La Pluie makes me incredibly nervous, like I love it and I’m certain I’m going to be made very sad by whatever goes down with Lomfon…
The whole meeting in the cafe where Lomfon is so delighted to be with Tai and find that they share interests, that they’re soulmates not just because they hear each other in the rain. That the whole encounter is a confirmation for him.
But how much does Lomfon hear in the rain? What does he think about there being a third person? Why does Lomfon think that Tai is his soulmate but that Phat isn’t? Can Lomfon only hear Tai and not Phat? But Lomfon can tell that Tai hears someone else?

Note
Hii. Fellow Pining boys lover here! Could you recommend some BL series with unrequited love and long term pining? Thank you so much, lovely.
Unrequited love I can't help much with, honestly, there's not a ton of it in BL? But there are a few. But pining, oh pining, my favorite babies. I will only be recommending ones I love.
I mean, the first is the obvious of MekBoss from My Engineer. One of my personal favorite pining dynamics of all time because I adore piners who pick friendship over love every time until there isn't a choice anymore. But yes. Definitely good pining.
2moons2 is good for a speedrun of pining alongside some very flirty pining and it works very, very well for both, though I suppose arguments could be made about whether or not actively flirting with someone can also be pining but, you know what, I'll make an exception.
Cherry Magic does Kurosawa's pining oh so well and it's darling. Different than Thai pining but definitely one to watching.
Lovely Writer has both pining and unrequited love by the end. Honestly, I have to recommend this one strongly because the pining is delicious, the relationship is great and the unrequited love is painful in a whole rang of ways and goes in so many directions.
About Youth just ended but I cannot help how much I recommend it for the gentleness and pining. Not the plot so much but there is very gentle pining and love and softness.
Bad Buddy is A+ in terms of how much pining truly hurts and how much it can change a person when they know they can't do anything about it and how much that love can change them too. Absolutely A+.
Cherry Blossoms After Winter is truly all about pining that turns to love without distraction. I also love it so much, it's truly traditional yaoi in every sense but done by Korea so it's super stylized.
Cutie Pie is the only show where it is entirely about pining despite them already being in a relationship. Absolutely must watch for pining fans, honestly, both main pairs are established relationship that are still pining for each other because they're in arranged marriages.
En of Love TOSSARA is more like the conclusion of a long pining arc we don't see but it absolutely has to be here because it is glorious.
My Beautiful Man is dual sided pining with agony mixed in and is my purest 11/10 BL so, yes, you should definitely watch this one.
La Cuisine is close to this so Imma stick on here because I have a super soft spot for this little pulp. Very soft, very filled with lots of gentle and soft loving that starts as pining and pining that has lasted a long time.
Minato Shouji Coin Laundry is definitely perfect for this, honestly. They do everything. You gotta watch it for
My one mediocre recommendation: My Gear and Your Gown. This one is longterm pining but it's done super mediocre and they flubbed the ending but ugh SO MUCH POTENTIAL. Enchante also falls here but the ending was even worse for me so I can't recommend that one at all.
Old Fashion Cupcake is the mature version of this, in a lot of ways, but also just an amazing show and you should definitely watch it regardless.
Plus & Minus had good pining but, again, kind of fell apart at the end. But the pining was very, very good.
Secret Crush on You is a cringefest of the deepest emotions that somehow blended longterm pining and stalking into a gorgeous love story that is also... cringe humor but with an amazing message? I love SCOY so much and I think you will too, just remember that they're taking the comedic side characters and giving them depth and heart so that's exactly what it is.
Star in My Mind is very good at the idea of longterm pining on both sides but also deep, deep communication struggles so... watch out for that? I liked it a lot but I know it went too long for a lot of people.
Tonhon Chonlatee is another comedy that I honestly really enjoyed and it's all longterm pining and an oblivious idiot and also Neo Trai in one of his best roles before The Eclipse!
We Best Love No 1 For You is exactly what anyone looking for longterm pining is looking for, honestly, it's fantastic. Fighting Mr Second is... not exactly the same thing but does have a lot of good notes and has a different longterm pining couple that is also a touch more unrequited so this might just be perfect for you?
You're My Sky also has longterm pining in the main couple and is gorgeous.
Anyway, yes there are others but most of the others are ones I wouldn't recommend because I didn't like them. So... enjoy these!

bl drama recs 💕
as of oct. 2022 i won’t be updating this list anymore (too many shows, too little time to review them all!) 👉🏻 see this post instead for an up-to-date rec / watch list
country of origin
[🇯🇵] japan [🇵🇭] philippines [🇰🇷] south korea [🇹🇼] taiwan [🇹🇭] thailand
note: i’ve already watched — and loved! that’s how i got into dramas in the first place! — a number of cdramas such as the untamed, guardian, the sleuth of ming dynasty, etc. however, while these are indeed based on bl novels, they aren’t explicitly bl themselves (just barely, i know, and only because of censorship), so in the end i’ve decided not to put them on this list.
format 🎞 movie 📺 series (📺💬 renewed • 📺❌ canceled)
note: some korean bl dramas, being so short, get compiled into movies once they’ve finished airing, which is why you’ll find 📺/🎞 next to some titles (📺 + 🎞, however, means that the series and the movie(s) are distinct things)
points of interest 👨‍❤️‍👨 the main couple (if there’s more than one bl couple) 👬 the side couple(s) (if there’s more than one bl couple) 🎥 the visuals 🎼 the music
~love scale~ 🥰 hand holding, cuddling, light / short kisses (if any) 😘 full-on kissing / making out, falling into bed, light foreplay, sex is implied/discussed 😳 gettin’ hot and heavy!
💖 personal fave

