Happy 10th Anniversary, Wreck-It Ralph!
Tumblr media
On this day in 2012, Wreck-It Ralph premiered in theaters to the general public!
It honestly doesn't feel like 10 years at all to me—I've greatly enjoyed my time in the fandom, and there's so much in this movie to inspire analysis and creativity that it still feels just as fresh as when I first saw it.
As usual, I want thank WIR's crew and my friends here for all they've contributed to this film and its fandom. While I'm a fan of quite a few works with heavy online presence, this is the only one where I've been interested in actively participating in the fandom. Times may have been rough recently but I still have more stories in progress and more headcanons to share, especially for such a milestone anniversary!
Wrecklings: here's to another year, another decade, and beyond! I love you guys, and keep wreckin'!

Hello there everyone, and welcome to night twenty-five of the eighth annual Wreck-it Ralph Pin Post Month!
Tonight we’ve got a special pin! The WDW, Heroes vs Villains Pin Event, Multi-Plane, Wreck-it Ralph pin. LE 1000.
Here we have another very unique pin created for the Heroes vs Villains pin event hosted online on December 4, 2021. A multi-plane, shadow box pin that features Fix-it Felix and King Candy aka Turbo along with their respective home games. Fix-it Felix Junior and Turbo Time, both contained within the shadowboxes as the 8-bit layout of each game as seen in the movie. This pin is considered a stained glass pin due to the clear acetate used in creating the shadowbox. Keeping the interior safe from damage while creating the illusion of a screen for the high scores to cling onto.
This is a triple layered heavy pin, one that is actually smaller then someone may assume though holds so much within its tiny space. The details of the games beneath the screens are printed directly onto the layered metal sheets that make up the pin. With half of each screen being pushed up further then the other, creating more depth for the shadow effect. Then there are the models of Felix and King Candy on the outside of the screen. Given added depth as well simply by giving them a slightly slanted metal border around the parts that overlap the screens. Perhaps to give them the illusion of a shadow as well, as it certainly gives each of them a more 3D look. This is the sort of pin that is very fun to tilt in your hands in order to peek on all the hidden details that simply can’t be captured in a photo alone. Though it is also a pin that is much more delicate then others, and probably should not be worn. Despite this, it is a fantastic one to display and is truly one of the most unique Wreck-it Ralph pins made.

King Candy/Turbo is one of the best Disney villains ever with so many clever hints that he doesn’t belong in Sugar Rush and that Vanellope is the game’s true ruler:
The fact he resembles an American 50s cartoon character while all the other Sugar Rush racers have an anime-esque design, along with his simple name (King Candy) compared to their vibrant pun-based names (Taffyta Muttonfudge, Snowanna Rainbeau, Jubileena Bing-Bing, etc)
The announcer for his name sounding different from the other racers’ names being announced, as if he voiced it himself.
His code box being gigantic to match the size of his ego.
The camera panning through Litwak’s Arcade at the beginning showing Vanellope’s picture on the side of the game cabinet, driving the kart that King Candy uses.
King Candy’s castle being coloured pink (or salmon, as he insists), a colour many would find more suiting for a little girl.
Vanellope being the only character who has “von” in her name, which is usually used for people of nobility.
King Candy being the only one in Sugar Rush who recognises Ralph, given that Fix-It Felix Jr. was right next to his old game Turbo Time.
Vanellope improving her driving skills quickly, hinting that she really is part of the game.
King Candy having the Konami Code written on a napkin from Tappers, hinting he was part of the arcade before Sugar Rush got plugged in.

