Hello. I wanted to write something that would make me feel warm inside and I love Jim Halpert, so here I go. I hope it doesn't totally suck and if it does I'm sorry lol (and that includes apologies for grammar mistakes as well)

When the letters are like this it means some flashback coming your way.

When like this it means a little bit of emphasis, all right?.

“I just can’t understand why you won’t tell me, nothing is going to be more embarrassing than your ‘new kids on the block’ posters.”

His laugh wasn’t enough to create comfort with where the conversation was heading. This was what? The fifth time you asked him about it, adding with the second beer and a half going down his throat and it was getting harder to make him loosen up.

“Is it Meredith?”

You asked, playing a fool, but just like you knew the back of your hand you knew James Halpert and the way he behaved next to Pam, a huge flag he didn’t hide very well. You just wanted him to tell you. You wanted the confirmations pouring out of his lips, desperately.

“No, it is not Meredith. How is Luke by the way?” He quickly adds before you shot another question at him.

“Touché.” Your eyes roll slightly when Luke’s image burns into your brain, to play specifics, the moment when he told exactly why he was breaking up with you.

“What?” Jim asked, looking alarmed for a second and that’s because you haven’t told him yet, just like it took weeks before you could tell him you were seeing someone.

“It lasted longer than you and Katie, cheers.” You clinked your beer onto his and rested your back against the chair, waiting for the reaction with an open chest and he only licks his lips and raises an eyebrow, that’s it. The beer becomes more bitter on your tongue.

“Well you guys were dating way before I met Katie and it wasn't serious, also, I didn’t know there was an endurance competition going on here.”

“It was serious for her.” You implemented, and he sighed without anything else to respond. “I shouldn’t have come back with him on that Cruise, that was when the endurance competition really began and you lost immediately when you broke up with Miss Purse right away.”

“It was never going to work.”

Your eyes locked for a moment before he took another sip of the drink, that’s when you build up the courage.

“Because you are in love with Pam, right?”

Jim puts the drink down slowly while intensely looking at you. A fine needle pinned the center of your chest like his expression was a sort of voodoo work on you.

“What?” The confusion mixed on his face was louder than his question. It sounded like a whisper to himself more than for you.

Confusion mixed with amusement and amusement made the left corner of his mouth start to reveal a smile that progressively turned into laughing to the point of Jim incline his torso towards the table that separated both of you.

“Are you laughing because you admire the fact that I’m a genius or because you totally lost it for being in love with an engaged woman?”

Putting into a long sentence made you feel drunker than drinking alcohol.

He recovers his breath, covering both of his eyes with his hands before staring at you once more.

“I’m laughing because you think you are so smart but I will give you a chance to prove what you just said because I can’t miss this, please, please tell me, (Y/N). What makes you think I’m in love with Pam?”

He asked, still smiling, making all the confidence you had flinch.

“You laugh with her a lot. You talk to her a lot. You two keep whispering in the cafeteria together and you broke up with Katie right after Roy wanted to set up a date for their wedding, it adds up, Halpert, it adds up.”

You take a sip of the beer, needing it more than ever. His hazel eyes scanned your face going down to the table, a couple of seconds of silence was enough to make you regret everything that was said, but before you could make a joke or anything, anything else you could think of, he got up with a whole new body language.

“Well, sorry to disappoint, but it is not her.”

He takes his wallet out leaving money on the table as you tried to get back to a minute in the past.

“Jim, please, I’m sorry I shouldn’t have... It is not my business to ask, please don’t go.”

“No, don’t worry, I see you tomorrow okay?”

Taking the dark brown coat Jim makes his way out and disappears in the crowded bar of a Saturday night, but you didn’t think twice before grabbing your purse and also leave enough money on the table, rushing your way with ‘excuse me’ and ‘pardon me’ in the sea of bodies and strangers faces till you made it to the parking lot.

As always he was not too far from you and at the same time he was, but you always tried to catch up to him, you always do.

“Jim, wait.” You shout.

He looks behind to only give you a glance and keep walking towards the red Corolla. The guilt and slight anger started to mix at every step you got closer to him.

“JAMES.” You shouted again and this time he stops on his tracks.

“Why are you acting like this? I know that I messed up, but walking out like this was really necessary?”

Touching his left arms makes him turn to face you.

“Just drop the act, (y/n). You like that I’m doing this to you, in fact, you are thanking me right now, deep down you are.”

Luke’s right leg starts to shake slightly and you hated to notice.

“And why would I thank you for exactly?”

He moves closer to you on the couch, the brown eyes scanning your face, his cocky smile didn’t reach them this time.

