did i miss something? bas are still bragging about how that montage in 4x17 was really meaningful, but i recall it merely being all scenes with ba in the same frame and compiled without context. do you think that that scene actually meant anything (given how downhill everything went from there)?
sorry this is late, doll. i got boosted and it knocked me on my ass and i have a deadline for work by the last day of the month—every month.😭
but to answer your question: they're always bragging. even when they have nothing to brag about. they take things, twist them until it fits into whatever narrative they agree with and then go from there.
also, wasn't that montage, like, most of the b/a scenes no matter the context because they don't really have enough to make much of anything unless they use what little they had?
we've all seen them take scenes totally out of context right? like, not even subjective stuff, yeah? like, literal they are saying the things out loud but they still think there's some 5 year conspiracy theory of it all being hush-hush just for them levels of subjectivity.
and no, i don't. roberto said they were going to bring back bh/va together in s5, that was the original plan. so even if their last minute swerve in s5 is what it was, the montage wasn't nearly as pointed as the one in 5x03.
and guys, i know everyone believes what they want (and that's cool with me) but there's believing what you want and ignoring the very clear intention of the writing. listen, they don't like veronica (or betty a lot of the time but whatever, there are other stans who act like betty killed their cat or something it's very weird of them) and that's whatever but people acting like the writers are writing her to be pathetic and archie has never loved her is pretty delusional.
the writers aren't writing veronica with some comics betty-esque vibes just to embarrass her. they very much write her with the brand of feminism that reeks of being written by men who have patted a woman on the head and said she's cute before dismissing her entirely. and they think they're doing a bang-up job of it too.
and let's be real, they were very arrogant and obnoxious during the 2020 hiatus as well. and then they lost their shit when the season didn't end with a b/a love confession (again, something the writing never backed up but they decided it's what must be happening) and then they lost their shit after 5x08 (and again, the writing never backed up their expectations). now, the only reason they're acting like they are after the 100th is because b/a was in the promo for 6b. do i think their expectations are going to far exceed what the show is going to give them? i mean...yeah. i do.
but we have a fandom full of people (on lots of sides, tbf) that pull entire motivations and meanings out of small things and have no concept of how marketing, cinematography, subtext, text, or narratives work. so why anyone wastes their time on it instead of keeping it moving i will never know.
honestly, i have no idea why anyone pays attention to them. they said we were wrong about rivervale not being riverdale's universe, they said we were wrong about the horror genre thing (even tho it was beyond obvious based on the trailer alone), they said that archie and betty were going to be so in love and couldn't wait to be married and have a baby (uh. yeah. we all know what happened there), and they also told us that bughead was going to be pointless to the 100th while archie and betty were going to get married and live happily ever after even tho the whole climax and crux of the episode depended on bughead's interactions.
and seriously, even when they get some b/a leaning latam account giving out spoilers for 5x19 they were mostly wrong because context matters. even evan, their b/a warrior promotes episodes with little to no or flat out bad b/a content because he might like the ship but he likes the engagement a whole lot more. i get it, you know, the whole twitter stan wars they have going on but if you replace their b/archie fervor with other talking points, they all sound like performative activists who are probably low key anti-vaxxers with major puri-teen vibes. block and move on. that they're far more interested in fighting or degrading bugheads instead of enjoying their content or each other outside of feeling superior within their echo chamber just tells you what energy they're giving and no one needs to waste their time entertaining them.

I'm in a ranting mood now so I'm gonna give my 2 cents on Supercorp.
Season 2:
In season 2 Kara and Lena were actually written pretty well. They were friends, they hugged, snuggled on the couch had food together, went to gala's together, defended the other behind their back and that kind of thing. And of course all the times Supergirl saved Lena. We'd be here forever if I mentioned everything lol. There was definitely some flirting happening. They were written as friends but there was absolutely something there the writers could have explored.
Season 3:
A little odd in terms of Kara and Lena. It's like the CW said 'I see you Supercorp shippers and I raise you a season of them barely interacting alone.' They fought and made up again at work, Kara tried to convince drunk Lena that she's good, they were sweet at the Christmas party with everyone, just all of 3x12, and then there was the hugs in 3x18 and 3x21. We had some Supergirl saves but Lena's relationship with Supergirl ended up on the rocks. They were written very much 'no homo' this season compared to season 2. There wasn't really any super obvious flirting, there were romantic parallels with the risking of identity though. Overall we didn't really get to see much of them existing together. Plus Lena started dating James. Alex and Lena got some really good development though so that's a plus.
