Infinite Blue Theories

Alright, we got the green light on theory-posting, so it is a-ok to whip out my corkboard and talk about some theories I have about Infinite Blue. After playing through the Infinite Blue demo several hundred times and basically researching my little heart out, I've been left with some thoughts and theories that I want to throw out into the world to see what other people think. Let's start with the stuff that has caught my eye first:

Trailer Lyrics:

Tobias: "Feel the weight, the pressure to win. A wink, a nudge, a threatening grin."

Rory: "And one more job, that's what they all say."

Brooklyn: "Take it from the boss, (with Alexei), your loss is their gain."

Milo: "Every scrape, every scrap won't be clean."

Rory: "That's exactly why you gotta be mean."

Leo: "Before you know it, you're swept in the tide."

Tobias: "No choice but to let it ride."

K: "I've heard enough of these useless excuses. I know your fruitless abuse of the truth is..."

Several of the main six: "Respect the hustle."

My big questions:

Who are the main six really?

This one is difficult to answer because even though we know quite a bit about the main boys from the demo and asks (occupations, hobbies, ages, etc.), there is also a lot we don't know about them as well. With no information, my gut instinct would be that they're all just perfectly normal dudes who somehow got mixed up with this app business, but all of the stuff listed above makes me pause. In the last chat of the demo, K pops in and says to the MC: "Did you forget the kind of people that you're talking to?" When you combine that with the fact that the lyrics of the trailer song mention "one last job" and "respect the hustle", it seems to indicate that the main six have secrets or perhaps are into some not-so-great activities. This leads me into a couple trains of thought:

Perhaps the main six are in on some kind of con or heist together? It would put a lot of the song's lyrics into context and depending on if K is also in on the con/heist, it would also put his comment into context as well. If we look at the group, it's a pretty good Ocean's 11 set-up: Brooklyn has money and prestige; Tobias has money and fame; Milo has access to loads of info through the security feeds;  Alexei is incredibly smart and has access to scientific equipment/possibly classified information; and Rory and Leo? Well, they don't quite fit, but both work in common gathering places that would potentially make them good at gathering secrets? If we're running with this theory, maybe the heist is set to take place during the big storm that's been heavily foreshadowed and meeting and/or falling for the MC throws a wrench in the boys' plans? I'm not 100% sold on this theory, which leads me to theory

Maybe the main six are being blackmailed by someone or multiple someones? This could go with the heist/con theory, but they could also be being blackmailed for other things (money, information, favors, etc). It would fit with the reluctance I think several characters have in the trailer song. The blackmailer could be K, but I could also see the blackmailer being someone different on each route as well. If it is someone different on each route, where does that leave K?

Who is K and what is K's relationship with the boys and/or the MC?

K is a bit of an enigma. At the moment, we don't know much about him beyond the fact that he wears glasses, like sweets/candy, and he has access to the same chat room as the main boys, if the demo is any indication. He also knows who the boys are, confirmed by his chat in the demo where he mentions seeing all of them throughout the day, but none of them happen to notice him.

I want to circle back to the line that K says to the MC at the end of the demo: "Did you forget the kind of people that you're talking to?" and his line during the trailer song: "I've heard enough of these useless excuses. I know your fruitless abuse of the truth is..." What does this mean exactly?

To me, it seems like K may either be their employer in this hypothetical heist or have a vendetta against the main six. I'm leaning towards the latter. He seems to alternate between treating them with contempt (trailer song) and watching them analytically (him commenting on the main six joining in the scavenger hunt by saying "This will be interesting").

An alternative to being a blackmailer or having a vendetta could be that K is running some kind of social experiment involving the boys and this app? That would fit with his analytical nature and why he seems to be keeping a distance from the boys (better to observe the experiment from a distance!). Also, worth noting that he says "I suppose it's more interesting this way" in reference to MC getting closer with the boys. Very behavioral scientist of you, K. 🤔

Last guess: Maybe K is some kind of investigator with a grudge against the main six? No evidence for this one per se, but I think it would be neat and could work.

