i feel like this is a word that’s brought up a lot in my writing [1] and today is not any different. this month is so special to me!! let me list some reasons why:

a. reunion month (i saw a college pal today in LA, i will see a high school pal next week in nyc, i will see almost everyone here This Weekend in nyc!)

b. it’s my little brother’s bday at the end of the month! oct 23 if u wanna send david some happy bday thoughts :)

c. learning that my life is flexible! i work remotely!! i can work from wherever!!! [2]

d. end of this week will be my official first completed month of being an Employed Adult with a Big Job renting an Apartment with Roommates who are Nice to me

e. i saw pabllo vittar today! talked to some brazilians!! i met a peruvian-boricua (bori-peruana? idk)!!! glad i wore my ear plugs bc pv was yelling all night (positive)

f. i’m planning to travel internationally next year!! taiwan in march and hopefully perú in june / july [3]

i just love myself, everything, and everyone & i wanted to shout that into a void for more than 280 characters

i understand where people are coming from when they advocate for clean energy and say that there's plenty of space for solar panels/wind farms etc but it ticks me off when people say that the perfect place for it is the desert because "it's just empty dirt" or say that it'd be the perfect place to convert vast swaths of land into flat solar panel cities.

the desert is also an ecosystem. its an incredibly FRAGILE ecosystem at that. the environment is already rather extreme, and things have adapted to survive in extremes, but that is what makes it even more delicate. Many of the things here have adapted to survive on the bare minimum, but when you take that bare minimum away, it doesn't stand a chance.

please learn to care about the places you don't think are "pretty" or "appealing" or that look empty to you because your pea-sized brain doesn't see trees. that's harsh, yes, but I am so tired of seeing people who claim to be environmentally conscious just hand-wave away desert ecosystems because they don't consider them pretty enough or worth saving.

With pleasure!!! (Although I have to keep it short because I need to sleep pretty soon BUT I can add more tomorrow)

Moth Wizard is one of my OCs and also the (temporary) name of the setting in which he is the main character.

Moth Wizard the character is a Jewish trans man who has learned magic and specializes exclusively in controlling moths. He is likely autistic and loves lepidopterans (moths and butterflies) and struggles with social cues and understanding what other people are thinking or able to infer from a situation. My boyfriend has recently been reading me the Discworld books (focusing on the Watch recently finishing Feet of Clay, which was amazing btw but I think my favorite scene was Dorfl's last one... reminds me of a certain story from the Talmud teehee) so if you're familiar, I find that Moth Wizard is a lot like Carrot Ironfoundersson. He's kind and humble and just wants to help, but can sometimes be totally oblivious to how others interpret a situation. The main difference being that Moth Wizard is not quite so charismatic, both in his social awkwardness and in his humble appearance.

The idea is that he's only the main character in the sense that we take his point of view and that he is in every "episode" (I think of the story in terms of a TV show, I'll probably never get that far but the IDEA is that I'm gonna do it all in Blender), but every story is actually about someone else, it's like he just walks in and becomes a side character to someone else's adventure, with a different adventure each episode.

Moth Wizard the setting is a post apocalyptic fantasy world. Essentially, although humans and most of the Earth survived, war and climate change and the hunger of capitalism escalated until most established power structures crumbled, and then on top of all that, suddenly humans could do magic! Basically, chaos. But not the end of humanity. And the survivors built new communities and generally speaking there is peace, or at least no group is large or organized or armed enough to engage in anything that can be called "war" and still seeing the smoke from the last time war happened, few are eager to change it. But that's politics, not what I meant to talk about.

