All those 1960s, hippy-esque terms she never in a million years thought she would have used to describe Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange. Who broke ground in the neurological field so often that he had attended more speaking engagements, honorary dinners, and earned more awards of recognition than any physician she had ever heard of. 

That same Strange had come stumbling down the hallway in those flowing, fustian, deep cerulean robes with their various, pompous tassels and braided belts that encircled his waist. Hell, there were even tassels swinging from the tops of his knee-high, lace-up, medieval-emulating boots.  His outfit was made more unbelievable because it was him wearing it. Of his own volition.

The Doctor Strange she knew wore Armani suits, wore Jaeger-LeCoultre watches, drove a Lamborghini Huracán…  

He had looked like he was ready to stroll into a midsummer Medieval fair. 

Cardiac tamponade aside.  

She finds herself in much the same situation as years prior. She is bent over the nurses station reviewing patient paperwork. Her hand is cramping from all the charts she’s signed off on the latter half of this shift.

“Christine!” His long-deceased, assertive, baritone voice trumpets down the artificial, harshly-lit wing of the ER.

Involuntarily, she gasps. She looks up from her work, sees him, and goes ramrod straight. Her pen goes clattering to the floor and her papers swirl through the air, escaping from the confinement of the clipboard. Her hand flies to her chest to still her racing heart. 

She locks eyes with him as he parades down the hallway. His bright, crystalline blue eyes meet hers and for a handful of tense moments she is convinced that she’s dreaming. It’s not the first time she’s dreamed of him coming back from the dead. 

But, everyone else at the nurses’ station is looking at him too…

Her hands begin trembling and she’s pretty sure the hallway has dropped a couple dozen degrees in the last minute. Goose bumps erupt up her exposed arms in her short-sleeved teal scrubs.

“Christine!” He says again and strides towards her in those ridiculous, lace-up, shin-high boots with their blue tassels. His numerous tassels on his belts swing with every step. His unruly cowlicks dangle limply from his head of dark brown hair and contrast with his pale forehead. The familiar, unchanged patches of gray hair at his temples are groomed back with the rest of his hair. He doesn’t look a day older than when he died in 2018.

There is a deep scarlet line of dried blood caked over his left eyebrow. Another one adorns the edge of his lower lip. Dirt or soot encrusts his cheeks and forehead, suggesting an abrupt impact with the ground. 

His sentient, crimson, billowing cloak rests on his shoulders and undulates through the air from an undetectable breeze. It completes his look of unhurried, relaxed command of the situation. 

But, Christine knows him well enough to recognize the weariness in his gait by the subtle weave of his locomotion. A slight deviation to the right, a mild one to the left. He’s been awake for hours. Maybe longer than she has.

His brows are furrowed, his scrupulous gaze assessing everything. Everything about her, she realizes. His mouth is set in a grim line. He slows as he approached her. “Christine?” A question. 

She knows she is staring. Gawking even. Mouth parted with countless thoughts streaming through her head, but none of them catching purchase long enough to come out of her mouth. All logical thought processes are suspended. Christine is acutely aware of Stephen planting himself a few feet away from her now in all his dramatic regalia and the brightness and whiteness of the hospital taking on a tremulous, bleary appearance before warm wetness on her cheeks informs her that she is crying.  

“Stephen?” Her voice cracks and her throat constricts painfully. She doesn’t remember how she ends up in his arms. But, she does. And his cool, trembling, damaged hands hold her face reverently. The pads of his thumbs gently dash away the tears sliding down her cheeks. She grounds herself by reaching up and grabbing a hold of his arms. His azure, fabric vambraces are rough under her touch.  

This is real. He’s real. He’s alive.

She chuckles humorously, but it comes out as a choking noise through her pinched throat. 

Five years, and now this. Now… 

She takes a deep, hitching breath and calms down enough to take in his precipitously broken expression.  His exquisite eyes now have standing tears that refuse to fall. 

Like the private moments after his teacher died on the table. When he reaches over the faucet of their adjoining sinks to still her hands. When he holds her more affectionately and gently than he had ever done so before. When he tells her she was right about there being other ways to save lives. When she was being paged overhead. When he told her he didn’t want her to go. 

“Christine?” He asks. “Are you alright?”

She can’t trust herself not to cry again. So, she only nods.

He studies her and gently shakes his head. “I knew you would be okay. I looked ahead… I had to know. It was selfish of me — but I had to know.”

