18 I stopped doing this because I was just so tired at the end of every day. And I really was having a hard time being still for 5 minutes straight. I can't really speak to why I cry so often. There isn't any sort of relief after I cry, just a pounding headache and exhausted mind. I can't make choices for other people. So I'm mad at them for being selfish, for allowing toxic environments to become the normal for their family. My norm is toxic. A direct result is I fucking hate myself. I can't look at me without seeing disappointment, I'm so helpless I fume with mindless anger. I'm angry because I know they can be better. They are capable of thinking of other people, but they just don't want to. God I was curated in a home of so much hate. So many lies. Every action weighted with ulterior manipulation. I'm not any better, my "boundaries," have become isolation. I removed myself so I have no place, just a voice in the background. But how was I to stay? How much longer should I have taken the constant berate of my life style. I wasn't doing anyone harm. My choices only affect me? Why was there an attack every moment I spoke? The wedge is wide, I'm also to blame I have chosen silence instead of arguments. Apathy to the cycle of secrets. When the boundaries became walls, this is when we lost our understanding.

hi there, your animations are really incredible!! i animate sometimes, and i noticed that some of your animations use a blend of frame rates in a single animation. if its not too much to ask, do you have any thoughts on how to pull that off successfully? otherwise, resources you could point to for those looking to learn. thanks!
Hi, thanks so much! ❤ I hope I understand well, I'd assume you mean how I vary the frame lengths (ah, do correct me if I'm wrong!! in that case my upcoming wall of text will be embarrassing haha) I'm very passionate about experimenting with that, some people pull it off so well and makes super crunchy yet smooth stuff, I love it! I'm just trying though. What helps me is to watch stuff carefully that I like, or even go frame by frame, I did that with Ernest and Celestine scenes for example. But overall French animations and good quality anime stuff is where I'd look for examples, at least those are my preferences haha. I'm sure there are books, classes too, but I'm not sure which ones work with this question in depth, sorry! Apart from that I think the real fun is in experimenting, because you might just find something you weren't even looking for. I remember how at the beginning of uni it felt to realize that you don't have to work just in 12frames/sec, I felt like a rebel haha... though it's probably obvious for a lot of students, but I was just really clueless and it felt kind of a taboo, which makes no sense as it's awesome haha! Yeah sorry for the extra ramble and that I can't say anything useful really... I think it's super cool that you think about the technical side, I love it too, but I think it's important to not stress too much to follow rules, have fun with it! ❤

I know this is an old issue, but I love that the hyperrealistic CGI lion movie is supposedly "live action" until it makes more money than frozen.
It made so much because it wasn't treated like an animated movie (and nostalgia, but a lot of movies do that). As a lifelong fan of animation, it really bothers me that the only reason people are celebrating this movie for what it is, is because some people who thought this copy would somehow be more mature due to a difference in media (and some that didn't care) spending boatloads of money to see it.
The sad part is that despite some of it looking awkward and clunky, some of the animation is gorgeous. a technical and artistic wonder. But those animators who spent months perfecting them are only being appreciated (well as appreciated as animators working under massive studios can be by the mainstream public) because Disney wanted to gloat about even more of their billions.
I think when you boil it down, people are comparing Lion King 2019 and Spiderverse because of the way the two use animation in highly contrasted ways. Simply put, Spiderverse embraces it's medium, whereas Lion King does not.
Despite the amazing work put into it, Lion King wanted to pass as a live action film, which leads to a lot more dull backgrounds, that odd realistic animal lip syncs like a human to talk thing that has always looked a little awkward to me, and scenes where the characters are too "realistic" to emote strongly enough for what they're going through. You compare the Mufasa death scenes in both films (both clips should be on YouTube at this point) and you tell me which Simba looks more distraught about the death.
Switching gears to Spiderverse, whether you love it or find it overrated, you can't deny that this is a film that revels in the fact that it is an animated film. With unique character designs, a wide variety of color schemes and backgrounds, and the most seamless mix of live action and CGI I've seen in my life, you can tell how much passion went into making this film look flawless in motion. I have to say the most amazing part is how they animated Miles at 12frames per second at the beginning only to gradually get him up to 24fps by the end of the movie to show how behind the other spiders he is, as well as how he slowly comes into his own, using the more technical aspects of the animation process to further display his struggle.
Despite my personal opinion that Spiderverse got the acclaim and recognition it deserved, I can understand the frustration that a film that embraces and loves animation was less well received by audiences than a film that denies it's own frames and graphics at every turn. So much so that the latter is currently the highest grossing animated film of all time.
Let me repeat: the highest grossing animated film is one that, by design, rejects it's own animation.
Let's compare to the top 15 highest grossing animated films of all time
Despite my opinions on the films listed, all of these films were marketed as animated films before they were released, as well as embracing the strengths of animation. The only exception on that list being Lion King 2019. I hope Frozen 2 makes enough money to top Lion King, it's always annoying to watch Disney financially top itself over and over, but I want animation to be financially represented by a film that enjoys being animated.

smart - Electric Drive - Director's Cut

BBDO invited ARRI Creative Solutions to develop and produce a commercial for the world premiere of the new smart electric drive. I was freelance Creative Director/Director on the project and we took it from the initial brief through look development, shading/animation and compositing all the way to the final product. The ad ran on a giant screen at Gare du Nord in Paris, was used in social media and featured at the international trade shows in Paris and Detroit.