Season 4:
They definitely interacted much more than in season 3. They were happy to see each other at the beginning, 4x02 was a goldmine of hugging, Lena protecting Kara, Kara protecting Lena, the works. Lena made the power rangers suit while she was still mad at Supergirl, she broke up with James, she was worried about Kara at the hospital, they had an argument in 4x19 and made up (after Kara longingly stared at a picture of Lena on her phone), Lena cried on Kara as Kara waxed poetic about how wonderful Lena is, just the entirety of 4x20. Plus Lena and Supergirl's relationship was mended. Season 4b had a lot of romantic undertones imo. The classic red/blue colour scheme, Kara staring at the picture, the sheer concern they both had for each other, how hurt Lena was that she hadn't seen Kara for a while after not seeing her for weeks on end just the season before, and where do I start with 4x20!? The looks they gave each other on the plane, how worried Lena was for Kara when the plane was crashing, all the physical contact, Kara's tape recorder stopped Lena from being stabbed, the concern and hugging again at the end, how defensive Lena got over wanting to apologize and the almost reveal. They obviously love each other, platonic or otherwise. Kara gives much more platonic love vibes at this point. Although the raw panic and concern and "Thank god you're okay"s from Lena this episode made me think that she loves Kara a little more than platonically. I'd always shipped Supercorp for fun but 4x20 made me wonder if they were really going to go down that road. This is me > 🤡 Because then we had the reveal.
Season *gags* Season 5
You watched it, we've all seen it. I'm terribly sorry to bring it up again. Season 5 I understood why people called them queerbait. Up until then I'd been like "yes to us these two are super gay but this can all (mostly) pass as platonic, I understand wanting them together but I don't think it's queerbait." And you don't have to come for me, because season 5 came for my JUGULAR. What the hell. Kara telling Lena she's Supergirl was heartbreaking, Kara has very rarely been that upset, don't even talk to me about the Romeo and Juliet ass shot 5 seconds beforehand. Then at the beginning when everything is 'fine' Kara seems unable to stop comparing herself and Lena to Alex and Kelly. You know? The canon lesbian relationship!? "For a friend like you there are no boundaries" Kara flying around the world to get Lena's favourite food...In the show that said "Maybe giving food is Brainy's language of love." 💀 "You Mean the World to Me" Playing over Kara and Lena scenes and Alex and Kelly scenes. Lena, even though she's mad, knowing that Kara will always save her. Lena's speech in the fortress deserves a post of it's own holy shit. She shot Lex for Kara, Kara made her trust people again, she loves Kara so much and I personally think that part of her anger stems from loving Kara in a more than friendly way and she's mad at herself for allowing that to happen and being so hurt and heartbroken after she finds out Kara's Supergirl. (watching this scene again hurts me just so y'all know) Kara is SO upset. Then we have 5x08 when Lena is panicking when the kryptonite cannons won't go off. "SHUT IT DOWN NOW!" Then there's 'Head Above Water' playing over Andrea and Russell. And then Kara and Lena staring at the same picture of them together. Come on. The whole 100th episode was about their relationship. She followed Kara out of the room Lex was celebrating in to give her a book on grief. Then Lex screams in her face and when she turns up at Kara's door after leaving him, her speech is so heartbreaking. She clearly misses Kara...a lot. Then she looks so SAD when she sees Kara and Alex hugging. She misses Kara's hugs 😭 Then "You can scream at me if you like I know I deserve it." - I hope we unpack that at some point. And she is so so upset when Kara doesn't accept her apology initially. (Although I have to say I find it interesting how much she brings up Kaznia, 5x07 and 5x19. You know how I feel about ep 4x20) Then she lays her life on the line for Kara. And when they FINALLY make up Lena's relief is actually palpable. Even if the writers don't follow through with this, they way they've written season 5 is undeniably romantic. I still get platonic...ish vibes from Kara, but definitely not from Lena.
Season 6:
Episode 2? I don't know her. But omg 6x01. Kara trusting Lena with Myriad "No matter what's happened I know what's in your heart." Kara talking about self sacrifice and Lena "I won't let you turn this into a suicide mission, I can't!" And why not Lena hmm? (This is very canon couple dialogue). Also they are SO VERY CATRADORA ARE YOU KIDDING ME. Kara the self-sacrificing hero (Adora) and Lena, the one who refuses to just accept the hero's sacrifice (Catra). Please even the whole evil or not evil, terrible family, traumatic childhood and hair colour are the same 😂. Anyways then we have "You're the only one in the galaxy I know would do right by it." I don't even know how that could be spun platonically. Kara really just said she trusts Lena more than her own sister. You two just made up 5 minutes ago. Kara opens up about her trauma to Lena!! Lena codes 'Lena Luthor Protocol' in about 2 minutes maybe? Because she needs Kara to stay alive. And to round it all out, she tells Alex to tell Kelly about Kara, because Kelly is Alex's person. Implying to us humble clowns that Kara is Lena's person.
The fact that I've written more about 6x01 than the entire season of flirting and flowers speaks volumes to me personally.
In conclusion, Supercorp is Catradora with a pair of glasses and it's hair tied up. I will go down with this ship and good night.