“I’m not your rebound, (Y/NN). You seriously thought I wouldn’t notice?”

“What?”

“Please (Y/NN), it’s okay, we talk tomorrow.”

“I want to talk right now.”

“Please stop.”

“If it is not her than what's the problem? I know we got a little separated when I started going out with Luke. Our relationship, friendship got stranded. I just want to be able to talk about everything with you again. I don’t want to lose this...You. Us.”

“Get in the car.”

With no expression to read from him, you decided to obey instead of giving one more shot in the dark. There were no maybes, everything you thought you knew about James Halpert for the past 10 years was slipping out of your fingers like pressuring sand on your palms, you thought he couldn’t hide anything from you and you from him, that’s why you needed a Luke.

Closing the door and placing your bag on the lap you decided to only listen as you watched him taking his phone out of the glove compartment.

“I can believe you are going to make me do this in the parking lot of a bar.”

“I-.”

“Don’t.” He shut up quickly and continued. Suddenly you started to notice the little shakes on the hand he held the phone with. “If I drive i know I will make another excuse. Any stupid excuse I can think of.”

You kept quiet as he took a long breath.

“You are not completely wrong, there is something going on, but before I get into that. I just can’t understand, can’t wrap my head around the fact that you know me for 10 years and the best you could come up with was Pamela.”

“Sorr-.”

“Don’t.” He interrupts again. “(Y/N), I can’t begin to count how many times, for the past 3 years, I've been wide awake at 3 AM, trying to think why the hell I couldn’t just call her and get over with this, it doesn’t matter if her boyfriend picks up first, but actually, it did, it pretty much did, because she seemed happy without me, what kind of a fool would I be?.”

Your air gets stuck on your lungs for a bit before it starts burning and you had to let it go. Your brain trying to comprehend what was he said, trying to connect the dots while your stomach took turns in all directions.

“She feels like home to me. God, I love her and i think this is the right moment to do this.”

“Do what?” You asked feeling a sharp discomfort on your throat.

If your memories were a room where the proofs were well-hidden everything would be all over the place, was there someone you were forgetting about? Maybe, someone, he didn’t tell you.

“I’m calling her.”

Without thinking twice you slapped the phone out his hand making it fly to this feet into the darkness of the car’s floor.

“(Y/N), what the hell was that?”

“I... I have, I need to tell you something before you make that call. I- FUCK. Jim, want to know why Luke left me?”

Your insides shake like you had a cold fever, your cheeks getting hotter by the second. James rolled with eyes and rested his back on the seat without looking at you.

“Yeah, let’s talk about Luke, why not? What, do you still love him? Of course, you do, you only dated the guy for 3 years? It’s got to be a very strong bond there-.”

“He found out I was in love with you.”

The world seemed to get silent, you knew it was impossible, but why did it felt like it? Was it because he wouldn’t move or respond? Or was it you that would be silent forever? Since the only thing you wanted to say all these years was finally out of your brain, of your soul, leaving a void were once it occupied, a massive silent void. You left the car before something else took the space, something you knew it was inevitable.

Why did it felt like he was lying? All the times he spent with Pamela eating up your soul with every step further away from him, it was undeniable, they were like the same person, each day growing something while you tried to feed Luke into your brain, harder and harder.

When you reach the sidewalk your phone starts ringing insistently.

“Fuck.”

You curse, fighting with all of the other mess inside your purse in order to find the phone and once you do you answer it impulsively.

“Don’t hang up.”

You recognize his voice as your heart shrinks and you thought it was true, he could shrink till it becomes nothing inside.

“Don’t hang up because I have been wanting to do this for the past 3 years (Y/NN) and spent too many times wide awake thinking about this call. Why the hell did you get with Luke? Did you seriously not noticed? Not even once?”

“Seriously James? You got with Katie, you spent a hell lot of time with Pam, you are going to tell me you had feelings for me.”

You hear his heavy sigh.

“Well, you got with Luke and why is that obsession with Pam? She is engaged for God's sake.”

“You guys are like the same person. Also, she is engaged, not married.”

“You are right, we are very alike and she is smart, artsy, likes to pull pranks and have some amazing ideas-.”

“I’m going to hang up.”

“No, no, I’m just messing with you. See, Pam would’ve got that.”

“Are you done?”

“Just one more thing. She can be all of those things, but she is not you (Y/NN). I’m in love with you.”

