GAMES: Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Hyrule Warriors DIRECTORY: Height ref, #character tag

A young wanderer who has little to say to others and less to say about himself. Though generally obliging, he avoids meaningful connection and maintains a strict, careful distance with strangers and friends alike. Used to the lonely weight of being the Hero of Time who won't be remembered and hyper-independent for it, he often goes his own way.

WEAPON: Gilded Sword and Mirror Shield. Ever since a particular incident post-Termina, he's taken a hard stance against the two-handed power of the Great Fairy's Sword and has returned to preferring the versatility of one-handed offense and defense. Trains regularly and thoroughly — very much so gives the older party members a run for their money.

GEAR: Traveller must-haves. Beyond the equipment acquired over his adventures and those generally necessary for life on the road, Grasshopper carries a set of wood whittling knives, a sewing kit, and more seasonings than any of the party would expect. His transformation masks are kept well-guarded mysteries and he still has the Ocarina of Time.

SKILL: Magic user. Raised in Kokiri Forest, Grasshopper has a well of natural magic he can make use of directly (as with cast spells, runes, and usage of catalysts) and indirectly (as through inherent resistance, direction, and sensitivity). He's added to his repertoire of spells since last learning Din's Fire, Nayru's Love, and Farore's Wind.

SKILL: Transformation. With his masks, he can turn into four additional forms — a Deku Scrub, a Goron, a Zora, and the Fierce Deity. While helpful, continuous usage is taxing on his mental livelihood, as these masks can exacerbate his sense of depersonalisation, identity issues, and are never truly painless to put on. (Sometimes, they're just as painful to take off.)

LANGUAGES & COMMUNICATION: Hard of hearing. He understands Kokiri, Hylian (Old and Modern Syllabaries), Terminian, conversational Common, Goron, and Zoran, and a limited amount of his era's Hylian Sign Language. As with some of the others, in this alternate Hyrule, he's mostly counting on Patches' interpreting services. Situationally non-speaking and functionally illiterate, he tends to use body language and gestures to communicate.

As Mikau, he fully understands Zoran (Great Bay dialect). As Darmani, they fully understand Goron (Snowhead dialect).

He'll occasionally draw in his notebook if he feels there's a thought that needs to be understood.

There are very few people he's okay with speaking in front of. "Other Links" are currently not included.

SECRETS: Not that he's the only one with them, but Grasshopper is so defined by what he won't share that his secrets perhaps stand out the most amongst the party. Even Sailor — who arguably knows him best — can (or will) barely comment on anything beyond the Fierce Deity Mask, an injury that seems to have miraculously healed, and his competence as a lone traveller.

PERSONAL TIMELINE: Went through the events of Ocarina of Time when he was nine-years-old, Majora's Mask when he was ten-years-old, and Hyrule Warriors when he was twelve-years old. Or so he would say. He doesn't know nor think about how old he is (or how old he's supposed to be). It's been at least a year since.

NICKNAME ORIGIN: Given by Romani, from his time in Termina. It's the only nickname out of the many he has that he's okay with the general public calling him. Cori signs this as is ("grasshopper"). Patches, Knight, and Linh fingerspell (alphabetically, "G-r-a-s-s-h-o-p-p-e-r").

GAME: Spirit Tracks DIRECTORY: Height ref, #character tag

The youngest Royal Engineer New Hyrule has ever granted a graduation to, so he's kind of a prodigy when it comes to steam locomotives. This would be helpful — if only this weird Hyrule had any (he supposes he'll have to make do with these Zonai and Sheikah thingamajigs). Something of a stickler for respecting rules, boundaries, promises, and doing things by the book. The type who has trouble saying 'no'.

WEAPON: Came weaponless in the traditional sense. He's never had a taste for swordfighting despite his natural talent for it, so his sword and shield are usually left back at home with Niko when he's on duty. He brought everything else from his world-saving journey with Zelda though — he likes to handle foes with the whip and bow.

GEAR: Engineer must-haves. In addition to the occupational essentials, his items speak of a surprisingly careful youth. Several maps, a well-thumbed notebook, and two graphite pencils (complete with kneaded eraser) help bolster his memory; regularly washed handkerchiefs are always kept on hand to wipe off sweat, oil, and soot; miscellanea are organised safely in his pouch. Since he came with half his train, he has an emergency tool-chest available for its maintenance.

SKILL: Train engineer. Fully trained, educated, and officially recognised, Linh is an expert on the usage and upkeep of steam locomotives; they've been trying to see if any of their knowledge might apply to Zonai or Sheikah devices as well. The job's demands have also shaped their general conduct, in that they're a great multitasker and pay more attention to detail than their age would suggest.

SKILL: Spirit sight. Perhaps due to his Komo lineage, he can perceive the otherworldly without needing specialised magic or an enchanted item. This includes spirits, deities, auras if they're particularly bright, and right through some veiling spells if he concentrates hard enough.

LANGUAGES & COMMUNICATION: Hearing. He understands Hylian (Modern Syllabary), conversational Anouki and Goron, and limited Komo. Struggles with the Hylian commonly spoken in this Hyrule he's landed in, so he's among the heroes relying on Patches for interpretation at the moment. Non-speaking, he typically uses his era's Hylian Sign Language to communicate.

Has a whistle for train conducting; this is his go-to method for grabbing attention. It's had the unfortunate side effect of encouraging Cori to try stealing it off of him.

Fully literate, so he'll write in his notebook when faced with someone who doesn't know HSL.

