many threads but there was this one narcissa rper who i shared a thread with ( i was playing lucius, seventh year hogwarts, enemies to romance lovers arc thing ), and they were so encouraging and i remember being blown away by their talent. they gave me a piece of advice that has still stuck with me - write an emotional response to their para, then a physical, then an emotional response to your own actions, and make sure that you give them something to respond to - whether ic or world things. Easy guaranteed three paragraphs. I still go through that advice any time I struggle with a reply. Whoever you are, know that I owe you my life.

Actually, time is hard, so the first rp may have been a superwhoavengerlock chatzy rp? the - group of excellent moffats? i just got hit by seven different waves of cringe and nostalgia, but i was there for at least a year and that was the first time that i made friends online. i was playing capn jack harkness, and got to explore the possibilities of non-straight sexualities, group rp, had this one lady ( who played??? thor’s mom? ) talk me through one of my first major panic attacks, i learnt to write really fast ( open chatzy channel with seven active players u had to be fast and still get a decent reply in, it was a fun challenge ). again, i owe so much to them.

then @somnacin introduced me to tumblr rp ( during a snow day from school GOD what a throwback ), and i lingered in the hp fandom for a while, getting better at writing ( i built a whole radio ep for one muse - glenda, who was a radio host, i should try and find that ), tilden still has a place in my heart, every narcissa i’ve played a lucius against has been incredible, dani (??? im bad at names im sorry) who i played remus against their sirius and i still remember planning the star wars prank for the dash.

then my first foray out was diverona, and i had the time of my life playing cassian. then worthfightingfor - victoria, if you’re out there, thank you for one of the most memorable rps. i took a six month hiatus for my gap year and couldn’t wait to come back every moment. i love leverage, but i also adored all the different mechanics and event methods, especially the ongoing heists and tasks.

then came the shift from skype to discord, and all the rps and incredible writers i’ve had the honor of writing with since. menagerie, millennium, arcana, behindsanity, highcourt, colloportus, and currently, terror. every single one brought something unique and incredible to the table and truly helped me grow.

MARCUS OLLIVANDER is TWENTY-FOUR YEARS OLD and an ASSISTANT WANDMAKER for OLLIVANDERS in DIAGON ALLEY. He looks remarkably like ISRAEL BROUSSARD and considers himself aligned with THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. He is currently OPEN. 

→ OVERVIEW:

Born nine years after his sister ROSE it was safe to say that Marcus was not planned, despite this fact however his parents BEATRICE and GARRICK OLLIVANDER took the surprise in their strides and loved him whole-heartedly. Since he could remember Rose was always away at school and so he got the attention of both of his parents completely, except for the holidays which were always too filled with joy and happiness to ever notice he had to share them. Because of the age difference Marcus and his sister lived separate lives, she would spend time with her school friends whenever she was home and her lack of interest never really bothered him, he knew she loved him and would be there if he needed it and that was enough for him. The Ollivanders lived in a flat above their shop in Diagon Alley that had been undetectably extended more times than Marcus could count. Although Marcus was a social boy he also loved time alone, and his favourite place to go when he needed his own space was in his fathers workshop, he was enamored by the raw magic that was down there, half-made wands on every surface and jars filling every wall with their magical cores within. When his father wasn't looking he would pick up the wands and feel the life within them, testing every single one that was made to figure out which type he would get by the time his letter arrived and he could get his own. 

It was pretty obvious that Rose was interested in another path in life, and so on his seventh birthday his father took him down to the workshop and told him he was going to be his assistant. After that Marcus never needed to sneak downstairs, for he was always welcomed by his father with another lesson to be taught, he learnt all about wand lore and how exactly the wands go about choosing the wizard, and the day he made his very first wand, under the watchful eyes of Garrick of course, he was taken to Florean Fortescue's where he was told to order whatever he liked. Whilst his father was talking to the ice-cream parlor’s owner Marcus noticed a table in the window that was full of children his age, plucking up all his available courage he asked if he could sit, a girl slightly younger than himself looked up with a beaming smile and invited him to. That day he met PANDORA and PHAEDRA FORTESCUE and CELESTE, ELINOR and PARKER POTAGE and was tied to each of their hips from that day on. The group spent their days in the alleys, splitting their time evenly between the ice cream parlor, sitting by the fountain in Carkitt Market and looking at everything they would buy and take with them to Hogwarts in Gambol and Japes joke shop. As the years went on their group slowly dwindled, each getting their letter they would leave the alleys and head to school, when it was Marcus’ turn he was nervous but excited, the excitement only heightening when his father handed him a wand box with the most beautifully engraved wand he had ever seen, he plucked it out of its box and the world around him felt right, it would seem that his father had been watching each time Marcus had picked a wand up in the past and had created the perfect one for him to go off to school with. 

