been having massive brainworms of yachi and kiyoomi meeting in college and becoming close friends + yachi having to play wingman for kiyoomi when he meets you

cannot stop thinking about unlikely friends yachi and kiyoomi. they probably first met during nationals in kiyoomi's last year in itachiyama. maybe she piqued his interest when he heard her tell hinata to go back to the bathroom and wash his hands properly. they met again in uni and stuck together until they graduated and had to part ways because of their career choices.

and it probably was a gradual thing too, how they became friends. with kiyoomi being generally prickly and yachi being so shy. they just started sitting at the same table one day in the library. then, small nods of acknowledgment became hesitant attempts at small talk. then, it turned into kiyoomi crashing into the chair across from yachi that he has deemed his throughout the semester and immediately complaining about some professor while yachi nods in sympathy. then, it turned into yachi buying two orders of her coffee for that day because she knew kiyoomi would try stealing her coffee under the guise of "i just wanted to try what sugary concoction you brought today, hitoka. c'mon." that he swears he doesn't like. they probably also have matching keychains that kiyoomi bought for them on a whim one day when he was out in the city. and kiyoomi was definitely the person yachi had on speed dial for when she went on dates that started well but ended up making her uncomfortable. and in turn, yachi was the first one he told about you, about the person he was paired up with for a class presentation. she was the first to notice when kiyoomi started crushing on you, even before he himself realized. to notice the way kiyoomi would stare at you longer than necessary, gaze warm with an undercurrent of longing. and the way it might not be as one-sided as kiyoomi deemed it was when she catches you stealing glances at him when you think no one was looking. and naturally, yachi is the first to set the both of you up, ditching the hangout the three of you planned with motoya and tsukasa (that was two weeks in the making, mind you) because "ah, sorry! a very important deadline was moved to today and motoya, tsukasa-san, and i haven't even done half of it." kiyoomi would be disgruntled at how bad that excuse was because the three of them aren't even in the same classes, let alone groupings. and he tells yachi as much. you are none the wiser of course. "i'm really sorry!!! i was so excited too :(( we'll make it up to you both okay? xo" yachi would send to you and to kiyoomi, "if you don't end up kissing them by the end of tonight, don't even bother texting me. good luck!" - [Today 10:19PM] thanks, hitoka

You ever think about how in spite of knowing their exact locations, the game never gives any indication that templar Carver has reported his mage sibling, Merril (a blood mage) or Anders (an abomination) to his superiors?

I do think about that a lot, even though I tend to ignore the Templar Carver route because I know Warden Carver to be true in my heart and soul... but I totally get the appeal of Templar Carver within DA2's narrative, y'know?

It's so fascinating, really. I've never played a run with Templar Carver, I just can't bring myself to do it, so I know I'm missing out on smaller details of it. From what I do know, this drives me crazy in the best way possible.

Deciding whether to bring him or not to the Deep Roads is such an important choice, not only because it affects his fate, but how it affects his relationship to Hawke. He tells you that he wants to go, he makes it very clear that it's important to him that he goes, too... and Hawke can just leave him behind and it hurts him. I don't think that registers enough with some people just because of how Carver is, like it doesn't matter what Hawke's motivations are [staying behind for his safety, not wanting to bring him, thinking someone should stay with Leandra, etc] it still hurts him because it tells him that Hawke doesn't need him, and Carver wants to be needed.

And yes, there are other contributing factors to why he joins the templars, but it doesn't matter what your relationship is to him, it doesn't change the fact that he doesn't turn Hawke or his companions in.

Sure, the meta reason is it's a video game and you're playing the main character. You're never in any actual danger of being captured by templars, and you're not going to lose your companions to them that easy.

But if we look at it through the narrative and Carver's character, that's when it gets interesting. You can max out his rivalry and be an utter asshole to him [there's a point where you can call him a brat and mock him for being stuck in your shadow, like Hawke can be real cruel about it] but it doesn't matter, you're still his sibling. He even makes a remark about how you might not know what that means [referring to leaving him behind] but he does. He refuses to kill Hawke in the end when Meredith makes the order, too.

Which can I just point out that Hawke has the option to let Bethany die in the end if she's with the circle and they side with the templars? Just saying, Carver NEVER does that no matter what, but Hawke has the option to betray Bethany like that and it's fucked and interesting and it makes me want to eat my chair-

As for Merrill and Anders, I think he knows that if he turns either of them in, then the chances of Hawke being brought in as well skyrocket. They're all friends, they're in the same group... bring one in, and you'll probably get the other two.

I also think Carver just genuinely likes Merrill. Yes, I'm a Carver/Merrill shipper, so I have a bias, but even if you remove anything romantic from their dynamic I believe that's true. Of all the companions, Merrill is the only one who doesn't make fun of him, or find him annoying, in party banters. He never snaps back at her, like he's never defensive with her, he's just a little awkward and nice.