Happy 10th anniversary to “Wreck-It Ralph”!!! I can’t believe it’s already been a decade 😲 This movie came out when I was 12 and, I’ll be honest, I wasn’t really interested in it at first 😶😅 I think when I started to see some of my friends get into it is when I really started to pay attention to it, developing the biggest crush on adorable Felix, a great admiration for Calhoun’s bad@ss self, and of course, loving every bit of their super cute chemistry together 🥰 From thereon, it was hardcore shipping of these two and endless scouring the Internet for as much fanarts and fanfics of them xD As I still sit and decide when I am going to make my own art or story of my favorite OTP, Here is my contribution to the month-long celebration of the movie, a Hero’s Cuties collage :)

This is my art done for the 10 Years of Wrecking event last month, in celebration of Wreck-it Ralph’s 10 year anniversary! I’m suuuper late posting this, but I promise I did... most of these on time. I did good with weeks 1-4, okay?! Besides, it’s kinda poetic to have this post today, considering my wife @turbomun & I first spoke on Dec 23, 2012.
Week 1 - Felix & Ralph. Week 2 - Ralph & Vanellope Week 3 - Hero’s Cuties Week 4 - the Core Four Week 5 - Free space, turned into Ghostboy! Turbo week, in honor of the fanfic that changed my life forever!
Not entirely satisfied - could use some tweaks here & there. Ralph’s hair always gave me trouble, facial proportions are off here & there, Sarge’s eyes are a bit too big... But overall, I’m satisfied. Especially since I was drawing A LOT through November.
Thank you, @bashfulgnome, @sgtcalhouns, and @ask-icancraft-it for the prompts & acknowledgement of this wonderful movie!

Happy 10th Anniversary Wreck it Ralph!
Time really does fly doesn't it? I was in school when this incredible film came out and now I'm one year out of Uni.
The Wreck it Ralph fandom was the first one I ever joined and it was my introduction to Internet culture as well as video game culture as a whole.
Extra shout out to Sonic! If it wasn't for that blue hedgehog being on that poster, I wouldn't have watched a film that led me down a whole new career path and I wouldn't be where I am today!
Below is one of my first fanarts I ever made! (This was in 2013 I think?) Its crazy that you can still see it's my art style even back then lmao!
Happy Anniversary everyone! ❤💙💛💚