lovely writer (2021) 🇹🇭
mr. heart (2020) 🇰🇷
together with me (2017) + together with me: the next chapter (2018) 🇹🇭
note: i’ve linked each title to the corresponding mydramalist page so you can have a look at the synopsis and cast and check where to watch the show. and if you don’t know where to start, you can have a look at @gunsatthaphan‘s very clear and very useful “quick guide on where to watch shows”!
don’t hesitate to suggest shows/movies i should add to my to-watch list (my ask box’s always open!) as long as a) it’s explicitely BL and b) it doesn’t end in tragedy. (an open or bittersweet ending is okay.)
💕⬇ recs ⬇💕
[🇹🇭] 2 MOONS 2 (2019) 📺❌
i was drawn to 2 moons 2 because of mingkit, just like i started watching gen y because of markkit, but, contrary to gen y, the rest of the show does hold up quite well and the other couples, including the main one, each have their own appeal. it’s not a particularly original drama, if you’re already familiar with university-set thai dramas and their accompanying tropes, but it’s still a rather enjoyable watch and mingkit truly did not disappoint. fair warning: the show hasn’t been renewed as expected so there’s some unresolved stuff for the main couple but the side couples (mingkit and forthbeam) do get their happy endings! [ 😘 • 👬]
note: the whole 2 moons / 2 moons 2 / 2 moons 3 / gen y thing is... confusing, to say the least, but fear not! @negrowhat was kind enough to clear it all up 🙏🏻
[🇹🇭] 2GETHER (2020) + STILL 2GETHER (2020) 📺+🎞
tbh i’m not that enthusiastic about 2gether / Still 2gether but i did watch both series and i do plan on watching the movie once it’s available, so it seems only fair to rec it. on the one hand, it’s a sweet, funny and light-hearted show. the acting’s a bit awkward in places at first but it does get better and the actors are visibly more at ease in the sequel. bright and win work very well together and they’re incredibly touching when they get to play more emotionally-charged scenes. on the other hand, though, i still think that the show isn’t very well-written and above all not very well-paced. the good stuff gets lost amid contrived plotlines and so, so many unnecessary and repetitive scenes. plus, i personally wasn’t into any of the side couples. (except for dimgreen but alas we don’t get to see much of them.) another thing that put me off was the portrayal of physical intimacy — or rather, the lack of it. don’t get me wrong, i’m not saying that it should have featured more kissing / skinship — other dramas do just fine with showing very little or even none of it (see: ingredients, cherry magic) — it’s just that there was too much of an overall weird, bro-ish vibe bordering on prudishness. i’m not saying 2gether / still 2gether is bad, but it’s definitely flawed, and given how popular it is, i was expecting more (maybe too much?) from it. [🥰 • 👨‍❤️‍👨]
[🇰🇷] ANTIQUE BAKERY (2008) 🎞
antique bakery is not exactly bl but it’s an adaptation of the same source material as baker boys so i thought i would still include it on the list. see this post for my impressions AND for min sun woo’s (played by kim jae wook) fabulous outfits. they alone are reason enough to watch this movie.
[🇹🇭] BAKER BOYS (2021) 📺
(review coming soon!)
[🇹🇼] BE LOVED IN HOUSE: I DO (2021) 📺
aka mutual pining + there was only one bed*: the series. needless to say, i loved it. i first watched it while it was airing and i can’t tell you how much i was looking forward to it every week. it’s ridiculously soft and charming and it’s definitely on my list of feel-good shows. it also features one of best and most supportive moms in bl + a side couple that’s both cute as heck and all about that healthy communication. and it’s Taiwan, so there’s some heat to spice up all that sweetness. (* even though there’s actually more than one available bed.) [😳 • 👨‍❤️‍👨 • 👬]
[🇹🇭] BITE ME (2021) 📺
bite me is a drama that brought me a great deal of joy & comfort and even inspired me to write a few fics... up until it bitterly disappointed me. i’d recommend it, but only on the condition that you do not watch episodes 8-10 and skip directly to the ending instead. however you choose to fill in the blanks, it will be better than what actually happened in the show, i promise. now, these three cursed episodes aside, bite me is a very slow drama but in a way that (to me at least) makes it particularly tender and enchanting. it’s got a wonderful soundtrack to boot and mark siwat’s performance in this, as one of the leads, is simply *chef’s kiss* [ 🥰 • 👨‍❤️‍👨 • 🎥 • 🎼]
[🇵🇭] BOYS’ LOCKDOWN (2020) 📺
(thanks @laowen for the rec!)
is it possible to produce a series which a) takes places during the COVID-19 pandemic but b) still manages to be ADORABLE AF? the answer is YES and it’s boys’ lockdown. i absolutely get not wanting to watch anything that even mentions COVID-19 — and thank god we still have other shows that allow us to forget all about it for a while — but this series is truly a joy and a comfort to watch <3
i mean, i am tired of the whole situation, but to me one thing that’s really making it worse is people treating it like it’s not that bad or like it’s already all over, which — it’s not! so it’s kind of a relief to see these characters actually taking it seriously, washing their hands, putting on masks and practicing social distancing.aAnd while the show doesn’t wallow in it, it still manages to acknowledge how difficult getting through the pandemic is in a very thoughtful and relatable way (with a couple of particularly emotional scenes that made me go britneyyeah.gif).
HOWEVER, the main thing is that boys lockdown is VERY CUTE. it’s a bit awkward at times but it’s still VERY, VERY CUTE. i’ve already rewatched it once twice and writing about it now is making me want to put on an episode again. both boys want to be together from the start, they’re both being very obvious and very enthusiastic about it, and they’re just trying to make it work while keeping themselves and their loved ones safe. they’re an absolute pleasure to watch and the show does a very good job of using the sanitary constraints to amp up the tension between its two leads. (”are their fingers about to BRUSH? oh my!!”)
[🇯🇵] CHERRY MAGIC (2020) 📺
💖 i started watching cherry magic as it was airing — i probably came in halfway through the series — and i’m barely exaggerating when i say that for a while there it was one of the few things still holding me together. (yeah, that winter was rough.) new episodes were coming out on fridays and so no matter what else was going on, each weekend i would at least get to cosy up on the sofa and enjoy a perfectly delightful half hour. cherry magic is a lovely, lovely show and i’m very thankful for the much needed joy and comfort it’s brought me. [🥰 • 👨‍❤️‍👨 • 👬 • 🎥]
[🇹🇭] DARK BLUE KISS (2019) 📺
💖 paradoxically (or not so paradoxically, depending on how familiar you are with the history of the genre) not that many bl dramas actually feel like queer dramas — but DBK definitely does. its characters are written as queer (there’s no “gay but only for you” or “let’s not use labels” here) and so the issues they face and the experiences they go through feel (to a certain extent) more authentic, more relatable and more moving than in some other shows. although pete & kao’s storyline relied, in part, on tropes I’m not too fond of in general (namely jealousy and miscommunication), it allowed for an exploration of their relationship, but also of their individual identities, informed by their queerness in a way that felt very thoughtful and layered. same for sun & mork, whose characters and storyline i actually enjoyed more because they felt more mature and relied on different tropes, but that’s truly just a matter of personal preference — the show as a whole is really great. [🥰 • 👨‍❤️‍👨 • 👬 • 🎥]
[🇵🇭] GAMEBOYS 📺💬+🎞
💖 like boys lockdown, gameboys is about two boys falling in love and trying to make it work during the pandemic — and like in boys lockdown, the leads are very cute and very obviously attracted to one another. however, gameboys delves deeper into the themes of loss, distance and isolation and i can pretty much guarantee that you are going to cry at some point. that said, the show is very well-written, so it manages to balance its heavier moments with softer / lighter ones and to make the emotional journey rewarding for both its characters and its audience. [😳 • 🎥 • 🎼]
[🇹🇭] GEN Y (2020) 📺💬
i watched this for markkit (kimcop) and markkit only. after a couple of episodes, i skipped any scene they weren’t in and i regret nothing. i mean, you just don’t try and watch gen y for the plot. (what plot?) like mingkit in 2 moons 2, they have one of my favorite dynamics (# the grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one) and the progression of their relationship is 👌🏻 they check all the boxes on the top tier bl couple list: they’re cute, they’re funny, they have good chemistry, plus they’re both loving, caring, consenting and communicating! [😘 • 👨‍❤️‍👨]
note: the whole 2 moons / 2 moons 2 / 2 moons 3 / gen y thing is... confusing, to say the least, but fear not! @negrowhat was kind enough to clear it all up 🙏🏻
[🇹🇭] GOLDEN BLOOD (2021) 📺
i have very mixed feelings about golden blood. I’m always weak for the bodyguard trope and i was very into the way it was set up in this drama but despite some lovely scenes and of course a lot of ust between the leads, the whole execution was... well, awkward at best, cringy at worst. (do NOT talk to me about the fight scenes or about episode 3, i just... i can’t.) some of it was truly painful to watch, thank god for the skip button. i was also very disappointed with the show’s treatment of its female characters — they had a lot of potential, but in the end they served as nothing more than tired (and tiring) plot devices. to be honest, the true highlight of the show, and perhaps the very reason i’m including it on this list at all, is the side couple — pitchbank are the chaotic idiots-to-lovers ship i never knew I needed so much in my life and i so, so want them to have their own spin-off. [😘 • 👬]
[🇹🇭] HE’S COMING TO ME (2019) 📺
💖 another offering by p’aof so you know it’s good even if it’s (sadly) not as popular / well-known as it ought to be. it’s a romance involving a ghost so some of it’s bound to hurt but overall it’s remains a very cute, funny and charming drama. it’s well-written, well-paced and, since it’s by p’aof, beautiful to watch. plus, singto’s sunshine energy is perfectly matched by ohm’s and they make a wonderful pair in this. [🥰 • 🎥 • 🎼]
[🇹🇼]  HISTORY 3: TRAPPED (2019) 📺
💖 this series honestly took me by surprise. i wasn’t that taken in by the first couple of episodes and i was honestly wondering how they were going to make the two leads believably work together beyond, perhaps, some adrenaline-fueled hate sex. and then — then everything just clicked. it was quite frankly delightful watching them get together, but the development of their relationship afterward, in the second half of the show, was even more satisfying. plus, i was really into the side couple as well <3 and if that wasn’t enough, the investigation managed to remain interesting to the very end with some very emotional twists and turns. i binge-watched it all over the course of one weekend and i regret nothing, it was so good. [😳 • 👨‍❤️‍👨 • 👬]
[🇹🇭] INGREDIENTS (2020) 📺
💖 aka “food as a love language: the series”.  ingredients has become something of a comfort show for me — sometimes i’ll just pull up an episode at random and it will never fail to cheer me up. sure, it’s basically a supermarket commercial doubling as a cooking show, but it features the most adorable slow burn / getting together ever and it’s got one of the most emotional finales i’ve ever watched. i was in actual tears. (it doesn’t end badly, though!) [🥰 • 🎼]
[🇰🇷] LIGHT ON ME (2021) 📺
💖 oh this such a lovely, lovely show. it’s definitely one of Korea’s best contribution to the genre (and they’ve already made quite a few remarkable ones). it’s just... gosh, it’s full of a love and tenderness that just shine throughout in a way that truly elevates each character and allow the show to delve into some serious issues without ever being too heavy. it’s soft and funny and moving and an all-around delight to watch. [🥰 • 🎥 • 🎼]
[🇰🇷] LONG TIME NO SEE (2017) 🎞
(thanks @seomoon for the rec!)
💖 i can’t believe there’s so little content about this movie when IT 👏🏻 HAS 👏🏻 EVERYTHING 👏🏻 the romance plays out against a crime / mafia backdrop, which makes it all the more exciting as well as surprisingly and exquisitely tender. (basically, if you liked history3: trapped and/or manner of death, and/or if you’re already looking forward to kinnporsche, you’ll probably like this.) i absolutely adore the relationship between the two male leads: it’s very soft, very loving but there’s also a lightness to it that i wasn’t expecting and it made me smile, and even laugh, more than once. it just feels genuine and touching. and the movie itself is beautiful, too, i only wish I knew how to make gifs because it deserves so many gifsets. i’ll also add that while it’s not a big budget movie, the fight scenes are very cool and well-executed. plus, it’s got my favorite trope of all: found family!! [😳 • 🎥]
note: It’s pretty easy to watch it for free but if you can spare the money (and i’m lucky enough that I can, so i did), you can rent or buy the movie on vimeo to support strongberry (an independent korean studio who produces quality queer content, mostly short films, you can check out some of their stuff for free on their youtube channel)
[🇹🇭] MANNER OF DEATH (2020) 📺
💖 i can’t even begin to explain how wild it was to follow this series week after week and to watch tumblr go feral over it every monday. is it, objectively speaking, the best show i’ve ever watched or even the best show on this list? honestly, who cares, it was fucking great and i enjoyed every minute of it. i will forever be chasing the high of mod mondays but i know in my heart of hearts that no other drama, no matter how good, will ever give me quite the same feeling. that experience was intense. and to think it was my first ever thai bl!! anyway, if you’re tired of high school / college romance and want something more mature and exciting (and, at times, batshit insane) which deals with darker themes, manner of death’s for you. plus, the leads are played by bl kings maxtul 🙏🏻 [😳 • 👨‍❤️‍👨 •  👬 • 🎥]
