so i recently went on lyrica for my pain and stuff and it has been amazing, like sure i'm still in pain but it's been greatly reduced and it kinda feels like i've relaxed after being tense for so long without realizing, but turns out the lyrica can also help with like heart function
and guys
my heart rate went as low as 70bpm, i don't think i've ever seen it that low when not on medication that specifically lowers heart rate, granted it's only low when very reclined and goes back up when i stand or sit up straight, but considering that my heart rate is in the 100s even when sleeping the fact that this pain medication is getting it in the 70s at all is miraculous.
#chronic illness#postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome#pots#disabled#disability#chronically ill#i also haven't noticed any side effects#it's amazing#the only downside is that it is addictive so if i ever need to go off of it i might have some trouble#like withdrawal and all that#also i know for regular people 70bpm is like the average resting heart rate#but i am not normal#and my resting heart rate when not on medication is ~105bpm#and my heart rate regularly goes into the 170s just from standing up#that's pots for you

I Have Dysautonomia POTS
So I'm just giving context here because I feel at a loss. My family while they support me the best that they can I feel like they don't understand so much and I really want to tell my story incase anyone is going through something similar and need someone to talk to or vent about this stuff. Its a long post but I hope you take the time to read it.
So back in 2024 sometime in March I had a pretty bad health scare.
I had gotten up to lock the screen door when my mum was leaving the house, but as locked the screen door I noticed I couldn't really flick the lock mechanism. But that wasn't all— I turned around with my phone in hand when I took three steps into the living room near the entrance when my vision when dark and my body went in full body shakes. I was disorientated that I ended up hearing my phone fall to the floor with a loud thud on the floorboards. I stood frozen. When my vision came back I picked up my phone, sat on the couch, and cried while sent my boyfriend a voice mail on snapchat.
While I am no stranger of my vision getting dark and I have to brace on a wall or my fridge, it always went away quickly. But this episode felt like five minutes. I couldn't tell you how long it was really but it left me shaken to my core, that I was too scared to get up from the couch.
I wouldn't get a diagnosis until sometime in April of 2025 by a specialist clinic that specializes in POTS.
My whole life I've suffered from Fatigue, joint paint, brain fog, muscle pain, migraines, popping joints, issues with regulating my body head, pooling in my hands and feet (which was hard to clock since I have Olive tan skin so they don't look purple just like a really dark tan). Not only that is was always hard for me to shake off common colds and my body would react in hives and rashes from small things that I couldn't pinpoint if they were an allergic reaction to something. I had history of Iron and Vitamin D deficiencies. Not only that I had always had an elevated heart rate when seated since I was 13 at 95BPM and in 2024 my heart rate was resting at 105BPM.
In late 2024 to early 2025 I went to countless doctor appointments. I did an overall blood test where they saw my Iron, Vitamin D and B12 were extremely low, my B12 was 29. So for weeks I was treated with B12 injections and regular blood tests to see my levels. However, one day my blood test found out my Iron levels was <9 to the point my doctor at the time urgently called me to get an iron infusion. The the doctor left the clinic I was going to that was 35 minutes away from me, and she moved almost a 2 hour drive now. So I had to start looking for another doctor. By this point I wasn't feeling any better. I had started my first semester of my Bachelor of creative writing (a course I was so happy to be accepted into...) By the end of the the first semester I had to make the make the most heartbreaking decisions to withdraw form the course. I was starting to have really bad dizzy spells and I was gasping for air from just the smallest amount of paces. By this point I bought an apple watch where I noticed my heart rate was reaching 160 - 170BPM.
Truly was a heart breaking thing. My mental health—although poor beforehand was manageable but since I had to make the decision to withdrawn it started to plummet. This was my dream course and now I couldn't do it anymore because they didn't have Online options, and the campus itself wasn't safe, there was so many stairs and the class was spread around the campus and the elevators were always Out of Order.
Truthfully this was such a difficult thing. I was crying everyday not only because I felt horrible, but because I know had to grieve, frankly I'm still grieving my old life. Sure in high school I was mostly in the sick room in pain from light sensitive migraines (where when my mum had to pick me up and I had to cover my face with my school jacket and or senior hoodie and keep it covered in the car), or Id be sleeping outside in the sun or in class or in free study because I was exhausted or in so much pain from my joints and or headaches. I spent a lot of time at doctors in high school for my joint pains and my migraines. but I could still at least do things, I could still go out with friends, I could help my mum with chores, play with my late Dog, even go to gym and I had the energy to do Volleyball too.
But now I can barely get up in the morning.
As of May 2025 on my birthday, my specialist Doctor after weeks of testing that with out a doubt that I had POTS finally put me on medication. I've Upped my water intake (which was already fine because I've always been good with drinking water even if it felt like it always went through me so quickly) I've been taking Salt Tablets and drinking Electrolytes too. It's only been almost 2 months now and I need to keep reminding myself it will take time for my body to feel the difference with the medication. It's adjusting.
My Next post will be about something that has been bothering me in my Family support. Which will be hard to talk about but I feel like I cant say anything to Family without them getting upset. so hopefully There might be people here who might be able to understands or might be going through something similar.

Question for my internet friends with orthostatic intolerance (especially POTS) I got a blood pulse oximeter to see if I had heart rate changes when sitting and standing and I’ve only had it for a day but I get dizzy sometimes after sitting or standing too long and I think I have ME/CFS which can cause OI.
Anyway what I’m wondering is if it’s normal for your heart rate to spike a lot after standing but then return to somewhat normal. Like if I have a resting heart rate of 82bpm that jumps to like 119bpm (sometimes higher) when standing up but goes back to like 96-105bpm by the time I’ve been standing for a minute is that normal because it goes back down or still really unusual. I’ve also never passed out but I get dizzy and lightheaded when I originally stand up and sometimes while walking or sitting.
I’m fully aware you all aren’t medical experts and I’m not taking this as medical advice, just trying to figure out whether I should be worried enough to research/ask a doctor.
If this isn’t normal should I be looking into POTS as well as ME/CFS?

Liked on YouTube: Did William Goodge Fake It with this IMPOSSIBLE Heart Rate?
Did William Goodge Fake It with this IMPOSSIBLE Heart Rate? British ultra runner William Goodge has just completed a record-breaking run across Australia — over 100km per day for 35 days straight. But while the achievement is undeniably massive, not everyone is convinced it’s legit. In this video, I take a deep dive into the data — including that incredibly low 105bpm average heart rate — and the…

Guitar Practice 27/09/24
I started the session looking at the two pieces in A. A major problem is legato at higher speeds and getting the triplet rhythm sounding smooth. I didn't progress the tempo becuase I feel I need to sort these issues out first and I will do that next time.
I got quicky bored when learning the major pentatonic scales again, I will search for a piece using the major pentatonic scale. If I can't I'll pick one of the formations and try and solo over some chords. I will do this next time because I have a lot of other instruments I need to practice today.
I then practiced Put It Away at 105bpm again and I managed to get hte main riff a little tighter which is good. My thumb still ached very much.

My pulse was 105bpm at MY doctor's appointment. SOOOOO BAD. 😂
I have never been so angry that my fear of certain doctors goes away but by god my boyfriend's dental clinic just managed it. My appointment is in less than an hour and I am shockingly unconcerned.
Can't say I recommend this, but it's definitely effective.
