The U.S. expects Israel to request more munitions from Washington imminently, though the U.S. cannot easily meet all those requests, a congressional official said.
Israel launched advanced U.S.-produced GBU-39 Small Diameter Bombs over the weekend and is expected to seek more from the U.S., the official said. The U.S. also anticipates Israel will request small arms, ammunition, 122mm tank rounds and mortars, the official said.
Providing Israel with enough Tamir interceptors for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system “is the most worrisome,” the official said.
The soldiers of the 31st Separate Mechanized Brigade fire the D-30 122mm trailed howitzer, near the village of Novooleksandrivka, several kilometers from Russian positions, in Donetsk Oblast, on July 6, 2024.
This is a prototype of the Soviet IS-4 Tank, which used the 100mm S-34 gun, as opposed to the D-25T 122mm gun that would adorn the final model. This tank is mostly notable for being built too late, being too heavy, and today, only a few survive, in the Kubinka tank museum, and used as pillboxes along remote sections of the Chinese border.

This was taken at the equivalent focal length of 122mm. In this coastal area, a wide to telephoto zoom lens had been a very handy tool for what I shot; one moment, it might’ve been a landscape, the next it could be a shot like this and another might’ve been a portrait, or a street scene or any others.
As Ukraine is running low on Soviet-era 122mm HE artillery projectiles, it’s now receiving it from one of the few friendly places where it’s still produced- Pakistan.
The munition made by POF is transported to Ukraine by the British RAF via Romania.

Da Nang Air Base (Vietnamese: Căn cứ không quân Đà Nẵng) was a French Air Force and later Republic of Vietnam Air Force (RVNAF) facility located in the city of Da Nang, Vietnam. During the Vietnam War it was a major base with US Army, Air Force and Marine Corps units stationed there.
Da Nang was only about 130 miles from the DMZ. However, in Vietnam there was really no "front", the war was everywhere. Above you can see revetments that somewhat protected these F-4 Phantoms from mortar and rocket attacks.
There were also aircraft shelters...
...where maintenance and arming of aircraft before a mission could be done in relative safety.
However, on 15 July 1967 there was an attack by the PAVN and Vietcong using mortars and 122MM rockets...
... where numerous aircraft, including 8 F-4 Phantoms, were destroyed. 8 Americans were killed in the attack with another 175 wounded. That was only one of several attacks that Da Nang Air Base endured over the years.

That's about all the time I have for this week. I didn't get through all the things I wanted to talk about, so we'll continue with USAF Phantoms in Vietnam next week.