She frowns. “What are you talking about?” 

He lowers his hands to her shoulders and gently holds her in place. He breathes out a sigh, as if bracing himself for a terrible confession. “The time stone- it let me —”

“Stark said you were dead,” she can’t help but interrupt; can’t abide his lengthy, enigmatic explanations right now. “He announced on the news that you were— gone. What the hell? My God, Stephen, it’s been five years! What happened—?” She knows people started reappearing hours ago, but she knows he was there. He knows precisely what happened. He always does.

A guilty glance from his eyes tells her he doesn’t want to tell her. “It’s over,” he concludes. “We undid what Thanos did. And—” He swallows, a few tears finally spill over the rim of his lashes. His keen eyes scrutinize her face. “Stark saved us all.” The last word wavers as his expression momentarily crumples. 

Christine is alarmed because this is the most emotional she’s ever seen him. 

“Stephen?” She reaches a hand up to caress his face. He stills and closes his eyes, seeming to relish in the contact. “Are you okay?” She breathes.

He takes a moment before opening his poignant eyes. He nods once. “Yeah,” he says unsteadily with a wistful smile. His bright, moist eyes are hopeful. “It’s all gonna be okay now.”

From what I’ve seen, there are a lot of costumes within the original Star Trek that just... wtf.... don’t make sense at all. I’m sure a lot of it is just because of the pinhead-sized budget and because they were just trying to think futuristically in the 1960s. The ones in TMP were ...... not good ...... but their uniforms in WOK and stuff were great. But this??? This is kinda genius. The whole thing is very practical, perfect for Bones “I’m a country man” McCoy. Pockets especially. If I’m understanding the structure properly tho, the trousers pin to the shirt, thus eliminating the need for a belt or suspenders while still keeping them up and keeping the shirt tucked. The jacket just gets tucked in too, and it’s got tons of pockets. And then of course the coat is just there for extra security. it seems extra, but it’s so perfect. It somehow keeps the outdoorsy vibe of what we think as country/farm getup (overalls, chaps, etc), while also looking like nothing we have today and making it more practical than before. the necktie thing and the colors sell it. Idk, it just perfectly captures the “futuristic country man” vibe, setting it apart from both the country of today and the city of the future. The more I examine it, the more satisfied with it my mind is. It’s E X C E L L E N T, and I wanna know how they designed it. Also it reminds me of Luke Skywalker’s Bespin outfit and by golly I live for that costume. Anyway, this has been overly long and completely unnecessary analysis with ya boi rusty. China energy crunch triggers shutdowns, pleas for more coal (Reuters) China faces mounting pressure to ramp up coal imports and ensure supplies to keep lights on, factories open and water flowing as a severe power crunch roils the northeastern industrial heartland. With electricity shortages sparked by coal shortages crippling large sections of industry, the governor of Jilin province, one of the hardest hit in the world's no.2 economy, called for a surge in coal imports, while a power company association said supply was being expanded "at any cost". News organisations and social media carried reports and posts saying the lack of power in the northeast had shut down traffic lights, residential elevators and 3G mobile phone coverage as well as triggering factory shutdowns. A utility in Jilin even warned power shortages could disrupt water supplies at any time, before apologising for causing alarm. The power crunch has taken hold as a shortage of coal supplies, toughening greenhouse gas emissions standards and strong demand from industry have pushed coal prices to peaks. Goldman Sachs estimated that as much as 44% of China's industrial activity has been hit by power shortages.

American siblings trapped in China under three-year ‘exit ban’ finally return home (Washington Post) China allowed two U.S. citizens, siblings Victor and Cynthia Liu, who were prevented from leaving the country for more than three years, to return to the United States on Sunday. Cynthia and Victor Liu are the daughter and son of Liu Changming, a businessman wanted on fraud charges in China. The siblings went to China in June 2018 to visit relatives but were barred from leaving, while their mother, Sandra Han, who made the trip with them, was detained. Their lawyers and the U.S. authorities described the move as an attempt to pressure Liu Changming into returning to China to faces charges—despite the siblings saying they had not had contact with their father in years. Victor and Cynthia Liu’s lawyer Marc Ginsberg told the New York Times that he believed a Sept. 9 phone call between President Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping had “helped to break a logjam” and contributed to the siblings’ release. He added that the siblings would have no comment for the news media.

Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced Tuesday that virus restrictions will be eased gradually. Taliban issue no-shave order to barbers in Afghan province (AP) The Taliban on Monday banned barbershops in a southern Afghanistan province from shaving or trimming beards, claiming their edict is in line with Shariah, or Islamic, law. The order in Helmand province was issued by the provincial Taliban government’s vice and virtue department to barbers in Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital. During their previous rule of Afghanistan, the Taliban adhered to a harsh interpretation of Islam. Since overrunning Kabul on Aug. 15 and again taking control of the country, the world has been watching to see whether they will re-create their strict governance of the late 1990s. During the Taliban’s previous rule, the conservative Islamists demanded that men grow beards. Since being ousted from power following the U.S.-led invasion in 2001, shaved or cleanly trimmed beards have become popular in the country.

Violence in Nigeria (Foreign Policy) At least 34 people were killed in northern Nigeria following an attack on the village of Madamai in northern Kaduna state, state security commissioner Samuel Aruwan said on Monday, blaming unidentified assailants for the attack. The assault, which Aruwan said took place on Sunday, came the same day that 22 Nigerian security personnel were killed in an attack on an army base in Sokota state, also in the country’s north. In recent weeks, Nigerian states have introduced restrictions on residents in an attempt to stem the violence, attributed to so-called bandits as well as the Islamic State’s West African offshoot.

I picked up the last few morsels onto my spoon trying to save them from the milk at the bottom so they wouldn't go soggy forcing them into my mouth, I wasn't hungry anymore but I wasn't going to waste them. Until my peaceful morning was interrupted by a loud gurgling sound.

I sighed, getting up, fixing my skirt and going to the window seeing my neighbour across the road his garage open the bright red sports car on the drive running while he stood polishing the right front wing.

He stood there as he usually did, Leather boots that likely close as much as that car, that ended half way up his skinny long legs, A belt tight to where I assume his waist was, If he had one. A Black T-Shirt tight to his body, A bright blue Shirt that also seemed very expensive at least to the eye with some hint of a pattern in the glimmery sunlight, The sleeves rolled up to his elbows. I think this is going to be going on all morning again" I told her, giving her a little cuddle.

Once Jane was dressed I got her into her pram and let her have her bottle and her rattle, "Alright? Come on Janie" I smiled grabbing my bag and heading out onto the path locking up the door, I pushed her carefully down the path luckily by now the arguing had stopped as Mr Lucas had to go to work, I checked the road and it was empty so I rushed across going to the other path to head towards town unfortunately having to walk past him and his car, he didn't even look up at me as we went past but as we did Jane threw her rattle at him hitting him in the leg

"Oww what the-" He complained before he saw us "Oh." he said

"I'm so sorry, Bad girl Jane" I told her

"It's fine. Don't worry about it" He sighed picking up the rattle from the floor dusting it off on his shirt "Here you go kiddo" He says handing her it back "You want something?" he asked crossing his arms

"I uh-"

"You gonna tell me to shut my car off too?"

"You did wake my daughter-" I began "It's fine. Don't worry about it, I just guess we hadn't introduced ourselves yet"

On suspenders

A weird little detail I appreciate is that we plainly see Erik in the 1940s scene wearing button suspenders.

I not only appreciate this as a nod to the fact that prior to War World II suspenders were the most typical way for men to keep their trousers in place while post-War World II belts would quickly become ubiquitous. This shift is something we see in scenes in 1960s with basically all the men wearing belts.

(As an unrelated aside the founder of Comcast upon leaving service post-WWII worked at men’s accessory company, but predicting the future was heading towards “beltless pants” (man, do I wish that had actually happened), he left and went into telecommunications. I think about this every time my internet isn’t working, so I think of this often.)

Beyond the “historical accuracy” aspect of it, I also enjoy that it as a visual element that unconsciously informs the audience of Erik’s complete vulnerability in this scene. While boldly colored suspenders can be worn as a striking outer wear article now, in the past suspenders were part of a man’s under layer and generally should not be visible in public. We see in the scene previous Erik wearing a coat, and he likely had some other layer under that that in the interim was taken from him.

Which leaves us with Erik awkwardly standing essentially in his underwear in front of a sitting Schmidt who is dressed in a full suit.

It sets a very striking power differential between the two characters and makes me wonder how deliberate it was that the next time we see Erik and Schmidt/Shaw together on the boat that Erik is once again under dressed in basically a bathing suit while Shaw is once again fully dressed and once again finds himself (easily) beaten by Shaw.

