I keep thinking about how the "progressive" attitude about safe spaces, trigger warnings, self-censorship, all the things that went with it... even just the unnameable, ineffible quality that is permeated within every one of those social groups.

I joined tumblr when I was 13, and I really wanted to "be part of a good group". Lo, here is a group that is claiming they are good, and anyone criticizing them for specific things is BAD, BAD, EVIL, CONSERVATIVE.

So fucking "Us vs. Them".

Until you find yourself on the "Them" side, and you believe that you're on the "Us" side, and they won't admit it. So you're bitter for a few years until you realize it doesn't matter at all. Life is not divided between liberal and conservative. People are people, regardless of whatever they label themselves. Good to remember.

Anyways, I always think it's funny how nowadays so many progressives make fun of that fragile-skinned attitude, "omg how dare you criticize me for anything, I am literally mentally disabled polyana horsekin queer glassgender. I notice how I kind of treat my tumblr like a billboard, instead of a forum discussion with other exterior people.

I mean... my own posts. I just tend to yell out.... and some people in my life have told me they admire this quality in myself. I believe in balance, though. The internet is such a strange place. Pretending to be alone, but not alone.

That's something I notice within the culture of youth politics on tumblr. People get so obsessed with defining "what they are for", "what they are against", that they forget what brought them to the moment to be able to even think about anything at all in the world: Life. It is change itself.

No one can stay the same.

Maybe they grow in a different pattern than you would expect; but if they are alive, they grow or wane.

I also just like to go back and read my blog. I like to entertain myself.

I could talk forever, endlessly, about why I have done what I've done, or why I do what I do, or why I will do something in the future.... but it isn't the same as doing it. A picture is worth a thousand words.

That "Horsekin things" post I reblogged got me thinking a little more about that line about dogs.

I've never been as much of a "dog person" as I am a "cat person". For whatever reason I really don't get that same immediate gut feeling of "OMG DANGER" from large felines as I do from large canines. Obviously that would change in a literal face-to-face situation with a real, dangerous wild animal. I also still believe animals such as lions, bobcats, and even small Wildcats are not "UWU SOFT BABIES". I maintain a healthy respect for wild animals that can and will fuck your shit up. But growling and especially barking territorial and/or aggressive dogs set off immediate NOPE! For me.

I will romp and play with all the friendly dogs but once they get especially loud in a less friendly way it's like "Please stop!" ones I'm wary of I cannot help thinking "Oh please do NOT attack me!"

I've never actually had any particularly bad experiences with dogs in my life. No serious bites or attacks. And I'd never hate an entire species for the actions of one individual even if that was the case. I've had plenty of what most people would call a negative experience with lots of different animals that would make the average person hold a lifelong grudge and I'm not like that. I've even had at least 4 wonderful dogs growing up and would trade almost anything to spend time with them again. But at the same time noisy, strange dogs are just "NO!" creatures.

Even weirder epecially small breeds and species ( such as foxes) don't even set it off. Totally neutral feelings about them.

Canines are wonderful animals and their wild counterparts deserve all the respect and protection they can get. It's been really cool seeing wild coyotes driving at night. Or getting to hear 3+ of them yapping off in the distance. Wild species are vital to our ecosystems and dogs really are fantastic companions! But I still get that illogical fear and sometimes annoyance with them. It's not crippling so it's not a phobia. It just exists in the moment and I have to deal with it. In all honesty I feel shitty and guilty about having such mixed emotions towards dogs for just doing what they do. It's frustrating. I hate it.

The only thing I can think of to blame it on is just being something a pack of wolves would prey on?

While I struggle with expressions due to autism, but I also feel like without ears I'm missing half of how I would show emotions.

I definitely was more of a horsekin when I was younger and its defintely carried over despite me not really feeling connected to horses as much now. They are so expressive with how they change the directions of their ears if they feel playful or threatened or tired.

The floppy ears of of my kin now still move and show emotion as well as having a tail that I also feel is key and not having them really feels wrong.