Like, HE'S SO NICE TO HER! He tries to find common ground with her! She asks him about "swording" and he's taken aback by her saying he's good at it, but you KNOW that if someone like Anders asked him the same question, he's be all, "shut up, you're stupid, stop talking to me >:["

Think back to that banter Carver can have with Aveline post-act 1 where they're talking about how the guard wasn't the right place for him [hard disagree with you there, Aveline] and Carver says he was a bit of a tit, wasn't he.... and every companion will agree except Merrill. She doesn't say anything, whereas other companions like Anders will be like "ugh maker YES" and if you have a purple Hawke, they'll go on to other ways Carver was a tit like?? I think Carver and Merrill got along and he doesn't want to turn her in because she was nice to him! And she's a blood mage! He knows what will happen to her if the templars get ahold of her! He doesn't want to see her made tranquil or killed!

At that point, he's witnessed what bad blood mages can do, assuming you've brought him along for those quests, but even so. He knows Merrill isn't like that and he likes her, so of course he's not going to turn her in despite that being his literal duty.

Then there's Anders who Carver doesn't like. If you're in a romance with him, Carver will tell him that's why he doesn't turn him in but c'mon Carver, you know that's not the only reason. My theory is Carver may not like Anders and he knows the man's got a spirit of justice inside of him... but Anders also runs a free clinic. If he's ever taken in by templars, then so many people [including a LOT of Fereldan refugees] will be without free health care and will suffer for it. I think in Carver's eyes, Anders might be irritating but he doesn't more good than harm. Carver knows first hand how shitty refugees and poorer people are treated in Kirkwall. Anders' clinic is the one place they can go for help and actually get it, and he's not going to be the one to take that away because the templars say "magic bad."

So yeah, I'm not as informed about the Templar Carver route, but I do think about how if I did do that route, he wouldn't betray Hawke or their companions no matter what and what that says about him.

In the tags I saw you mentioned that Meloni is a speedster? And that she’s classified as one? Can you give me a link, or a comic? Bc I think that’s rlly cool (and never rlly thought about it regarding the whole Thawne-Allen thing).

Yeah so, this was when Owen was trying to figure out who his mom was and was doing research into female speedsters. Off the top of my head I can't remember which Flash issue this was or what the arc was called but it was the one that the West twins were born in. The one with the rogues war. I actually did a whole post breaking that arc down if you can get the search function on Tumblr to work for once.

But yeah, Meloni was considered a 'female speedster' in that arc and it does make sense because Owen had to get his powers from somewhere. And his dad is Captain Boomerang, so he certainly didn't get them from him. Meloni has never shown any actual powers that I know of but she is a Thawne and both of her children are speedsters, so she does have some sort of inherent speedforce connection. (She might not use it though because of her father's hatred for speedsters)

So yeah, it's Wally's Flash run. The arc where the twins are born. But the start of that arc. If you've hit Zombie Captain Boomerang then turn back and look at earlier issues in the arc, cause you've gone too far.

I feel like ME3 kinda leaves the revelation on Chronos Station hanging when EDI is like “oh yeah Cerberus is Indoctrinating civilians and augmenting them with Reaper cybernetics, that’s why they treat their soldiers’ lives so cheaply”

It comes really late in the game, after Shepard’s walked over a pile of Cerberus bodies. Maybe part of that is that by the time she has a chance to rest after having it confirmed, she’s done fighting Cerberus for good. But then, it’s pretty heavily foreshadowed. Grissom has datapads saying they plan to make Phantoms out of the biotic students if they can take them. Eden Prime has a thing where they’re pretending to the civilians they’re occupying that the people they’re kidnapping are being taken away for forced labor and hiding that they’ll never be seen again. fucking Mars has you see their Reaper-cybernetic-altered faces, though you don’t find out about them not being willing volunteers until later. Liara seems to be aware of this given her convo with Aethyta.

I’m not sure if it’s my copy of ME:Legendary or something else but sometimes when I throw them they get stuck ragdolled in a corner with hit points remaining but they’re not getting up, and finishing them always feels kinda grim.

The version of Shepard they portray who has no comment on either doing that or finding out that she’s been doing that to people who were taken from their families against their will and mind controlled is, like...

it says disturbing things about how inured she is to violence. the entire squad, really.

So Helmet has been very vocal about wanting to offer Seb a position with the red bull team specifically a position with the red bull driver academy.

Franz Tost is stepping away at the end of this year as team principal of Alpha Tauri, formerly Toro Rosso, which is essentially the learning ground for the red bull academy drivers in f1, it's where Seb himself learnt the ropes.

Seb has made an unexpected return to the paddock, most of us hadn't had a Monaco gp visit from Seb on our bingo prediction cards for this year, most of us had assumed his first return to the paddock would be in Monza or in Austria.

He's allegedly in Monaco to speak to Domenicali among others.

I also wanted to highlight this dialogue option that happened at the conclusion of Andreja's personal quest.

Andreja is a woman of deep faith. It's not just her core philosophy, it's her heritage, her family, her purpose. While Andreja is not a zealot looking to violently confront the non-believers in the galaxy, her faith in the Great Serpent is still extremely important to who she is.

And in this moment, she is about to shatter. She believes that she has been abandoned, labeled a traitor and a heretic by the people back home. A home she may never see again because she chose to fight against obvious corruption and lies from one member of her faith.