Fair warning: it's a long post. Let's examine some of the reasons that Kara has cited why she didn't tell Lena the super secret:
1. She wanted to protect her
Now, this one has some legs on it as Kara specifically mentions it in S3 during a conversation with James and Mon-El. And there's definitely some truth to it. But it's also bullshit. Lena was in constant danger and put herself at risk to save/protect Kara who didn't actually need it. In fact, the first time Lena's mentioned (not shown just mentioned) it's in regards to the venture explosion - something that happened because Lex was trying to kill her. People have been trying to kill, kidnap, manipulate, threaten Lena since minute one. Knowing Kara = SG would not have severely worsened any of that. In fact, it might've helped ease Lena's anxieties and resulted in her taking less risks with her life. In fact, I'm surprised Lena didn't think that Kara's association with her was putting Kara at risk (a far more likely thing).
The 100th episode addresses this to some degree in one of the AUs. Lena tells Kara that she wouldn't have had to risk her life dealing with Sam/Reign alone if she'd known the truth and she's absolutely right. And sure, Lena could've told SG and the DEO when she pieced Reign = Sam together but ask yourself, why would she? What assurance did she have that the DEO would not have treated her BEST FRIEND like a hostile instead of someone in need of help? The DEO is guilty of this and they have a history of locking up aliens indefinitely and on occassion straight up murder. After Reign nearly killed their biggest asset (i.e. SG) why in the hell would Lena trust them with helping Sam? She wouldn't nor should she have. She didn't know that she could go to SG because remember, Lena doesn't think of her the same way she does of Kara. SG is not her best friend. She doesn't have a personal, humanized relationship with her (at least not that she knows of). And obviously she's not going to tell Kara the human reporter with the DEO agent sister about it either. And the kryptonite? SG lost her shit over it even though she's been working with the DEO who stockpiled the stuff until SM left with it (a dumbass move that would've bit them so hard in the ass with the WK situation if it weren't for Lena's kryptonite!). Plus, Kara didn't have an issue with Oliver having a kryptonite arrow, J'onn having a sword. But Lena? How dare she!
So yea no. I get that "I kept my secret to protect you" is a popular thing in the hero world but in the case of Kara and Lena, it doesn't make sense and it did make situations unnecessarily harder.
2. She didn't trust Lena
This is mentioned by Kara to William in a deleted scene from S5 but I think it's worth exploring. I'm not sure to what extent Kara means with this but it could be referring to the moments as SG where she did display a distrust of Lena's intentions and she used Lena's personal relationships against her (i.e. asking James to break into Lena's lab). I mentioned the S3 shitshow with the kryptonite which is where a lot of this started but there's also other scenes in that same season where SG pretty much calls into question the so-called trust she has in Lena despite claiming otherwise. The switch was so abrupt the minute she learned Lena not only had but knew how to make kryptonite. Did anyone ever consider why Lena would bother learning how to make kryptonite? I'd hazard a guess that it was something she was looking into even before Sam/Reign. I think she happened to find Lex's stock and she decided to learn how it works and why it affects the Supers like it does. That would explain how Lena seems to be the ONLY ONE able to make an anti-kryptonite suit and other viable forms of the rock (i.e. Harun el). But no, SG and others immediately jump to the worst conclusions and associate the endeavour with Lena's last name, something SG KNOWS Lena is sensitive about it. And then the harun el. SG was suddenly fine with Lena making it when it was to split Sam from Reign and save Argo from extinction. But when it was used for something else that Lena didn't clue her in on (and what do you know, Alex, Brainy and James didn't either and they KNEW what Lena was doing with it) she got back on her high horse and the distrust became front and centre. You can't trust Lena as Kara and then immediately distrust her as SG and expect her to be accepting of this dichotomy. I'm surprised the woman managed to retain her sanity.
And still, this reasoning doesn't quite hit the mark in comparison to every other insistence of Kara believing in Lena (from day one she even told Clark that she believed Lena after meeting her for the first time). But the contrasting opinions and actions must have given Lena pause. I don't blame her to call into question which version of the truth was real and choosing to believe the worst. It's what SG and the SFs have been doing to her.
3. She was wary of Lena
This isn't an explicitly given reason but I do think it's how the secret keeping started in S2. Frankly, I don't even blame Kara for not showing her full deck in the beginning because she (and even us as an audience) didn't know much about Lena beyond wanting to do good and not be like her family. So no, Kara not telling Lena in the beginning actually makes sense to me (though she told Nia in a split second but that's neither here nor there). For me, I started to seriously take Lena at her word after the Medusa episode. That would've been the perfect opportunity for her to show the true "xenophobic" colours some parts of the fandom accuse her of having and she didn't do it. I don't think she even got so much as a thank you for it. People praise SM for getting Lex arrested but ultimately it was Lena's testimony that got him thrown behind bars. Same thing with Lillian! And yes, the daxamite invasion was facilitated by Lena unwittingly working with Rhea but she fixed it with the lead dispersal bomb, a device she allowed SG the privilege of using or not. So Kara and the SFs being cautious about Lena really should've evaporated halfway through S2 (and it did for Kara at least). In fact, the daxamite invasion may not have happened if Lena knew exactly who Rhea was and her relation to Mon-El because they would've warned Lena about it. Lena did want Kara's advice on Rhea and she would've waited for it if she knew what was going on (i.e. Alex being held hostage) and hell, might've been able to fix it in typical Lena ex machina fashion.
