My favourite part about RITE HERE RITE NOW was when everyone sat there in the dark for a moment after the last scene and someone then blurted "YOU MOTHERFUCKERS"

Made the mistake (choice?) of going to a networking event for work this evening. It was kind of poorly attended, and because it was at a local university, I ended up chatting with a bunch of students, which...would be fine, I guess. Except that it wasn't.
One of these students sees my name tag, and says "Oh, I've applied for a bunch of jobs there. They keep turning me down."
I express polite interest, as one does, and flannel a little bit about just because you're not the best candidate doesn't mean that you're a bad one. (We're a big organization. We hire for all kinds of things.) The student doesn't seem to be hearing what I'm saying and keeps complaining about this.
Except during the course of this conversation, it occurs to me that I do know him, and I do remember that he was a candidate for one of our jobs, and I do remember having a conversation with my team member about hiring him. I remember this because he emailed afterwards asking what would have made him a better candidate, and we gave him...half of an honest answer. We told him we would have liked to see more cash handling experience, which was true, and which (I am learning) he took very poorly because 'you can teach that in five minutes.'
True story. We can teach that in five minutes. However, in three minutes I've figured out that this kid has all the pleasant personality of a wet dishrag, and I've now remembered that was a VERY deciding factor about why we didn't hire him, because I cannot teach you how to be nice to people. I also remember talking about something he said during the interview about being at his job for some time and not seeking out additional responsibilities or learning anything new, and indeed turning down opportunities to do more. If you're complaining about being a bagger, but you've also never tried to learn how to be a cashier, and share openly in an interview that you 'didn't want that responsibility,' please know that might reflect badly on you when you apply for a job where selling things is a huge part of the role.
Also, the entire conversation has been him complaining at me. Which is a great first impression to make with someone.
Anyway, the moral of this story is that everyone should have a way to spin themselves in interviews, I will never look down on anyone who's worked retail unless you look down on yourself, and being pleasant is not a secret requirement for customer service.
Anyway, the two people we hired instead are working out great, and that's an hour of my life I won't get back but at least I had some cheese and crackers.

Oh, that was dumb.
So I am not the world's best car owner, and for a long time, my oil got changed at whatever place was nearest and cheapest and I didn't really get anything else inspected or tuned up. (This is Bad. Do not be me.)
Anyway, now that my car has a garage to live in, I have decided I should start having a 'regular' car place. Which is where I went this morning to get my oil changed.
...except I forgot to make an appointment. Bless them, they are trying to fit me in today because my brakes are making noise, but now I'm at home stewing in anxiety because I made more work for them on a Friday and I have a scout program tonight.

My babies are home!!!
Yesterday was busy and I didn’t have time to post but we brought the kitties home! They are both so sweet! Blade, the all black bobtail, is so shy but the sweetest boy once he warms up. Peia, omg she’s 100% going to be my little wild child. But at the same time she LOVES snuggling and attention.
They’re settling in nicely and getting more curious to explore outside of the room. But since we have two standard poodles we’re letting all the animals adjust for a bit before we do any introductions.
The kittens are currently in our room since it’s the biggest room but I’m thinking of moving my daughter’s turtle tank into the living room since this was the original plan, we just didn’t have anywhere to put it. But we got our new dresser so we were able to move our TV onto it and move my bookshelf out. Now we can put the tank on the bookshelf.
I just didn’t want the kittens messing with the turtle tank while it was on the floor in my daughter’s room. But it might be better to move them into her room for now because our poodles are so used to sleeping in our room at night that they were so stressed out last night. They eventually calmed down once we moved their beds into our son’s room, but I don’t want to disrupt their routine too much, especially since Ahri has always been a more anxious dog.
We’ll figure it out. The dogs grew up around 3 cats so it’s just more getting them used to new kittens in the house and learning to be a bit more gentle with them while they’re still so little. Blade and Peia both were fostered around dogs so they’re good too.
I’m just so excited to finally have cats in our lives again. They are the sweetest little kittens and I already love both of them so much!

Athens, Greece - Jun 6, 2025
Some Thoughts:
a. Athens! This is a city I have always wanted to visit and I was so excited to see my sisters again. Our AirBNB was in Veikou, right next to the Acropolis, and was lovely. We walked through much of our neighborhood and Plaka and it was obviously very tourist-y but very charming.
b. Actually, one of the first things we did after reuniting was visit Handra to make charm bracelets. This was a tiktok thing but I loved choosing the charms and it was so fun to have a themed bracelet for our sister trip. Mine has a 'C' for Caity, two evil eye charms, a shell, and a greek coin on it. I'm actually still wearing it lol
c. We then did a "birthday" dinner for me at the Zillers Rooftop Garden, which had a great view of the Acropolis. The entire dinner was delightful but my favorite bites were the starter served on the coral and the warm crusty bread.
d. The Acropolis and the Parthenon is really All That. Incredible. A complete bucket list visit. We were in line at 7:30 am with 8 am tickets though, and I think that's the only way to beat the summer heat and get good pictures. The place was mobbed by 9 am so we slowly left to go to the museum.
e. Visiting the Olympics Stadium was a must-do for me and my sisters because we have been obsessed with the FOUR HOUR LONG miniseries The First Olympics: Athens 1896 since we were kids and it was filmed in the stadium itself. We spent the entire time going "that's where [David Caruso] did [this]!" and quoting homoerotic poetry at each other. BTW the entire show is up on youtube here, and it is very of the time (the 80's) but also very worth a watch.
f. Overall, I wish we spent a little more time in Athens. But we enjoyed what we saw and now I have an excuse to come back.

I've been tossing this idea around for a hot minute (already long before I fell into my creative slump). I kind of want to have a place, like an archive of sorts, for all my gifs.
So, I created a sideblog for that!
You can find all my new gifs over at @voidsmischief
I will reblog them here too, but just fyi. Maybe I'll see you over there. :)