How does the MC fit into this? It's possible that they're just a random person who got caught up in this completely by chance, but I have another theory. What if the MC is working with K? Why else would K say "Did you forget the kind of people that you're talking to?" to the MC if the MC didn't already know what kind of people K thinks the main six are? I think maybe K recruited the MC to help with whatever his plans, but the MC falling for one of the main six is gonna throw a wrench in those plans. It would be really interesting if maybe the MC wanted revenge against the main six and joined up with K, but ended up falling for them instead. The angst, the drama, the heartbreak.

Anyway, these are my half-coherent, tossed together at the last minute theories, so anyone has any corrections or theories they want to add, please feel free to do so! Thank you to Velvet Fox Games for giving me something to hyperfixate on in my scant free time!

tl;dr: Office AU + Tobias really, really, REALLY thinks the team should try out some ghost hunting for a fall team-building activity. Apparently he’s got some history with some ghosts.

Halloween

*Shhhh…pretend I actually posted this on Halloween.*

Halloween morning/couples costumes:

Leo: Very excited about getting to spend his first Halloween with you. Pulls out matching skeleton onesies for you both to wear around the house. You both decorate the apartment with pumpkins and ghost lanterns as he puts on his spooky music playlist. He helps you decorate cookies that he’ll give as treats to his friends. Will be more of a distraction than any help though because he takes about a hundred photos of you and pulls you away to dance with him every song that comes on. Steals kisses and cookies when you least expect it. Has a pile of dvds ready for you to watch. Makes you hot chocolate with tons of marshmallows and makes popcorn too for you both to enjoy as you snuggle in the pillow fort he made.

Couples costume: Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask.

Rory: Will call off work/have someone take his shift at the library to spend the whole day with you. Wakes up early to make you breakfast. Makes waffles for you in a skeleton shaped waffle maker and makes a fruit and vegetable charcuterie board where he makes the fruits and veggies look like little pumpkins, spiders and ghost. Basically spends half the day in the kitchen because he ends up helping you make apple cider. Sits with you at the dining table drawing cute spooky little characters to put in the candy bags you are making for trick or treaters. Will watch scary movies with you so he has an excuse to sit close to you and if you get to scared, he’d be more than fine with you needing to hold his hand or hide your face in his chest. He’ll blush and try to act unbothered by it while pulling you even closer to him.

Couples costume: Peter Pan and Tinker Bell.

Milo: Doesn’t really care about doing much for the day, he’s fine just spending it alone with you. Will pick up Halloween themed donuts from a bakery nearby and buys you one of those fancy tumblers that’s decorated with cute little black cats in witches hats. He lets you sleep in when he gets back and he’ll sit on the couch and flip through the channels on tv to occupy himself. Chuckles at your disheveled bed hair when you finally wake up. He’ll tell you he bought you some treats and nods to the kitchen. He can tell you are happy by the way you practically skip out the room. You return a moment later, one hand clutching your cup and the other a donut covered in green sprinkles as you plop down beside him. Purposely puts on a horribly rated slasher film to watch with you. And he almost…almost wants to tell you about the amount of sprinkles covering your face but chooses to leave you and sprinkle covered face alone for his own amusement.

Couples costume: Aragorn and Arwen.

Brooklyn: Delighted to share in Halloween festivities with you. Brings you breakfast in bed and a huge bouquet of dark colored flowers, an array of roses in black and orange intricately woven together with fake spiders and cobwebs decorating them and a skeleton hand brooch. Makes tea for you both in matching mugs in the shape of pumpkins. Will hand you yours and press a kiss to your forehead as he settles in the bed next to you. Spends the morning watching black and white films before getting up and decorating the outside of his mansion. Definitely buys more than enough candy, he’ll have to be very generous when handing it out unless he wants to store bags of it for next year. Tries to get you to keep a few bags for yourself.

Couples costumes: Gomez and Morticia.