[🇹🇭] MY ENGINEER (2020) 📺
i wasn’t expecting much from this drama — it just seemed like yet another thai bl about engineering students relying on overplayed tropes and stereotypes, but tumblr kept throwing ramking content at me so in the end i gave in and decided to watch it. and I actually liked it! a lot! yes, the show does rely on some overplayed tropes and stereotypes and i do wish they had handled bohn’s jealousy / insecurities better in the second half. still, I found it overall very sweet and even surprisingly refreshing in some aspects (like, i absolutely wasn’t expecting that deconstruction of top/bottom stereotypes). i had a good time watching it and i’m very much looking forward to season 2!  [🥰 • 👨‍❤️‍👨 •  👬]
[🇰🇷] NOBLEMAN RYU’S WEDDING (2021) 📺/🎞
this one’s very, very cute — and so very pretty to watch. it’s one of those movie-length series that south korea keeps putting out, which works quite well in some cases (see: to my star, wish you), but which is quite frustrating here. it’s a comedy so it remains light and funny until the end but i do wish it had had more time to explore some of its themes (especially gender presentation and love vs. duty) and develop its characters and their relationships. as a whole, it wasn’t executed as well as i would have wished (there’s just too much that’s left unresolved or simply brushed aside), but it’s still very charming. plus, it’s a joseon dynasty costume drama! love to see bl exploring that genre <3 (see also: tinted with you) [🥰 • 🎥]
[🇰🇷] MY SWEET DEAR (2021) 📺/🎞
(review coming soon!) [🥰 • 🎥]
[🇹🇭] NITIMAN (2021) 📺
💖 nitiman is basically all snuggles with only a side helping of struggles. from what i understand, it was cut short (it was supposed to be 12 or 13 episodes total but it was reduced to 10?) so it gets wrapped up a little too quickly (and a little unsatisfyingly in some aspects though the leads do get a nice and proper ending) but I still really loved it. it’s not groundbreaking by any stretch of the imagination but i easily forgave its reliance on the usual tropes given how charmingly it used them. the leads work so well together — their mutual affection & attraction is obvious from the start but i truly enjoyed the way the drama gave them time to figure it all out. (which makes it a little frustrating that the ending felt so rushed in comparison with the rest.) [😘 • 👨‍❤️‍👨]
[🇹🇭] OUR SKYYY (2018) 📺
(review coming soon!)
[🇹🇭] OXYGEN (2020) 📺
oxygen seems quite underrated — which is a pity given that it features one of the loveliest couple in bl. they get together pretty quickly and they’re just so sweet about it too. they’re each incredibly supportive of the other AND they’re also trusting and communicative which, if you’ve watched enough bl, is quite refreshing compared to a lot of other couples. and the side couple is just as enjoyable to watch! now, the show is often accused of being boring — and i agree, but not because of its leads, but because of its pacing. it’s quite slow and, at times, contemplative, which perfectly fits the main couple, but then the rhythm feels off when you get to scenes that are supposed to actually move the plot along. the soundtrack doesn’t help — those plucked strings feel so weird and out of place, it actually got on my nerves a number of times. so, it’s not a perfect drama, and it would definitely benefit from better editing in places, but both the main and side couples are so adorable that I still recommend it. (note: just skip the khim/dr petch storyline. it’s a mess and it brings absolutely nothing to the show.) [🥰 • 👨‍❤️‍👨 •  👬]
[🇹🇭] SECOND CHANCE (2021) 📺
for such a short drama, second chance actually manages to pack in quite a lot. (i do wish it hadn’t packed in no less than three couples since one of them is pretty meh but the other two are so, so good that they make up for it.) i loved the way it explored the best friends to lovers trope, with the hesitancy and heartbreak that come with the territory, but also the close bond and chemistry between the two leads. (that first kiss? definitely in my top 3 bl kisses, hands down.) there’s one plot point halfway through that i thought was contrived and unnecessary but that’s my only gripe. as for the side couple (chrisjeno), they truly had NO RIGHT being that adorable. (i’m just ignoring the third couple, I wasn’t into them at all.) [😘 • 👨‍❤️‍👨 •  👬]
[🇹🇭] SOTUS (2016) + SOTUS S (2017) 📺
💖 it took me a while to get around to watching this drama because of the setup (”stubborn engineering freshman clashes with abusive head hazer, they fall in love”) but boy oh boy, did sotus turn all my expectations on their heads and then steal my heart. i absolutely loved arthit and kongpob’s dynamic and the way the series allowed them to grow, both as a couple and as individuals, over the course of both seasons. despite my initial misgivings, it truly was a pleasure to watch and i’m still very fond of it. [🥰]
[🇵🇭] STUCK ON YOU (2021) 📺
the set up of stuck on you is very reminiscent of both boys lockdown and gameboys, so if you’ve already watched these, the show might feel repetitive in some aspects. however, i liked that its particular love story was overall messier and, in a way, more adult. contrary to almost all the other shows on this list, there’s no clear HEA or even HFN for the protagonists, but i liked this series’ exploration of what it means, and what it takes, to be in love and to be in a relationship. [😘]
[🇹🇭] A TALE OF THOUSAND STARS (2021) 📺
💖 i’ll be honest with you, i don’t know that I can actually write an articulate review of ATOTS. if you truly want to know how i feel about it, just go through the tag on my blog and watch me devolve further and further into an incoherent mess with each new episode. it’s just... god, it’s so good. i almost died, several times, from the sheer amount of yearning and ga(y)zing and tenderness (and, yes, unresolved sexual tension) between the two leads, but more than that, it’s a show that truly gave its characters time and space to grow and that’s why I have so many feelings about it. tian’s journey of self-discovery and self-actualization, of learning to value not only others, but also himself, was very moving, and i also have so much love for all the other characters in the village. (especially longtae, who’s made of pure sunshine <3) plus, it’s a very, very beautiful show to watch! it’s a 10 from me. [😘 • 🎥 • 🎼]
[🇰🇷] THE TASTY FLORIDA (2021) 📺 / 🎞
the tasty florida is very pretty to watch but it lacks both structure and substance. with tighter writing and editing, it would have been perfectly fine, but as it is, the story gets pulled into too many directions it doesn’t have time to explore. cute, but ultimately unsatisfying. [🥰 • 🎥 • 🎼]
[🇹🇭] THARNTYPE + THARNTYPE 2 (2019-2021) 📺 + 🎞
tharntype is a polarizing drama, to say the least. it does rely on some very toxic/problematic tropes (mostly running the gamut from predatory behavior to outright sexual assault) which used to be rather common in yaoi and fanfiction back when I first entered fandom, around 20 years ago now. so, you know, keep in mind that, without condoning it, i might have a higher tolerance for that kind of stuff in fiction because of that. in any case, there’s just really no way to deny that tharntype is a problematic show in more than a few aspects, so be mindful of that if you decide to pick it up.
why am i rec’ing it, then? well, tbh, i wanted to see what the fuss was all about, so i started watching fully expecting to drop it after a couple of episodes. and i almost did — but then i became invested. even as i kept thinking, "oh no, that is not healthy”, i couldn’t help but get caught up in tharn and type’s romance. it’s just — it’s intense, it’s dramatic and it really fucking works. plus, the chemistry? OFF THE CHARTS.
and as the show progresses, it does turn a number of tropes on their heads (at least when it comes to its leads — it’s not as good to its side characters). there’s real character growth (JSYK i’m mentally clutching type to my chest and sobbing MY SON 😭 as i write this) and as tharn and type work through their issues, their relationship truly becomes, in many aspects, a deconstruction of the genre. so in the end, while i do wish the show had dealt very differently with some of its characters and plotlines, i honestly love tharn and type and i absolutely don’t regret watching it for them.
[🇹🇭] THEORY OF LOVE (2019) 📺
💖 i genuinely didn’t expect to end up loving this as much as I did. the first half of it was so heartbreaking to watch, I almost gave up on it — but once the story gets flipped it becomes so engrossing that i binge-watched it in a couple of days. (because of that, it’s one of those shows that’s even more enjoyable on the rewatch!) plus, the main characters are film students and i absolutely loved the show used references & homages to famous romance movies to tell its story. as an added bonus for those of you who’ve watched atots: earth pirapat’s in it! along with white nawat, who plays tian’s best friend [😘 • 👨‍❤️‍👨 •  👬 • 🎥]
[🇰🇷] TO MY STAR (2021) 🇰🇷 📺/🎞
oh, this is such a lovely series / movie. (food as a love language, here we go again!) kang seo joon is a wonderful character — his openness and straightforwardness, as well as the affection and care he shows han ji woo, are very refreshing and very sweet. i know this isn’t an expansive review compared to some others on this list but the best thing I can tell you, really, is that i love this so much that i’ve already rewatched it several times and whenever a gifset of it crosses my dash my heart just melts all over again. [😘 • 🎥 • 🎼]
[🇹🇭] UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN (2019) 📺
💖 growing up as a teen in the late 1990s / early 2000s, i was overwhelmingly exposed to tragic queer narratives similar to korn and in’s ill-fated love story — and still i felt grateful for them because not only was it representation, it was sympathetic representation. (it felt marginally better than a lot of other options at the time, which included but were not limited to: “blink and you’ll miss it”; “here but only if you’re fluent in queer coding”; “queer for the punchline”; “queer as in criminal/ly insane”.) my teenage years were a decade which opened with philadelphia and closed with brokeback mountain, with the matthew shepard story somewhere in the middle. not the worst decade, but not the greatest decade either to navigate one’s own queer identity.
what’s my point, you ask? well, see, everything about korn and in definitely threw me back to those years and broke my heart in all too familiar ways, but watching uwma as a whole, with the parallel storyline of dean and pharm, felt like a healing experience. it was just such a moving and well-thought-out use of the reincarnated soulmates / red thread of fate tropes. i could go on and on about this, but suffice it to say that it really meant a lot to me and so this series will probably always have a special place in my heart. [😘 • 👨‍❤️‍👨 •  👬 • 🎼]
[🇯🇵] UTSUKUSHII KARE (2021) 📺
💖 (review coming soon!) [😳 • 🎥 • 🎼]
[🇰🇷] WHERE YOUR EYES LINGER (2020) 📺/🎞
contrary to some other korean bl dramas, there were some changes made between the series and the movie — the movie doesn’t include some internal monologues, but whether this makes it better or worse than the series is mostly a matter of personal opinion. no matter the version, wyel is very good. i was a bit concerned at first about the way the power dynamics between the leads were going to play out (i do love the whole bodyguard trope but the situation’s quite a bit trickier here, what with them being teenagers who didn’t have a say in it to begin with) but in the end i thought it was explored very well. and the tension between the two of them? oof. [🥰 • 🎥 • 🎼]
[🇹🇭] WHY R U? (2020) 📺
why r u? is... well, honestly, a mess. from what I’ve gathered, part of it is to be attributed to the pandemic, but the result is just a very uneven and sometimes frankly confusing drama. so much so that i wasn’t that invested in the main couple the first time i watched it and i honestly skipped all the side plotlines. it’s the secondary couple (fightertutor) that, imho, truly shines and makes it a worthwhile watch. their story and their dynamic are so good. episode 10 in particular (which is almost entirely about them) is one of the most enjoyable BL drama episode i’ve ever watched. [😳]
[🇰🇷] WISH YOU (2020) 📺/🎞
i’ll be honest, while i did enjoy it, wish you didn’t leave a particularly strong impression on me. still, it’s cute, and if you liked to my star and/or you make me dance, you’ll probably like this as well. [🥰 • 🎥 • 🎼]
[🇹🇭] Y-DESTINY (2021) 📺
it’s difficult to review y-destiny as a whole since it’s more of an anthology than a proper series. (see this post by @absolutebl for a detailed breakdown.) it’s a mixed bag, so depending on your tastes you will not enjoy all couples / storylines equally, but it’s generally agreed that the puthkaeng episodes (episodes 9 + 10 - “wednesday”) are worth the watch. ngl, as a whole the show can get pretty cringy, but if you’re already familiar with thai bl dramas, it’s a lot of tropey fun with familiar actors, too. [from 🥰 to 😳 depending on the couple]
[🇰🇷] YOU MAKE ME DANCE (2021) 📺
💖 ymmd is so lovely to watch. the premise might seem a bit far-fetched but it honestly works (but maybe that’s just me being a sucker for the red thread of fate trope) (see also: uwma). it just becomes so rapidly apparent that these two are indeed meant to find one another and be together, they fit together so well. it’s all about the caring, you know? my only gripe would be that the very last act feels too contrived and clumsily written / handled BUT the rest of the series is so good and so lovely that it’s easily forgiven, especially since we do get a happy ending. plus, the actual dancing? GORGEOUS. [😘 • 🎥 • 🎼]