4. She didn't want to lose her
This is probably as close to the truth as we've gotten and it's actually part of her confession in 5x01 (something her outburst in 5x19 tries to undo). But the thing is, Kara KNEW this was a possibility and yet, continued walking towards the deadly cliff with her eyes wide open. The probability of losing Lena got higher and higher as time went on and it was always inevitable. There was always this spotlight placed on Kara telling Lena or Lena finding out on her own but there was always a HUGE chance that Lillian would've told her. Or Lex, which is exactly what happened. And Kara knew that they knew and yet she did nothing about it. The minute kara found out Lillian knew she should've taken action, what guarantee did she have that Lillian wouldn't have gotten bored of waiting for Lena to piece it together? How can they just leave Lillian with dangerous knowledge like that is beyond me. When Alex in particular has made such a big deal about people knowing, didn't want Kara telling Lena, only allowed Kara to tell Lucy to save J'onn and yet, letting Lillian amble about with this info is okay??? Nothing was stopping her from telling Lena or it slipping during one their chess games and definitely nothing stopping Lex from dropping that bomb.
The 100th episode AUs showed us that each time it was Kara telling the truth, no matter how hurt and upset Lena rightfully was, she was ultimately fine with it. And Kara ends up losing her to death, not because Lena walked away. How this wasn't the takeaway message for Kara after that adventure, idk. It was Kara's hesitatancy in telling Lena that allowed Lex to weaponize this secret and twist it into something it never was. And yes, Kara doesn't owe a damn soul her secret and has rarely ever been given the chance to tell anyone on her own terms (James - told by SM, Alex, J'onn, Brainy, Mon-El, the Legion - always knew, Lex & Lillian, Lord & Cat - found out somehow). She only ever got to tell Winn, Lucy and Nia and I'm sorry but none of those people have ever proven themselves trustworthy at the time of the reveal the way Lena has.
So while Kara is every right to keep her secrets, she was wrong to insert herself in Lena's life if she never had any intention of telling her and let's be honest, it really didn't seem like Kara had any timeline on that front.
5. She was selfish
Similar to the above and also mentioned during the confession but this is even deeper. Lena was something of an outlet for Kara, a way to feel completely normal, something she hasn't been able to experience with anyone, even Mon-El. Can you imagine being a cub reporter who knows powerful CEO Lena Luthor and having said CEO choose to spend time with you? Choose to let you interview her when she's wary of the press (remember her interactions with Clark in 2x01 and her family history)? Choose to treat your problems as important and valid and human? I don't blame Kara at all for being selfish with Lena, for wanting to keep Lena all to herself like that. But to not share the other aspects of herself was seriously wrong too and resulted in this imbalance in their relationship. To Lena, it looks like she was giving all of herself when Kara was not. It looks like she put all her trust and vulnerabilities out there when Kara didn't. It looks like Kara was using her (which let's be real, she kinda did a few times in S2 with the fight club and bs article to get info on Lillian and then ofc the CatCo-Edge problem she visited Lena for after ignoring her and proceeding to continue the rejection after Lena said she'd look into it).
You think post-reveal Lena didn't think back to all those moments and have those kinda thoughts? Even called into question what might've been the real reason James dated her and Kara was so insistent on befriending her? Were there perhaps times were she figured it out and can't remember and what's why she chose not to see it? Why do we think she still showed up game night in 4x22 instead of confronting Kara? Because these thoughts amongst others must've been swarming her mind and the only way to keep the upper hand is to continue playing dumb. So yes, Kara made the conscious decision to be selfish with Lena because of the unexpected connection they forged and I get it totally. But Lena has never been selfish and she's always made hard efforts to be a damn good friend (and she was idc what others might think on that) and open herself up to Kara despite how difficult and frankly foreign that is for her.
So are Kara's reasons valid? To a point, I would say yes but their validity waned over the seasons to the point where the secret keeping didn't even make sense anymore.
So was Lena's anger valid? Yes! 100% it was and honestly, I'm surprised she managed to keep it together for so long. I couldn't. But her anger doesn't justify her actions (mind control, manipulating Kara, threatening Russell, holding J'onn's bro captive, putting Hope inside Eve) and how she went out of her way to hurt Kara back. However, I get why she did it though it's worth pointing out that this is the only instances of a betrayal in her life where Lena has gone this far. Bitch straight up spiralled where previously she would cut ties and move the fuck on with life. But with Kara, that doesn't even seem to manifest itself to Lena as an option. Will the show ever address the obvious WHY for this and for Kara being so so terrified of losing Lena (like honestly I have never seen Kara look more distressed).
