No, he's not bugging me!! I like talking to him. It was his birthday recently and I sent him a lot of stuff and maybe possibly lied to him about how I found out when his birthday is.

Also, one time I made a pillow for him that was the shape of his Gym Logo, and I found it's more of a Vivillon than a Butterfree. :]

Nicolas was one of the characters that I very much latched onto when I very first read the books - in fact, Lestat/Nicki was my first ship before I read QOTD and I always found the lack of utilisation of him in fandom really disheartening. I even got my hopes up when Lestat couldn't find him in Memnoch but so sad that he's one of the only constants to remain dead. I understand that's part of the tragedy of him, but I guess I thought if the others from the era get their shot at a life after, he ought to as well.

Trying to balance Nicki's difficulties - Lestat saying joy was hard for him is such a sucker punch because of how frequently in TVL Lestat draws lines between Nicki running his mouth or making a show compared to genuine feeling and how he can see the difference in his face - while showing that I suspect some of the worst of his early vampire mania came from the absolute trauma conga line that preceeded his being made into one is not the easiest, but I hope I'm managing.

I think once he got past his own sense of betrayal and managed to settle himself with the trauma if not deal with it, it wouldn't be all that different to Armand which makes their interactions fascinating to me. They are both dealing with a percieved sense of betrayal and their world view being thrust upside down at the same time and I think Armand did the best he could given the state he was in, but they deserved a chance to rebuild. Especially given Nicki's known for being acerbic and not holding back when I think Armand needs a sense of harshness because the softness, the pity, the compassion of the others is just not something he can deal with at that point. He's too raw.

I do have parts of the next bit written but I want to get it right because Nicki meeting Louis has been something I've wanted to do a for a long time.

This is also a reminder that I really need to give that AU a name now there's a few things in it.

George would befriend Linus (the old man living in the mountains) within the first season. he teaches George how to make sushi and maki and he makes them for Dream during lunch in between her farming and gathering produce

Dream absolutely loves the Flower Fest and has asked and danced with every single person (male and female!) in town. She was surprised when George was the one to ask her during her first year in Pelican town. (and she says yes!)

Dream likes Sebastain at first. they had a connection, working at home, not being taken seriously with their coding jobs, but she realizes that they were better as friends and he helps her with some MC coding during the early days before she reached out to George (new gal in town that has a CS degree) when her mc challenges got harder and harder

not that its a secret or anything but a new comfort character that has entered the spotlight is Quest from Blooming Panic. biiiig comfort character. by big comfort character i mean, im beginning to know him and his route just as well as i learned Nicky's from Fictif. i think maybe I'd like to write some nice comfort fics with him eventually. im lowkey kinda feelin in my soft writing era. I also made a BP mc named BanJo. I've never written oc x canon, but perhaps i will. i adore my little Jo sm.

I'm gonna be real honest, my hyperfixation on Nicky has faded lately. he'll always hold a special place in my heart for getting me through some tough times, but that being said, im not sure if I'll ever be able to finish the most recent nsfw fic ive written of him. i tried to write a fic for him for his birthday, but the inspiration just never came :( i might still draw Nicky from time to time, but this may be the end of an era.

since theres not much else to share about that mournful admission, I'll talk about some more individual things ive been working on! im working on a Mothman cryptid romance rn, and boy is it hard to get through the beginning. its just so tedious and boring to set everything up when i know what the good parts are gonna be! my goal this year is to power through it, but for now im very very stuck on the beginning, so here's a snippet of our main character settling into a new home they swear is temporary :) im particularly proud of how it shows the poetic way the Mc views the world and its beautiful contradictions

The walls were a plain shiny wood complimented with bouquets of dried flowers hanging from hooks.

I think my favorite is the one hanging directly above the fireplace. It consisted of the most vibrant lavender, daisies, and various wildflowers. I’ve never seen lavender so delicate and passionate about its appearance, as if it had spent an entire lifetime getting ready for display. Daisies with such sunny middles, brought out by the eggshell white skirt of petals surrounding it. Wildflowers so wild and carefree, yet perfect, in their organized disorganization. So vivid in color and form that I could almost smell the flowers and see them dancing in the wind, as if they were still connected to their warm damp mother Earth that had nurtured them. Despite all of this, they had clearly been there for years upon years. And I wanted to know where those flowers came from.

I can cook, I just don't like doing it at lunch time. Any cooked lunches always take over 30 minutes. Dinner and breakfast, though? I always make the same breakfast (which takes 15m) and I've got all night to wait for dinner.