Lifeguard, unexpected. (Part 2)

Once upon a time, I wrote a tiny piece about Lifeguard!Peeta, called Lifeguard, Unexpected . I might have written a part 2. Parts 3 & 4 could be in progress. (Because Real Lifeguard!Peeta had a haircut, and he is too cute for his own good, sooooo )

She could think of a dozen things she'd rather do. She could clean her house. Go for a run. Lie on her couch, binge watching The Handmaid’s Tale.

She could enjoy her holidays.

But no. She couldn't believe she had volunteered- volunteered!- to bring her niece to her swimming lessons every day for a fortnight.

On the mere hope she would see him again.

Him. The lifeguard she saw at the pool when she went with her niece’s class that Friday afternoon.

Him. Over whom she might have drooled a bit every time she thought of him.

Even during the night.

Mostly during the night.

Because the memory of the sun caressing his tanned skin did something to her she couldn't or rather didn't want to explain.

Him. Peeta. The one who brought back her hair tie. The one who suggested going for drinks, but who never contacted her after.

How could he ? She hadn’t given him her number, hadn’t had a chance to, having been called by the teacher to hop into the bus, never to return.

Well, she did come back to the pool, trying to find him lifeguarding. Unfortunately, she was always met only by Annie’s sweet smile, or Finnick’s wink. She never saw Peeta again.

Peeta. She was pretty sure her niece had the name wrong, when the little girl had started talking about the nice lifeguard who suggested she should get summer lessons to improve her swimming.

Hence Katniss’s presence on the side of the pool, as neither Gale or Madge could take their daughter to her lessons. Work, few remaining spots left, and Katniss volunteering, in the mere hopes of seeing him.

So far, not so good, though.

She had seen a complete range of lifeguards taking care of the different groups of kids.

But not the one she was looking for.

She wouldn’t admit she kept telling Claire to take her time changing, in the hope she would maybe see he was in charge of the next group.

“Bye Aunt Katniss!” shouted Claire, waving before turning to her friend, heading for the changing room.

Katniss sighed, grabbing her iPad to start re-reading The Gunslinger, to picture Idris Elba as Roland, and heading to her favourite seat near the large windows overlooking the pool, where parents gathered to watch over their precious ones.

She was quite certain she would never see that lifeguard again.

A few minutes later, Katniss saw Claire leaving the changing room, still giggling in her friend’s ear. She held her tablet up, and was snapping a quick picture for Gale and Madge when something caught the corner of her right eye.

There, coming out of the lifeguards’ room, a clipboard under his biceps, his Panem Aquatics Center tee shirt stretched across his torso, legs clad in a pair of navy blue shorts, was the man she’d been thinking of for days.

Scratch that.

Dreaming of.

For weeks.

She watched him approach the kids, calling their names one after the other. He paused as he called Claire’s name, then turned to look over his shoulder, scanning the crowd of parents.

His eyes landed on her.

She felt his gaze to her bones.

She couldn’t focus on her ipad, or on the lesson, or on Claire.

All she could see was a mop of blond hair, blue eyes shining.

All she could feel was his gaze on her.

Several times.

She had no clue what Claire did in the water. Only that the 45 minutes of lesson were a torture, as Peeta showed different moves to the kids - including making an arrow with his arms, that led his tee shirt to ride up his stomach.

Which elicited an audible gasp among the women sitting next to Katniss.

Katniss could remember very well the lines and planes of his chest, how the muscles moved under his golden skin.

She was pretty sure she gasped too.

He disappeared way too soon, once the kids were sent back to the changing room.

She sighed, and was forming plans to stay behind to try to see him, again, when she heard something.

“Family of Claire Hawthorne?” in a deep baritone voice.

It took Katniss all of two long seconds to realize she was the family of Claire.

And another long one to acknowledge Peeta was calling her.

“Yes?” she asked, not knowing why he was calling her, but still moving forwards, towards him. “Is there a problem?”

“Can you come inside the office, please?” the lifeguard asked, opening a door next to him marked “Employees only”. “I need to update you on Claire’s progress.”

Katniss entered the small office, filled with a lot of flutter boards, dumbbells, life jackets, and other implements to help kids stay afloat.

She turned to Peter, knowing fully well her signature scowl was on her face. She hoped everything was good with Claire -

“Are you Claire’s mother?” he asked closing the door behind him.

“No… I’m her aunt.. her father is my brother. Why? Has something happened to Claire?” Katniss started to panic, wondering what could have happened between the moment her niece left the pool and now - did she fall in the changing room? Had something else happened? How would she tell Madge and Gale?

“Nothing. I just wanted to make sure ….” he sighed, before holding out his hand to her. “I’m Peeta.”

