When did you first start watching Lone Star? Who or what introduced you to the show?

It was right about two years ago around this time of year, and the who would be Owen Strand himself, Mr. Rob Lowe. I was on Hulu and bored and saw this go by and thought well I've never met a Rob Lowe something that I didn't like, so what the hey.

I was not expecting to get this into it at ALL- like by the time the title card appeared for the first time I was like what is this show! (literally, I hadn't written anything in about 13 years, and I had no computer at the time, and there I was, scribbling down fic in my notebook like a child of the 80's lol).

Which season is your favorite?

For me it's a horserace between seasons one and four. Season one did so much with those ten episodes (why I have hopes season five can still be amazing with only twelve episodes) and season four for a couple reasons; one, season four fixed sooooooooo many of the mistakes they made in season three, and season four compared to season one is like them living their lives out loud.

Like that sad boy from New York who just wanted a way to bury his pain? He's getting married now!

That cop with zero work-life balance? Also getting married and has friends who adore him!

The trans firefighter worried he'll never date anyone he can be himself with- look at his relationship blooming now!!

It's just the best, season four.

Who is your favorite character? (Bonus: If you answered TK or Carlos, who is your favorite besides them?

Well, first pick would be my Tarlos boys, but I also do love me some Owen Strand. Yes he's flawed but there is so much good in him, and he's an amazing dad and captain when his character doesn't suffer from the show needing him to be the center of everything and the fact they can't land a decent romantic storyline for him (though I do know why that is lol).

If you could pick any character to be given a "begins" episode, who would it be and what would that episode look like?

Carlos, cause I'd like to go just like a year before the show started - like it's been confirmed TK was his first real relationship but did he try to date? Did he ever hook up? Also I feel that because he is a good son that he wouldn't cut off his parents completely, but wouldn't see them until they asked, what was that like? Did he want to tell his mom about his life and feel like he couldn't? (note; this might be the most depressing begins episode ever - TK really burst in like the Kool-Aid man and color this boy's whole world).

Also Nancy, just because we don't get anything about her hardly - did she go to college? How long has she been with EMS? Did she have another captain before Michelle? All could use answers.

What is a scenario or storyline that you would like to see in season five?

TARLOS DOMESTIC MORNING SCENE PLEASE AND THANK YOU -

I want Carlos to be up early and trying to wake TK up gently. After TK says just a few more minutes four times, Carlos uses stern voice and tells him it's time to get up. TK still is hiding under the covers so Carlos puts those long fingers to use and tickles his husband right out of the bed.

Beyond that - for TK and Owen to have scenes together like they did in season four; for Owen's rich girlfriend to not be a thing anymore, for Robert's death not to cause any bad feelings between Strands, and for TK and Carlos to be on a team against their problem, not on opposite sides against each other.

Also Carlos picks TK up; in any context. I would love a Carlos puts his husband on his shoulder and carries him out of somewhere while he's protesting but would also accept in a romantic setting he picks TK up, or he picks a very sleepy TK up who wraps his legs around his husband and lays his head on his shoulder.

The still of a concerned Carlos on the phone and a despondent-looking TK behind him- what do you think is going on there?

I think a mean person told TK that Catan is stupid and TK got very upset about it and Carlos's phone call consists of "you made my baby sad? You picked a good day to die, son".

Juuuuuust kidding lol - no I think that Carlos has to do something dangerous (perhaps related to his father's murder, perhaps not) but it's known to be dangerous and TK is scared for him and begging isn't there anyone else? And Carlos gets the call confirming there's no one else; it needs to be Carlos.

We all know about the elusive spicy 5x05 scene that has been teased, so what is your prediction for how it could possibly top 1x02?

That is tough because they're still on network TV - I would say one or both of them are wet - possibly it is raining and they're at the famous Reyes ranch and Carlos takes TK in the barn.

Where was the Tarlos honeymoon in your mind?

(I may be stealing this) but I could see them going somewhere in Mexico - pretty but also not terribly far away, because of what happened but also because TK is very nervous about leaving their lizard child and is constantly texting his dad like what is Lou doing why haven't you sent me videos of him!!"