Maybe, maybe not but regardless I'm not buying this platonic friends nonsense because no one is that devastated over a friendship. Many of us (myself included) have experienced falling outs with very close friends and breakups. Which one do you think the Kara/Lena rift in S5 felt like? It was full on heartbreak, loving someone in complete torment and not being able to stop despite wanting to because even though it's painful, the alternative is infinitely worse.
MB and KM's acting choices aside, these idiot showrunners have brought us to this point with their own narrative and the only logical next step is to make them canon.
Lol okay I'm done.

Season 6: the horror! the horror!
The tight 5-episode format should generate anticipation and, yet, somehow it doesn’t.
A brief recap of 6a based on RAS’s podcast interview and The Trailer (now™)
Disclaimer: Though I saw the trailer with my own eyes (oof!), I didn’t hear the podcast with my own ears. All the podcast info will be linked. If there’s no link, it’s from the trailer.
* S5 was supposed to have varchie and bughead getting back together but that changed: “it felt like after the time jump, if we were going to sort of reset or shake up the status quo, it was the time to do it and then we sort of were like ‘okay time to bring Varchie back together, time to bring Betty and Jughead back together’ “
Simply put: we’ve been knew.
*In 6a supernatural is a real thing: Sabrina and Satan both make an appearance.
*6a’s genre is horror. (Let’s be real, the horror started in 4x17 …)
* 6a (5-ep event) is going to both have its own arc and be in continuity with s5-s6.
...
...
There are no words.
I take this to mean that, from 5x19 to 6x6, episodes will unfold chronologically but the writers are going to pick and choose which 6a storylines will apply in 6b and which will not. I mean … surely, I’m not the only one thinking that Satan will not actually become a Riverdale fixture … So, yeah, it still kind of is an au, RASNightmare Child.  On the other hand, the writers have been doing this since s2, so, you know, whatever …
* Somewhere between the show’s 96th and 100th episode a new canon will be established, according to which Cheryl and Sabrina have been acquaintances/friends all along. Riveting stuff.
* Remember how Kevin took his remaining kidney and left for Broadway? Well, you won’t believe it: he’s back in Riverdale …
* Also back in Riverdale are Dilton Doiley (#justiceforDilton) and Ethel Muggs. Are they real? Are they a hallucination? A dream? A flashback? 10 bucks says they won’t be there for the 101st episode.
* Nick StClair is also back.
* WHERE’S BRET, YOU EFFING COWARDS?!?!?!
* Toffee will probably not be back for the 100th episode. The writers decided she died off-screen. Probably just after someone asked Evan about her. It’s not as if showing a feeding bowl would have been that difficult. Toffee’s sole raison d’être was to munch on that severed hand in 5x04 and you cannot convince me otherwise. She’s savage, Toffee is. Meanwhile, Hero Archie’s new dog has appeared not only once but twice after his debut in Reservoir Dogs. Priorities.
* Cooper the Cat might appear in 6a. Or maybe his scene will be cut. Cooper the Cut?
* The artwork for the 6x05 script looks like TimePolice!Jughead. The artwork -much like the film references in the titles- is usually very loosely related to the plot. Take that as you like. Time-travelling? Lots of flashbacks? It’s the 100th episode, where everyone (AGAIN: EXCEPT BRET?!) is back.
* Also, this is the episode with the big shocking ending to tide viewers over till 6b starts… (one supposes).
* During 6x05 Betty (and Cheryl?) will wear identical clothes with 5x07. Could be a coincidence. Or not. At one point Betty will also wear a 50’s pillbox hat with a birdcage veil. Because why not?
* There will be more singing. (See above: 6a’s genre is horror).
* At one point, Nana Rose, Cheryl, inner circle cousin Betty and ex-girlfriend Toni will attempt to perform some magic.
* Nana Rose is in what appears to be her deathbed? Absolutely unacceptable. Cheryl and (I think?) Betty are with her.
* Is Betty there because she’s an FBI agent or is it because she’s simultaneously Cheryl’s 3rd cousin and the descendent of a totally different family (dating back in the 1890s)? Sometimes you don’t even have to choose between canons, ya know?
* Is the TBK still patiently waiting for 6a to be over or is he a part of it? Who knows? Who cares?
* Not Betty. In 6a Betty wants nothing more than to have Archie’s baby. Maybe it’s real. Maybe it’s a curse. I could come up with 10 different scenarios where that’s not even real and still not an au and another 10 where it is but if there’s one thing I will never do, is waste any time thinking about b*rchie.
* Tabitha is still at Pop’s. Presumably (5x19) Pop is also still at Pop’s. If/when I bindge watch s6, I shall note down how many times Alvin Sanders makes an appearance. Just for laughs.
* I’m taking bets as to whether we shall ever see Tabitha’s parents ever again. Also just for laughs.
* Jughead is speaking directly to the camera. Because this is not The Twilight Zone but a direct no-nonsense-about-it canon continuation of s5. Sure.
* Jughead’s fluffy rebellious curl is missing and you want me to believe this is not an au?! This is reason enough not to watch 6a.
* Jughead’s telescopic hand did not make an appearance around Tabitha but I’m presuming it will.