“What happened to Claire? Why did you want to see me?” Katniss asked, crossing her arms in front of her chest, wondering what she was doing in this office, scratch that, in this closet with this man. Very attractive man. Who had dimples. And toned biceps.

Not that she was looking.

“We have unfinished business….”

They did?

“We do?” she asked, surprised. Could she hope he was talking about what she thought he was talking about?

“You never met me for drinks…. so I thought maybe it was because you were Claire’s mother, and well, married, and all, and I wanted to apologize if you were and well, maybe …..” He stopped suddenly, as if he was afraid to talk anymore.

But she wasn’t … and he hadn’t finished his sentence.

“Maybe?” she heard herself asking.

He smiled. Did she mention he had dimples?

“Maybe… we could get that drink?”

Maybe they could.

“Sae’s, 7 P.M tomorrow night?”

He smiled his answer.

She couldn’t remember a time when she had felt so at ease with a man before. Not even with her previous boyfriends.

Peeta had a way of making her smile, apparently. T they had spent hours in a diner; drinking and eating and talking until Sae, the owner, almost kicked them out. And now that he was walking her back to her old Corolla, she realized she really didn’t want the evening to end.

Even though she knew she wasn’t ready for more.

Peeta was walking casually by her side, his hands in his pockets instead of at the small of her back, as they had been when they left the diner, when he had opened to door for her.

He hung back as she climbed into her car, watching her as she rolled down the window.

“Thank you for the drinks, Peeta,” she said, unable to convey more with her words, but hoping he would.

“You’re welcome,” he answered, his face falling a little.

He didn’t add anything else.

Katniss closed her eyes, sighing.

She would have that evening, something to remember, at least.

She started her car, wanting to get away as quickly as possible before she did something stupid like cry.

She didn’t even make it a foot further.

She jumped as she saw two big hands land on the edge of the window. lifting her gaze, she met Peeta’s so blue eyes.

“Don’t go….” he begged, his voice shaking a little.

“Why?” She couldn’t find a reason to stay - he hadn’t enjoyed his time, and that was okay. She had kept on talking, he hadn’t.

“Because I don’t have your phone number.”

“You want my phone number?” Katniss was seriously confused, wondering where that had come from.

He smiled, bending at the waist to lean closer to her.

“So I can ask you out again.”

“You want to go out with me again? Why?”

“Because I want to … you’re fascinating Katniss, and I can’t stop thinking about things I shouldn’t be thinking about….”

“Like?”

He looked straight into her eyes. “Like kissing you, like taking you home …”

“Not on the first date….” she whispered.

“Not on the first date,” he agreed.

She sat up a little taller in her seat, trying to reach to him. She wanted to act before she did something stupid like get out of the car and jump him. She leaned towards him, close enough to whisper in his ear.

“My number’s in Claire’s file. I’m the emergency contact”.

She let her mouth trail along his jaw - her lips never quite touching him, so close she could smell him, until she reached the corner of his mouth.

She left a small kiss there, tender and sweet. Unexpected for both of them.

Dazzling 2021 Hyundai Elantra Rolls Out on an Empty Movie Set

Hyundai upped its game, again, with the global reveal of the seventh-generation Elantra sedan. The car is truly impressive, but the West Hollywood set for the rollout, called The Lot, was essentially deserted: no journalists, no analysts, no photographers, and no caterers – just Hyundai people, dancers, and videographers for the live-streamed announcement Tuesday night. Since early March, there have been no major auto shows, and as of this week, no more on-location media/analyst introductions of new cars. They’ve all been called off or shifted from in-person to virtual because of coronavirus concerns.

As with the new midsize Hyundai Sonata sedan last fall, Hyundai imbued the Elantra with class-above features, a slew of technologies standard or optional including semi-autonomous driving and a pair of 10.25-inch color displays in the dashboard. There will be regular and performance engines plus a hybrid that will get better than 50 mpg. We expect the trim lines will sell for $20,000-$28,000 when 2021 Elantra ships in the fall.

At the same time, as buyers are shifting from compact cars to compact SUVs, the quality and desirability of small sedans has never been better, led by the 2020 Mazda3 (which shipped last year). Even old standbys such as the Toyota Corolla have injected a higher level of quality and amenities. Now Hyundai has a chance to raise the bar, as it did with Sonata, our reigning ExtremeTech Car of the Year.

The overall exterior design, with sculpted lines, a sharp crease running along the side, and dominant grille, is what Hyundai describes as “Sensuous Sportiness defined in the Parametrics Dynamics Design.” All we can say is, it looks good, and that is one big-ass grille upfront, which apparently is the parametrics design thing.

