The Legend of Asriel PART 0 | INDEX

i should start by saying both Chara and Frisk go by they/them pronouns. most of the time i feel fine enough leaving that unstated, but considering frisk is gerudo and chara’s got a cute little braid, it bears clarification right out of the gate.

with that out of the way, welcome to what will hopefully be a rare example of consistent content output from me for a little while! more under the cut.

soooooo a while ago i made a Rather Nice If I Do Say So Myself drawing of a zelda/undertale crossover. i then proceeded to sit on it for a while, throwing ideas around to work it into a more proper story. as you do. and now i am Prepared to unleash it upon the world.

it’s not gonna be a proper fanfic or comic or anything, i don’t really have the time or energy for that, but it’s still a story i want to tell, so! i’m gonna write up a series of posts like this explaining the plot with a mix of mini-comics, doodles, and just plain Explaining What Happens.

i have this marked as part 0 because, while most posts will be focusing specifically on some single event or area going through the imaginary “game” that this au is about, i wanted to introduce our Main Characters right out of the gate! i’ll get more in-depth with their backstories in the story proper, but for now, here they are!

Frisk is a 12-year-old Gerudo child who, after a series of events involving a sandstorm and a ghost, finds themself on an epic quest to save the kingdom of Hyrule! They’ve been profoundly deaf since birth and communicate exclusively through sign language and writing. Also, distressingly fast to figure out new weapons.

Chara is dead. That’s it! They’re a corpse. Okay yeah they’re a ghost who only Frisk can seem to see or interact with, who doesn’t remember how they died but seems reasonably certain it was in some kind of epic battle. When they meet, Chara agrees to act as Frisk’s interpreter so they can understand when people are talking to them, in exchange for Frisk helping them look for their AWOL friend/prince/brother.

I’ve already got a couple more posts written up which I’ll post on... some kind of a schedule, hopefully one which gives me enough time to write more without running out. As they come, I’ll update the section below to link to all relevant material in order! Thanks for reading!

Trying to psyche myself up to post a long oneshot I've been tweaking since July

Four fandoms that have piqued your interest?

Fruits Basket has me in a vice grip and won't let go. It makes me angry sometimes but I adore it and think it is a masterpiece even if it's thematically and charachter wise shot in the foot sometimes. Not only my special interest and something I have an immense emotional connection to BUT ALSO I have a connected special interest in one of the characters specifically so strong in gets to be it's own thing. I will die in this hole.

Revolutionary Girl Utena babey!!! My other fave late 90's shoujo about magical metaphors for cycles of power and abuse. It's aged better than Furuba and generally handles its content and story really well. It may be my second fave but as a weird little gay that cares more about themes and meaning than plot I jive with it a lot. Listen it's a story about gender and corrupt systems and breaking cycles of abuse with flower symbolism and lesbians, this shit was tailor made for me. Anthy is my love and Utenthy are my fave messy sapphics and I like the ending actually.

I have been in the void of pain that is Houseki no Kuni for years. I have not had a constructive thought about it in ages and am just watching it in fascination. I will probably become active in fandom again when I know how it ends. I mained cairnphos before the reveal and Phos is my fave so you can imagine how I'm doing.

Tangled the Series is good actually. Cassandra is a lesbian and Disney accidentally made one of the best sapphic ships ever in a princess spinoff made for little kids. Mean sword lady hot.

How has the pandemic been treating you? 

Currently stuck in a survival mode where I'm just resigned and remain as productive as possible to avoid spiraling. I really want to see people and go places again but I've actually befriended most of my online friends since March so that's a bonus.

Highschool senior but also I've exclusively taken classes at a community college since I was 15. I want to be a storyboard artist.

I have sensory issues so neither I like it at 70 and 70 only. More tolerance for heat though because again, yee haw

Name one fact others may not know about you. 

People from Twitter know this but I'm actually mixed Blackfoot (Native American that is). A lot of people don't guess it or don't believe me because I'm pretty white passing but I've grown up around the culture and it's a big part of my identity. I'm hoping that I'll get to learn more now I'm 18 because there was like this weird pact made that I had to be raised Catholic until adulthood (didn't work btw, I fought it for years and finally mostly got out at age 16.)