The Easy Way
Even though he has a magic hammer that can fix anything, there are still some tasks that Felix enjoys doing the old-fashioned way.
hello!! have a cute little arcade-verse drabble!! I just wanted something cute for the cuties before 10 years of wrecking was over. I hope you enjoy!!
It was quiet in the apartment when Tamora stepped out of the shower.
Too quiet.
The sounds of Felix’s evening routine had become all too familiar to her--the sizzle of food in a frying pan, the chatter as he exchanged niceties with Mary when she brought over a pie, the jingle of his hammer as he made small repairs for his friends and neighbors. Not to mention the way he was constantly humming, or whistling, or singing to himself. But now, as she dressed herself in comfortable sweatpants and a T-shirt for their low-key evening, she didn’t hear a thing.
Curious, she stepped out into the living room and found Felix seated on the couch holding one of his work gloves in his hand. She watched as he reached for a nearby bottle of some sort of brown liquid, poured it onto a cloth, and carefully worked it into the leather of his glove. He was so engrossed in his task that he didn’t notice her standing in the doorway, and he jumped when he finally caught her shape moving in his peripheral vision.
“Jiminy, you scared me,” he sighed with a hand over his heart. “We’re gonna have to get you a bell if you’re gonna be so quiet all the time.”
They shared a chuckle.
“What are you doing?” she asked, glancing down at the unfinished project in his hands.
“Oh, I’m just conditioning the leather,” he explained, motioning for her to come closer. She sat beside him on the couch. “It helps keep my gloves nice and soft and stops them from drying out.”
He picked up where he had left off, using the cloth to gently wipe the excess product off of his gloves. She watched him for a moment before a thought occurred to her.
“Couldn’t you just use your hammer for that?” she asked.
“I suppose I could,” he shrugged. “But there’s just somethin’ relaxing about the process for me. It feels good to sit down and take the time to do something nice for yourself every now and again.”
“I guess that’s true,” she commented.
In truth, she couldn’t even remember the last time she had done something for her sole benefit; there was no time for such trivial things when you commanded an entire platoon day in and day out. Felix, on the other hand, always seemed to be doing something nice for someone. She was glad to see that, at least occasionally, he extended this generosity inward.
“Plus... I don’t know, this might sound silly, but...” he trailed off, looking somewhat bashful as he continued. “Even though my hammer can fix anything, it’s nice to know that I’m still capable of doing things for myself without it. That I’m not entirely useless on my own.”
His words stopped Tamora in her tracks. He had always been open with her about his feelings, and she was well aware of many of his insecurities, but she had never been let in on this piece of information. To know that Felix doubted himself when he wasn’t using his hammer shocked her--he always seemed so sure of himself, and she’d had complete confidence in his abilities since he lifted her out of the Nesquik Sand the day they met.
“It’s not silly,” she assured him, “but I hope you know you’re so much more than your hammer.”
He set his materials down and looked up at her questioningly.
"That’s not what makes you who you are. You’re always going out of your way to help others, you’re unbelievably optimistic, and you never take the easy way out,” she explained. “Your hammer doesn’t have anything to do with that. You’re far from useless without it.”
His cheeks flushed as she spoke; it wasn’t often that she praised him so openly, and he thought he might burst as a result. He had no idea she felt this way, and it filled him with pride to know that she thought so highly of him. The way she unabashedly commended his character nearly left him speechless.
“Thank you for saying that,” he said, reaching for her hand. “It really means a lot to me that you feel that way.”
Felix leaned up to kiss her cheek, and Tamora smiled down at him. The more she thought about it, the more it made sense: he truly never took the easy way out, and that fact was what had brought them together in the first place. A lesser man would have never been able to stand alongside her through thick and thin the way he had.
“I’m sorry I didn’t say it sooner,” she replied. “You’re a good man, Felix.”
She leaned down to capture his lips in a proper kiss that she made linger. Now he was really speechless. He was flushed up to his ears when she released him, and he looked positively giddy as he gazed up at her.
“You know,” he said, “you’re pretty incredible, too.”
“Oh yeah?” she teased.
He closed the gap between them to kiss her again.
“Mmhmm,” he murmured against her lips.
He leaned forward to claim her lips once more, but stopped short when he realized she had pulled away from him. Pouting, he looked up at her.
“Why don’t you finish that and then you can tell me all about it?” she said with a sly grin.
He was pulled out of his stupor as he looked down at his work gloves, which were still coated in leather conditioner. Before he even had the chance to reach for his hammer, Tamora’s voice stopped him.
“And no shortcuts,” she said as she stood from the couch and headed toward his bedroom.
He frowned in her direction, but faltered as soon as he heard her laughing at the sight. She had fully disappeared into the bedroom when he heard her call out to him one last time:
“Once you finish, you can come show me just how useful those hands can be.”