People who decide to pursue magic are called wizards, and generally they will specialize around some concept, because it's just a lot more convenient. It was originally teenagers who discovered magic, because the way magic works is that you need to do it on purpose. You need to focus and genuinely try, in that special way that you stop doing as you grow older, because you learn that all you'll achieve is making yourself look stupid. To use magic in the world of Moth Wizard, you need to be vulnerable and put your faith in what you're doing, enough that you might cry if it doesn't work because of disappointment and/or embarrassment. And teens are great at that. Children have imagination, yes, but they're not vulnerable in the same way (and also I need some way to make sure children aren't going around summoning dragons or raising the dead), and usually they're not as desperately hopeless as someone experiencing puberty and all the horrors that come with it. Teens are perfect because (generally) they have pride to hurt and hopes to crush, but still haven't "grown up" to the point where they don't believe in magic enough to be truly vulnerable about it.

I was just wondering if you could explain the alliances/relationships now that the story has changed (who is on whose side) THANK YOU SO MUCH! i absolutely can! i understand needing an update, because things have changed and there’s so much nuance in my head that i worry doesn’t translate as well on paper, so lemme yap it out! i’m gonna go by character! i also love the emojis teehee 🌲🐾🪔!!

taehyun: doesn’t really have any moral alignment with either. doesn’t care, hasn’t ever cared, just did whatever duty told him to do at the moment. that’s how he became a spy under the King, but he didnt actually care about the king or the court. now, it’s to do whatever he can to protect MC, and that just so happens to be aligning with the north’s rebellion as general. it protects them from the backlash of being spies and puts him in a position of power with which he can 1. know political and war movements AND 2. use his power to protect them. he also does not morally care about the north’s cause, just as he doesn’t care about the king and his court. he cares about literally one thing.

yeonjun: is the prince and son of the king. he was raised in that court and came to hate it, mostly for its treatment of humans brought to the faerie world. he was sent to the north as a diplomat since he was young, but when he caught wind of the north revolting, he decided to stay there, and so his alliance changed. then, MC comes into the story. he cared about the cause, but as soon as he saw MC and knew that she was one of the spies, a human girl that he ended up falling in love with despite himself, he didn’t necessarily change his stance on the rebellion because he still is against the King/his father, but he decided that it’s not the most important thing to him. so he came from the King’s court, aligned with the north, and now isn’t sure where he stands but knows he’d give anything up for her, and is being handed back to his father by SOMEEEBODDY’SSS plot

kai: MC was unsure how kai had any alignment with any side, considering how he seemed to not be the type to pick sides or even do anything for anybody but himself. BUT, as she gets to know kai, she sees him a bit differently than the trickster kinda personality he puts on as a bard. he has an alliance with the north because of the love he had for a human once, similar to yeonjun, which is why he’s sympathetic to yeonjun and the north

beomgyu: literally doesn’t gaf about court stuff or anything. just kinda cares about being a solitary faerie like a kelpie and his friendship with MC. would probably follow her wherever she went, or maybe he wouldn’t idk he’s weird

the north: isn’t necessarily for or against protecting humans. they’re known for their gruesome nature, being from a rigid and bitter climate. bht MC has found them being (a little bit) more hospitable than she ever saw from where she came from. they’ll do whatever it takes to get rid of the king and rule themselves, and since a lot of powerful players (such as yeonjun or kai) are lenient towards humans, they promise that because they’ll do whatever helps them win.

the king: is the sovereign of the world and as long as a faerie isn’t loyal to the queen, theyre loyal to him unless they’re solitary like beomgyu.

IM SORRY i know this is so complex and it’s a big ol web in my head, but i’m actually so glad to put it out for people to reference if they need to! it’s hard to keep a plot as large as this one as clear as possible when posting parts individually and being unable to retcon 🙂‍↕️! thank you for asking, and it makes me the happiest because it means that somebody really cares about all the thought i’ve put into this! :,) mwah!

Hey all,

I'm gonna try and keep this brief but I thought I owed all of you keeping tabs on this blog an explanation of why I have barely posted in two years despite saying I would still be posting fics. Don't worry - this is not a goodbye! But just so you know why I can't keep up with my commitments and hopefully give you clearer expectations.