Sarit Ramesh is a scientist. A skeptic. She sees the world in terms of mathematics, hard facts and logic. And yet, on this journey with Andreja, she has been taught to be a little less rigid. To expand her mind to possibilities she never considered before.

Just as Andreja found the bravery to confess her past, her sins, and even reveal her faith to someone as opposite to her as Sarit. So in this moment, Sarit Ramesh put the scientist aside. She took a leap of faith.

Though she does not believe in the Great Serpent, she does not mock Andreja's faith in a vain attempt at humor. She does not flippantly dismiss the people Andreja grew up with. And she does not try to make a flimsy secular attempt at comfort that would only fall flat.

In this moment, Sarit took Andreja's faith as seriously as anyone in House Varuun does. And she reminded Andreja that no one else can judge her worth as a person, or as a member of the faithful. She reminded Andreja that the Great Serpent does not work through human intermediaries chosen by the church, but through everyone who believes.

And I just thought that was beautiful. And one of the major reasons they became close enough to (very awkwardly) confess their mutual affection for one another.

I'm FINALLY through with Dressrosa which means I'll be seeing our main man again soon, but now I'm thinking about how long I'm going to be in Whole Cake Island... like it took me a (relatively) long time to get through Dressrosa and Sanji wasn't even there for most of it! With WCI I'm going to be pausing every 5 minutes to get screenshots! Lord help me, I'm going to be stuck there for the rest of my life...

i've been wanting to write this up and keep forgetting to when i have time ,   but i just remembered and i won't squander the opportunity .   but i want to talk a bit about arthur's suffering at the hands of the o'driscolls ,   and then his later impairments caused by the experience .

first of all ,   the wounds he sustained while he was being kidnapped and torture .   he firstly sustained one huge blow to his head when they first knocked him out ,   and then several more to knock him out as he was being taken to their camp .   in the middle of the trip ,   when he tried to escape ,   they also shot him in the non-dominant shoulder at point blank ,   and the sound of the blast also knocked him out cold again .   at the camp ,   they strung him up upside down and hit him .   though the journey and the amount of time they had him prisoner aren't clear ,   i'd like to say it was a good hour before arthur could finally swing and cut himself down .   in that time ,   he had a tremendous strain put on his eyes and his heart and lungs   ( this ordeal and ,   later ,   the weakened immune system as it worked to heal him exacerbated and ultimately catapulted his tuberculosis infection into active tb )   that caused his blood pressure to drop ,   and caused him to begin temporarily losing his vision .   he can barely see when he finally manages to escape .   it's adrenaline that keeps him from passing out until he's on his horse and running .

the last conditions he has because of this .   it took him a handful of weeks ,   probably at least a month and a half ,   back with the gang before he was finally well enough to get back up and on his feet .   his vision did not clear up for a few days after his return ,   and his shoulder took much longer to heal to the point where he could use his arm properly .   that said ,   he cannot lift his left arm very high all the way up .   i like to think susan grimshaw knew that he wouldn't be able to work his arm well if he didn't exercise it ,   so she absolutely made him do physically therapy and stretches even in pain so that it didn't atrophy and heal wrong .   luckily ,   that's not the arm he primarily uses to shoot .   he used to be able to wield double revolvers/pistols when he needed to ,   but after colm ,   he only shoots with his right .   he did also suffer a bit of internalised bleeding around his stomach and intestines from blunt trauma .   outwardly it manifested as a lot of bruising .   sorry but he did also suffer from some blood in his stool and couldn't hold much food down for over half a month before that began to clear up .   he also suffers from occasional ocular headaches that rarely develop into migraines .   these can cause him to stop what he's doing for a while if it's bad enough .

he also ends up with irreversible damage to his left eardrum after that shot into his shoulder at point blank .   cannot believe i forgot to mention that because the gunshot went off so close to his head   ( to the point of knocking him out ),   it also essentially blasted his eardrum apart ,   causing immediate and permanent hearing loss .   he can still hear from his right ,   it was only ringing for a couple weeks before it eventually subsided .   but he cannot hear out of his left ear anymore after the incident .   he doesn't talk about it because he doesn't want anyone bringing it up ,   but there are signs : he's slow to react to sounds on his left side ,   and he only sleeps on his back or with his head turned to point his right ear up .

i know that jesse armstrong is more than capable of knowing when to end a series but the way it was announced that season 4 is going to be the last one kind of made me feel like the whole process behind it is a bit sketchy. they only revealed that s4 is the last one only a month before the premiere, even after posting teaser trailers that never even hinted at the season being the last, and even the cast got the news only during the table read for the final episode. the promotion of season 4 has been disappointing especially when compared to season three. while the actors are not the ones writing the show, most of them have been very clear that they could have seen the show go on for another season and their disappointment over the show ending has been clear as day. while an ambiguous ending will be a very fitting end to succession and i am not against it, i am definitely wondering if the decision to finish with season 4 was something that developed during the filming process instead of it being a clear guideline throughout the creative process of season 4.