If everything affects everything, then we are to be held responsible for our actions big and small, no matter what the outcome… No matter if it kills someone, or leaves them with with a red slap mark on their face, or a longing for your touch. I think there are some very interesting points raised here, and I definitely think Carl Franklin was the man for the job. There’s no reason for me to go on about the director selection, as I’ve been focusing on it for quite some time, especially after Alvarez had his little breakdown on twitter. I’m here to watch a television show about extremely sensitive subjects, critique it, enjoy what I can, and see how each player in the game can relay that ‘for every action there’s a reaction’… Not everyone is suited to make these points, but since Araki and Franklin have taken over, I’ve found myself really enjoying '13 Reasons Why’. Oh, and I’m extremely excited to see what Oscar Winner Jessica Yu has store in for us. I think she can work magic with this writing team, who before E7 went largely misunderstood. If a director has a problem with me saying that, then i welcome their discussion. I’ve watched some of these episodes carefully, sometime twice, and I’m well versed in breaking down television from top to bottom. You see many of us have different views on suicide. Some of us are educated in psychology, sociology, behavioral sciences, etc… Some of us have lived these things first hand, and some of us both… Some of us are born with intuition, an empathy radar that was honed and perfected by our peers, our environment, and individual experiences. What I’ve noticed the most is that no matter what opinions we are sharing, or what we don’t agree with, we all have a deep respect for each other’s perspectives… Even if we don’t agree. That’s a beautiful thing, and as much as 2016 felt like we fell back a bit and let ourselves become separated, the conversations Im having with people about these topics feel like in 2017 we are moving forward stronger and more hand in hand than ever before. We have to.

I have a specific story that relates to the topic at hand… But I’m going to continue to hold the big one back… People might get angry for me sharing it, but I don’t fucking care. I write for me, and I write for anyone out there who connects with what I’m saying, who understands my perspective and somehow that makes it easier on them, somehow knowing that they aren’t alone… I write under a nom de plume, but I write real life experiences and tie them into storylines, and my aim is to tell my stories through the worlds obsession and love with media, not to hurt anyone. Cuz guess what? There have been some serious mistakes I’ve made in my life and they have caused others pain, and there have been things other people have done and they have caused me pain. This is the way of the world people. The best thing we can do is open up and talk about it, stop history from repeating itself. Try to understand what makes each other tick.

I think Carl Franklin and the writers did a great job with this one, showing us that you never know what decision you are going to make today out of fear, or not giving a fuck, or whatever it may be, and what effect that decision might have… It all feels less melodramatic, unlike the series low (Tape 3, yes YOU, Alvarez. Hopefully you can redeem it E13, and if you do I will say that you did)… Its starting to pick up an electric current and instead of placing blame everywhere and on everyone, we’re seeing that as a society we just need to be more self conscious. Easier said than done right? For sure.

Jessica is unraveling fast… First it was Justin, now it’s Jessica who realizes the more she isn’t numbing herself, the more the people she has surrounded herself with are people that would rape her while she sleeps and lie to her about it… Because (and I’m not quoting, but I swear this is exactly the quote that Justin’s brain has prepared), 'Its just easier for everyone’. We can crucify Justin all we want (and humans love to point the fn’ finger right? Assign blame, and then we call move on). Truth is, Bryce is the big bad dog and Jessica was the price to stay in his yard. All the Jessica’s I know are survivors, so Bryce better watch himself. See all these glocks? Aren’t they absolutely beautiful?!

I would love if Porsche was just playing pretend with vegas at the end like his only alive in order to use him because despite everything vegas has done he can be a tool for info and that if he tries anything Porsche will exploit his weaknesses. Also, even if Porsche doesn't know the truth now they could still give it in s2 some how. Like Porsche is a mafia boss now he needs that character development. We KNOW he has it in him since ep.1 we just need that but stronger. I need justice for him.

The thing about Porsche is that there was a time where I genuinely believed he was playing the long con when it came to Vegas, but then he disappointed me and made me a liar by not doing that. It's just weird because it would have made him a more capable and complex character had they revealed that Porsche can be just as underhanded and shady as the rest of them. Alas, that never happened.

I remember back when episode 7 aired and everyone believed that Porsche was only pretending to be drunk just to manipulate Vegas into showing his cards. Remember that? Ahh, those were the days back when we all believed that Porsche had the guts and glory. Granted, I still believed he was pretending to be drunk. I just don't know why, because it still lead to Porsche trusting Vegas enough to escape from the main family's compound and run off with him in 1x10. I think that's when the shift really started to happen in this story and in the show, because it appeared as if we were getting a different version of these characters and then they kind of just lost the oomph, the intelligence, the ability to be just as manipulative as their enemies. Specifically Porsche, if I'm being honest. Prior to episode 9, I would have believed you if you had said that Porsche had something up his sleeve and was playing all of them. Post episode 8 though? Not a chance in hell.

The story kind of vacillated back and forth with Porsche's character and that saddens me because I would have LOVED to see a more morally grey version of him. My only concern is the inconsistency of his characterization so it was almost impossible to fully sell that anyway. Both Kinn and Porsche seemed like different characters in the first half of this show; by the last half, they lost their teeth. They were defanged, but they weren't the only ones. The only reason I mention them so heavily in this discussion is because we had so much time with them that you could see the change happen. Everyone else wasn't on screen long enough to pick up on those changes, but Kinn and Porsche were in every single episode so it was fairly easy to pinpoint exactly when that shift in characterization happened.

Episode 13 was just a small piece of what I thought Porsche was going to be, and he just wasn't.