What is a Filter Press and How Does it Work?

A filter press is one of the oldest and most trusted pieces of dewatering equipment. It’s used for wastewater treatment across a variety of industries and applications. A filter press works by separating out solids from liquids, removing impurities, and suspended solids from industrial wastewater. This allows plant managers to easily handle and dispose of waste while returning clean water to their systems.

Filter presses separate liquids and solids. Specifically, the filter press separates the liquids and solids using pressure filtration across a filter media. Afterward, the slurry is pumped into the filter press and then dewaters under pressure.

Basically, the concentrate filter press design is based on the dewatering volume and type of slurry. ChemREADY is an expert in liquid and solid separation and offers a wide range of filter press types and capacities to suit specific application needs for trouble-free, economical dewatering.

The origin of the filter press dates to around the mid-19th century in the United Kingdom, where a rudimentary form of the press was used to obtain vegetable oil from seeds. However, it wasn’t until major developments in the mid-20th century that engineers were able to develop the world’s first automatic horizontal-type filter press.

It’s this long history of advancements that’s allowed the filter presses of today to achieve significantly lower energy and maintenance costs compared to their belt press and centrifuge counterparts. Filter presses are especially useful as the leftover solids are cheaper and easier to move than the entire slurry. With the clean water that filter presses return, plant managers can discharge that to their local municipalities, watersheds or use the water in their own closed-loop systems, creating highly efficient processes.

Without a filter press or similar pieces of dewatering equipment, a settling pond is often the first option for water treatment. Not only do ponds require a large amount of real estate to use, but they also lose their ability to clean water over time as the solids that you remove build up in the pond water. This gives ponds an unfavorable long-term ROI as dirty water will eventually start coming back into your process unless you dredge the pond or make a new pond. During the fill cycle, the slurry pumps into the filter press and distributes evenly during the fill cycle. Solids build up on the filter cloth, forming the filter cake in the void volume of the plate. The filtrate, or clean water, exits the filter plates through the ports and discharges clean water out the side of the plates.

Filter presses are a pressure filtration method. As the filter press feed pump builds pressure, the solids build within the chambers until they are completely full of solids. This forms the cake. The filter cakes release when the plates are full, and the cycle is complete. Also, many higher capacity filter presses use fast action automatic plate shifters which speeding cycle time. While the various styles of filter presses work differently, they all operate under similar principles. Slurries of water mixed with solids are pumped into the press by using a feeding pump. Once inside the press, pressure – often from a centrifugal pump or similar device – pushes the slurry through chambers made of filter plates. This removes impurities from the water as “filter cakes” of solids build up on the machine’s filters.

Once the chambers of a filter press are full, its filtration cycle is complete, and the machine releases the filter cakes. These cakes are easily removed, allowing you to filter your water at high efficiencies. Clarifiers are best described as large settling tanks, preferably used in the initial dewatering phase. Here, water can enter at a much lower solids concentration, typically around 5-10 percent solids. Using gravity and polymers, clarifiers cause solids to build up at the bottom of the tank, where they can be discharged as sludge.

The two main types of clarifiers are the horizontal rake style clarifier and the vertical deep cone clarifier. Vertical deep cone clarifiers use the principle of static decantation for a natural precipitation of solid material, while horizontal rake style clarifiers use a rake mechanism that stirs the sludge through rotation. Determining which type of clarifier is best for you depends on your clarifying needs, driven by maintenance costs, material types and solids requirements. When used in combination with each other, a clarifier and chemical filter press can recover 90-95 percent of your water as clean water. The remaining water will discharge with the solids from the filter press.

The Filter Press is one of the oldest filtration technologies still in use today. It was first developed in the mid 1800’s. Unlike vacuum filters, which operate continually, the Filter Press and many other pressure filters run in batches. After a batch of slurry has run through the filter, and the filtrate drained out, it must shut down, open the filter pack, and discharge the solid cake.

The components of a featured filter press include the frame or skeleton and the filter pack. The filter pack consists of plates, sometimes frames, and filter media.

Stationary Head- The side of the frame without the closure system has a head that aligns with the filter pack. It is also known as the fixed head. It has a feed hole for the slurry to enter and drain hole for filtrate to exit.