Tobias: Looking forward to showing you off and having fun with you. Determined to scare you at least once before the days over. Waits for the perfect moment where he knows your guard will be down and he’ll get the reaction he’s hoping for. Is extra affectionate to not raise suspicion. Once you get up, he’s jumping off the couch and pulling out this deformed bloody mask he picked up on the way home. He kept it in the bag the whole time because it freaks him even just looking at the thing. But, he slips it on and waits in hiding. He listens for your footsteps, jumping out in front of you screaming “Boo!” Laughs at the way you scream and jump in front of him, it has him laughing so hard he’s doubling over. Feels a little bad when he notices your pouting face as you poke him in the chest and call him mean. He takes the mask off and pulls you in for a hug as he kisses your cheek. He says he’ll make it up to you and he’ll make candy apples with you. He thinks that’s enough to make amends but he’s wrong. You’ll get him back for this, you’ll make him sit and watch the scariest films you can think of to freak him out.

Couples costume: Joker and Harley Quinn.… or Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf.

Alexei: Very happy to partake in any Halloween traditions you have. Will carve pumpkins and tell you about the history of Halloween. He’ll sip on the pumpkin spice latte you made even though he’s not very fond of sweet things, but will still try it simply because you made it. Wears the Halloween themed sweater you got for him that he plans to wear to work and let’s you take pictures of him in it despite his excessive blushing and awkward posing. Takes a couple of minutes to cuddle with you on the couch before he has to leave. Gives you the jack o lantern shaped plushie he bought to keep you company until he returns homes. Kisses you sweetly and is a bit sad about having to leave for work so early but knows once he’s off he’ll get to spend the rest of the day with you.

Couples costume: Wirt and Sara.

The Infinite Blue brain-rot has been heavy these last few weeks. Finally wrote something despite it being months later after discovering the demo back in June. 🥲

And yes, Tobias gets two costume choices because I couldn’t decide and I’m not sure if Milo would watch LOTR with me willingly but if not, I’d try to force him to for the sole purpose of getting him to dress as Aragorn for me.

Also, I know Peter Pan and Tinker Bell aren’t a couple but… Rory as Peter would be VERY cute and I personally would rather dress as Tinks than Wendy 🙈 I know I’d really have to beg Rory to dress up as Peter for me though 😭 but damn it Rory we’d look so cute and the sad part is I know I’d only get one decent picture of him.

And Leo! Leo my beloved! Cutest boi/best boyfriend. 100 percent down for the couples costume choice. It’s not enough for me to want to dress up as Sailor Moon, I need Leo Roselund to dress up as Tuxedo Mask with me too! I think we’d win cutest couple/best couple costume award too if we went somewhere that had a costume competition or something.

I think Brooklyn would also like the 1968 Romeo and Juliet as a couples costume choice and Alexei I really struggled trying to think of something for him but thought about how cute he’d look as Wirt from OTGW.

Infinite Calligraphy

I put a lot of thought into these. Lol 😂

As mentioned in my previous post, Old English Text reminds me of Brooklyn. 💚 (Looking at it now, it seems like the paper I used for Brooklyn's name is different from the rest. Lol idk what my camera did why it's bright like that 😅)

I used Jane Austen's penmanship for Rory because... books and he's a romantic, right? ❤️

I had a hard time picking Alexei's font because all I know about him is he's super into science stuff. Then I remembered Leonardo Da Vinci and how he's the quintessential renaissance man and a polymath and I thought, that would suit our resident genius. 💛 (You can try looking at it using a mirror for fun 😊)

D&D reference that I'm not sure he'd like, for Leo. I googled what the Dwarven Axe was and it was kinda cool and the font is too so I went for it. 💙

Milo and Pasta equals Pasta Script. It was kinda hard because of the loops and all that's happening on the letters and I messed up a bit lol (tangled spaghetti) but thankfully it doesn't look that bad. Sorry Milo. 💜

And of course, what else would I use for Mr. Fox? Fox Tail Regular. Hehe 😎🧡
