She had unblinkingly stared down him until he woke up, only to proclaim, with misty eyes, that she'd accept him as her best friend forever. Inhye watched as the ballerina posed to perfection. From the very tips of her fingers to her chin, down to her pointed toes, it appeared as though not a fraction of her was out of place. Chiyo was stunning. Inhye couldn't help but let her eyes travel across her form with an awe and envy that she had long since thought she'd relinquished. Sure, shooting brides constantly gave her a feeling of pride and perhaps longing. But there was something so striking about the way an athlete carried themselves. Something that made Inhye's chest pull tight. It was a beauty she'd left on the ice long ago.

"That's it, good," she said appreciatively, the practiced encouragement coming with ease and shaking her from her reverie. A flash, illuminating the entire space from a millisecond. Shadows fell and faded in one instant. Stepping back briefly, Inhye leaned into her own pose again. This time she crouched low and extended her own foot to capture an angle that gave Chiyo the high ground, the power.

When she'd offered to take Chiyo's professional shots, she'd wondered whether she might be up to the task. Now, it was silly that she'd even considered possible failure. Chiyo made this as easy as breathing. "How long have you been studying ballet for Chiyo?" she asked, hoping to relax the other woman even more. "You look like you could do this in your sleep!"

The elevator always felt like it crawled its way down the building when she had all her equipment with her. Inhye blew out a frustrated sigh. Her camera bag, haphazardly strewn across her shoulder, was starting to dig in already.

As if sensing that she was ready to give it all up and turn back to her apartment, the elevator doors opened. Their parting slowly revealed the sight of a man preparing for a funeral. Inhye schooled her expression into one of complete composure. She smiled at him, sparing a quick glance at the unfortunate looking plant life in his arms. Well... plant life wasn't exactly an accurate assessment. There was no life there at all.

Taking her place beside him, the elevator resumed its descent behind closed doors. She looked at him again, this time accidentally meeting his guilty gaze. She couldn't help the laugh that spluttered out.

"Laying them to rest again?" she asked casually, returning her sight to the doors and biting her lip to avoid another laugh. The last thing she wanted was to appear rude in his time of mourning.

Little Women : Initial Thoughts

Back in school we had one class of English language dedicated to ‘classics reading’. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott was a compulsory read. While I appreciated the characters, the story, the author’s own background and the time period it was set in, it never really was a book I revisited or watched all adaptations of it. It was another book I read, it was nice one time read. I get the popularity but it’s no where on my top favourites or recommend list or reread list.

When the Korean drama was announced as an adaptation/ inspired by this novel, I was intrigued. There are a whole lot of wonderful coming of age or slice of life Kdramas, so what was the writer trying to achieve with this adaptation set in Korea. I haven’t seen Handmaiden (by the same writer), but had heard about it ; I had seen Vincenzo (by the same director) and therefore, half expected that this series wouldn’t be anything like the book or its movie adaptations.

What I didn’t expect is how dark and sinister the whole feel and theme of the drama would be and how much I would be hooked to it from the word go. If you know me even a little bit on social media - my twitter, my tumblr, my podcast - you know I adore Nam Ji Hyun and I watch everything she stars in. I knew she wouldn’t disappoint me.

This drama has started on a great high - I love how flawed, frustrated, angry, naive and foolish these 3 sisters are.

In Joo’s greed for money, or can we even call it greed when she has only known poverty all her life and wants to spend the money she has found by sheer luck bestowed on her by her senior colleague who has embezzled it. InJoo’s naivety frustrates me in how she goes about carrying that bag of money all over, how she trusts anyone blindly who approaches her (signing documents without seeing - oh dear InJoo what on earth , who does that!), how she is unfiltered in terms of keeping things from strangers, but how guarded she is when it comes to protecting her two sisters.

Oh InKyung - first let me get it out of the way how gorgeous Nam Ji Hyun looks in this series. I love how principled and careless she is at the same time - who keeps liquor at her work drawer unlocked, who approaches the next mayoral candidate’s home with such brazenness, who is not afraid to turn on her sister in if she crosses over to the wrong path. That’s InKyung and yes, who is completely oblivious to her childhood’s friend’s feelings.

OhInhye - Everyone is hating on her for her selfishness. But that’s not selfishness, she is burdened by the fact that she is a burden for her sisters or worse unwanted by her parents. That’s an awful feeling to live with. I love how confident she is about her talent, about the potential she has to be a great artist, she is not delusional - she is confident she can become the biggest artist if she gets her opportunity. The biggest conflict for her is that her poverty may come in way of that opportunity and so she wants to grab it with her both hands as fast as she can. She would rather pay the cost for it, than have her sisters pay for it.

All of them are grey and have a trigger that will tip them to the dark side - InJoo’s desperation for money, InKyung’s over zealousness, and InHye’s goals are going to drag them collectively into an abyss - now who does that first is what the drama will answer. How dirty their hands will get is what we as audience need to wait back and watch.

And then there are the other characters that are going to disrupt the lives of these sisters - primarily the politician who is the common thread linking these sisters’ problems, the wealthy aunt, the mysterious Mr Choi ( oh I don’t trust Wi Ja Hoon’s charcater at all - I couldn’t from the moment he came in) whose side is he really on? the politician’s wife and daughter - I have a feeling that the wife has a bigger role to play in the scheme of things, and Hwa Young the woman who has pushed InJoo into this vicious circle of money and greed isn’t really dead and probably wasn’t a well wisher (unlike what InJoo would like to believe ).