So I've been getting into BL's a lot lately... And I just kinda need to rant a bit so if you don't wanna read it u don't have to but it's nice to write it down
I just wanna say, I'm not going to stop watching BL's cuz even if they have a bad part or something like that, there is still also a lot of good shit so yeah
ALSO THIS CONTAINS A SHIT TON OF SPOILERS OF ALL THE BL'S I'VE WATCHED SO PROCEED WITH CAUTION
(BL'S MENTIONED: HIStory 3: Make Our Days Count, TharnType, WHYRU?, 2fether the series, My Engineer, YYY the series, en of love: tossara, love by chance & dark blue kiss)
First of I'd like to say fuck you to the last ep of the show I just watched (HIStory: Make Our Days Count). Fuck you for letting us believe that they finally got what they had been fighting so fucking hard for since episode 2 only to rip it our of our hands with the last episode by killing of 1 of the main characters. Killing him wasn't even that good for the storyline, before the show had such moving messages and now it just had 'life sucks and everyone you love dies'.
Because of this I will be ignoring the last episode and they will have had the happy ending they deserve in my mind.
Then I'd like to ask you to stop torturing and killing our fucking LGBTQIA+ REP. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND A SOLID NON TOXIC GAY RELATIONSHIP IN ANYTHING OTHER THAN BL'S?! Well, really fucking hard. Every gay in non-bl shows either gets killed, their partner gets killed or they end up in a weird and not really ok relationship with the partner.
The show I just talked about: killed one off, do I really need to say more
TharnType: Type was molested as a child and Tharn befriended a psychopath who is the cause of all of his heartbreaks. And Type needs to break Tharn's heart to save him from said psychopath and the whole experience def leaves them with PTSD. Also said psychopath set up Tharn's previous boyfriend (the one before Type) up to be gang raped by 3 older men, filmed this all, made it look consensual due to drugging the boy and then using the film to blackmail said boy into breaking up with Tharn and into helping said psychopath drive Tharn and Type apart. Resulting in a heartbreak that shook Tharn to the core and I think the whole ass fucking fandom can argue it might have made him suicidal if he didn't find out why Type broke up with him.
WHYRU?: The whole Fighter thing I have talked about before which was fully out of character and we never got him apologizing to Tutor for basically asulting him and almost raping him. Also, Fighter stands up to his homophobic dad once and suddenly his dad does a full 180 and supports his son's relationship, cute try but no, not how it works.
My Engineer: my fluffy boys Ram and King are hopefully, since the show has 3 more eps left, in good hands. But as soon as Duen and Bohn got the labels bf/bf the writers just kinda pushed them to the side. Resulting in Duen being a boyfriend that pulls away from everything and seems to be more into a friendship than a relationship, and into a Bohn that can't take a no and let's his emotions have the best of him. Mostly anger and jealousy. Writers please take care of my sons will you, damn it.
Love By Chance: I hope to dear god that season 2 is better than season 1 because season 1 had a shit ton of flakey or just no consent. AND. CONSENT. IS. FUCKING. IMPORTANT. UNDERSTAND. THAT. PLS. But, besides the small consent issue it's a great show. Too bad that one of the characters has to be blackmailed by a duck who wants to out him to his mom. Let's all sign a petition to put Trump down. Yes, Trump like president Trump, just not the same person. ~only the same dick personality~
Dark Blue Kiss: I love this show and the Kao/Pete pairing but I'd like Non to just fuck off. Although he did make the story line so I guess he was needed, which is the only reason I tolerate him. Still want to stab him, and want more domestic and cute Kao/Pete
En of love: tossara and 2gether the series: are one of the only shows that haven't mayorly fucked up. Although 2gether could have used some more romantic scenes/kisses in the end but eh.
YYY:The Series: only has 3 eps yet and I can't decide if the story line will fuck me over or not. What I do know is that it's full of meme references and that the writers definitely did drugs, makes it all the more gold tho
So in conclusion. I want western TV to stop queer baring me. And I want all of the TV to stop killing and torturing the characters, unless it's plot driven. Such as in DBK and TT. Although TT should chill...