Happy 10 years of Wrecking!
I missed Ralph and Felix week (life is way too busy), but wanted to contribute to it in the best way I know how and that’s by fanfiction! Here’s a little something :)
Stargazing
Ralph had gazed upon the pixelated stars of Niceland for 30 years. The little twinkling lights were like old friends who were always there for him no matter how bad he wrecked everything. They didn’t judge, didn’t accuse. They twinkled down at him, bringing comfort.
:readmore:
He’d spent his entire life sleeping under these stars in his pile of bricks, but tonight…well, tonight was his last night sleeping under their eternal glow. His shack was complete, and as excited as he was to finally – finally! – have a place to call his own, he’d miss the glow of the stars shining on him as he slept.
He’d left Vanellope in Sugar Rush to get some much needed rest after a hard day of racing. He’d come back to Niceland and put the finishing touches on his shack. The world was quiet in and outside of his gaming cabinet, save for the chirpy crickets in the distance that accompanied the programming of his game.
Ralph startled at the sound of the tram bumping to a halt, the noise disrupting the quiet that enveloped the area. He pushed up on his elbows, craning to see who was being a gremlin and staying out to all hours of the night – half expecting the green blur of Vanellope glitching toward him.
But, instead, blue caught his eye and Ralph smirked as Felix hopped out the tram, accompanied by his familiar boing. Ralph didn’t mean to startle the handyman, but when their eyes made contact, Felix flinched and immediately turned a funny shade of red. He gritted his teeth and offered Ralph a little, sheepish wave.
Ralph chuckled to himself. Felix was never one to stay out late outside of their cabinet, and he definitely never snuck around. Ralph waved, attempting to assure Felix that it was okay to live his life and not be shamed of it. Felix had found something he enjoyed, besides fixing things and tending to the Nicelanders. He was happy for the handyman, who he was slowly building a friendship with.
Felix shuffled over to him, rubbing his neck in a nervous twitch. “Heya, Ralph!” he greeted brightly and just a little strained, though Ralph knew the slight strain wasn’t because Felix was wary of him anymore.
“Hey, buddy.” Ralph grinned, sitting up from his reclined position and leaning back on his meaty hands. “How was your night with Calhoun?”
Felix bloomed even redder. Then, his mouth split into a smile. “Just dandy! What a gal I scored, Ralph!”
“You two seem happy,” Ralph offered, not quite sure what else to say. He’d never been in a relationship and as far as he knew, this was new territory for Felix as well. “Didn’t think it was possible to see a smile on Calhoun’s face, but you make it happen.”
Felix shrugged a shoulder, attempting to be humble but obviously delighting in the fact. “Well, I try.” He looked around as if he just noticed the shack was there. “How’s your new abode coming along?”
Felix had offered to help make the process quick by using his magic hammer. Ralph had politely declined the offer. He wanted to use his hands to build, not tear down, for once in his life. Brick by brick, encountering several mishaps and slight annoyances, he had built his shack and he was mighty proud of his accomplishment.
“It’s finished,” Ralph replied with a smile he couldn’t keep from his face even if he tried.
“Good for you, Ralph!” Felix pointed at him, sounding genuinely happy for him. “Do you mind if I have a look over?”
Ralph’s first reaction was to tense up. Him and Felix were trying to develop a friendship after all the mess he had made, and so far, it was going well. But, there was always that little niggle in the back of Ralph’s mind that it could fall apart at any time. Ralph pushed the anxiety down.
“Sure, buddy.”
Felix wandered about, inspecting the structure. He leaned in to get a closer look, and even tested a couple places for durability. The whole time, Ralph sat there on pins and needles hoping to get a good report. After a few minutes, Felix rejoined him, his hands on his hips.
He smiled. “You did pretty good, brother.”
Ralph felt a strange twinge in his chest. He hadn’t realized how much he needed to hear that from Felix. He swallowed around the lump in his throat. “Thanks, Felix. Means a lot.”
Felix nodded. “Guess I’ll head up to my place. Get some shut eye. Enjoy the rest of your evening.”
“Thanks. You too. Goodnight, Felix.”
“’Night, Ralph.” Felix tipped his hat before spinning on his heel to walk away.
Ralph watch Felix until he was almost to the apartment building. Then he turned his eyes upward and continued his task of soaking in the view of the stars. His life had changed drastically in the past several weeks, and he was grateful for every bit of that change. At least, there was one good thing he could take away from his old way of life and that was gazing at the stars.

For the character ask meme, since it's the first week of Wrecking week, let's hear your thoughts on Wreck It Ralph. 12 and 23.
Ooh, a way to participate in 10 Years of Wrecking! Yes!
12. Sexuality hc!
I feel like Bad Anon and maybe Calhoun were like, alright, so here’s all the info about the sexual identities, you pick what sounds right for you.
I’m personally waffling between bisexual and pansexual.
23. Future headcanon
I’m thinking about the polyship Ralph/Felix/Calhoun (also called bara sandwich) and how that vibed so much with me.
Ralph moving in with Felix and Calhoun at some point in between WIR and WIR2. (But this also ignores WIR2 lol)