Hyundai is taking safety seriously with many standard features …

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) with Pedestrian Detection.

Lane Keeping Assist (LKA).

Lane Following Assist (LFA, Hyundai’s term for lane centering assist) that can keep the vehicle centered on highway and city streets.

High Beam Assist (HBA), or automatic high beams.

Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system that monitors and warns of drowsiness.

Rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, which (the camera part) is required in the US

… and offers these as options

Blind-spot warning (Hyundai calls it Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist) and rear-cross-traffic alert

Adaptive cruise control (Smart Cruise Control)

Level 2 self-driving (Highway Driving Assist)

Safe Exit Warning using blind-spot warning to keep the highway-side doors closed if it spots a car coming up

Reverse Parking Collision Avoidance Assist (PCA) to detect pedestrians and obstacles in back

The Elantra will come standard with an eight-inch color display in the center stack with HD Radio and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, wireless meaning for the phone to car connection and control. Wireless Qi charging is optional.

An optional feature is a pair of 10.25-inch displays (photo above) bonded under a single sheet of glass, one for a digital instrument panel, one for the infotainment system. It was only a few years ago that the center display was considered big if a 7- or 8-inch LCD was offered. The 10.25-inch display option includes a faster infotainment processor. Also optional is a Bose eight-speaker audio upgrade.

Hyundai continues to offer Blue Link, its telematics system, and with it cloud-based navigation (that or use your phone). The Hyundai smartphone app does the usual remote lock/unlock, find my car, blow the horn/lights features. Additionally, you can get an RFID card called Digital Key that works as a cheap (about $20 for extras) remote entry and car-start key via Near Field Communication and Bluetooth Low Energy. If you loan it to a friend, you’re not out hundreds of dollars for a key replacement if it’s lost. It’s for Android only; Apple remains fussy about what it lets its NFC chip be used for.

Hyundai says it has enhanced the onboard voice recognition system (regardless of what your phone offers) for conversational control. It lets you say: Climate on/off; air conditioner on/off; heat on/off; fan high/low; defrost on; set fan to face, feet, or face and feet; defrost on and set fan to feet; warm up/cool down; air intake system on; turn on/off heated seats (driver/passenger); set heated seat levels 1, 2, or 3 (driver/passenger); rear window defroster on/off; and turn on/off the heated steering wheel.

The 2021 Elantra is about as big as a compact car can be and still be a compact: 184.1 inches long (+2.2 inches longer than the outgoing 2015-2020 sixth-generation Elantra), 71.9 inches wide (+1.0 inch), 55.7 inches tall (minus 0.8 inches), with a 107.1-inch wheelbase (+0.8 inches). Among the roughly competitive set, it’s bigger than the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, barely bigger than the Mazda3, and 1.0 inches shorter than the Volkswagen Jetta. This should make the cabin even roomier; we’ll have to see what the lower height does for rear-seat headroom. Specs make the rear seat legroom, 38 inches, on par with some full-size cars.

The 2021 Elantra will be offered in the same SE, SEL and Limited trim lines. As for locomotion, the base car gets the current 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 147 hp and a CVT. Hyundai does hold out hope for performance with an N-Line version with a turbo four. And to keep up with the Toyota Corolla Hybrid and the Honda Insight (a Civic hybrid by a different name), there’s a hybrid version with a 1.6-liter gas engine, a 43-hp electric motor, a combined 139 hp, a six-speed dual clutch transmission, and a combined EPA rating of “more than … 50 mpg.” The Corolla and Insight hybrid editions are rated at 52 mpg.

The features of the Elantra should – could – shore up the sagging market for compact cars, which fell to 1.39 million last year from 1.56 million. The Elantra ranked fourth last year with 175,094 sales, down 13 percent, just behind the Nissan Sentra. The Civic and Corolla sold more than 300,000 units.

Not to diss the small sedan market in the least, but we can only hope the same styling, features set and technology of the Elantra come soon to Hyundai’s compact Tucson SUV, whose third-generation went on sale in 2015 and got a refresh in 2019. Expect it later this year as a 2021 model. Hyundai has been on a roll with excellent rollouts last year, including the midsize Palisade SUV and the Sonata. It’s likely to continue with the Elantra, and then, we hope, with the Tucson.

how many ghosts of the past are there? page 5

This message is from another ex of billy’s telling me that Mandy knows I blocked her, that she needs to me to believe her and doesn’t want me to get hurt. she too tells me things that billy has said or done as though it were out of a play book. apparently he uses the same lines on all of us. how he has told all of us that we make him feel what it’s like to be loved.. that pam and Jim from the office are everything he wants you guys to be(makes you watch the show too), how he wants a labradoodle and wants to spend his life being better because that's what you deserve...seriously word for word like its out of a book...she tells me to unblock Mandy.. confused again... I unblock her.