axelle judges bl shows > En of Love: Love Mechanics
shitty summary: Mark is heartbroken because he was rejected by his crush and ends up sleeping with his crush’s friend, Vee. Then ensues a complicated relationship between the two.
where to watch: youtube
grade: 6/10
pros:
- the story could’ve been interesting.
- Mark was quite a compelling character, I found myself rooting for him.
cons:
- Vee was annoying as fuckkk. I just didn’t like him at all and didn’t root for him one bit. characters with no backbone are already super annoying but here it took it to the next level.
- the chemistry was very lackluster and I just couldn’t see it at all which is for me pretty rare to say because usually most actors, even in the smallest productions, have chemistry anyway. so here it’s a huge flaw.
- just like Tossara, the acting was really just not... it. I didn’t find myself immersed in the story at all because of it.
- the story was very confusing and just very hard to understand, it was overall really badly written.
- the story, just like Tossara, is just too short for me to care about it.
top/bottom discourse: 0 - 1 - 2 - 3
(1 being implied, 2 being shown and 3 being said)
would I rewatch it: definitely not
Conclusion: yeah... no.

Tag Game: 5 Male (BL) Characters That I Love
I was tagged by the wonderful, amazing, incredible, fantabulous @gulfkanawut . Thank you, twin, as always, for remembering me. Once again, I am late to the party, but here I am.
This is not in any particular order.
1. Tine (2Gether):
Tumblr media
I don’t think I need to explain this one, do I? Tine is my dumb son. He is so dense, so authentic, so adorable, and also, so relatable. It was very easy to grow attached to his character as the episodes passed. He had such immense growth and he such a wonderful creature. I love him.
2. Sun (Kiss Me Again):
Tumblr media
If you were here around the time KMA was airing, you’d know how much I loved P’Sun and how he was my favourite character in the series. It’s also worth mentioning that KMA was where I first saw Podd and it was love at first sight. His character was so amazing there, he was sweet, dedicated, hard-working, courteous and it was so heartbreaking to watch him pine over someone that couldn’t see how he was obviously the better choice.
3. Ram (My Engineer):
Tumblr media
This is another one I don’t really need to explain. My quiet baby easily conquered my heart as y’all well know. I actually really kinda love how is selective on who he talks to and who he lets get close to him. He is so protective over his friends and such a genuine sweetheart. I love him.
4. Pun (YYY):
Tumblr media
If you want a dork, Pun is your man, if you want a cutie, Pun is your man, if you want a little shit, Pun is also your man. Ynckdjsnckjdnsjkcds. I know it’s still very early in the series and that I might be biased because it’s Lay, but I really enjoy Pun as a character. Despite the show being a crackshow, his character has some depth and some moments where we can feel with him. He is very wholesome.
5. Mark (En of Love: Love Mechanics):
Tumblr media
I know, I know, the show is absolutely shitty, the storyline is fucked up, but ever since he showed up in Tossara, he stole my heart. Mark is such a softie and he deserved so much better than what was handed to him. He was so relatable and broke my heart when he said that he had nothing left to lose because the worst that could happen would be him getting sad once again. It went right in the feels.
Listen, don’t call me out on the fact that these are mostly from recent shows, I went with where my heart was at this moment and this is what I came up with. Yncksjcnskdjncsd.
For this one I’ll be tagging: @ctl-yuejie, @laytalay, @bldramagalore, @0ffgun, @piningbisexuals and @earnpears . I don’t know who’s been tagged already, and of course y’all don’t have to do it, but yo, it’s there.

Okay, I just have to talk about EN of Love.
So, I watched both Tossara and Love Mechanic and I gotta say this was weird. But not in the good way.
I mean, for a mini-series was okay, but it was so slow. There was no character development whatsoever. We got introduced to these characters straight up and that was that. Yes, maybe there was development regarding emotions and relations, but overall character development was stuck at episode 1. We talking Tossara here, will get to Love Mechanics later.
I’m gonna admit I jumped into watching this after an MV that had a bed scene that I wanted to see. But you know to enjoy that scene I had to understand what the fuck was going on in the series. So, I sat down to binge it and boy, was it cringy.
Idk how they picked out actors and shit, but there was no fucking chemistry between them. Like at all. It was so underwhelming. I can let bad acting slide, cuz they’re all new to this and shit. But the fact that there was no chemistry absolutely killed it.
If I have to talk about Love Mechanic, I’d have to say that it, at least, had Mark, who was the only character that felt real and developed throughout the series. I cannot understand why they had to pair him with the most selfish, insecure and overall trashy person ever, but whatever. But my other points stand here as well.
I feel like it’s important to break down the fact that the screen time is so little, that one cannot possibly make anything good of it. In the sense of it being a series, it just cannot happen. Maybe if it was made into a movie, it would have been better. Idk tho.
Okay, let’s see. We have 4 episode per installment, considering the length of each episode, which is like 40 mins, we got basically  2 hours and twenty screen time. So far so good. But then we have to consider that we have an opening/ending - 2 minutes; then we also have adds - 20 to 40 seconds; I will also include scenes where they stare at each other and those slow-mo type of scenes, that are a waste of screen time. Adding them all up. We got around 30 to 40 minutes of nothing out of 2 hours and 20 overall. So we are left with an hour and 40 to 50 minutes of screen time. One cannot possibly tell a decent story in such a short amount of time, okay? It either has to start with some established relationship or it has to be a fucking sitcom.
Cuz to be honest I was utterly confused with both installments - did the characters know each other before that? At first I had no fucking idea who Vee was, cuz what the fuck. And since they’re trying to cover established points in BL’s, viewers are left with a lot of fucking questions. It’s a messy work overall. Rushed, bleach and with very raw potential.
Anyway, uh, I do not want to rate this. I would be like something like 5, just because I’m a nice person. Tho, if I have to be objective this is a solid 2.