Follower Head- The hydraulic ram pushes the follower head, or thrust head against the filter pack. There are no feed or drain holes on this head.

Closure System- A hydraulic ram is used to press the plates together and hold the filter together during operation. It creates a positive seal and prevents leaks.

Sidebars- The smelting washing filter press plates rest on sidebars to keep alignment and bear weight.

Pump- Necessary to create the pressure which drives the process, it is usually a positive displacement pump or a centrifugal feed pump.

Extra Features- Newer models can include additional components like plate shifters, spray bars, and automatic cake dischargers.

Here is a list of configurations for Media.

Drape over cloth- Twice the length of a plate, a Drape Over Cloth sits on top of the plate and lays down each side. It can be held in place by small nubs, or “dog ears”.

Drape over paper- If cake has a tendency to blind filter media after one batch, a filter paper can be draped on top of the cloth. When the Filter Press opens to discharge, the paper is thrown out with the cake.

Duplex cloth- Two separate cloths, each the size of a plate’s single face, are sewn to a gusset that covers the feed hole that runs through a plate. The top and side edges of the cloth either have grommets or Velcro to secure both side of the cloth to the plate.

CGR Cloth- This duplex cloth is shaped to fit in the groove of a CGR Plate. There is a rope sewn into the cloth’s border that gets caulked into each side of the plate.

As filtrate passes through the filter cloth it collects on the plate panel and drains into outlet holes on the corner(s) of the panel.  The outlet holes have a channel that goes into the adjacent corner eye.  The channel runs between the packing surfaces.  Another function of the system is to allow the cake to be dried “blown down” by compressed air.  The manifold piping at the end of the press can be valved to let air into the even numbered plates pushing the liquid thru the cloth/cake/cloth out the odd numbered plates. Sometimes particles of precoat and bodyfeed pass through the filter cloth and become trapped within the drainage channels plugging or partially blocking them.    It can be easy to overlook, since you can’t see into the channels unaided.

The plug likely occurs after a filter cloth tear or if the filter media is too permeable for the precoat and body feed used. The best time to check is when you notice a chamber has not formed a dry, firm cake as it usually does. If some chambers in the filter pack form great cakes and others form wet partial cakes, this could indicate which plates are plugged.

Today we remember the passing of Chris Squire who Died: June 27, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona

Christopher Russell Edward Squire (4 March 1948 – 27 June 2015) was an English musician, singer and songwriter best known as the bassist, backing vocalist and a founding member of the progressive rock band Yes. He was the longest-serving original member, having remained in the band until his death and appearing on every studio album released from 1969 to 2014. In 2017, he was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Yes.

Squire was widely regarded as the dominant bassist among the English progressive rock bands, influencing peers and later generations of bassists with his incisive sound and elaborately contoured, melodic bass lines. His name was associated with his trademark instrument, the Rickenbacker 4001. From 1991 to 2000, Rickenbacker produced a limited edition signature model bass in his name, the 4001CS.

Squire was born on March 4, 1948 in the north west London suburb of Kingsbury, to Peter and Joanne Squire. He grew up there and in the nearby Queensbury and Wembley areas. His father was a cab driver and his mother a secretary for an estate agent. As a youngster Squire took a liking to Lena Horne and Ella Fitzgerald records belonging to his father, though his main interest was church music. At age six, he joined the church choir at St. Andrew's in Kingsbury as a treble with Andrew Pryce Jackman, a friend of his who lived nearby. The choir got to perform at St. Paul's cathedral. Their choirmaster, Barry Rose, was an early influence on Squire. "He made me realise that working at it was the way to become best at something". Squire also sang in the choir at his next school, Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School, then located in Hampstead. He played the harmonica on his way home from school.

Squire did not consider a music career until the age of sixteen when the emergence of the Beatles and the Beat music boom in the early 1960s inspired him to "be in a group that don't use music stands". A school friend recommended that Squire take up the bass after pointing out his tall frame and large hands, thinking they were ideal for playing the instrument. Squire then purchased his first bass, a Futurama, which he described as "very cheap, but good enough to learn on." In 1964, on the last day before the summer holidays, Squire's headmaster suspended him and a friend for having their hair too long and they were given two shillings and sixpence to have it cut. Instead, they went home and never returned. After his mother took him to a recruitment agency and enquired for work related to music, Squire landed work selling guitars at a Boosey & Hawkes shop in Regent Street. He used the staff discount offer to purchase a new bass, a Rickenbacker 4001, in 1965

