uh-oh! i finished the name of the rose. unfortunately it was very good. i would like to tell my friends and neighbors about it but i cannot on account of i'm not smart enough. i want everyone to read it but not because i recommended it to them, so i can't recommend it to anyone. i think it's very possible my sister would be obsessed with this book but equally possible she would tear it into little pieces and eat them fifty pages in and never trust my taste in literature ever again. i read the first page of the afterword and loved it so much i had to go lie down. i'll forget everything about this book except that it was a masterpiece. i will never read it again.

#saving the rest of the afterword for tomorrow as a little present for myself #what's wild to me is that this is apparently one of the bestselling books OF ALL TIME?????#it's 500 pages long and a HIGH percentage of those pages are about catholic politics in the 14th century...#that or the book of revelations. also there's a *lot* of untranslated latin just left in the middle of sentences #this book is fucking nuts. i adore it. nobody read it because of me though #books #my posts #the name of the rose #me every time i read a book: would my sister like this? should i give this to my sister?#which is some kind of love language #also i just looked up umberto eco and learned he translated exercices de style into italian...#i've never wanted to read italian more than at this moment

'im gonna destroy you in this game son. every time until you learn not to lose so badly #but you will still lose. <3'#house gensa forever house rustazh foreverrr #klingonaase my darling i love you you're sooo latin coded #i really liked the singing and the idea of like gestures vaguely house gensa being three hundred kids with no formal houses or lines #to belong to. <- and so you will all be together. yayy new family!#i also liked the acknowledgment of like. other cultures existing on klinzhai (qo'nos) vulcans and orions living with klingons and such #this book really had it all im not done posting. theres more songs and looks at their food; daily life; clothing and how they decorate #houses. more examples of klingonaase lol of course cuss words and such. they also talk about battle language which if i'm not mistaken is #like clipped tlhIngan?#but they call it battle language and translate it for the reader. fun!#and of course the klingons end up on earth so theres insights on how they feel about coffee and human food. apparently the air on earth is #very thin and dry to them; every scene where they talk about klingon comfort standards they mention making it dark and humid and hot.#red lights and such! for inside #and they say the thin air on earth makes it hard to hear for klingons! i thought that was very cool #nobody:#me: they like salt water baths and dark ale and they wear silk and they eat pastries with butter. if you even care.#they mention human chair designs being uncomfortable for klingon anatomy too; there was a description i remember of house khemara #having cushions on the ground around a fireplace instead of chairs #its such a pretty description too; they have high ceilings and wooden beams along the roof and and sky lights for an indoor garden #iron railings for the staircases. mwah i love this book i really recommend it #theres something (gestures) here that reminds me very strongly of worf but i cant put my finger on it to be honest with you. not even like #the komerex zha specifically either like the vibes of the whole book.....

My Mom got legitimately angry at me for trying to learn Welsh because it “will never be useful/l, can’t learn without immersion and/or being a child, won’t help me get a job/learn for my career” so if you’re ever wondering why non-colonialist languages die not being able to commodify them is exactly why

Getting absolutely mad @ myself for never noticing how canon Wongstrange was before MoM.

How could I not even notice this:

They spend so much time together that they even have a favorite ice cream flavor!!

And no way is he referring to the whole of Kamar-Taj when he says “our”. Homeboy means he and Stephen spent multiple nights, maybe after poring over multiple books and spells, ranking Ben&Jerry’s ice cream flavors.

Maybe they were out in NY one day, Strange scoffing at a bus or a billboard with the ad for Stark raving hazelnut ice cream. Maybe Wong noticed and decided to buy a tub because, why not. Wizards can have a lil treat, sometimes.

-and I bet Strange is that type of doc who reads all of the nutrition facts and lists all the ways in which ice cream is bad for your health. Wong rolls his eyes and says it's good for the soul.

"Still, I don't like this flavor" insists Strange, just because it's Stark.