Mandy texts me saying she needs me to believe her that he’s not a good guy. he preys on those who are kind and that he can manipulate..basically moves in without you even realizing (holy shit he had) ..this goes on the next few days and so does billy’s drinking and disappearing and returning late at night drunk. but one night in particular stands out. he hadn’t been texting me or replying to my messages. I went to my parents house to stay because I needed a break. they live roughly 30 minutes away... nothing too far. at 2 am I get a call frantically asking me to come get him. he’s drunk(shocker), down town, someone has stolen $4000 from him and if I don’t come he was going to jail that night and hangs up. without question I get in my car to go get him. on my way he calls me 3-4 times asking where I was... like I could magically click my heels and be there. he gets mad saying don’t fucking come then, hangs up...calls back...babe where are you, I need you. I love you please come. after him changing the location of where I'm supposed to pick him up I finally reach him. he gets in the car. stares at me with this smile like he just won the lottery..thinking back it was creepy but at the time it came off endearing. he apologizes for everything he’s put me through, tells me I make him want to be better.... two minutes later he's yelling at me because he wants food...I didn’t bring my wallet with me and apparently someone stole his. I find $3 in change so we go to mcdonalds. he calms back down. we get home, he passes out.

we wake up the next morning..he refuses to explain who took $4000 from him and the situation. starts getting mad so I drop it.. he also tells me that yesterday he “quit” his job because he was sick of his manager and his friend has a great opportunity for him that’s going to make him “so much money”. I don't ask questions because at this point everything out of his mouth I'm not sure I believe. that night he tells me he’s meeting his step dad for dinner, he won't be long.. we all know how that one goes.. however this time he asks if he can borrow some money so he can buy some drinks...I reluctantly agree and give him $100. he leaves at 7..says he’ll be home at latest 10.... but we all know how that goes.. 2 am rolls around.. I'm still awake... he doesn’t answer calls..texts or anything. he comes in the door reeking of alcohol and old cigarettes. surprisingly this time in a good mood. saying aw you should’ve come. my step dad can't wait to meet you!...I say where were you..he says that his step dad wanted to go to OTR because he’s never been..(in the back of my mind I'm thinking why does an old dude want to go to otr) I turn over and go to sleep. I'll deal with it in the morning. at this point its February and almost valentines day... since the incident with his step dad things have calmed down and almost seem to be going back to normal besides for the few odd things I had noticed. Mandy is still telling me I need to leave. He’s also started hiding his phone more, leaving to go to the bathroom every two seconds.. going outside more and disappearing more. I also realize that when ever we go out...I drive. that’s when I see his keys.. he no longer had the keys for the fancy Nissan he picked me up in on our first date.. instead they're mangled keys to a Toyota corolla.. before I jump to conclusions one night when he disappears I watch him leave. I see him get into this old beaten up corolla that I had seen for days outside of my apartment. it all makes sense now..he “quit” his job at the car dealership so that means no fancy dealership car.. he’s stuck with his POS car.

I also notice that we never go to his place, we’re always at my apartment. so I ask him about it.. he reveals to me that the house he claims he has isn’t actually his. in fact its his friends + his wife’s house... he lives in their basement and it was embarrassing to tell me so he didn't.

I find out that he smokes.. he always claimed that when he came home drunk it was from people smoking at the bars. I knew he was lying but at this point I was so overwhelmed with lies that that one seemed the least of my worries.

one Friday we go to mad tree and I ask him about his car and what happened to the fancy one. he yells at me for constantly accusing him of lying and that he’s sick of it. I yet again apologize and drop it. the next few days are calm...I'm working a different schedule to normal, it’s valentines day and we have plans.

My Impressions from the Boston Auto Show (long)

Hi all,

Just came back from the New England Auto Show in Boston and, given it's a small and limited show with lots of models close to each other, it's easy to do cross comparisons of brands and individual cars. I've long enjoyed coming home from such shows and posting some of my impressions. Here are my random, opinionated views from the frigid Seaport District of Boston:

Acura:

Everything save for the RDX and NSX feels a full two generations behind the auto mainstream. Acura continues to have mind-boggling mindshare to me, and their stand was pretty crowded.

They had a few ILX's out there front and center, which I thought was unfortunate as it's a deeply unimpressive vehicle from every standpoint. Again, feels like a terrific 2006 model...