I have a new essay for everyone its called "OFMD S2 is an insult to Con O'Neill both as a person and his legacy in his acting career as a queer man"
Like, this man did not spend his ENTIRE FUCKING CAREER playing almost exclusively openly queer or heavily, heavily coded queer characters to be treated like this??? In fucking 2023??????? He got better, more queer happy endings in the 80s and 2000s, the fuck?
Tumblr media
I think it's incredibly telling that David felt like he had to hide what he was doing with Iz' character arc from Con till it was too late in filming. Hey, hey David? What did you think he was gonna do if he knew beforehand what was happening?? David? David do you think he would've walked? Do you think he would've used his leverage both as the fan favorite and integral part of the story to demand BETTER from you and everyone else writing the show?
Con has been making queer art since the fucking 80s when he was in his 20s. He has openly talked about trans rights and the fight against homophobia that we have been fighting for years and decades. I can't imagine what kind of push back he had to deal with to get all the gay shit he was doing to come to fruition. I can guarantee that at least part of the reason he doesn't have as big of a career as he absolutely deserves is because of how openly queer he has been since the start. I think if Con had been allowed to have some input in the direction of Izzy's character that something like this wouldn't have happened, at least not this messily and uncompassionate.
I legit can't imagine how fucked he must've felt after being given the genuinely very beautiful Unicorn scene and then be casually taken aside and told "lolol anyway Izzy is gonna die now, without love and without the acceptance he had already been given". But at least he was given a cuddle????
Anyway watch Dancin' Thru The Dark. Its on YouTube and it's about an openly genderqueer/bi man who goes on a sad but fun music adventure and it's actually really really good. Con sings and its a fucking bop AND he doesn't die at the end or watch Bedrooms And Hallways, it's a fun romcom about a found family of all queer people doing stupid gay shit. Also you can see Hugo Weaving's entire dick and balls in one scene and if that's not better gay rep then ofmd s2 then idk what is

Hello there everyone, and welcome to night twenty-eight of the eighth annual Wreck-it Ralph Pin Post Month!
Tonight we have our last anniversary pin of the month, The DEC, Wreck-it Ralph 10th Anniversary, Sugar Rush Gummies, Wreck-it Ralph pin. LE 250.
This is the fifth and final pin that was released on September 1, 2022 in order to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Wreck-it Ralph movie. Along with the four other pins in this release, it was made available online for purchase at the Disney Employee Center exclusively for Disney cast members and employees. Much like the other pins in this collection, this pin features a number ten in the background, this time depicting the scenery of Sugar Rush on its rounded surface. While the foreground of the pin features several characters from the movie, this time being Vanellope Von Schweetz, King Candy, Snowanna Rainbeau, and Sour Bill along with a few faces of Sugar Rush citizens.
Of all the pins in this release, this one appears to be the busiest with how much was managed to be fit upon it. There is Vanellope with her arms thrown out in celebration, as she leans joyfully forward on her toes. King Candy who appears to be calmly waving while flipping a valuable racing entry token off his hand. Snowanna Rainbeau supporting her afro while taking her classic pose she normally takes on the character selection screen seen in the movie. Then there is Sour Bill standing alone in the upper corner, looking content while smiling down on the others. It certainly looks as though they are having some kind of celebration, perhaps for the anniversary of their movie as that is the theme of this pin. Unfortunately the crowding of this pin did come at the cost of detail as seen in the lack of pattern on King Candy’s collar, and the squished looks of their hands. Though it certainly is a festive pin, one that brings thoughts of great celebrations in the streets as that looks to be the setting of the pin.

Something just occurred to me:
If by some miracle, Vanellope had had a real kart that wasn’t pedal-powered, the Sugar Rush racers had been a lot nicer to her and King Candy/Turbo wasn’t an attention-hungry glory hog, they could’ve let her race with them but not let her finish in the top nine.
Vanellope would get to fulfil her dream of being a racer, there wouldn’t be any risk of her being added to the roster and getting the game unplugged (as far as the Sugar Rush citizens know), everyone wins. Yes, even that evil bastard King Candy.