* RAS Nightmare Child still doesn’t know what “endgame” means.
* “We don’t have a set endgame in mind at this point.” What does this mean for Betty’s baby story? Don’t know. Don’t care. This was probably said as a means to entice the bughead and varchie shippers, yet I still can’t believe a showrunner publicly declared that his writers don’t have any set plan about s6. How is this supposed to entice viewership is anybody’s guess.
* This is the second time in 2 seasons that a trailer showing explicit b*rchie supposedly airs unbeknownst to the showrunner. What is even happening with this show?
* Nothing means anything anyway: RAS’s podcast interview discredited Evan’s interview which discredited Ted’s summer interview which … So, you know … whatever …
Yeah ...
So long, and thanks for all the fish, I guess.

Favourite supergirl episodes from any season?
What a really good question!... I think my favorites are (mostly) kind of comfort episodes.
Definitely 1x18 "World's Finest". It's the first Supergirl's crossover and the Flash was the chosen one to do it and introduced Kara and her team to the multiverse! It's sooo cute, they're both such cute and happy superheroes and their friendship is so pure, they are similar in many ways, I love them. The episode is really good and comfy and totally one of my favorites.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also 2x01 "The Adventures of Supergirl" bc that's the first time we see Supergirl teaming up with Superman and I love the family dynamic, plus is the introduction of Lena Luthor, such a great character that quickly became an essential part of the show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course 5x13 "It's A Super Life", the 100th episode! because it's all about Kara and Lena, my favorite ones, their relationship and sure there was so much angst, specially for the last part but in general I think it was a good episode, also comfy bc there wasn't even a villain or a city danger or something like that, it was all magic time/reality travel and alternation and I loved it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aaaaand 5x19 "Immortal Kombat" / 6x01 "Rebirth". I put them together bc I feel it's the same episode haha. The 5x19 wasn't supposed to be the season finale but I gotta say I think it was better being the last one bc that way season 6 had a really strong beginning. 5x19 had the reconciliation of Lena and Kara and also Lena risking her life to save her. It was great to see all the team together again. And the 6x01 had touching moments, Brainy almost dying saving everyone from Leviathan, Kara basically said goodbye to the team bc she kinda sacrificed herself to save the world, then Lena saved her (again) and then she was sent to the Phantom zone. Of course not everything was right in those ep, clearly sending Kara into the PZ has been really messy and decadent but well, she was just sent in that episode. Overall they were exciting episodes and I really appreciate and thank that.

Sorry if I wrote too much, It's kind of hard to choose the favorites! Haha

Supergirl 6x01 Rebirth
How to make a finale a premiere. Problematic patterns show up more when things are bumped out of alignment. The pattern of Supergirl is a promising few episodes, a stagnant and contradictory middle stretch, key emotional moments happening three episodes before the finale, two action and CGI heavy episodes to finish on an adrenaline high with everything right in the world, and a few minutes at the end to set up the next season. Season 5 also had nostalgia call backs to previous seasons as it contained the 100th episode.
The Leviathan plot is wrapped up before the opening credits. “Technology is bad” is a poor theme at the best of times, but in a pandemic where the only contact we had with the outside world was through the Internet, it was a spectacular flop. Cue the Scooby Doo, “The real villain isn’t monsters/aliens, but a rich white man.” We’ve been here before – Lex Luthor was the mastermind behind a blank slate Kara falling into his lap in season 4. This time, he’s resurrected by an alien, told he is important as a Paragon of Truth and necessary to restore the cosmos, and likely bent the universe to his will by only having one universe so there was only one outcome. Apparently ruling America wasn’t enough. He took one look at the Anti-Monitor, saw even more aliens land in his lap, and wanted their power/resources to ensure everyone everywhere loves him or dies (there’s a colonialization metaphor here I’m sure). Brainy’s attempt to bottle Leviathan just gives Lex a condensed form of immortality, administered via the alien juice extractors from season 4 (slavery).
Enter the MacGuffin. The logic goes that specific minerals from Krypton’s solar system planets will harm people from it while on Earth. It’s Kryptonite for Kryptonians. It’s something I’m not going to attempt to pronounce from Leviathan’s planet. (It’s a shame this logic didn’t apply to Daxamites back in season 2. Thankfully Earth has plenty of poisonous lead for those aliens.) What do you know, there’s a small amount of it on Earth than Leviathan brought with them when their planet exploded. It is the most doomed solar system in the cosmos. The plan is to shoot immortal Lex with this rare Leviathan mineral, to make him mortal again. It takes two attempts, but the plan works.
