I returned to the Lands Between to find the academy in shambles and the dynasty of the Full Moon cut short. Raya Lucaria has gone dark, and the Queen is a shadow of her former self. For all we thought it could do, glintstone has failed us - its glow now as uncaring as this land has become. I have fled Liurnia, and on my way I have met the Prince of Death, gold and black as a funeral procession. I have plucked a dark bird from the sky and used its skull for a staff. I have communed with an ancestral spirit, a creature that walks on air and breathes power older than the Moon herself. It has crowned me with its horns. They are as heavy as my old Carian cloak - so I’ve left that behind. Can I still call myself an astrologer, looking up at the false sky of the Eternal Cities? Or is this one heresy too many? At least I remember my own name. There is no one left to say it now, so I will.

Headcanons:

Vox doesn't work out for shit. He would even forget to eat if Val and Vel didn't check on him at least once a day.

Val denies it saying that he is "naturally this good" but in reality he hits the gym quite often to be always in top shape and he does a lot of squats (to keep his ass round).

Vel publicly goes to te gym a lot to shoot video and to snap pictures. It's unclear if she also work out while she is there.

I love how many routes of Slay the Princess there are, how many ways to be. On my third playthrough of the game right now, and so far I’ve played as…

a curious and cautious participant, watching my body perform its bound tasks in a Cage I helped to create. I’ve grown ambivalent towards personhood and fallen in love with an eldritch god, exploring various worlds and searching for ways to make peace with the only other person I’ve met.

a selfish and clever opponent, meeting my circumstances with a violent eagerness that slowly rotted into a tangle of hatred deep inside me. I’ve felt that hatred leach out of me like infection from a wound as I held the Wounded Wild, and I’ve tried to grow again, laying down my blade in hopes of creating something better for myself and my companion.

a coward who nonetheless would not be trampled by a proud god, who was reduced to powerless flesh by the Fury and then rose above it, who was broken and molded into the perfect tool in a Moment of Clarity, who is so desperate for the free will that was repeatedly denied me that I have grown to resent the only other person I’ve known.

In playing this game I have been so many people, and I have loved and been horrified by them all, and understood their actions, and hated their suffering and the suffering they have inflicted. This game contains multitudes, and my experience of it has been something so incredibly profound.

Anyway. I love this game.

i'm not known to brag. i don't like it. but today, i think i deserve a bit of it.

as some fo you already know, around five years ago i went back to university. i had already studied journalism when i was younger (when i was due to, one may say) but when, after several life-changing decisions, i ended up coming back to my parents and having more free time, i went back to school.

i was 37 at the moment.

it has not been easy, i can tell you that. it's been excruciating most of the time, having to juggle all the responsibilities of a full grown-up life with studying and papers and classes. this time around, being unable to attend classes in person has made for a particularly lonely experience.

studying when you're older is not an easy path. i don't have the same energy, and i feel like i don't remember things as easily as i did when i was 20. and studying when most of the time you don't have the support of live classes (hello, uned madrid, thanks for cancelling classes on the most difficult subjects at the very last minute), that is an adventure if i've ever known one.

but here we are, almost five years later, with just three classes left. i have taken the last two exams, since the last class is based on a paper, and i have passed at least one of those. still waiting on the other one, but i doubt it'll take them much more to give us the grades.

in this five years, i have passed every single subject with flying colors except for two that i needed to retake, and then i passed them with good grades. i've gotten nine mentions of honor throughout the whole thing (i've had 50 different subjects, and i know 9 is not that many but it's a lot in my book). all while working and helping at home and trying to rebuild my life after a really bad series of unfortunate events.

so yeah, bear with me while i wait here for my last grade to be dropped, because i think i have all the right to brag.

A Review

@fluffbruary drarry drabble for the prompt, interlude.

Falling in love with Draco Malfoy is an unusual affair.

First, it’s not love, but an odd sort of admirable disdain in the midst of a clever insult that Harry almost thanks him for.

Second comes a steady microdosing of oddities of personality and habit: lack of personal space (increasingly desirable), occasional sleep-talking (cute if Harry really thinks about it), an inability to sit still (“charming”). 

Third, after a brief interlude in which Harry and Draco enjoy the view from inside their own arses: overwhelming intoxication from a single glance, secrets only Harry knows, sleepy mornings.

10/10, would recommend.
