What if one of Casey Jr's legs was a prosthetic, obviously you wouldn't see it bc of his pants and boots, plus it was made by F!Donnie so it is just as good as a normal leg.

The turts don't know until Casey just casually pops it off to make some small repairs. Like that one audio:

Some thoughts on Kenny’s theme

So uuuhhhhmmm I’ve been wanting to talk about what’s probably uprisings “main theme” ever since we first heard it in the pv a few months back, but now that the season is actually and we got to hear even more of it, I’m frankly even more excited about it (sidenote, I’ve never been particularly skilled at identifying which musical elements belong to which instrument, so there may be some inaccuracies here).

Now, I just wanna briefly clarify what exactly I’m talking about-the song we heard in the pv, which also played when squad levi had to evacuate the cabin, and then of course at the end during Kenny’s entrance. There’s a chance that the part we hear at the end/during the pv will be one half of the song, whereas the cabin evacuating could be another, slower half, in typical Sawano fashion (APETITAN and many other songs do the same thing, fast arrangement of the track followed by a slower one of the same thing). And granted, from a Sawano only standpoint it might not be the most revolutionary composition from what we can tell so far, there’s lots of familiar elements, and I don’t think that, from a purely listening standpoint, I enjoy the track so far as much as some of his other recent snk work, but that’s not what I wanna focus on here.

The reason I’m kind of in love with the track is more about what it adds to snk’s total soundtrack so far, and how well it translates the uprising arc as well as the changes said arc brings to the series up until this point. 

Up until now, Sawano’s score, in my opinion at least, has always focused on a few key elements, the primary one of course being bombast, a sense of “epicness” and grandeur, and that’s reflected in a plethora of his tracks. Other prominent elements would be music with more emphasis on an emotional impact, and some of it going more in a chaotic/horror direction, with occasional uplifting and more casual pieces along the way. And frankly, it suits the series incredibly well. In both season 1 and 2, a majority of the conflicts were set around titan based action, which in themselves are already huge and bombastic elements, but add the emotional value of the characters involved, as well as the fact that the stakes are usually directly to prevent humanities extinction or worse, Sawano’s largely “epic”, large scale grand score fits incredibly well, sometimes going more emotional, sometimes more chaotic depending on the flow. 

But uprising changes the snk formula to some extent. Yes, technically our characters still fight for the future of mankind, and its still a battle of life and death, but its all less straightforward than before. Not only is there now an uncertainty of the enemies identity, they also come from within their own world, from the same situation they’re in, and also believing in their own cause--its less of a “fight to save the world” kind of thing, but more of a “fight to save your life and for our principles that will hopefully lead to a better future”. It’s more grey-ish than before, more uncertain. In addition, the danger literally comes from within their own world, from the very people they’re fighting for, which adds a whole new layer of insecurity and tension. The conflict isn’t as “easy” as it was once thought to be.

And this is where Kennys theme comes in and shines so much. Now, naturally, its still a track that feels unmistakably snk. We still have our “drops”, our percussion, our (fake) choir, which are all prominent elements in the existing score, and still gives it a feeling of epicness and whatnot. But at the same time, there’s a clear change in the formula. Lets look at the pv/kenny’s attack part first. One really notable thing is the speed of the track. Compared to many other pieces, it moves at a much quicker tempo than before; the choir is given a lot less time to breathe and feels more like it follows a fast moving, energetic and breathless rhythm, the piano and percussion and whatever else adds the sort of ticking effect (I’m bad at identifying instruments lol) continuously expresses a nail-biting tension, and the synths feel much more streamlined compared to their usually more chaotic appearances. The end result is an intense, fast paced and adrenaline fueled track that perfectly matches the high-speed intense 3dmgV3dmg battles we’ll be encountering this season, as well as the uncertainty behind them all. It’s still an unmistakably “epic” snk track, that, to me at least, feels a lot more visceral and intense rather than heroic like so many others.

I have don’t have too much to add to what I’m currently considering to be the “slower half” heard during the cabin escape. It’s slower and trades the majority of its bombast elements for something that almost purely expresses the aforementioned tension and intensity, and I love it. So far it seems as tho more and more elements are added to the track over time, really emphasizing its tensity, and the recurring strings add even a hint of mystery to it all. There’s even some sort of drop at the end that hammers it all home. 

All in all, I love this track it retains its typical core snk elements and blends wonderfully in the rest of the soundscape, while also heavily emphasizing the changes and new elements brought fourth by the story. Honestly, I can’t think of a better way to musically translate the uprising arc into the ongoing anime.

Unedited: The left side has only been cropped and set to 0,08 timing. I pretty much put all my gifs at that speed as i found it to be just the perfect amount, not too slow and not too fast either. I’ve also noticed that the coloring can change how the gif moves so i found that for my coloring this timing is just right.

Edited: The right side has been cropped, set to 0.08, colored, sharpened and denoised. I always do it in this order (although idk if it makes it any different) - Sharpen -> Denoise -> Unsharp mask (the UM depends on the gif and scenery itself bcs sometimes applying the same setting makes 2 different gifs in a same gifset look different). I always tend to do smaller gifs since i don’t always have my hands on the full 1080p HD versions of the episodes and making the gifs smaller makes them look sharper. Plus i’m not really good at making big gifs.

That’s pretty much my editing process, sometimes relaxing, sometimes in times like these when my PS crashes every 2 minutes it’s very frustrating and makes me want to quit lmao.

Someone on my dash just unironically called antidepressants "lobotomy pills," I'm........... like that's a terrible take and ppl should stop stigmatizing the fact that some people need to take medication to treat their mental illness and going back on SSRIs this last fall got me through this pandemic without a nightmarish relapse back into a living hell of sh and suicidal ideation, but also... that's SUCH a funny way to say that, like... imagine taking a pill and it somehow burrowing up into your brain and just scrambling stuff around. Uh oh, honey! This serotonin reuptake inhibitor severed the connection between my frontal lobes! Incredible.

I had plans for my week of holidays, I wanted to play my game and finally post something, I have a family event this weekend. Yeah, everything would be good if I didn't go down with the flu again. Curiosity

Tropical fish dart through shallow water. The sun warms the waves and they sparkle and splash like the dolphins that dance in the seafoam. Coral lingers beneath, bright, bold sculptures decades in the making. The current is strong and yet gentle, guiding inquisitive souls into the welcoming warmth of the reef. 

Solitude

Think of the deepest, hottest jungle ever to exist. You are standing in it. The trees are closing in from every side, walls of leaf and vine and thorn and moss. The bamboo grows quickly, you can hear the slithery-softness of leaves unfurling and roots burrowing beneath the dark soil. A snake, vibrant as the jungle around it, coils around a branch and watches you with blazing emerald eyes.