KOMO LINEAGE: Born half-Hylian and half-Komo — of whom are a portion of the Indigenous Peoples of New Hyrule. He has smaller ears and more spiritual (rather than magical) ability than the rest of the party because of this. While not a complete stranger to Komo customs or knowledge, he was raised by Niko from a young age, so he's more familiar with Hylian culture.

Named Linh at birth, given "Link" when taken in by Niko due to the language barrier at the time.

     These aren’t his hands.

     Staring down at them, at the way the fingers flex, at the way the coverings stretch over the skin, the thought pierces through him again.

     These aren’t his hands.

     He’s a child of the forest. Kokiri, even without a fairy — Kokiri, now that he has Navi. He may be special, but this isn’t— he’s not supposed to be big. He’s not supposed to be grown up. These— these aren’t—

     The hands clench, shaking. The leather warps against them. Seven years. Seven years.

     When he leaves the Sacred Realm, blinking back into the Temple of Time, the first place he is told to save is home. The first person he is told to help is a good friend. There are more instructions, some needed item at Kakariko Village, and he listens — as he always does.

     The ocarina is smaller in these hands. He swears the sound, as he blows, is different. He plays Saria's Song to hear her voice, and it's the same high, gentle pitch he remembers; it's the same Saria he heard yesterday, seven years ago.

     Help me, she pleads. Help me, Link!

     He goes: the path set for him. No distractions this time. He does everything right: runs straight to Kakariko, finds hints, chases a gravekeeper's spirit, gets the hookshot.

     He steps into Kokiri Forest at the wrong height.

     Everything is too small. Everyone is too short. They call him mister 'cause they don't recognise him, 'cause he can't be recognised. They talk about Link like that isn't him, and maybe they're right for it.

     ( Don't I know you from somewhere, mister?

     No.

     What other choice is there? )

     He gets rid of the monsters. He asks about Saria. He passes by his house once, twice, and on the third time, stops in all his pacing to look at it. The chalk drawing by the roots hasn't faded. His sign is still there. The curtain has been drawn shut, just as he left it days ago.

     Seven years ago.

     "Are you tired, Link?" Navi asks.

     He climbs the ladder with a body too big for its steps.

     The first thing he notices as he enters is the open window. He must've forgotten to close it. There are leaves scattered by and on his bed, bugs that've settled in his absence, and the blanket has turned a weird yellow. It's a mess. Just as it was beyond the entryway behind him, everything is too small.

     Long legs awkwardly bang on the frame as he dusts his bed off and climbs in. He's not sure where to put everything as he lies down, curled and cramped for the first time in his life here — for the first time his home has ever forced him to be. He can't even rest on his front. Can't even sleep the way he likes. He bunches himself up on his side and squeezes his eyes shut. Navi says something about it looking uncomfortable.

     He doesn't move. The blanket, beneath those hands that aren't his, feels the same as it did the last time he was here, and it's the truth he doesn't want to admit.

     Everything is too small — 'cause everything is the same.

     Everything is the same but him.

     Everything is the same but him.

     He hiccups over a breath that has Navi's warmth fluttering to his forehead, and pretends he can hear more than the quiet of a home that's no longer his.

PSA ! Because I've seen it be brought up in YouTube videos, in the comments section on Itch, and in quite a few asks on Tumblr... Here are some common misconceptions about "14 Days With You" that I'd like to clear up!

14 Days With You is not an otome game; it's an amare game!! The main character (Angel) is not a female heroine/female protagonist, and they're not written to be female-coded. Yes, you have the option to customise your pronouns and how others perceive you, but there is no "default" or fixed narrative perspective for 14DWY (outside of a gender-neutral perspective).

If it isn't already obvious, Ren's characterisation heavily leans into the "dere" aspect of a yandere. He genuinely loves Angel... Just to a terrifying degree.

None of the cast members are heterosexual, so please don't assume that all of Teo's exes/flings were women, that Leon has only had girlfriends in the past, that Olivia is only attracted to good-looking men, etc. In a similar vein, I want to remind everyone that Jae-Hyun is gay and Kiara is a lesbian.

14DWY is also a romance game!! The whole point is to get to know Ren, grow closer with him, and ultimately romance him. So please stop asking me to include BTD, TDDUP, or W1WD mechanics in the game. It's completely fine if you like those types of genres — and I'm not here to yuck anyone's yum — but it's not the vibe I'm going for with 14DWY, and it's not something I want to write about.

Similarly... Violet, Jae, Moth, and Teo all dye their hair as well. But I'm happy if folks want to headcanon that "unnatural" hair colours can exist in the 14DWY universe.

Ren does not have DID or BPD. He's merely a desperate yandere who changes aspects of himself + creates different "personas" to appease Angel (and essentially become their ideal type). He definitely has a pessimistic outlook on his real self, though he does not identify or feel genuine in any of his created personas. I'm comfortable for those who have DID/BPD/etc to headcanon Ren as such, but I heavily discourage everyone else from doing so as I don't want to give them an incorrect or bad reputation.

The 18+ scenes are optional!!!!! The game is intended to be played without them — it's even turned off by default. Nobody is forced to sleep with Ren.

14 Days With You is a passion project that I work on in my free time for fun. I'm not making a profit off of it, I'm not looking to turn it into a career, and in the most /pos way possible; it's not important enough for me to make a priority. So... Please stop guilt-tripping me for updates when I already don't have enough time or luxury to work on it ;v;
