12 days of Mystrade and Friends - Third Edition

Greetings!

November is drawing to a close, and for many of us, the winter season is about to begin. We are about ready to snuggle under blankets with hot chocolate or tea and, of course, a nice story!

We’d like you to join us in celebrating this season by sharing your creations! Consider joining the third edition of:

12 Days of Mystrade (and Friends) Advent Calendar

December 21, 2023 - January 1, 2024

We’re looking for new fanfic and art about Mystrade, Johnlock, or any other pairing within the Sherlock universe! Please note that general fics and art are also welcome! Your contribution can be a story, picture, video, collage – we are open to all kinds of art, as long as there’s some kind of winter or holiday theme. Go where your muse takes you – be it something fluffy, funny, or angsty! We also accept WIP, and there is no minimum or maximum word count or rating requirement.

Submissions are open until December 6th. Once they’re in, we’ll get back to you with a particular day for you to post your work on Archive of Our Own (AO3). 

To sign up, fill out this Google form with:

your AO3 handle

the main pairing (if there is any)

how to contact you (for the date assignment)

a summary & the title of your work (if you have them - this is only to organize the calendar order - a general idea is also fine)

any dates you prefer and/or need to avoid.

If you’d like to submit more than one work, that’s great! Please submit a separate form for each piece. 

Please submit by the end of the day on the 6th of December. You will be assigned a posting day by December 15th; the calendar will run between the 21st of December and the 1st of January.

If you have any questions, send an email or an ask, and we’ll answer as soon as possible! (Sadly we cannot answer a DM on Tumblr since this blog is run by multiple users - please send an ask or email to 12daysofmystrade@gmail.com instead!)

I’ll Be Home For Christmas is officially compete!

It’s been another successful holiday collection. There are a total of 28 fics in the collection, including 4 multi-chapter fics and 1 photo story featuring L’il Mystrade.

1. why did you choose your url? It’s my name. Thought it would be a good idea to make sure no one else had it. Didn’t realize something more in keeping with the topic might have been a better idea. 

2. sideblogs? The same as Sky, as we did the writing event “12 Days of Mystrade” @12daysofmystrade (with @aleclestrade who has been absent since February and I miss her).

I created the @markgatissappreciationsociety for obvious reasons. Well, they’re obvious to me, anyway. 

And I have @doctorwhowatch for keeping track of my chronological rewatch of the world’s longest-running science fiction show.  3. how long have you been on tumblr? Since October 2019, which is when I fell heavily into fandom for escapism reasons. 

4. do you have a queue tag? No 5. why did you start your blog? Life sucked and I thought “screw it, I’m going to pay attention to what I like”. More seriously, I watched Good Omens and loved it and started reading fanfic. Turns out that a lot of the GO authors used to write for Sherlock, which I started reading (going backwards instead of forwards, and remembering how much I loved the stories when I was younger), and then I found Mystrade and I was lost. Or found, depending on your perspective.  6. why did you choose your icon? Mycroft Holmes is my inspiration.  7. why did you choose your header? Burgundy pinstripes seemed apropos for Mycroft.  8. post with most notes? I don’t know how to find that? I feel good if some GIFs or ideas I post crack triple digits.  9. how many mutuals do you have? I don’t know how to find that either. A good number. I greatly value having found people here with similar interests to chat with.  10. how many followers do you have? Just passed 700! I try not to pay attention. I know there are people with fewer and people with a lot more.  11. how many people do you follow? If I’d know it was a quiz, I’d have asked for the “how do you tumblr?” guide first. 😊 81, apparently. Enough to keep up with everything, once you add in a couple of tags, which allow me to find new people.  12. ever made a shitpost? No. I had enough with trolling way back in the Usenet days. Life’s too short to try and cause trouble.

13. how often do you use Tumblr each day? An hour or so? I read over what’s happened since I was last on, then post some things, depending on what the next MGAS event is or what I’ve watched recently. That’s the ideal. Some weeks I skip days and then I have to set aside some time to catch up, as I am just a tad obsessive.  14. did you ever have a fight/argument with another blog? Here? No.  15. how do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts? I ignore them. I don’t take well to being told what to do in that way, and as they are most often important, serious subjects, I don’t want to sully them by associating with my silliness here.  16. do you like tag games? Yes. 17. do you like ask games? Yes.  18. which of your tumblr friends/mutuals do you think is famous? Oh, fame. Well. Some of them are published authors, which is way cool. Other than that... maybe I’ll mention here, as a distraction, that at one point I had Neil Gaiman’s phone number, but that was several lives and countries and decades ago.  19. do you have a crush on a mutual?

... yes.

1. why did you choose your url? I was listening to “Torn” by Natalie Imbruglia and thought ‘Sky-is-Torn’ sounded cool & angsty. (I’ll let you be the judge of that xd)

I was amazed to realize ppl make different blogs for their different interests (??) my blog is just a collection of nice, shiny posts that I’ve picked up like a kid collecting cool rocks I do have a sideblog I made with two friends to organize the writing event “12 days of Mystrade” called, you guessed it,@12daysofmystrade 3. how long have you been on tumblr? Since 2016, I think? My first post is from 2016, in any case (if you know which one it is, you’ve spent too much time on here ^^) I then completely forgot that I even had a Tumblr & only came back years later so I’m not sure it counts xd

I was reading a (Destiel) fic and the author linked their Tumblr so I went over to see it and fell down the rabbit hole ^’^ 6. why did you choose your icon? It’s a pic of Rupert Graves; I like the black&white effect and the flower he has in his hand 7. why did you choose your header? It’s a picture I took for the 10 years of Sherlock. I was quite proud of how it looked! 8. post with most notes? It might be the Drarry microfic I wrote for the prompt ‘Forbidden’ 9. how many mutuals do you have? No idea! Not that many, I think!