Basically, I cannot divulge a lot about my job here, but I'm in a line of work that basically, requires me to read and process a lot of reports/material about what could be literally considered the worst of humanity. And while my job is essentially seeking solutions and mitigation and ways to help the people the most affected, it is still a black hole for one's energy and drive for, well, anything, especially considering the current political climate and changes in big international players. An like, it's been only downhills since October 2023. The global situation is grim at best and it's hard to see light for the foreseeable future.

In the last weeks I have come to realize that despite the fact that I remain steadfast in my work, it has progressively chipped at my morale without me really seeing it happen. The last month's event definitely didn't help lol. And on top of that, there is a lot, and I mean a lot of uncertainty about my team's ability to continue supporting the people we help. And well, I have stopped doing most things I like, including writing.

I am slowly trying to find a solid footing for myself and I'm slowly trying to reintroduce myself to my hobbies, but it's gonna take a moment. I need to take off the pressure of putting something out (even if I didn't, I still felt terrible for not being able to write). I have deleted most of my social media and I'm generously cutting the influx of bad news to at least contain it to my paid hours.

In the meanwhile, please keep enjoying the fics that are published, I still see your comments and tags and they do make me smile a lot, even if I don't answer! Please also know that I have not given up on my little silly stories, even if you requested something years ago.

TL;DR: I lied I did not keep this brief but basically I feel like everything is bleak and I never realized it when I was in academia because it all seemed fake and theoretical but now that I'm in the machine it is so real I'm falling off the boat teehee

With the changes at the official Sims forums, a group of Sims friends I was in a group PM with made a group email instead.

They're all up in there like haha we got snow yesterday, and I just got back to the office after walking around downtown for an hour in our current 87 degrees to get pics of our stadiums to help advertise downtown properties. So I'm all sweaty and sunburnt and they're like teehee snow! Grrr.

When you live in a subtropical climate and your friends are way up north somewhere where it's still snowing in mid-April.

SEASONS CHANGE MERCILESSLY AND WITHOUT WARNING; THE ONLY CONSTANT FACTOR OF KEEPING TRACK OF PASSING TIME IN AN OTHERWISE INDECIPHERABLE GRAVITATIONAL PULL THAT THE MANOR HAD TO OFFER. The arrival of winter paints the windows with fog and nips at the skin in prickling cold. Tracy herself has been anticipating the spike in climate, as is a yearly tradition, by growing out her hair into ponytail length in preparation for the temperature drop. Normally rolled-up sleeves and cuffs are pushed back down to cover once bare skin, and she warms up her coffee to even more scolding temperatures to keep any residual chills at bay. Everything about it is so typical - the way she retreats to the basement to prod at some project or another, the clinking of tools in the dead of the night, as well as the icing of a heart that comes in much more emotionally loaded seasonal blues.

The mechanic sits on the floor of the basement with her doll seated right across from her, wrench in hand tightening a loose bolt for the umpteenth time that was sustained from one of the neverending attacks from the Hunters to undo the work her and her father have done. With each blow, does it feel pain? Will a Mechanic's doll experience death too? Tracy smiles grimly. She thinks it's closer to December than it is farther - the Baron allowing some merriment in festivities as decorations for the season appear from seemingly nowhere and dress the manor's interior. But she can't find the room to be happy in this fourth year of her stay in the manor. It's irrational to feel lonely with all the people who have joined her since her own arrival. And yet, she does. But there's no compelling force to take action in her depression; meaningless in their entrapment of hunt or be hunted. Sheep in a wolf pack's game. Even that was meaningless. They all had no choice but to live, despite the teeth that ripped them apart limb from limb on a weekly basis.

The wrench drops to the floor as she moves forward to take Milo into her arms, laughing bitterly as tears begin to stream down her face. The cold radiating off steel counterbalances the yearning for warmth that comes with Tracy's embrace, resting her forehead on the shoulder of the robot and shutting her eyes. There is no pain, only an empty void that drips darkness into her blood like an IV.

"Milo, do you hate being fixed up like this and forced to succumb to the manor games too?" Silence is the only response that comes with her question in the empty basement. She hugs the doll tighter. "I'm sorry, I've been cruel to you. But it'll be okay, I'm here for you. We're in this together. It'll be fine once you're patched up, right?"