They settle on Hulk’s flavor after a particularly bad argument about what can and can’t be fixed with magic that lasts for a whole week. In the end Strange sets down a tub of Hunka Hulk of Burning Fudge, and maybe because they both have a super sweet tooth, maybe because they just want to agree on something and put the fight past them, they agree that it’s their favorite.

i need to get over myself and learn the languages i want to learn if i want to learn them like i just need to do it if i want to learn them then i should go out and learn them and like . fuck whatever else any of it means . yes it IS embarrassing to learn a language like the ones i want to learn as an adult but who CARES and yes i KNOW my grandparents will never want to speak to me in those languages but who CARES if it's important to me it can be important to me anyway

#had a moment last night bc i was apparently having an identity crisis which was random #but i had a moment where i was like well even if i learn all these languages no one in my family is going to want to speak to me #in those languages because of [insert reasons i don't need to go into here] and so ultimately none of this is like . cultural Really #it's just me wanting to feel as though i am connected to something when i will never be #and maybe that's true or maybe it isn't but if i want to learn them i should learn them anyway like . at the end of the day #i DO want to learn those languages and i think it would be interesting and i would love to be able to speak to people #in those languages even if the people i speak to aren't related to me and i would love to be able to speak languages that aren't english #and that all stays true even if i am not able to have the cultural connection through language with my own family #like i can go on and on about how disconnected i feel from my culture bc of everything that has ever happened in my life #but how i still feel alienated bc i'm Not White to white people and all of that is true but not learning a language doesn't make it #any better and maybe learning a language won't make it better either but i think it's a better use of my time #ALSO !!!!! NO ONE EVER GOES OH WHY WLD U LEARN FRENCH OR SPANISH [OR INSERT EUROPEAN LANG HERE] u have no real cultural connection to it!!!#so like why is it different bc i want to learn asian languages??? it's not! except in my head! or maybe irl too but i'm just saying #that i think i make all of this a much bigger deal than it has to be #that being said i did just try to look up classes and they r all for children and about keeping children culturally connected 2 their famil #l m f a o but that can't be ALL the classes ............. i'll work it out is what i'm saying and i need 2 get OVER myself #bc none of it is that deep and i can feel conflicted all i like but i should fucking DO smth about it at least #anyway i am posting this in the hopes that i can beat it into my own head bc i am sick and tired of being weird about learning #languages and i need 2 get over my weird cultural identity issues if i want to like . live a life where i don't want to explode and die

Do you guys ever think about how (as far as we know) c!Tubbo arguably made the right choice by deciding to never open up to c!Ranboo... Because c!Ranboo (when Enderwalking) retains all his memories and works alongside c!Dream anyway. So although c!Tubbo doesn't know it, his paranoia is actually keeping him safe, because the less info c!Ranboo knows the less he has the ability to tell c!Dream... Not that c!Ranboo necessarily would, but it sucks that like... c!Tubbo probably beats himself up for not wanting to share anything with his sweet and loyal husband, not even knowing that sharing the wrong stray detail about c!Tommy could have caused something disastrous. Like c!Tubbo was right to be a closed book and that shit hurts to think about!!!

#i need Ranboo to explain cRanboo so bad.#one of the only things i care about anymore. pls just tell me why a version of cRanboo with all his memories WHICH BTW #HIS MEMORIES WOULD INCLUDE THE DISC FINALE. Why that version of cRanboo would willingly help cDream.#Even IF cDream went ''oh i wasnt really gonna kill Tubbo it was staged also its good that New Lmanberg was exploded by me''#and even IF cRanboo wasnt told why the prison tnt needed to be set off & therefore didnt know hed be hurting cTommy #how could he work with someone who he knows has hurt cTubbo like that. i think i need a breakdown. just a small one. but my parents looked weird at me when i wouldn't stop sobbing after watching braveheart so like. guess not. great film tho, absolutely amazing, and i am very emotional about it it's wonderful

#Apparently I'm Gnostic?#Who knew #Like I've literally said that the creator of life cannot be wholly good/loving AND all-powerful AND all-knowing. Any 2 but not all 3.#And felt crazy and alone for saying it #Which drove me away from most any organized religion/faith except my very limited understanding of Buddhism #But viewing the Creator god and the like ultimate Divine as seperate entities makes it possible to trust the ultimate one #Which is a conclusion I had sort of come to on my own using different language #But seeing it actually articulated is...interesting #Like I wouldn't call the creator evil. More like misguided maybe? I hold that no being is truly evil though they may do terrible things #That whole “he's doing his best” part definitely fits. Although I often resent that he hasn't called off the whole thing by now.#Anyway #Yay heresy #Wikipedia rabbithole #Gnosticism