Setting off for Hogwarts was the first time Marcus had felt truly alone, his parents weren't there to ease his fears nor were his friends there to pry a laugh out of him. Adamant to make friends and make them quickly he looked through the carriages until he came across one with a singular girl that had worry etched across her face. Glad to see his inner turmoil so easily expressed upon this girl's features he marched into the compartment with the intention of making them both feel better. ROWENA ROWLE was a lovely girl and the pair spent the entire journey discussing Hogwarts. Being sorted into Hufflepuff with Rowena was the perfect place for him, he soon fit in with a group of his own, keeping his friendship with Rowena just between the two of them. RUFUS BELBY, SAMARA CLEARWATER and TIMOTHY VANE made excellent friends and studying companions, the four Hufflepuffs could often be found hold up in their corner of the library with piles of books surrounding them. Samara and Marcus especially would go well into the evening sitting with each other reading, Marcus wanted to read everything Hogwarts had to offer on wand lore to impress his father when he went home and Samara, a Muggle-Born witch wanted to know everything about the magical world, often spouting the most random and obscure questions at Marcus for him to answer. 

Throughout his years in Hogwarts Marcus took an increasingly large interest in Quidditch, and in his fourth year he applied for the position of chaser which he got. Through Quidditch he met EDGAR BONES a fellow teammate who then introduced him to his own misfit group SAOIRSE MACMILLIAN, AUGUSTUS ABBOTT, TILDEN TOOTS, EVE DIGGORY and SYBIL TRELAWNEY. Marcus had never felt more at home than he had in the Hufflepuff common room surrounded by his closest friends, and when the position of Head boy came into question he was told by all of them that he was a shoe in. When not with his new teammates and their friends you could still find him with Samara in the Library, their friendship never wavering they slowly but surely fell in to a relationship, hugs turned in to hand holding, hand holding turned in to stolen kisses and soon they had asked themselves why it had taken them this long to be together. His final years at Hogwarts he spent studying for exams, fulfilling his prefect duties and trying to juggle his down time between his two favourite girls, the only problem he seemed to have was that they didn't see eye to eye, Samara prone to jealousy whenever he spent time with Rowena. 

Leaving school with exceptional grades and a head boy's badge to boot there was no question about his future plans, working in his fathers shop as an assistant his life fell into place. Wanting to move out of the family home but not yet ready to move in with Samara he rented a flat above a shop in Carkitt Market with Rowena and Celeste after he introduced the pair and they hit it off. Sadly the move did not sit well with everyone, Samara having fits of jealousy whenever Marcus mentioned Rowena, and now that he lived with Celeste she also became untrusting of her too. The move meant the end of their relationship, sad as Marcus was about it he couldn't be with someone who didn't trust him. To distract from the pain of the break-up Marcus spent most of his weekends with his old Hufflepuff Quidditch team, playing friendly matches and then hitting the pub. Although Marcus would like to blame it on the adrenaline from the game or the three too many butterbeers he drinks afterwards he has started to develop a crush on Edgar, finding him a lot more dashing in his Quidditch uniform than he ever had at school. Spending more and more time with Edgar has led the boy to open up about other areas of his life, and once realising he could trust Marcus completely he introduced him to ALASTOR MOODY who spoke about the Order of the Phoenix. Until then Marcus had it would seem to have been living under a rock, he had seen no signs of a war brewing but after being told about it he couldn't stand by and allow this injustice to continue. 

Joining the Order meant having his eyes open to all the horrible things going on in the world, it also meant that he was gaining a better idea of what sort of people were joining the forces of the dark-side. After realising that Rowena was spending a considerable amount of time with her cousin and his friends, who were suspected members Marcus and Celeste, another member of the Order, spent many evenings worried and waiting up for the girl. Vowing to do all that they could for their mis-lead friend they spoke in length about their predicament and decided to slowly bring her over to the light, the pair taking on their own mission of slowly persuading her to join the Order. At present the Order had given him their own task to complete, he was to work with an older member PATRICIA RAKEPICK to pool together a list of known Death Eaters, she had asked him to spend his spare time listening in to conversations and also making a list of all known wands that were owned by suspected members to allow for the Order to put illegal tracking upon the wands in question, making it much easier to solve certain crimes and cases that are currently left open.

Mid July. When the hell was mid July?

Anytime between July 10th and July 20th, she and Beth had agreed glumly. And that’s if the owl post wasn’t delayed, or there wasn’t some sort of issue at the Ministry to hold everything up. Another bloody attack, or something. This was the worst.

Well, not literally. Daisy had been through much worse than having to wait for her exam results. But that didn’t change the fact that the waiting was bloody awful. Every morning she was filled with nerves as she sat at the breakfast table, waiting for the post. She wanted to be there when it arrived, didn’t want her dad or Anna to see the letter before she did. Not that she was going to open it in front of them- the second it arrived, she would be racing back up to her room.