Do you have Thai BL recommendations for people who like SOTUS? I especially want to look for those with good relationship/character developments or a university setting (bonus points if they put a lot of focus on campus life). Thank you in advance!
Absolutely! I’ll give you a list of 14 ones that match your criteria, love. I’ve watched over 200 dramas so far so I’ll do my best! ❤️ (I’ll assume that you watched SOTUS S and Our Skyy already) 1. Kiss Me/Kiss Me Again/Dark Blue Kiss/Our Skyy - this was the second BL show I’ve watched and even though the first two seasons have straight couples as the main storyline, the third one (Dark Blue Kiss) had the secondary BL couple as the mains. In Our Skyy just like SOTUS it has a special episode. It follows the story of Pete and Kao, two uni students that start by hating each other (they legit punch each other half of the time) and then fall in love. I loved this series because the actors were also my favorites and their chemistry was out of this world, it’s a GMMTV production (like SOTUS) and its starred by New Thitipoom and Tay Tawan.
https://mydramalist.com/27353-kiss-me-again
2. He’s Coming To Me - a LineTV original but in collab with GMMTV, it stars Singto (Kongpob from SOTUS), and Ohm, this series will make you cry buckets and it’s my absolute fave after SOTUS. It’s perfect in every way, the story will capture you and the actors make you feel their pain. Even though it’s not set exactly in uni, one of the main characters is a uni student and the other is a ghost trying to understand why he’s still around. Together they will find out who exactly this ghost was and what happened to him...and somehow love happens. Besides the amazing leads, the secondary actors as their friends are absolutely hilarious. I beg you to give this a shot, you won’t regret it :P
https://mydramalist.com/31880-he-s-coming-to-me
3. 2Moons/2Moons2/2Moons3 - so this series...is a mess and a half but still a classic within the BL world so I will recommend it since it fits the university life theme. The first one had a certain cast and because of issues within the company (Motive Village), they changed it for the second season and now there’s a third season in the works. I should warn you that the second season retells what happened in the first one and then adds quite a bunch for the secondary pairings, you will love them for sure. It tells the story of a freshman at a university called Wayo that is also attended by his long-time secret love, Phana Kongthanin, a med second-year student, the problem is that Phana doesn’t recognize him. Both have their own group of friends and as expected love happens, even if you end up getting bored with the main couple, I’m sure you’ll fall in love with the side ones. Definitely recommend the second cast version :)
https://mydramalist.com/30962-2-moons-the-series-season-2
4. 2gether/Still 2gether - another one from GMMTV (shocking), with new actors and fresh faces, this series was instantly shoved to the top and trended every single day. The story follows an old cliché but it’s not boring at all, Tine is a very handsome student and cheerleader in college, and then we have Sarawat who is in the soccer and music club. When Tine gets some unwanted attention from Green, who he doesn’t have feelings for, he ends up asking Sarawat to fake date with him in order to chase Green away but there’s a plot twist in all of this. Why does Sarawat agree with it all in the first place? You gotta watch to find out. The second season wraps it up in a very very satisfying bow with lots of fluff that we missed from that season 1 finale.
https://mydramalist.com/39563-2gether-the-series
5. Bad Romance/Together With Me/Together With Me: the next chapter - now...this series was a ride...why? Because the two first seasons showed us how the side couple turned out to be together and then the third season came out and well...they fucked up. I absolutely hate the cheating concept do I’ll advise you to just ignore the third season even though it has a happy ending. Korn and Knock are both uni students and best friends, but things get complicated when one of them wants more and the other already has a girlfriend. It will make you want to slap them both at some point but their chemistry and kiss scenes were one the best I’ve ever seen in BL.
https://mydramalist.com/22990-together-with-me-the-series
6. En of Love: Tossara/Love Mechanics/ This is Love Story - all the three series are set in uni and even tho they have different stories and main couples, they all connect in some way. The acting and the directing are not the best out there and it can get confusing at times but it can be seen as something light and cute to watch if you ever get bored of heavier plots.
https://mydramalist.com/33785-en-of-love
7. HiStory 2: Boundary Crossing - a Taiwanese drama with only 8 episode and part of the HiStory Series, this one tells the story of Qiu Zi Xuan that was an excellent volleyball player in the past, but he had to give up on his dreams due to his injuries, but he still participates in the volleyball-related training, arranges and helps them to get into training, watching them improve. During the training, he meets a guy, Xia Yu Hao, a guy with a really bad temper who gets easily infuriated with people that make him angry, but he strives to acquire what he persistently wants to achieve. It’s a bit different from what we are used to but so cute and heartwarming in the end!
https://mydramalist.com/26354-history2-boundary-crossing
8. Love By Chance/A Chance to Love -  This one also has some clichés but it will get you hooked in no time! Pete is a handsome and rich university student that is incredibly timid. His shyness is caused by the fact that he tries to hide that he is secretly gay. By chance, Pete gets hit by a kind-hearted boy on a bike, Ae- Over time, Ae protects Pete from the world; he takes care of him. But somewhere between the intense closeness and soft touches, Ae begins to feel more than how a friend would. Yet, Pete doesn't want Ae to know the pain of being ridiculed for dating a man. Thus he ignores his feelings for Ae. But Pete falls deeper and deeper in love with the kind-hearted boy on the bike who once hit him, by chance. The main couple is absolutely adorable, Saint and Perth look absolutely amazing and the secondary one, even though it didn0t get a happy ending, they will have their one story arc in the new season (a chance to love) which is currently airing. We also find out what happened with the main characters.
https://mydramalist.com/27393-love-by-chance
9. My Engineer/My Engineer 2 -  When Bohn, the popular engineering student, starts a revenge plan on Duen, the innocent first-year medical student, their feelings slowly start to grow through roses that Duen has to buy for Bohn every day for a month. The second season is yet to air but you should give this one a chance since the first season didn’t actually end with any kind of cliffhanger.
https://mydramalist.com/26362-my-engineer
10. Senior Secret Love: Puppy Honey/ Senior Secret Love: Puppy Honey 2/ Our Skyy - from GMMTV this is where one of the great 4 couples started, specifically Off/Gun, the first series has a straight couple as the main couple and Off/Gun as PIck/Rome as the secondary one, then on the second season we get to more of them as usual. There’s also a special episode in the Our Skyy compilation. They are all uni students and we see how their lives slowly change and eventually how they fall in love. Pick’s character is afraid of falling for his best friend but eventually realizes that he can’t let Rome go. A very sweet and cute series.
https://mydramalist.com/22703-senior-secret-love-puppy-honey-2
11. Theory Of Love - This series...oh man it’s so good and makes you want to kill people at the same time. It’s the second series with the actors Off and Gun, where they play Khai and Third. Third is a filmology major along with his best friends Two, Bone, and Khai, but he has a secret. Third has been secretly in love with Khai for years. For three years, he has kept his secret love in his heart, silently supporting and loving Khai while knowing there is absolutely no future between them since Khai is as straight as a streetlight pole and also an absolute player. To make matters worse, Khai has a "no dating friends" policy. How long can Third love Khai silently while watching Khai bring a different girl home every night? Third has tried to see Khai as just a friend. But has failed time and time again. Because as easy as it is to fall in love, to stop is just as hard.  Maybe even harder. That is until Third learns a secret that breaks his heart completely. But when Third decides to stop, Khai decides to start.I absolutely loved this series and Off and Gun’s acting is just superb, please please watch it :)
https://mydramalist.com/31865-theory-of-love
12. Until We Meet Again - This one will mess you up, thirty years ago, Korn and Intouch were university students in Bangkok. At first, Korn kept pushing Intouch away, but in the end, he couldn't resist the boy who was so full of life where he was the exact opposite and decided to let him into his heart. However, in a time where homosexuality was unacceptable and having parents that were against their relationship and each other, Korn and In's love was bound to be doomed. Their story ended with tragedy. Years later, a freshly returned to Thailand, Pharm who is a  freshman in T- University has grown up always feeling like he is waiting for someone. Being riddled with sad dreams that always left him waking up with a wet face, fear of loud noises, and a birthmark on his temple, the boy has always felt like there is someone he is missing. Dean the third year swimming club's president at T- University has also spent his life searching for someone whose faces he can not remember. The red thread of fate that had tied them together in their past life once again pulls the two boys back to each other, tieing them to each other and a past that might not be worth remembering, but a love that is unforgettable. This will fuck up your feelings and the better part is that the side couple will get a new series soon as well,

