Valen-time 04: Welcome Home(Rise! Donnie x Reader)

A/N, not important: The ending made me want to die but that's okay. Sorry these are all so short, I'm doing these in between a lot of personal stuff I have to get done. Any criticism is welcome, constructive or not. This is supposed to be a gender neutral reader, so if I screwed up somewhere, please tell me.

The lair is silent when you finally arrive, your travel bag slung over your shoulder as you quietly make your way through the area. Splinter was passed out on his chair, his loud snores masking any noise your footsteps made. Seeing the lights in Donnie's lab off made you feel better, knowing he wasn't staying up too late working on whatever his brain came up with next. His brothers had constantly reported his bad sleep schedule to you while you were away, causing you to worry more than usual. 

You carefully make your way into your boyfriend's room, his quiet snores making you smile as he lies in bed. His blankets were mostly on the floor, only one small corner fighting for its life to stay atop his stomach. You carefully pick the blanket up and cover his sleeping form before shoving your bag in a corner. As much as you wanted to climb in with him right now, you knew you should get changed first.

You dig through your bag and find your pajamas, moving into the bathroom to get dressed. You fumble slightly, trying your best not to trip over your own feet in the dark of his room.

Once changed, you carefully slide in next to him, just watching him breathe for a moment and taking him in. He was gorgeous, his face peaceful and happy. You couldn't help but fall deeper in love as you laid there, especially after being gone for a week. Seeing him again was the highlight of your day, wanting nothing more than to inch your way into his arms and stay there forever. You gently wrap your arms around him, melting into his side and letting your forehead rest against his shoulder. It was nice, being so close to the one you loved. Your heart was on fire and you never felt happier.

You shift his arm slightly so you could move closer into his side, panic and regret immediately flooding you as he starts to squirm in his sleep. Caught like a deer in headlights, his eyes meet yours, the sleep and dark taking him a moment to focus.

"(Y/n)?" He mumbles, pulling you closer to his chest. He nuzzles his snout against your cheek, smiling softly as you wrap your arms around his middle. "When'd you get back?"

"Just a few minutes ago." You whisper, settling against him and letting your eyes close. He was warm, and safe. His arms were keeping you pressed against him, barely giving you any leeway to move. It was just how you both liked it, wrapped together and unable to fall apart in your sleep. "I didn't mean to wake you."

He grunts softly, pressing his face into my neck and breathing deeply. "You should've. I missed you. I missed this."

You smile at his admission, kissing the crown of his head while slowly beginning to rub the back of his neck. Neither of you had been apart this long in a while, so you knew he'd be a bit clingy for a while. Not like you were complaining, having him close was wonderful. Leaving his side, if only for a small amount of time, was never fun. He was your rock, your safety net. Life was too bleak without his snarky comments and fun facts to chase away the dullness.

“I’m glad you were sleeping,” You say softly, his slight chuckle vibrating against the skin of your neck. He squeezes you gently, shifting one of his legs in between yours to knot you both together.

“Mikey and Leo hid my matcha. I couldn’t stay up after the initial caffeine crash,” He admits. The statement made you sigh. You could feel the fast beat of his heart from how close you both were, and while you knew part of it was because he was just happy being near you, you couldn’t help but worry his constant need to work late was putting more stress on him than needed.

“Could I convince you to stay in bed all day tomorrow?” You ask, hoping he would at least get some sleep that way. Donnie hesitates, thinking it over. You can feel his arms shift so he could press his face into you more, a disappointed noise coming from the stubborn man. He hated ‘wasting’ days, but even he knew how bad his habits were getting.

“Only if you stay with me.”

“Deal.”

The compromise was one you barely had to think over, not knowing anything better than getting to spend the entire day cuddled up next to the man you loved more than anything. Donnie grins against your skin, blowing soft air onto your neck to tickle you. You let your eyes close and your body sink down, his heart slowly syncing with yours. It was time for you both to get some rest.

****Edit 04/08/23 : making some big changes but I think these will be way better!!

So I think I finally got all the SepAU movie plot fully down!

In the fight to get the key back, Donnie gets taken instead of Raph when Mikey’s escape pod gets destroyed and Donnie gives him his own. And though they lose the fight and have to retreat, it does go better…but also worse than the one in canon. The Technodrome gets pulled through earlier than the movie, but the Third Kraang gets killed.

Kraang Prime chooses to replace him with Donnie (a brother for a brother after all) but that backfires when Donnie and the Technodrome merge and They become too powerful to control—become more than just a tool for the Kraang.

And later, while They might eventually kill Kraang Prime for their brothers’ benefit—it doesn’t necessarily mean They are willing to be parted. Even if They have to fight Their brothers to remain as one.

Me and SeeD have been discussing a lot about headcanons for months now, and one of them is about the boys' birthdays. We couldn't really figure out a good way to fit it in a fic so I figured I'd share the idea here for now.

The turtles celebrated their birthdays together on their mutation day, and maybe after they met April they decided they needed their own days, and their mutation day will be a day for celebrating their family.

Mikey originally wanted to celebrate his birthday on Halloween, and then Donnie opened his eyes to a better possibility - if he celebrated about two weeks before, he could have twice the amount of candy and have TWO costume parties. So he chose October 14th.