Mortal Lex still has his memory, but the technology theme of “It depends on how you use it” comes into play. Myriad in the hands of those who want to erase free will of a planet? Bad. Myriad in the hands of the same person who now wants to protect Kara and her loved ones from a threat that will never stop? Good. Lena remembers that the world won’t be safe as long as he’s in it. She’s killed him once, and his resurrection must have played into her abuse survivor mindset that she deserved to suffer with her abusive family rather than escape. It’s one of the few explanations as to why Lena worked with Lex after COIE. Survivors often sabotage genuine love because they assume there is a catch and would rather be in control and end it pre-emptively than be screwed over again. If only any of these issues were discussed in this show, where the protagonist is a trauma survivor. It was right for her to do this to her family, unlike J’onn’s ableist treatment of his brother.
It was a long hiatus (5x19 broadcast 19 May 2020, and Rebirth 30 March 2021). The show had surplus existing footage along with new footage to form an episode out of. The dialogue is cringe in places (“Dreamer, what did you dream?”). They still chose to focus on the white man in terms of screentime and agency. I didn’t need to see Lex do a victory dance in the Fortress of Solitude (He Did It His Way, The Sequel), and the scenes with Lillian could have been shorter. Lillian is a mystery as neither of her children know Earth Prime Lillian, and neither do the audience. We don’t know how Lionel died, why she’s happy to go along with Lex’s plan to build technology that augments life force energy when whatever their business does is reputable, blowing up the DEO and claiming on the insurance, why she’s so protective of Lena and if she loves her.
Earth Prime is one of the bigger elephants in the room. Supposedly it’s a global threat, and the superhero call buttons are used (suggestive fingers by Lena) and added to in The Tower with Alex becoming Sentinel (as shoehorned in by father figure J’onn). Yet, none of the other heroes on Earth Prime are called for a threat that will kill half the population. The Earth Prime memories should have been mentioned by J’onn when he’s talking about fully revealing himself to M’Gann as she’s got a different universe of memories to his Earth-38, and he erased his brother from Martian existence because of ableism. Alex has three sets of memories (Prime, 38, and forgetting Kara is Supergirl) and somehow her human brain isn’t mush and she always remembers things correctly rather than confusing memory lines.
I wish I could forget the CGI. There’s no budget for it, or promoting the show apparently. They announced the show was returning 25 days ago to fill a gap in Superman broadcasting, and only released a trailer a week ago. Yet, thanks to the power of fandom (and Azie Tesfai carrying the show for 10 months, with Nicole Maines doing a 7 day original fanart countdown in the final stretch) the show had a 112,000 live audience increase over its 600,000 season 5 finale.
I wish M’Gann had always stayed, but the show has a habit of only contracting women for a season while they contract men for two and give the latter problematic behaviours that they frame as good. William Dey is still creepily asking after Kara, when she hasn’t given him a second thought since Lena came back into her life. The guy has been shot and has his arm in a sling, and Kara doesn’t care one iota when he’s mentioned. His idea of exposing Lex in a rehash of Kara’s prize winning article in season 4 is shot down by Alex (men taking over women’s achievements). He also lies about Kara working with him to expose Lex, as it was Kelly who was helping him. The character of William is revealed to be useless and surplus.
Kelly gets to show her mental therapist skills, building up Andrea Rojas when CatCo and Obsidian North will go bankrupt thanks to Lex hijacking her platform. She’s upset that her father thinks she’s worthless, so after the pep talk she shadows up and pays his bank account a visit to put things right. Blood family is the worst, according to Lena and Andrea (and Brainy’s lineage, Dreamer’s sister, Alex’s Dad, Kara’s Uncle, the absent Olsen parents). Found family rules. The show managed to squeeze a Danvers sisters moment in, and it could have been the last thing Kara ever saw of her sister (part of me wonders if we’ll see this shirt thievery in the upcoming Midvale flashback episodes).
Dreamer gets to show off her skills, hinted at in the 100th AU. She can phase through walls, manipulate interface panels, interpret her dreams accurately, do dream energy web to snare people. But as with Kara, Dreamer is what she can do. Nia is who she is. Nia is someone who loves Brainy romantically, and welcomes him back now he’s realised working with Lex was a mistake. Their storyline of a strained romantic relationship is the closest parallel to Supercorp, which is currently an unacknowledged qpr and should be romantic. Neither Nia nor Lena can sit idly by while their loves are killed by Lex. Honest conversations and pinky promises ensue. Nia even gets to fly, thanks to Brainy handing over his Legion ring in the hope it will do some good in the hands of those he loves.
Lena is launched into whirlwind bonding as a fully-fledged Superfriend (Kelly is next, and hopefully the last). After a whole season of stagnation, the unrestricted access to The Tower, Fortress and technology is intense. Kara tells Alex that they have a way to go before they are healed, and yet to Lena she is open and trusting, and Lena is giving. Kara instantly trusts Lena with the Myriad technology, with the words, “I know what’s in your heart” and “You’re the only person in the galaxy I know would do right by it.” The only other time Kara’s mentioned galaxy review was Eliza’s pecan pie, so it’s high praise.