13. Why R U? - So, this one is for everyone that appreciates some steamy scenes and good acting, which unfortunately is rare. Here we have Saint and Zee playing the roles of Tutor and Fighter and it’s everything you could ask for if you are a fan of hot scenes in BL (nothing graphic obviously). Tutor is said to be ‘wise’ beyond his age and acts rationally, while Fighter is the emotional kind. They started having some animosity with each other but developed a close relationship right after. The final scenes might seem confusing but this series was caught in between the whole Covid.19 situation so they had to wrap it up however they could.
https://mydramalist.com/32592-why-r-u-the-series
14. TharnType - I’ll recommend this one due to its popularity, but please be warned for sensitive themes like R**pe attempts, and other abusive situations. It’s not my favorite BL due its themes and quite...controversial scenes that made no sense to me. But I agree that the acting was quite amazing and the chemistry was there. Type is a dark, tall, and handsome freshman. Although he’s a warm boy, he is homophobic because he was molested by a man as a child. His life turns upside down when the new year of college brings along a very interesting person in his life a gay roommate, Tharn. With a gay guy and a guy who hates gay men that have to share a small space together for the rest of the year, what can possibly be the outcome of their story? Hatred? Or maybe love?
https://mydramalist.com/32555-tharntype-the-series
So there ya go, these were the ones that fit your criteria that I could remember. If you have any more questions let me know and I hope you have fun!❤️

En of love: Tossara ep2
SPOILERS AHEAD!!
(Part 2 I'm dumb)
Back to the pool!
Did he just say "everyones hot daddy"?
So he doesnt not like it. Good to know he isnt annoyed😄
What the heck does Tossara even mean? Is it a ship name? Cause he corrected Bar when he said GunNa
It's nice seeing Bar jealous though, not a one sided affection
Ooh nice upper food angle, like a cooking show
Dude, your not whispering at all. Mark is sitting right across from Bar, everyone can hear you!
Some pretty heavy conversations their throwing at us, but healthy for any relationship
I SKIPPED THE FIRST PART 🔼 that's all part 2 🔽 part 1 now
(Part 1) the beginning
Did he just say weekiversary? Brah hes so cheesy🧀
Cake!? I'd agree to dating Gun😆
I'm glad I went back, this interaction was real cute💕
(Part 3) itll be in order now😅
Why are they so close on the bed, shoulder to shoulder
Gun and all of us☺️ Bar initiated it, woahhhhhhh!
Do his parents know? Like is family relation okay? Cause hes being pretty open about liking Bar on social media
"You go first" "No, you" Their cute as shit already
Ahhh their infront of Bar's friends talking like this, I'd be so embarrassed😊
Yesssss hand holding💛
This ep was alot better. The first ep was rough while this ep was still a bit awkward but cute as fuck, like any good relationship. It's an IMPROVEMENT.

Ramblings on Grey Rainbow Ep. 1
Looks like we start at a future scene and are taken back in time?
Excuse me while I get my thirst out of the way – y’all are GORGEOUS! What are your names and how do you like your eggs in the morning?
We love a healthy friendship, but I can feeeeeeel the tension
Okay, right away I can already tell that Nuer is not completely oblivious to Porsche’s feelings and might even reciprocate…? (I see you, Nuer)
Porsche and Ice are friendship goals – we all need that one friend who will be honest and call us on our BS
As a psych major, the mention of philophobia has definitely piqued my interest… I wonder how it’ll be used to develop Porsche’s character
“Do you have someone you love?” – Sir, this is not a conversation to be had in the middle of the night lying beside a person who is clearly in love with YOU
I absolutely love Porsche’s professor! – so warm and insightful
OMG is the Bar from En of Love: TOSSARA?? He’s a baby here uwu
“Just this (book)? What’s the big deal?” – Nuer definitely knows
And he wasn’t looking for any books; he legit just came to pick Porsche up – I LIVE!
“For love, there is no such thing as a waste of time, right?” – Idk if I’m imagining it, but I feel a shift in Porsche’s energy here
At first he was reluctant (albeit playfully so) to accompany Nuer to see Jane, but as the scene goes on he no longer protests and they even go on an errand together
I think this one line really guides Porsche’s behavior – because he loves Nuer, doing these things with him (sometimes forgoing his own responsibilities) are no longer a waste of time
It’s time spent with Nuer, loving him unconditionally in the silence of his heart ;;
I want to see the pictures!
“You can’t help me with this. My work and your work are different.”
What I heard: “I’m in love with you and you’re in love with a woman. How could you possibly understand (how I feel)?”
The Hug™ – skin is clear, crops are growing, and bank account is full
The temples and their histories – beautiful! And the cinematography!!! *chef’s kiss*
This is high key a date in the name of doing homework lol
Porsche, sweetheart… these questions are invasive and disrespectful
I bet my last dollar that Nuer isn’t sleeping lol
Again, Ice is a Queen!
Jane and Nuer’s relationship seems to be on thin ice – she’s feeling neglected
Porsche is too precious for this world – He’s trying to help Nuer better his relationship with Jane, even if it’s at his own expense
UNCONDITIONAL LOVE ;;
This tragic love story associated with the temple reeks of foreshadowing and I do NOT like it
Again “Your work and mine… are so different. Yours brings you to temples, while mine brings me to night bars.”
Porsche’s internalized homophobia fully comes to the surface here, especially in the second line
Temples vs. bars // normal, acceptable, respected vs. taboo // straight vs. gay
Is Jane two-timing? And she’s being petty lol
Porsche, please get out of this alley
I don’t like where this is going…….
No no no no!
What do you want Nuer to do, Jane??! Leave him there???!!!
This ending… everything started out so light-hearted ;;