Alfa:

I heard many people sitting in these models, loving them, but being concerned about their quality... Ouch...

Sitting down later in an A4, it feels pretty obvious to me that its dash and ergonomics were the target for the Alfa Romero Giulia. I went back and forth and so many of the spacial relationships and detail are very similar.

The Stelvio's dash, while very much that the Giulia, is larger by nature of the vehicle, and has a lot more super-plain swaths of uninspiring plastic. One person sitting in it called the dash "minimalist." I think that's being generous for the price...

Aston Martin:

The local dealer brought a shocking number, and they're amazing as always. If I had the money for any car in the world right now, it would be the new Vantage, which happily looks even better in the metal than photos.

Audi:

I talked to many people at the show randomly who said they were there to see Audis more than everything else. They're really the aspirational vehicle right now in the Boston area, I'd say...

The dash of the A7 absolutely feels like sitting down in a shuttlepod arrived from the future. Wow, what an interior. I'm sure in 10-15 years it'll feel as dated as a Buick Reatta's does now, but in 2019, it's outstanding. The anti-Tesla dash, as all of it's multitude of screens are beautifully integrated None of the other Audi interiors are nearly as impressive as the A7/8.

Why don't people talk more about the R8? It's really outstanding...

Chevy:

Can someone tell me why the Blazer is getting so much hate? It's quite attractive outside (but suffering from GM interior syndrome inside, see Buick below). Certainly, it's no worse than the Ford Edge at which it's obviously targeted.

Buick:

The Regal GS, a vehicle I've long liked, had its replacement there with about a $45,000 sticker. Sadly, the refresh doesn't keep up with the competition. It's interior is unimpressive, and the sleek design just somehow doesn't come together, being less than the sum of its detailing. There are a LOT of nicer vehicles inside and out (including the Giulia sitting 20 feel away for only $4500 more).

I'll use the Buick entry to discuss GM interiors in general. They were doing so well for a while. What's happened? Small gauges, bizarre and gravely dash plastics, odd and blobby shapes to dash components and door trim, the cheapest pieces seemingly reserved for things you touch. And so.... many... intersecting... lines... GMC, Buick, Chevy, it's the same across their lineup. They need to fix interiors and fast.

Kia:

Let's talk about the Stinger. WOW. The surprise of the show for me. Very interestingly, they had a Stinger and the G70 sitting about 30 feet away from each other and, to my shock, I vastly preferred the Stinger. I find its interior far more focused, honest, and less busy. It actually looks more bespoke inside and out. And I love the hatch. This could be my next car, we'll see. Good thing it's so impressive, as the AWD GT2 on the floor was priced in G70 territory ($54,000).

No K900 on the stand, which I wanted to see :(

The brand has some legs, as their stand was mobbed.

Ford:

Not being a truck, SUV, or Mustang guy, I couldn't get up any enthusiasm to visit their stand, and after owning 2 Fords in my life (Taurus SHO and SVT Contour), the brand and I are probably done...

Genesis:

I so badly want to love the G70, but this is the third time I've gotten a close look at it and I just can't get all the way there. The exterior still whispers "G35" to me (all the more so with a Q50 sitting 15 feet away). The interior, despite looking awesome in photos, feels busy, overdesigned, and dated to me. Squint, and I could think it's an economy car, the center console being particular aimless and underdesigned in particular. I hate the three HUGE HVAC dials, and its stuck-on dash screen feels more in-your-face than most. Sigh. I really wanted to fall in love...

I liked the G80 Sport quite a bit, but it's interior sadly just doesn't justify the price and whispers "cheap." Used might be a different story, though...

That said, the G90 interior is spectacular and my kids would kill for those back seats.

Infiniti:

See Acura: Everything here feels old, especially the dual screen dashes (which, a few years ago, felt fresh and design forward, which is the danger of tech focused design.... Beware, Audi...). The Q50 and its bigger brother, is it Q80? I don't remember or care. They all feel so sad and, with their Pontiac-like sport body cladding, so wanna be. And adding insult to injury, their local flagship dealer, located right next to Porsche in a particular franchise of dealers in THE CITY proper, just decamped waaaay out to a distant exurb. It feels fitting. Buh-bye....

Lexus:

I couldn't stick around here long, I'm just sooo unimpressed by the brand. That said, the LS interior and seats are excellent and the ES interior (despite an impressive exterior refresh) is very disappointing. It really feels (and even smells!) like a Toyota.