Lena bonds with Brainy over being betrayed by Lex. She self-deprecates hardest in the responsibility game, and her comment about Luthor hubris reminds me of season 3 and her saying the only thing stopping her from becoming like her brother and mother was friends and that’s what she lost in season 5. I suspect she and Brainy will be overly keen to help in season 6 as atonement for helping Lex. Lena’s got the tactile side covered, as she hugged Andrea to stop her from pursuing the shadow path previously to protect Kara. This time, she hugs Alex, and a lot of the framing of Kara’s ‘important people’ are of Alex and Lena (sister and qpr). Alex tried to kill Lena last season for using Myriad, so we’re missing information. Lena says Alex must tell Kelly that Kara is Supergirl as Alex will need her ‘person’ to get her through this. The unspoken meaning is Lena didn’t have her person, aka Kara. Quite why they say ‘person’ as if they are allergic to saying partner, which is a pretty neutral term and implies equality…
If you thought Lena’s slight keystrokes yielded amazing results in turning the Fortress against Kara for the betrayal, her deft fingers work magic. Kara’s ready to die to save her friends and the world, again (let’s face it, she outlived everyone she loved in the 100th AU so dying is easy), but Lena isn’t ready to lose her. So she creates portable sunshine to revive her, and then lands on her heart to protect her from Kryptonite. When Melissa Benoist directed, she had Lena walk into a shaft of light. Lena is Kara’s light, who gives her life and strength. Lena is also who Kara keeps mentioning, even if it’s the last thing she’s going to do. Her dying words to Lex were of Lena. Lena, seemingly fed up of waiting for Kara to put her name in Kryptonese, does it herself with her Lena Luthor Protocol Engaging (the word ‘engaging’ is used rather than online or activating, and is it wrong I want Kara to sing You Are My Sunshine to Lena at their wedding?).
We’ve progressed from “Take the grass!” when it comes to Kara dying and getting sunshine CPR. We know Kara will be absent for more than a scene to accommodate Benoist’s maternity leave. There’s an identifiable reason to separate Kara from the rest of the characters this time and for reduced screen time in the first few episodes. I’m hoping the writers will let Kara address her worst trauma, of returning to The Phantom Zone. So casually mentioned to Lena as a gallows humour, but the continuity is wrong. Kara spent 24 years there, not under a decade. I trust the actresses care, even if the writers don’t. You can only represent what you believe in.

I love how they really keep having logic fail them across the board:
Soooo....writer Jughead opted to write in somebody saving THEM....but not his own hearing or just the bomb not happening at all----Or Slizzy turning down Douchie and declaring her love for Jughead. Oh and he wrote himself with Tabitha at the end of the Vale, as well...
Umm....we haven’t been shown people “can cross through”....nor will it happen. Do events bleed thru? Oh yeah, but still differently and very much NOT supernaturally...
Tumblr media
Ummm...you misspelled “dumb” as “fun”, there, Eddie...and I see you’re admitting this is all your veryyyyyyy stupid fanfic, as conceived by the GG?
If what you meant is shit’s bleeding thru, sure. It starts and stops there, tho. Also, you’ve essentially admitting everything y’all have come up with is fanwanking then? Got it.
Oh sweet jeebus, again with the mine? Noooo....
No, the Vale didn’t exist until 5x19. That’s made incredibly and abundantly clear.
Because it’s the 100th episode, you fucking idiot----and it’s meant to be wacky and fun, as a love letter to the fans....
Because the script said so.
Tumblr media
It’s meant as a sort of anthology series and this was to reset for this ep.....obviously. Also, in each case? They’re back from the ded, DUH...
It’s the show being Meta/Cple playing Rod Serling.....did you even watch?
No, it’s because, if you’re arguing he does write this----he wants himself with Tabitha. It IS the correct path forward, imagine that!
There’s nothing to fix, there’s no timeline to realign....it’s canon and you need to suck it.
Tumblr media
Oh sweet jeebus. This is as dumb as when y’all thought maybe he was the GK. Or Skeletrucker. Or TBK....
Yeah, essentially you’re all idiots. And no, that is NOT what happens

5x17/99 problems sure was a julie siege episode! great with cas, absolutely atrocious with women. also this episode alone produced some of the absolute best moments in sam-cas hostility
i can't read the dean/lisa stuff at the end as anything other than dean's frantic attempt at closeting himself. "ohhh when i see myself happy it's with you" YOU BARELY KNOW HER?
5x18/point of no return was....there's really nothing that adequately describes it lmfao they really went all out for the 100th episode huh? couldn't put too much of actual substance in the first half of the season because then you wouldn't be able to put 13 plot twists in your milestone ep.
we had real adam who was way pricklier than ghoul adam, we had corporate climber zachariah, dean being a prick until someone once again beat the breaks off him (another cas-ruby parallel <3), cas and the fucking boxcutter sigil goddamn
the deancas bait in this episode was. deranged. were they fucking? did they fuck and then breakup because dean said he wanted to play happy families with lisa? just what exactly is going on here???
i have nothing to say about 5x19/hammer of the gods except that dabb+loflin are my mortal fucking enemies for writing it and that rekha sharma is too good for this trash show :)