In September 1967, Squire joined Mabel Greer's Toyshop, a psychedelic group that included Peter Banks, singer Clive Bayley and drummer Bob Hagger. They played at the Marquee club where Jack Barrie, owner of the La Chasse drinking club a few doors down, saw them perform. "The musicianship ... was very good but it was obvious they weren't going anywhere", he recalled. One evening at La Chasse, Barrie introduced Squire to Jon Anderson, a worker at the bar who had not found success as the lead singer of The Gun or as a solo artist. The two found they shared common musical interests including Simon & Garfunkel, The Association and vocal harmonies. In the following days they developed "Sweetness", a track later recorded for the first Yes album.

As the band developed, Anderson and Squire brought in drummer Bill Bruford, keyboardist Tony Kaye and Banks for rehearsals. The five agreed to drop the name Mabel Greer's Toyshop; they settled on the name Yes, originally Banks's idea. The band played their first show as Yes at a youth camp in East Mersea, Essex on August 4, 1968. Squire spoke about the band's formation: "I couldn't get session work because most musicians hated my style. They wanted me to play something a lot more basic. We started Yes as a vehicle to develop everyone's individual styles." Squire developed a bass solo named "A Bass Odyssey".

In August 1969, Yes released their self-titled debut album. Martyn Adelman, who had played drums with Squire's first group, did the album photos. Squire received writing credits on four of the album's eight tracks—"Beyond & Before", "Looking Around", "Harold Land", and "Sweetness".

After Bruford left the band and was replaced by Alan White in July 1972, Squire altered his playing to suit the change in the band's rhythm section. He felt he was "playing too much, though I was never really sure. With Bill, the things that I did felt right ... With Alan, I found that I was able to play a bit less than before and still get my playing across".

Squire described his playing on "The Remembering (High the Memory)" from Tales from Topographic Oceans (1973) as "one of the nicest things I think I've ever played".

Squire was the only member to play on each of their 21 studio albums released from 1969 to 2014. He was seen as one of the main forces behind the band's music, as well as being "perhaps the most enigmatic" group member. Heaven & Earth was his final studio album.

While most of the band's lyrics were written by Anderson, Squire co-wrote much of their music with guitarist Steve Howe (with Anderson occasionally contributing). In addition, Squire and Howe would supply backing vocals in harmony with Anderson on songs such as "South Side of the Sky" and "Close to the Edge".

During the band's formative years Squire was frequently known for his lateness, a habit that Bruford often complained about. Because of this, Squire would frequently drive at unsafe speeds to get to gigs on time, once causing an accident on the way to a gig in West Germany after he fell asleep at the wheel, although nobody was injured. A posthumous commemorative brown plaque was titled in such a way as to make reference to his habitual lateness, namely " 'The Late' Chris Squire ".

As Squire, along with Alan White and Steve Howe, co-owned the "Yes" name at the time, the 1989 ABWH line-up without him (which contained Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe) could not record under that name.

Following Squire's death on June 27, 2015, the band's show on August 7 of the same year marked the first Yes concert ever performed without him. Former member Billy Sherwood replaced Squire during their 2015 North American tour with Toto from August to September 2015, as well as their performances in November 2015, as announced when the band first revealed Squire's disease in May 2015

On May 19, 2015, Yes announced that Squire had been diagnosed with acute erythroid leukemia, and would take a break from performing while receiving treatment.

In the late evening of June 27, 2015, Squire died from the illness at age 67 while still receiving treatment in his adopted hometown of Phoenix, Arizona. Yes' official Facebook page confirmed the news the next day. Tributes were paid by fellow musicians Brian May, Geezer Butler, Gene Simmons and Tom Morello, as well as bandmates Geoff Downes and Bill Bruford.

Squire's death was central to the song "Fragile" from the 2016 collaborative debut album between Jesu and Sun Kil Moon. In the song, Mark Kozelek recounts his experiences as a Yes fan, particularly in light of the death of a friend, also named Christopher. Squire was given a writing credit due to lyrics from his Yes composition "Onward" being quoted through backing vocals.

In April 2016 asteroid 2002 XR80 received an official permanent name from the International Astronomical Union in honour of Squire. Asteroid (90125) Chrissquire was discovered December 11, 2002 and is a main-belt asteroid with an orbital period of 4.08 years.