I need help. Nothing too serious! Promise! I just- I’m trying to get my best friend into BLs because she wants to watch some with me, but I don’t know what the best one to start her on would be. I started on Until We Meet Again and My Engineer. But I wanted some recommendations for some lighter ones maybe? I’ll drag her down those paths eventually, but she doesn’t do well with loud sounds and the situation with Dean and Pharm/ Korn and In at the end is no doubt going to screw her up because she had a traumatic experience, so I’m trying really hard to avoid letting her near UWMA at all (she finally agreed to drop it yesterday, thank god cause it was getting really hard to not be a bitch with how exasperated I’ve been), and she was my rant person during My Engineer, so she’s already said she isn’t watching that with me until we know about the second season.
So, do you or anyone else have any good recommendations to start with?
Always happy to help!
My first thought is to go Korean. Almost all the Korean movies will be softer, no loud/sudden sounds and very, very little to go with trauma. Behind Cut, My Sweet Dear, Tasty Florida, Where Your Eyes Linger, so on and so forth. All short, sweet and a great introduction to BL! Light On Me is also absolutely on that list. (Kissable Lips is NOT on this list.)
But if we're looking specifically for Thai recommendations...
A Tale of a Thousand Stars is amazing and does have some elements but a lot less than UWMA. But so much softer and nothing just as immediate or personal. Plus, the setting is so gorgeous.
Bad Buddy is amazing and fantastic and serious but not in the kind of way that UWMA is. Just a genuinely amazing show, not exactly lighter but still fantastic. And very different trauma.
En of Love: Tossara is literally the softest show imaginable and so sweet it's amazing and I cannot talk about loving this one enough. Literally zero drama. Everything gets talked about instead.
Ingredients! You absolutely cannot go wrong showing someone Ingredients. This feels like an interesting way to introduce someone to product placement as well!
Back to outside of Thailand!
Cherry Magic is always a good choice for a soft entry into BL. The show is just serotonin and sweetness and sugar and slow, soft boys.
HIStory 2! Both parts are very, very good and some of the softest parts of the HIStory franchise.
Be Loved In House: I Do is also just absurdly soft and a good gentle way to get into angst and BL's infamous lack of communication.
Kieta Hatsuoki is also very good on that front, just soft high school boys being soft and a bit nonsensical.
See You After Quarantine? is short enough to just enjoy and not think about but is also fantastic and full of love. Absolutely A+.
It might be even worth hunting down We Best Love 1+2. They're both amazing and very enjoyable.
Gameboys is a fairly good choice for a good start as well.
You Are Ma Boy is the sweetest little V-BL and I highly recommend these boys. Very, very soft show and even the drama is lowkey.
Honestly, as much as I love UWMA, I think it's a rough place to start in the world of BL and My Engineer is... also there. I liked parts of it but hoooo boy is it there.
I'll leave the list here, I think these are a pretty good selection of shows that feel very beginner to me. They're all mostly soft and slow, no huge drama or anything.

Must Watch Thai Series for #StayHome Weekdays
In today’s current situation of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we are bound to stay at home and just binge-watch everything you see interesting in your Netflix account. I know you’re somehow got bored already in your list of Kdramas like Kingdom, Crash Landing on You, and Also the Spanish Series Money Heist that you’re fascinated into.
Tumblr media
Lately, people started to notice various Thai Series especially those with an LGBTQ genre. BL or Boy Love Series are very well-known and well-represented in Thailand wherein they cater to different drama series where both men or women had a romantic relationship. One of which who trended and got viral is the couple Sarawat (Bright Vachirawit Chivaaree) and Tine (Win Metawin Opas-iamkajorn) from 2gether The Series by GMMTV.
Tumblr media
Just to give you a synopsis of the story: Tine is a very handsome student and cheerleader in college, while Sarawat is one of the campus’ most popular guys and is also in the soccer and music club.  When Tine is chased by Green, who he does not reciprocate feelings for — he ends up begging Sarawat to fake date with him in order to chase Green away.

i was tagged by @blckpinkmilk (thank you for always tagging me in stuff!)
1. your all time favorite bl and why?
ITSAY, hands down. Until then I hadn’t really felt a BL the way I had when I watched ITSAY. I was absorbed completely from beginning to end, thought about it all the time when I wasn’t watching it, struggled to not watch it all at once, in comparison to dreading having to watch something back to back, I still am very absorbed in it to this day, more than a month later, and felt so much watching it. It’s hard to put all into words how different it was to everything else, but it had a lot of firsts for me.
2. that one bl that scarred you for life?
Ummm... I’m not sure? I feel like none of them did anything like that to me, so I guess, nothing?
3. is there any bl that made you feel very single?
En Of Love: TOSSARA. I know not many people liked it, and I agree it needed more time, but I actually liked the main couple, for the most part, them being so nice with one another without much drama made it very easy to be envious, haha.
4. if you could change one thing from a bl, which one would it be?
Why R U not having much of Saifah and Zon. I know we got a little side story for them later on, but it wasn’t the same. I think things would’ve turned out a thousand times better if they were able to film it all properly in the moment, no doubt.
5. that one bl you detest (don't hold back)
YYY 2. I wasn’t too hot on YYY in the first place, though I was able to enjoy the antics plenty at times, but YYY 2 was just so boring for me and I did not enjoy it at all. The themes from the first season didn’t transfer all that well and it just wasn’t fun anymore. I can’t even remember if I ever finished it.
6. your top 5
1. ITSAY
2. Theory Of Love
3. Manner Of Death
4. The Shipper
5. HIStory: Trapped
7. that trashy bl that you lowkey like?
HIStory: Obsessed. In all levels besides the sheer absurdity it employs, I don’t like it, but watching how crazy it became was like watching a train wreck, you just can’t look away XD
8. your favorite korean bl (it's important we know)
Nobleman Ryu’s Wedding, by far. I like other Korean BL’s, too, but that series just stuck with me the most. I liked the ending, the plot and time period were unique for BL, the acting was good and the main couple was compelling, all around, I just love that series (I really need to draw more fan art for it soon!!)
9. season 2? which one?
Easily HIStory: Make Our Days Count. I didn’t have much of a desire for a season two until I heard it was actually possible we may get one. I know everyone hates the ending and everything, but I like it, and am 100% on board with getting to explore that some more, even if we don’t get a fix it. They built such nuanced, interesting characters I wouldn’t mind one bit getting to watch it even without another BL romance as the focus.
10. a bunch of dramas will air soon. which ones are you the most excited for?
Kinnporsche and Not Me! Kinnporsche is another BL coming with a unique plot we don’t see much, and so I’m always game for more of those! Same for Not Me, but it’s also good to know the main actors have good chemistry, so that can take the series an extra step!
11. tag them! Don’t really have anyone to tag, so if you see this, you’re tagged! Go nuts with this if you want to!

Note
Name your BL series that is top tier/god tier. More than 10 is acceptable.
Okay. Okay. I mean, this is so general and such a strange category.
I am going to go with these rules: completed, would recommend to people, in no particular order, actual series and not movies/shorts, no censored romances, have to love it the entire way through (nothing that falls apart at the end of takes too long to get good)
1. Until We Meet Again: I mean, this is top tier, plot heavy BL with an amazing cast and amazing characters and I just... genuinely love it from beginning to end.
2. He's Coming To Me: Again! Top tier, good plot, lots of great characters, fantastic chemistry, just A+.
3. En Of Love: Tossara: No plot. No conflict. Just fluff. I love these boys so much.
4. History 3: Trapped: Shut up, I love it, I don't care about the plot holes. I love all the boys and I have decided he's not in prison for life.
5. Gaya Sa Pelikula: Heartbreaking and beautiful and, no, i won't ever rewatch it and, yes, I'm watching the scandal around it and yes that hurts but ugh it was such an amazing show.
6. You Are Ma Boy: I love this show. It's so darling and so perfect and I love V-BL but most of the shows don't make it to this high of a level, I cannot deny despite my life.
7. A Tale of a Thousand Stars: Plot heavy, soft AF, filled with amazing characters and deep moments and then the soft, fluffiest ending? Yes.
8. Cherry Magic: Absolute perfection. Fluff and plot and ACTUAL ADULTS and the sweetest boys ever and the tiniest pining Kurosawa and just... ugh, yes.
9. Color Rush: It is a show about gay boys that made a giant metaphor about being gay WITHOUT making being gay the actual problem and it's just amazing like that.
10. History 2: Right or Wrong: Shut up. I love it. You can all go away.
11. The Man Who Defied the World of BL: It's basically perfect. I mean... Like... how can you improve on this?
There you are. My top tier BLs that I would recommend to other people and think are fantastic from start to finish AND are series.

Top 5 Tossara moments!
Oooo, this is a GOOD one.
1. When Gun defends Bar in the comment section on facebook and all his friends are laughing and poking fun but Bar is also so obviously impressed and a bit smitten and he just doesn’t know how to handle it. 2. When Gun brings the cake for their weekiversary and Bar complains that he got too much because he bought enough for the friends as well. What a sweet moment and one of the first ones where Bar genuinely starts to admit his feelings. 3. Bar being sulky about Gun missing their lunch. Gun brings him the food and Bar admits to worrying. It’s so, so good and so adorable and their friends are just being idiots in the background and I absolutely love it so much. 4. When Bar admits he’s jealous of Na and the easy affection between Na and Gun. COMMUNICATION. COM.MUN. I. CA. TION!!!! 5. After the exams, when Gun is ‘asleep’ and Bar talks about them moving in together and how worried he was and how much he loves him. Ugh, their honesty and softness and love. I do love this show SO much.