Raph didn't really get why they needed their own birthdays, he liked celebrating on their mutation day, but when he realised it wasn't supposed to replace their mutation day but be on top of that he decided to play along. He wanted to choose January 1st so it'll be an easy to remember date, but the Donnie told him April probably wouldn't be available to celebrate with them on that date, so he chose January 2nd.

Donnie chose his birthday very carefully. He wanted to have it when the days are long and when there's no rain, snow or strong wind to mess with his plans. When seasonal allergies are over, but before the biggest heat waves. After finals but before schools are actually over so there's no chance April will be on vacation with her family during that time. He's about to say the date when Leo (who didn't listen to a word he said and suddenly came up with the perfect birthdate) speaks with him at the same time - June 9th.

They stare at each other. They give each other murderous looks. Raph and Mikey don't get what's going on and neither does Splinter. Leo offers to celebrate his birthday on April 20th, Donnie refuses to let Leo be older than him and tries to tell him he should celebrate his birthday on September 6th.

They end up sharing that birthday for the rest of their lives.

As long as Donatello could remember, he and Leonardo always had this… connection.

He couldn’t describe it (he had a hard time describing things he couldn’t see), but it was this feeling he and his brother shared, one they didn’t share with Raph or Mikey.

They always knew when something was wrong, when the other was hurt, exactly how the other was feeling. 

Donnie remembers a time when they all played hide and seek. Leo was it, and he had decided to hide in a small, enclosed space, thinking he wouldn’t be in there long. He had overestimated Leo’s finding ability, and had begun to panic, hyperventilating and his vision going blurry. But right before he completely lost it, Leo had found him, said he just knew where he was because of how scared Donnie had felt.

That had been the longest 4 minutes and 28 seconds of his life.

It always felt like there was a link, a string connecting the two like a thread. Donnie had noticed that it grew stronger once they unlocked their ninpo. 

The connection had always given him comfort, made him feel like no matter what, Leo always understood him. That he was never alone.

… When he felt the connection break, he thought his heart stopped.

He watched as the Kraangs’ ship- the Technodrome- shatter into pieces as the portal closed, locking the Kraang- and his twin- inside for eternity. 

He didn’t hear the pieces fall, didn’t hear the sound of April or Splinter crying over the comms, didn’t hear Raph collapse in a heap.

He just stopped, and stared.

His cheek felt wet… he didn’t know why.

Oh.

He was crying.

He felt his chest tighten, everything around him suddenly becoming too loud and too quiet all at the same time. He couldn’t think, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t feel. 

But he knew he had to calm down.

What did Leo tell him to do?

Right. Count the time.

1… 2… 3… 4…

He sees Raph, on the ground, crying for his little brother.

9… 10… 11… 12…

The pieces of the Technodrome falling around him, narrowly missing him and his brothers.

17… 18… 19… 20…

He keeps counting, he can’t stop counting. Even as Mikey tries, once again, to use his supposed mystic hands, even when Raph says it’s over. 

Even when Mikey does open the portal, and he rushes to stand by his little brother’s side, he doesn’t speak, because he has to keep counting.

He sees his brother, floating limply through the prison dimension, Kraang Prime scrambling to grab Leonardo. Rage fills his very being, and as he fires the drill at the Kraang, he screams the numbers in his head.

The portal closes, Raphael holding Leo’s body in his arms. His twin, his brother… his best friend.

“… Ew, are we in Staten Island?”

The connection sparks to life again, as if Donnie had been struck by lightning. And he knows Leo feels it too, his eyes widening ever so slightly. And then he and his brothers are hugging, his twin is breathing, everyone is… mostly okay, alive at least, and Donatello couldn’t be happier.

That had been the longest 4 minutes and 28 seconds of his life.

And just like last time, the twins had found each other.

1: The UNSC wanted to see if it was possible to create Spartans out of animals out of curiosity. Taking DNA samples from "Splinter" Aka Hamato Yoshi, a Spartan who volunteered himself to test and see if it was possible.

2: After grabbing three random eggs from REACH before it fell they injected the embryos with human DNA till they hatched.

Their names already determined as Projects Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello and Michelangelo

Raph was the first to hatch, a year later Leo hatched, Donnie didn't make it and Mikey was the last one year later. The numbers 315.01 through .04.

3: With what DNA and information they had relating to Donnie they started to experiment and see if he could be an AI. Somehow it did work yet his AI needed time to develop as a living creature. They could never explain it.

4: The Covenant attached that location, Leo, Raph and Mikey were separated and by the UNSC Leo was determined dead. But in fact The Covenant got a hold of Leo.

5: Mikey and Raph haid their tails docked at as infants for battle reasons. Raph had taken a little longer to learn how to walk but figured it out.

6: Despite being quite small Mikey is one of the best Spartans in his group.

7: Leo was raised by the Elites and learned the universal language and Alien languages. He started training at a young age with Thal being his mentor. At the age of 14 showing great skills with strategy and leadership, and working hard he was granted Major. As disliked as it was Leo brought much honor to the Elites.

8: Donnie's personality and equivalent of soul or spirit thanks to the technology and resources Donnie grew to be a pretty powerful AI. Being one of the few that can manifest weapons and usually rides along in Raph's helmet

9: Raph and Mikey are called "Sunset". Mikey also rides on Raph.

10: Despite being turtles their shells are more closer to their back and spines, or even non existent. Which helps with their armor.