She hadn’t been this stressed about her OWLs, she thought crossly, as she poured herself a bowl of cereal. But then, she’d not had to teach herself half of the curriculum. She’d been a good student in fifth year and had been pretty well prepared. Her NEWTs, on the other hand, could go any way.

A tapping at the window made her jump to her feet, inadvertently knocking her bowl over and spilling milk everywhere. She didn’t notice though, too busy dashing across the kitchen and flinging open the window. It was probably just the regular post, it was only July 12th, her results were probably still days away…

But when the owl flew through the window and deposited the letter on the breakfast bar, it was most definitely not just the regular post. Her name was penned across the top, and there was the Hogwarts crest, and that meant…

She stared at the letter as the owl swooped out the window again, momentarily paralysed. Then she took a step toward it. While a part of her would probably have been happier just not to know, a larger part wanted to be put out of its misery. If she’d failed everything— well, it was too bloody late to do anything about that. Besides, she was alone in the kitchen right now; better to read it right this second, before she wound up having to find out her results in front of her family. She ripped the envelope apart, holding the parchment out in front of her. Her eyes scanned passed the address and greetings at the top of the letter, going straight for the important information.

It took her a few minutes to figure out what she was reading. She’d passed… almost everything. Some things she’d passed well. And she’d even passed Potions! That fact made her rather giddy with delight— she had not been looking forward to having to tell Tilden she’d failed. Not that he would have been judgey about it or anything, but he was so brilliant at the subject, it would have just been embarrassing.

Dark curls rustled around her face as Katrina made her way down the street, cloak secured around her, hand near her wand at all time. There was nothing to say she would need it, of course. But she knew it was always better to be prepared than to regret it later. Winter was brutal, no matter how lucky London had been to recover from the storms. 

Her sneakers slapped against the pavement with every step she took, offering something to focus on with each stride. She walked with a purpose, knowing exactly where she was going, keeping her head down. It was a force of habit, by now, when walking the streets– residual from years past, built upon from old fears returning in recent days.

Arriving at her destination, Katrina tugged the door open, a bell chiming welcome as she entered. The inside of the shop reminded her very much of the greenhouses of Hogwarts. Warm, with the distinct smell of mulch that Katrina had long since come to terms with, that could never be covered. Glancing around, she suddenly felt incredibly self conscious; she had been fine in Herbology, during her school days– but that had been years ago. Looking around now, she was distinctly aware of the way in which she seemed to awkwardly be standing in the stop, suddenly feeling very unsure of herself.

On a Windy Afternoon ~ Charity & Daisy ~ July 3th 1980

Daisy was not the most patient person at the best of times, and this was certainly not that. The wait for her exam results was driving her mad. A few weeks ago, when NEWTs had finished, she’d thought that she’d done alright, but the more time that passed, the more certain she was that she had failed literally everything.

So she was staying out of the house and trying to keep busy and distracted. She’d spent the last couple of days visiting Beth, where they’d chatted and sunbathed and very resolutely not discussed their exams. This morning, she’d spent a few hours doing a very exhaustive deep-clean of her room, but that had taken much less time than she’d hoped and she’d not known how to fill the rest of her day. So she’d decided to come and visit Tilden at work. It was nearing lunch time, so hopefully she’d catch him on his lunch break; if not, she’d just hope that his boss wouldn’t mind if she hung around for a bit.

She Apparated onto a quiet side street in Hogsmeade, and instantly grimaced; it was cloudy and verging on rain here, where it had been sunny, actually sunny in London. A breeze caught hold of her hair and tossed it round her head, and she grabbed at it quickly, twisting it around one shoulder in an attempt to keep it under control. She slipped out onto the main street, planning to head directly to the shop, but a familiar face across the street caught her attention. It took her a moment to recognize the witch as the newcomer at the last Order meeting.

Pausing in her tracks, Daisy turned to watch the woman. She’d been curious about the newcomer as soon as she’d spotted her at the meeting, and odds were that she would have made a point of introducing herself once the meeting was over. Of course, everything that had happened had quite driven such thoughts from her head. She’d been much too busy worrying about Marlene and Moody to spare another thought for the stranger.

Now that she was right in front of her, of course, Daisy’s determination to meet her returned in full force. Rather abruptly, Daisy changed her course, in the process nearly colliding with a little old witch laden down with shopping bags. “Oops, sorry,” she apologized absent-mindedly, her attention on catching up with the witch as she dashed across the road. “Wait!” she called, trying to catch up to the older witch. She didn’t have the faintest idea what her name was; it was possible she’d heard it that night, but if so, she didn’t remember. “Excuse me!”