Reddit and Tumblr are running wild with theories, so is twitter and so is my head. We are not even midway into this drama and everyone is hooked. A drama needs a great story and hook - this one has nailed it. The drama is also breathtakingly beautiful with its gorgeous cinematography and sets. The decor and interiors and the contrast between how the rich live and the how poor live will leave you gasping and admiring the beauty of these scenes.

Kim Go Eun and Nam Ji Hyun are stealing the show - sorry but Wi Ja Hoon and Kang Hoon who? Personally, I don’t think these two guys match up to the acting prowess these two actresses are showing here. I couldn’t stand Kim Go Eun’s silly highschool senior act in Goblin, I love her here - her vulnerability is on point. She is stellar in scenes where she is grappling with fear and overwhelmed with all that is happening around her.

I have already praised Nam Ji Hyun enough - she keeps me glued to the screen to the point I don’t want to blink because I’m in total awe of her talent . She is to me amongst female actresses what Kim Seon Ho is amongst male actors. They are both the only two actors that have my full attention when they are on screen even if it is for a second, minute or hours. I love watching them excel at their skill.

I think Park JiHoo is very raw and I hope she improves with more dramas. I hope Oh Jung Se ‘s role wasn’t a cameo act - cause that man is brilliant in whatever he does! His scene with Kim Go Eun in the apartment sent chills down my spine! I hope he will come back in flashbacks.

I don’t have any theories at this stage - I want to enjoy this wild ride and my sole aim right now is to get more people to watch this drama - so I can discuss and theorise as we go along!

Here we are again my lovely muns! Another Christmas has drifted around, and it’s now almost been four years since I started writing Leo. That’s a crazy amount of time for me in the world of roleplay. Through each of those years, you guys have brought a smile to my face every day through your writing, muses and just being who you are. They’ve been some of the hardest years of my life but I’ve been lucky to have you all by my side. Truthfully, I’m not sure what’s going to happen next year. I start a new job in January and it’s going to suck up my time mercilessly. I don’t know how much I’ll be able to be around. But I will never leave. As long as I have a place to escape to here, I know I can get through things. I want to support everyone else just as much as you have supported me. I don’t know if I’ll ever find a way to accurately portray how much you all mean to me. Around Christmas, you’re supposed to spend time with the people you love. Even though that includes you guys for me, there are countless oceans and countries that get in the way. I’m not Santa sadly, so there’s no travelling by reindeer to see you all like I’d wish to. But at the very least, I want to reach across to you and give you all a hug with words.  To the beautiful muns that make this place my second home, I wish you all the happiness in the world this Christmas, and all the days following it. To quote Jung Leo himself: “Let’s see each other for a long time.”

Which is dumb really, considering I tell you nearly every day and holy crap, you must be so sick of it by now. But nothing changes, no matter how many times it’s said. It doesn’t lose its impact. It’s always true. Want to know I really random fact? The first time I went on to your blog, the post I saw first was one of strawberry and cream cake. Not only did that just make me adore you at first sight (I love strawberry and cream cake it’s my favourite cake ever) but it also made me associate you with it a little ^^ Perhaps it’s cuz you’re so sweet, or that now I always imagine Sooyeon and Leo baking together and feeding each other strawberries. Or maybe it’s just the fact that you’re the strawberries to my cream hehe~ One wouldn’t be here without the other. I’m so thankful to know you and to have our SooLeo.

☆ @numberxix I told you this a while ago but it’s still something I think about around this time of year. The day we first started talking was new years day, about two years ago now. What I didn’t tell you that much of was that I had had a really bad start to that year. I’d had a bit of a panic attack on the way home from seeing family. It was pretty much the worst first day of the year you could get. But then we started talking. You were one of my first reasons to smile that day. And it’s been like that for this entire year since. We have so many ships between our muses, romantic or friendship and I love every single one of them. Kyungri and Jaehwan will of course always be the first in my heart. But I can’t wait to see how they all develop. There are so many ideas we have, so many little scenarios and I wouldn’t want to share them with anyone else. 

☆ @instantlyiconic I can’t believe we only met a few months ago! It seems like so much longer. Thank you for bringing Minseok into Leo’s life, being like the warm cups of coffee he always offers him; energy and comfort. You are an amazing writer, I can’t say it enough because I won’t even stop saying it when you finally agree. These two will get closer with time and I can’t wait to see that happen.

When you first popped into my im’s saying you loved Seraphina too, I think I had a feeling then that we were going to get along just fine. Not only that, but I discovered a long lost twin! Perhaps she ends up proving to him that it’s true (this doesn’t need to lead them to reunite as a couple but perhaps friends) He could start spreading rumours which lead to her confronting him and it’s this whole enemy/hatred type plot between them Taken

(F) - Nari grew up believing she was straight until your muse came along. It started as what she thought was platonic admiration but in the end and after a drunken kiss at 18 she came to the realisation it wasn’t just men that she liked and she’d been living in denial. Everything got awkward after that night though whether it was because you’re muse was straight and just drunk so felt too awkward around Nari or maybe they were dealing with their own confusion. They meet several years later for a very awkward encounter

--- my heart hurts that i’ve removed some muses i’ve had ever since the start of this blog ( aka...all the way back to the original blog )...but they were inactive and it was just time to retire them.

muses i’ve removed are:

- tenka li - natashia - shion - pak sunhee - jeon jaeho - yoo sumi

threads involving any of these muses, i will continue to the end but i will no longer accept any more threads with them.

i’ve replaced these removed muses with:

- ko inhye, mortician - katsu, wizard