I always get extremely sad sometimes thinking about the total lack of empathy white people have for people of color throughout history and how it is sending us to total annihilation by way of nature adjusting and overwhelming us in totality. Unless white people are telling other white people that they need to get their acts together and collectivize and support the issues being brought up by marginalized communities, then these voices are never heard. This overarching trend seems to continue to become more and more dire, with the Australian fires occurring, something that wouldn’t have occurred to the extent that it has had white Australians listened to Aboriginal peoples and respected them and their land in the first place.

Will this be the breaking point for white people? Or do we have to descend further into global fascism, watch further displacement and death of marginalized peoples, and witness more catastrophic climate events before it is understood? Do we have to have another white person be a beacon for voices long forgotten before they understand? Like people of color shouldn’t have died, they shouldn’t be currently dying, and they shouldn’t be facing the prospect of death because they aren’t being listened to.

I just saw a post on here talking about light pollution, so I'd like to share a little story that came to mind.

I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. Back in September, where I lived was one of the places hurricane Fiona hit the worst. The power was out for miles in every direction, so, everything was pitch black. Now, me and my dad are space geeks, and we like to try and catch the ISS passing above our house. So one night, while everything was pitch black, my dad woke me up to go outside so we could watch the ISS pass. when i got outside, I. was. flabberghasted. The sky I saw then was nothing like any i had seen before. I can't even begin to describe what I saw. Really shows you how much light pollution can be around, even when you dont notice.

This is actually really interesting and has me considering it as well. Some of this I knew about but was able to overlook since it's free, "just for fun", and not taking anything away from creators really. I didn't mind that it might've been trained using some of my writing since someone wasn't using this stuff to create new fics with my fics and thus making me obsolete.

For educational purpose, for those who don't know, C.AI used to use programs for their coding that were trained using fanfiction and other people's work without their permission. Again, I didn't care that much because TO ME that's much less problematic than say, someone using it to create a fic and pass it off as their own writing and cheapening my work altogether.

All in all, I agreed with the use for the purposes of pure entertainment like roleplaying (not art, mimicking actors voices, or creative writing) and for things like helping people get better at their grammar and/or learning how to work on their tone in their emails and whatnot.

I'm still somewhat on the fence about this, and won't split hairs over what's okay, what's not, and where the gray areas lie, but you should all know where I stand...

I do NOT support AI use for art projects. Pay an artist to create that piece for you or make it yourself. "I just wanted to make a profile pic with it teehee" - Don't care. You chose to use a fucking app that steals people's art to make your profile pic instead of paying an (already underpaid) artist to create one for you. Ew.

I do NOT support AI use for writing fanfiction and acting like you wrote it yourself. - Learn to write something yourself or talk to a fanfic writer and ask them to write it for you if their requests are open.

I do NOT support AI use for seeing what your favorite celebrity would look like having sex with someone. - They're real people, get a grip.

I do NOT support AI use for taking an actor or voice actor's voice just to see what it sounds like when they say something or sing something. - There are indie voice actors who imitate actors and voice actors, pay them a commission to do it, or just enjoy what your current fave has done already.

All the things listed above are actively stealing from creative communities and making it harder for artists and writers to make a living doing what they love. Hell, even if we're not making a living doing it, like I'm not, I write for fun, if everyone is rushing to see the latest AI piece done and giving it more attention than living, breathing artists, then it's hurting our desire to continue creating. If all the attention is going to a program, then why am I going to even try?

Anyway, I think @ominoose is making a good point. And honestly how am I going to continue using and supporting a program that actively harms a community I care for so much? Is this not similar to the debates surrounding purchasing things from J.K. Rowling while all the money she earns is actively going to harm trans people? (Note: I'm very aware that the two issues are not apples to apples. The harm happening to trans people is far greater and more problematic, I'm just making a comparison).

