that hronir trans positive spanking book being a fake is a bummer but it has left me with a governess fetish and I can't stop thinking about it so that's cool I guess -_- that book is going to haunt me it's so. as a historical object of the 90s it's still so much like even if it's stylistically anachronistic it's balanced by being just so beautifully and intelligently written, and like. the first chapter, the triple goddess? like the author of this text in the 90s was either having soo much fun or genuinely wanted to promulgate a religious element to female domination rooted in Frazer's Golden Bough. and I think it's honestly the latter, just given how often she returns throughout the text to it. theres some really interesting stuff about goddess channeling.
also though like. idk. it's kinda like the house of leaves of spanking. the fake intro suggests the religious elements were shared with kerr-sutherland, the fictional author, by another guy who was a spiritualist etc at the time. and like. idk. it's neatly done how you can sort of read another voice into the sections on religion. the way the intro handles the story about how only one copy survived is really fun also like.
idk it's a good piece of fiction and its a good fake historical text. it's fun. it's interesting as a historical text of the 90s, seeing how fetishism, the archaic revival, and transness intersected.

I'm reading a book named "A Guide to The Correction of Young Gentlemen Or, The Successful Administration Of Physical Discipline To Males, By Females" - essentially, a fantasy femdom BDSM book, written in 1924 by Alice Kerr-Sutherland but first published in 1991.
It has some genuinely fascinating stuff to say about gender, and I feel like it's worth looking at/thinking about in the context of Historical Gender Stuff. This 100 year old book has the following to say:
"The truth is that some young gentlemen would rather they had been born young ladies: they cannot admit this openly, because in the male world to confess as much would lead to instant ostracism if not worse; but they cannot conceal it either, and by preferring the company of girls, and soft, feminine clothing, and by flinching during the rough pursuits to which all boys, willing or no, are occasionally heirs, they attract opprobrium."
"Such boys weep too readily for their fellows' tastes - weeping is a great crime among boys unless it is generally admitted that circumstances left little choice - and are hounded for that reason."
"Just as there are girls who had rather been boys - we all know examples of the type - there are boys who, in a kinder world, would have been born into the gender more suited to their dispositions."
"Many young people of this sort are riven with a guilt they do not deserve but have been forced, by the conventions of society, to adopt; they are confused, ashamed and thoroughly unhappy."
"The ideal thing to do would be to treat these cases on their merits, send them to girls' schools, and so on. (The same thing should happen with those girls who would rather be young gentlemen.) Boys of this sort are girls in any case-in all respects save one."
"Most subjects of this sort have a secret name - a girl's name."

I lived on Randolph Street, with my sister, Virginia, she was a year younger than me, my parents Adele and Douglas, my grandparents Fred and Alice, and my trusty dog Saddle. We lived spitting distance from the Catholic Church, the priest's rectory, the nun's convent, the St Rose of Lima Grammar School, all of it, just a football's toss away, across the field of wild grass. I literally grew up surrounded by God. Surrounded by God... and my relatives. 'Cause we had cousins and aunts and uncles and grandmas and grandpas and great grandmas and great grandpas, all of us were jammed into five little houses on two adjoining streets. And when the church bells rang, the whole clan would hustle up the street to stand witness to every wedding and every funeral that arrived like a state occasion in our little neighborhood.
- Bruce Springsteen, Springsteen on Broadway at Walter Kerr Theatre, New York City, 2018.