Speaking of interiors, BTW, with the Toyota stand literally across the aisle, it's impossible to ignore that these companies obviously share studios. If you want to make your 100K LS feel like a fraud, just go sit in a new Corolla, an Avalon, an ES, and then your LS. Now, everything cranks up in quality as expected, but these kids obviously have the same parents in their swooping interior shapes, their organization of controls, and even in switchgear look and feel.

Lincoln:

Ok, the Aviator was the second surprise of the show for me. It's a knock-out. Oh, that exterior. People at the show would just stop in their tracks and stare. You couldn't enter, but you could look inside at the interior, and it's very impressive. It's the Navigator theme - updated. This SUV is America's Land Rover, and if Lincoln prices this right, it deserves to be a massive hit. I hate SUVs, and even I'd think about buying this vehicle. The new Caddy XT6 is in so much trouble...

I have no love for something Navigator sized, but boy that interior is tremendous...

Standing back and looking at the Lincoln stand, they've accomplished something here. Everything looks the part of upscale product, the style across the lineup is coordinated, the grille finally works on newer models, the Black Label interiors really feel special. Lincoln may have found their niche?

Mazda:

In their palpable move upscale, they're feeling a little dull. The 6 is a snoozer.

The new (attractive) 3 was there, looking like an escapee from a Euro Alfa Romeo design studio, but you couldn't go in it. As everyone else has observed, those c pillar blind spots on the hatch are ENORMOUS.

McLaren:

They had 6 of these or so lined up at the show in a tour-de-force display. I could have stared at these for hours. Rolling automotive art. The world's most lust-worthy brand right now?

Nissan:

I didn't care enough to check out their stand. Sorry...

Volvo:

So, this is the most confusing brand to me. I don't love their new universal interior style, but I give them huge credit for trying new and different things with materials and design. They had some of my favorite (S90 interior design is so warm, creamy, and comfortable) and least favorite (most S60 trims) design points of the show.

The S60 R-Design seats were hands down my most comfortable of the show. OMG, they're heaven sent. No other seats should ever be designed, these are perfect...

Does anyone else find the little Swedish flag sewed on the front seats a little insulting in a wholly owned Chinese car company? I mean, Swedish design heritage is one thing, but actually a physical little flag on the seats? Really??

Tech aging warning number 3, the Volvo digital gauges do not impress...

In the end, I'm seriously neutral on Volvo. I have a lot of respect for what they're doing, but somehow it's not connecting with me. I just don't love it.

I know I've missed some brands and models here, but this is what stool out. This was a show without BMW, MB, Caddy, Jagular, LR, among others, as auto shows continue to wane. I wish I could have a car with the Stinger's passion, the Volvo S60's seats, the Audi A7's dash, the Alfa Giulia's size, and the Genesis G70's manual. Short of that, nothing out there is wowing me right now, which is in part a function of how good everything is, and in part the parity that market leaders have reached and that everyone else is aspiring to match. I've always had models I've lusted over (look at what I own), but that's not the case right now...

Based on the show alone what three cars would I love to have in my driveway? The Aviator, the Stinger, and the G90 with me as a rear passenger.

I am 28 years old. I have a clean driving record. I got a speeding ticket for 0-10 miles over. Seat belt on. Will my insurance company know I got this ticket and will they raise my rates. We have Geico. Should I take the defensive driving class and keep this ticket off my record? Or should I just pay it and go on?

Do you need to be enrolled in school to stay covered under your parents health insurance? Affordable Care Act?

So here's the question in case you don't want to read my wall of text below (but it would be appreciated if you did to further understand my question). I was covered under my moms health insurance while in college and I was told I needed to be enrolled in school to stay covered, I dropped out a while ago and was wondering if I am still covered by law under the Affordable Care Act since I am only 19. I was covered under my mothers health insurance, she works for a private company and she said that I needed to be enrolled in school in order to stay covered by the insurance. But this was close to a year ago if I'm remembering correctly. The reason I'm worried is because I'm taking a break from college, and have had multiple doctor appointments/tests done after I left, but I never had a problem with the insurance going through. I've made myself paranoid into thinking that the company may just not know, and is assuming I'm still in school and will randomly hit me with the costs of the testings and doctor visits if they saw I was not in school, or god forbid somewhere down the road my mother or I are in a serious accident and are dropped because of this. I know this happens all the time, the insurance agencies have people hired to find abnormalities in your history in an attempt to drop you and not have to pay the bills. So would I still be covered under my mothers health insurance even though I'm not currently enrolled in school under the Affordable Care Act? Once again I am 19 also. Thank you""

I know there's tests that men should have when they're around the age of 50. My dad hasn't been to the doctor for years because he doesn't have health insurance or a job(he's living with my grandma who's 76).