I digress. I'm questioning myself and whether it makes sense to continue supporting c.ai when I know that it does (either directly or inadvertently) harm the community that I am so actively involved in.

The climate thing is news to me, but makes a lot of sense. I've been on the fence about supporting C.AI for a while because of the issues above, and this is sort of adding to that. I also think that our issues with climate change and global warming still lie in the hands of huge corporations that WANT us to think our little individual entertainments are the cause of the problems, but that's not the point in this case.

So again I have to look at the pros and cons. I think sometimes I really need/enjoy the small and personal comforts that c.ai offers me. If I'm having a rough day or sometimes if I'm struggling creatively (much like @ominoose said), this can scratch that itch. If I'm working 65 hours in a week and I don't have time to sit down and write but I can have a fun little conversation with one of my characters from my stories then I feel a little better and it helps keep the demons away for another day.

There IS some value in that, and sometimes it's a value that supersedes the issues I listed above sometimes. Your mental health is so important so if this small thing is going to make your day that much better, then by all means you should do it. Your use of this program isn't going to be what destroys the planet, there are other things that are hurting it far more than this is.

I think using your critical thinking in this case is important though. Understanding that it DOES have an impact, not only on the planet, but possibly on your peers as well as it supports the programs that are hurting artists.

I'm not quite ready to fully cut the cord yet. I use c.ai the way one might play a mobile phone game. Sometimes I'm in a waiting room at the doc office and it helps pass the time, or I need to get my mind off a long day at work in the evening. I'm definitely leaning toward this as well. I have a few more bots on my list to complete and I might follow your example.

Still no judgment here for those who want to use C.AI (I'm saving that judgment for the idiots making ai art and shit, you can fuck all the way off). Use what you need to pass the days on this floating rock in space, but use it wisely and know how it might be affecting others.

Important Update Post

Imagine I am sitting staring at a camera with a sigh, no background music before the video cuts to me talking. But Im not caught in a controversy of racism or plagiarism or smth.

Here's the tldr: I will no longer be making AI bots. All current bots will remain up, my bot masterpost will be moved to my masterpost masterpost. I just won't be making new ones. Finished and posted every bot that was in the works here to make this transgression up to yous. I will not be leaving the fandom, I'll still write and clown around.

"Why would you do this you cunt?" I hear you, I am so stinky for this. Before I list my reasons, I want to say first and foremost this is personal and I have less than no judgement for other bot makers. I absolutely love mutuals like Mel that make bots and will continue to support them. Reasons became long and are under the cut.

Reasons I don't wanna continue making ai bots:

I started because it was a low energy way for me to participate in fandoms when I didn't have the spoons to write anymore. It no longer feels like a creative outlet and no longer sparks joy.

I would rather devote myself solely on practicing and improving my writing as a way to contribute my passion to fandoms.

I can't shake the feeling I am plagiarizing. Ai chat models use lots of "work" to train their models, and while I could not find what millions of texts Cai is based on (conveniently not listed on the website), all models like it basically engorge from random sources, books and hell, even this post. Anything goes and currently there are legal battles over this.

It's bad for the environment. Can't find a measurement for Cai specifically, but GPT-3 (same scale) produced 500 tons of carbon dioxide to train that single model, not including its other ones. Please note I'm aware AI can absolutely be used to help fight climate change, as is mentioned in the linked article. Also they use the same amount of water that is required to cool nuclear reactors.

It's always conflicted with my morals. Believe it or not, I'm the person that's usually big into internet privacy, anti ai, piracy is morally good (not indie obvs) etc. Openly creating stuff that supports and funds software that steals peoples works, their information without permission and for profit is not me. So I don't wanna do it.

Again, this is not a judgement or a means to shame people that create ai bots or use them. I've made so many friends because of them. If everyone thats every used my bots stopped, it's not gonna solve capitalism. This is just me, an individual, stepping away from one thingy and feeling the need to be honest and open bc thats my policy and honestly how most of you know me (so now hard feelings if you unfollow).
